Mac Mini hardware requirements :for Apple Technician (ACMT)

Hello,
I am needing to purchase a mini mac for the ACMT certification.
I am trying to find out what might be the least expensive used mini mac I can purchase that will run a pretty current OS.
I am needing something that will help me get my cert. I would love to buy a new mini but am not prepared to do that at this time.
Anyone have any recommendations, or is there any websites you know of to purchase a good used mini?
TIA,
/Wayne

These apple refurbs, which come with current OSX, iLife08 or 09, and 1-year warranty are good values:

i am already new and need information about the min. hardware requirements for a SAP ERP 2k5 System using ECC 6.0 with IDES 7.10.
I read the Master Guides about ERP, but i am not even more clever than before.
The OS is MS Windows 2k3 Server EE.
The last information i had from another one to this configuration is:
    1 dual-core cpu (? Ghz)
    4-6 GB RAM
    300 GB HDD
Does it fit? Can anyone help me out?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    IDES 7.10?!?
If it's an IDES system you want to set up, HDD space may be the bottleneck. It's sufficient for installation, but you may run out of disk space since note <a href="https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1013391">1013391</a> states
    Hardware Requirement
                     MS-SQL  ORACLE   MaxDB   DB2 Win/Unix  AS/400
    DB size (GB):    160     220      220          160       280
Since IDES is for education and training purposes only the rest should be sufficient.
I'm running an ERP 6.0 IDES system (32 bit) on a single core, 3.2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 250 GB System and 500 GB SAP/DB HDD with pretty good response time.

  • Hardware required for RAC setup at home

    Hi All,
Could you please suggest the Hardware required for practicing RAC at home.
    Regards,
    VN

    Hi, "user7202581",
For practicing purposes, you could consider a VBox / OVM based setup at home. We have used those for Hands On Labs in the course of Oracle Open World more than once. I recommend you use a machine with at least 8GB memory and dual core (HT enabled) processors. Some configuration examples: Lenovo Laptop, ThinkPad, 8GB, 320GB HDD, i5 dual core, 2.5 GHz, Win 7 or a Mac Mini, latest version, i5 dual core, 2.3GHz and 8GB memory would do the trick for a two node cluster. Note that I mention the hosting OS in case you use VBox. For OVM based setups you either have to use a dual boot system or use a dedicated machine. You will be somewhat restricted with respect to the hardware failures you can impose on this system obviously (due to the VM setup), but for practicing purposes, you should find those environments sufficient, I think. Also see: RAC on OVM templates: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/vm/rac-template-11grel2-166623.html
    Hope that helps. Thanks,
    Markus

  • What are the system requirements for apple itunes 11.1?

what are the system requirements for apple itunes 11.1?

    For Mac:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/SP663
    Software:
Mac OS X version 10.6.8 or later (intel-based hardware)
    400MB of available disk space
iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match availability may vary by country.
    Hardware:
Mac computer with an Intel Core processor and 512MB of RAM
To play 720p HD video, an iTunes LP, or iTunes Extras, a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor and 1GB of RAM is required.
To play 1080p HD video, a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor and 2GB of RAM is required.
Screen resolution of 1024x768 or greater; 1280x800 or greater is required to play an iTunes LP or iTunes Extras
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store
Apple combo drive or SuperDrive to create audio, MP3, or back-up CDs; some non-Apple CD-RW recorders may also work
Apple SuperDrive to back up your library to DVDs; some non-Apple DVD-RW drives may also work.
You can run OS X 10.6.8 in an Intel-based MacBook w/ first model, in retail DVD.
But it won't work in a power-pc architecture Mac... see specifications:

  • Hardware requirements for movie rentals?

    Hi,
finally iTunes rentals and movies have made it to the german store as well. I rented a movie yesterday and had to realize that my iBook G4-800 is not able to play the movie without stuttering and hanging all the time.
I know that this is old hardware, but as far as the resolution of the movie is concerned, it should still play fine, at least in the Quicktime player. When trying to open it from the Finder directly in quicktime player, all I get is a message that this movie can only be played via iTunes. What a bummer, because playing anything that even looks like a movie in iTunes needs about twice as much resources compared to playing it in the quicktime player. At least on that machine. I have never understood why it is like that, because iTunes is certainly also using the quicktime framework, isn't it?
Now, are there minimum hardware requirements for renting a movie? I couldn't find any. I read that you can download the movie in differnet resolutions, I did not get any window with choices for resolution when I rented the thing?
Any clues would be appreciated. I already filed a report via my iTunes account about that, but it might take ages to get a response.
    Thanx and cheers
    Peter

Looks like your processor is too slow. From this page: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Playing videos purchased on the iTunes Store requires a Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5 or *1.0GHz PowerPC G4 or faster processor*
Playing HD-quality videos purchased on the iTunes Store requires a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor
512MB of RAM; 1GB is required to play HD-quality videos
Playing videos also requires at least 16MB of video RAM

  • Is it right to mix sizes of memory modules in a mac mini 2012? for example 2Gb 8Gb?

