I tried to pull up this web page and it doesn't seem to be building
(In other words, when I click on "click here to get started" it doesn't seem to be functional?)

Do you think maybe it is a problem with the web page being more indigenous to win media player than perhaps what the mac mini is trying to use? I am not sure? i just bot my mac (IBM) "I Bot Mac!" around the last day of last month. Does the mac mini o/s default to quicktime to play multi media off web sites?
Also when you answer this question will this forum automatically RSS feed me a prompt that an answer is waiting or do I have to click on a link to activate a subscribe
Chenk, here is one that crashes safari all over the place. Remember, I've only had the mac mini for
2 wks and was overseas 12 days of those two weeks (recall only 14 days in two weeks a fornight as we say in the UK, Irish, and Scottish region of the world) and so that means two to three days is all I've been able to use this lil mac (MINI) box since my original purchase date and safara just slams to its knees when I try to access multi media on it I am finding this with only two to three days use-

You have to get a user ID and a password, Chenk, from the proprietor yet when you do and bring up
the omnovia.com for 'a view of an event' the thing (web page) crashes i.e. Safari generating a report as long as a uhaul rent a truck receipt (see below). I dare not say who the proprietor is or you'll accuse me of spamming as you did unjustly b4 up above. I won't report you this time but watch y/self next time or you may be in deep weeds with your false accusations. You Scottsmen gotta try and have a little bit of magnanimity about your spirit. I was in omnovia and safari crashed when I closed to bring down the omnovia application. It took out the other web browsers I had on my desktop also.

BenoîtHello! I'm having, what sounds like, the same issue. Everything was working fine, until I ran a combined update, as prompted, for 10.8.2. After the normal reboot, the computer boots to a plain, white screen with no Apple. The computer is not responding to any keyboard command at startup, be it any of the reset commands, 'C' to boot to the optical drive, or option to select the startup destination. When pressing the Caps/Num lock keys, I notice that none of the LED lights will turn on on the keyboard. The piggybacked optical mouse is not showing it's red light from the bottom either. These tested fine on my MacBook Pro, however, and have always worked with the Mac Mini. Connecting and reconnecting the devices does not help. I know how to run all of the hard disk repairs, the permission fixes, etc., but it appears as though something is stopping my USB devices from being utilized (or even powered) at startup. I work in IT, and I support Apple computers every day (point being, I do know my stuff).
I opened the case and disconnected the hard drive from the logic board, thinking a potential hard disk issue is to blame. Upon restart, I still get the BONG (chime), but the machine will still not respond to any keyboard commands. Plugging in a USB stick that was created as a Mountain Lion boot device in Disk Utility with the InstallESD.dmg doesn't yield any results (as I am unable to 'tell' the computer to boot from it). The system disc that was packaged with the Mini is in the optical drive, but the Mini won't boot to that either. I'm at a complete loss. This is a 2010 model which was purchased new in December in that year. I'm using HDMI directly to an HDTV. The cable is working, the TV is working, the optical drive works in another machine, and the hard disc makes the necessary sounds (but not anything out of the ordinary).
To reiterate, this happened IMMEDIATELY after installing the combined 10.8.2 update. I am seeing a lot of posts about this issue, but no actual solutions. The dialogue seems to die somewhere after, "Reset the PRAM."

