I have a Mac Mini Early 2006.My mac's os xp.And I'm not found internal speakers driver for xp.Pls help me!

There a long thread about this on the 123MacMini forum.  At page three, they mention drivers (you need drivers, right?) and there is a link...

Actually, that thread might refer to a different, but similar, card.
Don't know if it finally worked.  Be very interested to hear.  (Not sure why Apple is/has always shunned eSATA?)

  • Mac Mini (Early 2006) and WPA2

Does the Mac Mini (Early 2006) model with its Atheros integrated Wi-Fi card support the WPA2 encryption standard?

    Welcome to the Apple discussions.
The early 2006 mini supports WPA2.

  • No sound no audio in Mac Mini Early 2006

I'm using a Early 2006 version of Mac Mini, I have upgraded the CPU to Core 2 Due 2.0Ghz, and ram to 2G. So it runs Mac OS X 10.7.5. Recently, I have no sound but used to have in the past. I've checked systems and I have no sound output. Output volume is grayed out and shows muted. Also on System Report, the "Audio" page is totally blank which used to show Intel HDA specs. I've tried resetting PRAM and SMC (twice)- that didn't work. I've tried plugging in speakers, headphones, etc. Doesn't work. Is this a hardware problem? Any ideas? I have not tried to re-boot from original optical disc and press C, but I will try to look for the old disc first.

I suspect you disconnected something during the disassembly/reassembly. Take it apart and check your work

  • Mac Mini Early 2006 Mini PCIe SATA Card Not Showing Up

I'm trying to add a couple of SATA ports to an early 2006 mac mini by swapping out the mini PCIe AirPort for a SATA card. This is the card I'm using http://www.startech.com/Cards-Adapters/HDD-Controllers/SATA-Cards/2-Port-Mini-PC I-Express-Internal-SATA-II-Controller-Card~MPEXSATA22I, problem is it doesn't seem to show up when installed in the mac. The card works perfectly when installed in a different machine.
The AirPort card shows up fine when swapped back, so the connector's okay. But with the SATA card installed, System Profiler says the computer doesn't contain any PCI cards. I've tried resetting the NVRAM with no success. I don't even see an entry for the device it in the ioreg output, so I'm thinking there might be a power issue. Does the mac mini supply both 3.3V and 5V to the mini PCIe connector? Is there anything special I need to do to get this card to show up?
    Thanks.

  • Digital Audio Broken on a Mac Mini (early 2006)?

I've got an early 2006 Mac Mini 1.83GHz which I'm trying to use as an HTPC. When plugging in an TOSlink to miniplug cable to the audio port I get the "flipover" to Digital Out in sound preferences but no sound from my Pioneer AV receiver. I've made all the correct adjustments in the receiver preferences and tested them with a iMac and sound plays through just fine.
Headphone and Internal speaker work fine on the Mini and the cable is fine as noted above with the iMac test. Is it possible that the optical digital audio portion of this jack is bad?
Apple Support doesn't seem to think it is hardware related. I've re-installed OSX and checked permissions. I don't have the restore disk to be able to do a Apple Hardware Test and the Leopard disk does not contain it.
Any ideas as I've run out aside from taking in to an Apple Store for evaluation?

Took to Apple Store and they fixed the unit with a new digital audio card. $49. I'm happy.

  • Mac mini as an external hard drive for time machine??

I have a mac mini from a few years ago and it is never used. I was wonder if it could be used as an external hard drive for time machine. If this can be done how do I go about setting it up for this type of useage?

Thanks for starting this thread. I too am trying to use my old mac mini in target mode to utilize it's hard drive for Time Machine.
I hope to strip it down to just it's OS (10.5) and use the remaining hard drive space for Time Machine backup.
Is it possible to just have it running at certain times for regular back in target mode? Or do I have to keep it on constantly?
I fear having to restart using the "T" command each time. Isn't there a way to just have it sleep and then have the ability to wake it up as I backup or restore?
thanks in advance for any help.