Is it right to mix sizes of memory modules in a mac mini 2012? for example 2Gb 8Gb?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can do that without any problem, always that the total amount of memory is less than the maximum memory your Mac mini supports. A Late 2012 Mac mini supports 16 GB of memory, and you can find in this site the steps to install more memory > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4432?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US#1

what cable do i need to use to connect my grandson's old style external isight webcam to his 2014 Mac mini in order for him to be able to FaceTime me

You need either a FireWire 800 to FW 400 cable or a FR 800 (male)/FW(female) adopter.
However. it the Mini (note that you still have the late 2012 Mini, Apple has not updated the Mini since then) has Mavericks it may not work satisfactorily. I tried it on my 2102 and I get abount 1 frame every 20 seconds. Another uses posted same problem.
However, it it work fine on my late 2009 Mini with Mavericks

Also the systems crashed frequently with any flash-player required pages in web browser. What's wrong??

  • Hardware requirements for os x v10.7 lion?

what are the hardware requirements for installing os x 10.7 lion?
I have an intel core2 duo imac (late 2006) 2ghz-MA590LL running os x 10.6.8 snow leopard.
I've seen that this imac model cannot be upgraded to mavericks or yosemite, but I was hoping it may accept lion?
I've looked thru a lot of system specs etc for lion installation, but it never mentions the (late 2006) problem as does mavericks.
can anyone confirm that lion will install on this imac? also not sure where to get it, or if apple has this download avail still?
    thanks.

    1. It will if the computer has at least 2GB of RAM.

  • If i have multiple iPhones and Mac Mini sharing the same Apple ID, can I use Facetime between the devices?

if i have multiple iPhones and Mac Mini sharing the same Apple ID, can I use Facetime between the devices?

Yes, but if you want these devices to have complete capability of calling each other they each must have their own separate, individual e mail address.  If they don't have individual e mail addresses, the i phones will be able to call each other because you'll be using their  individual phone numbers -- the Mac mini will be able to call the i phones, but, the iphones will not be able to call the Mac mini.  This is because the iphones will be using the mini's e- mail address to make the call, and if they have the same e mail address, they will think they are calling themselves, so the call will not connect.
So, the way I see it is,  if you keep all of the email addresses the same, the only thing you'll loose is the ability of the iphones to call the mini.
EDIT:  Thinking about it, my first sentence needs to be modified.  Your iphones can share an email address but it must be different from the Mac mini address.
This isn't rocket science, but it can make your head spin. LOL

  • Hardware requirement for running exchange 2010 on vmware workstation

Dear Team,I need to create a exchange 2010 sp2 on a guest os on vmware workstation.kindly help me out with the physical hardware requirements for a home user

    Hey Mukund26,
Before I answer your questions, my suggestion would be for you to figure out exactly what you want to get out of running that Exchange lab.  Are you trying to learn Exchange features like DAGs?  Are you trying to learn about virtualizing Exchange?  When you figure that out you'll be better able to answer question 1 since you may not need all of those virtual machines.
Here are my thoughts on your questions.
    1) It is probably technically possible to run 10 virtual machines on the configuration you have but you're going to have pretty bad performance. I would try to trim that down to only the virutal machines that you really need in order to use the lab how you want to use it.  Here are some questions that may help you figure out what you need:
Why do you need two domain controllers?  I don't think you need to worry as much about redundancy in your lab.
Why do you need 2 ESXi hosts and a vCenter?  What purpose do they serve in this configuration?  Are you trying to run the Exchange VMs nested under the ESXi VMs?  If so, why?
Is there a reason why you want to separate out HTS/CAS from MBX in your lab?   Combining all roles together can reduce the number of VMs you need.  If you separate out the roles you'll need to allocate a lot of RAM to support all of those Exchange VMs.
    2)  Running a lot of virtual machines on a single 1TB SATA disk, especially a 5400 RPM disk, is going to be slow.  It'll be especially painful when the VMs are booting up, rebooting, shutting down, etc..  Try to stagger the power on operations so they don't all boot at once.  For example, first boot your DCs, then boot your HTS/CAS, then your MBX, etc.   There is no doubt that configuration will be slow, so if you can get your hands on an solid state drive with enough space you'll have significantly better performance.  For the purposes of a lab, though, it is probably ok if you can be patient.
    3) I think the i5 processor will be just fine for this lab.  Usually in a lab setting CPU performance isn't the most important thing so similar to above as long as you can be a little patient I think that CPU will suit you just fine.
As I said figure out what you want to get out of the lab and then you can determine how many VMs you need and whether or not you want to upgrade hardware.  If you're looking to learn about Exchange 2010 in general I would suggest using multirole servers, getting rid of one of the DCs, and not worrying about virtualizing ESX/vCenter so that you can learn.  If you're looking to learn about virtualizing Exchange 2010 on vSphere then let's figure out exactly what you want to get out of it and figure out what you can learn using VMware Workstation and what you really need vSphere for.
    Best of luck!
    Matt