Captivate Subscription - Doesn't seem to be able to verify my paid subscription
This one might be beyond the technical expertise of the community at large, but I will give it a shot.
My 5.5 and 6 subscriptions worked fine in the past, but 7 just doesn't seem to be able to see that I have a paid subscription. Here is what has transpired so far ...
I was a beta tester with Captivate 7 and had the normal trial count down in that beta.
Captivate officially launched before the beta trial expired.
I uninstalled the beta and downloaded and installed the official Captivate 7 version. I kept my order ordered active for my month by month Cativate 6.
When I started using the new full version of 7, it opened each time in trial version mode with the countdown picking up from where I left off in the beta version. When I clicked I the option to register it took me to a seriel number page. The Captivate team and Adobe tech support had me download and install Captivate 7 multiple times without a change. During the week the team was helping with the serial number loop, on my own I had the idea that maybe if I just make a new order of a monthly subscription that might kick it in. It didn't work. THe team broke me out of the serial number loop by having me rename a file so it could be rebuilt.
With the serial number loop gone, I went to cancel my Captivate 6 and 7 month to month orders and kept the year commitment one.
Now I get a message that says "Subsription Expired. Unable to connect to the internet. Plaes check your connection settings and chose Try Again." Then a bit lower in the same message box it says "Your subscription for Adobe Captivate 7.0 has expired. Go to the Subscription Manager to renew your subscription ..." There is a count down and I am at about day 16 or so now. It will stop working at 0 I assume.
My internet has been up and down for the last 6 weeks due to my ISP overselling their bandwidth which I mention in case that may be playing a part in the problem. I have contacted Adobe support and verified with them that my account is indeed paid and active. Then they transferred me to tech support and they had me reinstall the new Creative Cloud interface that runs in the system tray. That seemed to work, so I signed out of tech support. Next morining the message popped up again, so I guess that fix wasn't a fix after all. It was just the message took too long to pop up to accurately confirm the fix.
At the Drag and Drop Extravaganza seminar, someone said they had some issues because they had two Adobe IDs and their fix was to get the subscription all to one. As far as I can tell I have only one Adobe ID, but I am not entirely sure how to be 100% certain. She said she didn't know she had two IDs before the problem. If anyone knows how I can be sure. let me know.

My Mac Mini doesn't recognize my Avengers DVD--it keeps saying "Supported disc not available." I've tried other DVD's which work, but not this one. itunes and everything else has been updated to the newest versions. Help? Also...It doesn't recognize the digital copy DVD.

It sure sounds to me like something on the iPod is broken. If it's under warranty then I would send it back for repair. If not, check out some of the web repair services, such as iPodResQ etc. -

Recently my mac mini doesn't see dvd's when i put them in to play.
I have to agree with Dah●veed and use an > LG GE24LU20 Reviews that I call Brutus.
Not only has Brutus spared the SuperDrives in both my 2006 iMac and 2010 Mac Mini, but he runs circles around the SuperDrives when it come to burning, importing, playing, even booting from System Install and Upgrade Disc's.
Other External DVD Drives that are highly reccommended here in the forums, are:
OWC's > SuperDrive DVD, DVD Dual-Layer, CD-R/RW, Blu-Ray Optical Drive Solutions FireWire, USB2, eSATA
and the LaCie's > LaCie - LightScribe DVD±RW, Duplicators and Blu-ray - USB 2.0 & FireWire -
Mac mini doesn't recognise Powerbook G4 in Target Disk mode
The hard disk on my Powerbook G4 is reporting errors so I would like to get the data off it by connecting it to my mini in target disk mode with a firewire cable.
The powerbook drive fires up into target disk mode but the mini doesn't seem to recognise it. Anyone else had this problem and solved it?

Thanks for your reply, I cannot get startup manager to come up unfortunately, I have tried trying to get startup to take place with the 10.4 bootup DVD, but couldn't get that to work either. I am thinking of resorting to using DiskWarrior DVD to load from it and see what I can salvage.... -
Mac mini doesn't do anything after startup
My early 2009 Mac mini doesn't allow me to do anything after booting. Once the desktop loads, anything I do causes a spinning beach ball to appear.
Important info: Hard drive has over 30Gb of free space, so that isn't an issue.
Help please!To be honest, I think it's over 60Gb of free space. The hard drive is either 320Gb or 360Gb.

I had a smilier issue... If you're using external speakers (as opposed to the ones on the display), you may need to re-select them in System Preferences. Some preference choices seem to reset with the Yosemite install.

How did you format your Mac Mini? Did you restart into Recovery Mode (Command+R) and erased your Macintosh HD? Or did you use some external drive or DVD to erase it?

You appear to be confusing Macs and iOS devices. The Mac mini does not run on iOS 4, if new, it has Mac OS X 10.6.x Snow Leopard.
You should sort out the profile that you show so we know what devices you have with which proper OS and then be much more explicit about what the problem is. -

Reboot your Mac, as soon as you hear the chime press the option/alt key and hold it until the boot manager appears, select OSX to boot from.

You have a couple of options for booting OS X.
One is to use the OS X Recovery Disk Assistant to copy the Mountain Lion Recovery HD to a USB thumb drive. A 4GB thumb drive is sufficient as the Disk Assistant only needs 1GB.
A second option would be to use a cloning software like SuperDuper or Carbon Copy Cloner to clone your existing Macintosh HD to an external USB drive. This would give you an external bootable copy of what you have now.