  • Mac mini (early 2006) firmware update 1.0.1 trouble

    Hi,
I just tried to install the update a couple of times with no success: the update tries to start with the progress bar flashing on the screen, but quickly stops and the mini restarts again all by itself.
I tried unplugging all peripherals and even repaired disk permissions, but no help.
What could it be, the 1.0 firmware update went well. Now after each failed attempt, the firmware updater comes up and suggests to try again...

I have stacker external drive formatted as one mac partition with the latest updates, and connected as FW drive. With external drive selected as boot volume, I downloaded FW Update 1.0.1 and installed with no problem. I restarted on the internal drive setup for Japanese windows XP and the initial restart was slow (whew!) When I open startup disk utility in windows it doesn't show external mac volume, (I'm not sure if utility is compatible with external volumes, or maybe have to install Mac file system support). I'll just use option (alt) key to select mac volume.
    Sincerely,
    Jeff H

  • Hard drive for mac mini early 2009 model

    Hi,
My hard drive stopped working, and I would like to purchase a new one.
After checking with several vendors, I could not get an official answer if their drive is supported by Mac Mini early 2009 model.
Can you please advice what hard drive vendors/models do you know are supported?
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The Mac mini uses a 2'5" hard disk, and near all of these hard disks will work with your computer. You can buy the hard disk in OWC > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/hard-drives/2.5-Notebook/
If you want more information, you can only use 9.5 mm hard drives, so search them in OWC and you will find hard drives that will work with your computer. HGST drives have a good reputation and work very well

  • Software update for mac mini (late 2006)

What software update do I need to buy for my mac mini (late 2006) so I can update itunes?)

    Hello,
First you need to research all the problems people are having with the higher OSX versions, & make sure you have a bootable clone of what you have just in case.
then you must get 10.6 if they still have it, install it & update to 10.6.8 so you have the App Store to buy & download the huge 10.8 Installer.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...

It's been pulled from the online store & Apple Stores, so you have to call Apple to buy it, last I heard.

  • How to make Mac Mini (Early 2009) sleep in Lion?

After upgrading to Lion, my Mac Mini (Early 2009) stopped going to sleep from the Apple menu or from the keyboard. The problem has persisted with all point releases of Lion. The computer went to sleep with the same peripherals just fine under Snow Leopard.
The display goes to sleep but the computer itself neither suspends nor hibernates. The power light is lit and doesn't pulsate. Measuring how many watts the device draws from the power socket shows that it's not sleeping. It wakes up so quickly that it must be only the display sleeping.
Console log shows nothing when trying to sleep.
Changing the hibernate mode from the default 3 to 25 makes no difference. Running the PleaseSleep app make no difference.
How to put Mac Mini (Early 2009) to sleep (preferably hibernation--not just suspension) under Lion?

    Hello,
Open console in Applications>Utilities, check the system log for the date/time of the last problem  & the Startup right after that for clues.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts (Users & Groups in later OSX versions)>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • Confirm iSight with Mac mini (early 2009)?

Can someone please confirm that an iSight (external Firewire 400) camera actually works with their Mac mini (early 2009)? Of course, that will need a Firewire 400 to Firewire 800 adapter.
I can't get mine to work. I've used two different iSight cameras that work on other (older) Mac minis. I've used the cable that comes with the iSights and another Firewire 400 cable.
When I plug it in the iSight makes a noise and the light comes on briefly (for a second or two) and then it goes off. No applications that require a camera (like Photo Booth) see the camera.
I'm worried that this Mac mini may not have enough power to run the iSight, which is probably also an ominous sign for unpowered external Firewire drives.
    Thanks for any assistance.
    Cheers,
    Ashley.

Well, it seems that I have found my sad answer!!! The very same issue. New MAC MINI, Old and nice isight camera, which works perfectly well with my powerbook G4 even now, but not with my new mac mini.
I am sure I have the correct cable (it allowed migration of my entire admin account from my powerbook to my new mac mini), but it still does not work between isight and new mac mini.
Having said this, I certainly remember plugging my isight to my new mac mini using this new adapter cable (800-400mb/sec - orange flat one) and it was working at least i saw my image.
I do not remember which application i used (skype or ichat) but i certainly remember my satisfaction with my new cable. Since then i did not need video conversations, but yesterday i needed one, and i realized that my isight is not recognized by my macmini any more!
I am saying this because it might not be only a power issue, it could be that multiple updates of i sight on my old powerbook passed in block to my new mac mini and this allowed isight working. In contrast, those update are not installable on Leopard operating systems.
I think, since i saw those two devices (isight and new mac mini) working together nicely, i deleted my entire migration account (having found a different way of keeping only absolutely necessary things on my new mac mini). I was thinking about this all day today. Can this be it? drivers issue? the non-installable on Leopard updates that otherwise can be migrated en-block from the old system?
I am sorry to confuse you all, if I did, but what do you think about it please?

  • Adobe Creative Cloud - has anybody had any luck running Adobe CC on a new mac mini? Does it run slow for Photoshop?

Adobe Creative Cloud - has anybody had any luck running Adobe CC on a new mac mini? Does it run slow for Photoshop?

Adobe CC applications are very large and the base Mac mini isn't a good choice because it has only 4GB of RAM and has a slow standard hard drive. To get the most out of ACC you should upgrade the mini to at least 8GB. I'd also choose an SSD or Fusion drive for better performance.

  • I've got a late 2009 mac mini with a 320gb hard drive and I want to upgrade it to a 1tb drive or bigger. What HDDs are compatible with my mini?

I've got a late 2009 mac mini with a 320gb hard drive and I want to upgrade it to a 1tb drive or bigger. What HDDs are compatible with my mini?
Because of the price I'm not interested in solid state drives, unless of course you want to send me $1,000.
I've already got external drives but I take my mini back and forth to work and don't want to carry those drives with me.
I'm not interested in buying a laptop. My mini works great so why waste $1,000 or more when I can buy a 1 to 3 TB hdd for under $300 and have exactly what I want. My late 2009 Mac Mini with a large hdd.
I went to Crucial's website and they can't tell me what drives fit my Mac Mini. That's where I got my ram (8GB). I'm ONLY interested in name brand quality HDDs.

The limiting factor in your 2009 mini is the max 9.5mm drive thickness.
One of the largest capacity 2.5" drives that meets this criteria is the HGST (formerly Hitachi) at 1.5GB
Any reputable SATA HDD you can find that is not thicker then this 9.5mm will work.

  • Mac Mini (late 2012) w/ fusion drive - sleep issues

I am experiencing difficulties with my new Mac Mini (late 2012) w/ fusion drive.
All of the system preferences are set to NOT SLEEP EVER!
The screen saver is set to NEVER!
When I leave the unattended for more than an hor or two it puts itself to sleep and quits all open applications?
I did ZAP the parameter ram and there was no change?
Any assistance you can provide will be much appreciated!

Go to System Preferences->Personal->Security & Privacy and click on the ADVANCED tab in the lower-right corner. (You will probably have to click the AUTHENTICATE lock in the lower-left corner and provide your password first.)
Un-check the "Log out after X minutes of inactivity" box in the Advanced panel or set X to a large value that isn't likely to get in your way often.

  • New mac mini 2.3 i5 spare drive bay????????

    Hi.
So you can get a custom 2nd drive built into the middle or the range 2.5 i5 mac mini. this isn't an option for the bottom of the range 2.3.
My question is, do they both have spare drive bays inside. It would seem odd if they didn't. as the server has dual drives, that would mean all 3 models where pretty similar inside, which would seem to make sense.
I was hoping to get a 2.3 and install an SSD for osx and apps, using the 500gb drive for storage.
Thanks in advance for any info on this

Step 7 of the iFixit teardown of the 2011 Mini http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Mac-Mini-Mid-2011-Teardown/6131/1 seems to say there is room and everything.
But you need a second and longer SATA cable.
