Mac Mini Marantz SR6007: Samsung TV keeps blinking

Hello,
I have looked all over for this and I'm on my last rope. I have a mini bought in 2011 which worked flawlessly with my Marantz SR7002 and my Samsung LED TV. The marantz just died and I've just replaced it by an SR6007.
On the mini (and on the mini only, all other machines - Xbox One, Tivo… - work great) I have a phenomenon that others have called "redetection": Samsung TV doing black screen for a second, and coming back showing 1080p@60hz, in a loop (https://forums.plex.tv/index.php/topic/79698-rasplex-cec-and-redetection-problem s/). This link seems to concern a Rasbery Pi with insufficient power, but surely this is not the case for a mini?
I have tried various HDMI cables, I have tried using a powered HDMI hub… No joy.
I have tried to update to Yosemite, resetting PRAM and SMC… No joy.
I have tried my wife's MBP Retina 15" and it works just fine.
I have ordered an HDMI detective but I can't understand why this would be needed since it worked fine without it on the older Marantz?
The "blinking" doesn't appear when the Mac boots (probably because the Graphic card is not immediately active?) but I assume doing a clean install wouldn't help? I'm not looling into replacing the mini (although it could be done)… Any suggestion would be really welcome!
Thanks.

Understand that there is one HDMI port on your TV that is specifically designated for PC connectivity. The order that the TV or Mini are powered on may determine your results. For your specific TV model, check buyer reviews on Amazon or elsewhere that can include optimum TV/Computer settings adjustment for improved viewing results.

  • Mac mini mid 2010 hard disk keeps ejecting itself

My mac mini is set up with two sata disks installed, one is a 128 ssd and the other a 1tb hdd.  Since installing mountain lion, the hdd keeps ejecting itself, and i get a message saying - this hard disk was not properly ejected. then i wont find the disk in finder, or disk utility!.  I then have to remove the hdd from the mac mini and plug it into a usb caddy, which finds it no problem, and then when i put it back in the mac mini, it works again!! so the disk is not faulty i dont think.  It then works for a period as random as a few hours, to a few weeks and then i will randomly get the "this disk was not ejected properly" message and it has again dissapeared.  I use the mac mini as a media centre and it isnt really being pushed hard when the failure happens.
Anyone have any ideas as to whats wrong?

Hello, Sorry for the late reply.
When i open console after the ejection i get the message:
01/11/2012 22:32:42.000 kernel[0]: Failed to issue COM RESET successfully after 3 attempts. Failing...
    01/11/2012 22:32:42.000 kernel[0]: disk1s2: no such device.
Hope this gives a clue, i'm tearing my hair out over it.  there is absolutely nothing wrong with the disk itself.
If i do a full shutdown and restart, it finds the disk again no problems, but if i simply choose to restart from the menu, it does not find the disk again.
Thanks for any help you can give on this.  I have only been experiencing this issue since i upgraded to mountain lion.

  • My Mac Mini won't shutdown it keeps restarting. Help!

I have brought my Mac Mini a week ago, the basline model (new 2012). I go to shut it down and it just reastarts and show me the screen saying there was a problem, I can't reslove the issue, and I had to result in holding the power button down. What is the issue that I ama having?

I used to run my Mac Mini (2012) with Lion and XBMC under my 32" Samsung TV and never had an issue with shutting it down.
I then upgraded to Moutain Lion via upgrade and moved my Mac mini to my office with my 24" Samsung TV...
Then I noticed my Mac Mini would reboot when I was screen sharing and I tried to shutdown...
This is annoying when you are using it remotely.
So being a techie sort of guy I went overkill and did the follwoing:
    - Wiped the HDD
    - Did a fresh install of Moutain Lion
    - Cleared the NVRAM (Rebooted 10 times)
    - Cleared the PRAM (Rebooted 10 times)
    The shutdown problem still persisted....
My conclusion was it must have been upgrading the OS from Lion to Mountain Lion however my work colleague (mockingly) pointed out that in the forums someone said is to do with the HDMI.
    I ran tests:
24" Samsung TV Powered On - HDMI Connected - Shutdown  (Issue occurred)
24" Samsung TV Powered Off - HDMI Connected - Shutdown  (Issue did not occur)
(To test this I turned the tv off and watched what I was doing via Screenshare)
24" Samsung TV Powered On - HDMI Connected - Shutdown via Screen Sharing (Issue occurred)
24" Samsung TV Powered Off - HDMI Connected - Shutdown via Screen Sharing (Issue did not occur)
HDMI Disconnected - Shutdown via Screen Sharing (Issue did not occur)
    - So I ran further tests!!!!
32" Samsung TV Powered On - HDMI Connected - Shutdown  (Issue did not occur)
32" Samsung TV Powered Off - HDMI Connected - Shutdown  (Issue did not occur)
(To test this I turned the tv off and watched what I was doing via Screenshare)
32" Samsung TV Powered On - HDMI Connected - Shutdown via Screen Sharing (Issue did not occur)
32" Samsung TV Powered Off - HDMI Connected - Shutdown via Screen Sharing (Issue did not occur)
It looked like it was the 24" TV however whilst I was testing with the 32" TV I got annoyed that the menu bar was off screen so I turned the resolution down from (1920X1080 @60hz)  to (1360 x 768 @60hz), shutdown, and on the second shutdown the issue occurred!!!!!
    So I checked my 24" TV (1360 x 768 @60hz)  was the original resolution.
I have changed it to 1600 x 900 and no shutdown issue on the 24" TV!!!!
So the resolution 1360 x 768 seems to be the problem!!!!!!

  • Mac Mini with a Samsung smart TV problem

Hello Everybody. This is my first time in here !
I hope someone would be able to share ideas or views about my issue.
I have a Mac Mini I used to plug into a Panasonic TV, using a a Mini Display to HDMI cable. Since the Mini Display port does not carry audio, I used a mini jack stereo to RCA cable from the Mac's speaker socket to the TV's audio. Everything worked pretty OK.
I just bought a new Samsung smart TV and planned to do the same thing. However, I was horrified to discover that the audio won't carry. From a little bit of research I have made, it turns out that the TV disables the audio once it realizes the DVI does not carry any, and therefore no sound is heard even though the RCA's connected.
One way to go around it was to rename the HDMI source to DVI - PC, but it doesn't work 100% of the time (for some reason) and did not work in my case.
So far, the Samsung guys I've spoked to you haven't been very helpful and offered that I use the TV's optical sound IN (which the TV doesn't have), and even then they did not know if it worked 100%.
I've found out that Mini Display + Stereo to HDMI adapter exists, but it's very expensive here (over 50 pounds, almost $100) and I'd like to find alternatives - The TV's speakers are pretty good and I'd like to avoid buying speakers, if I could work it out with simple cable work.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

I ma having the same issue, I have one of the original Mini Mac and was connect to my Panasonic TV and everything worked fine.
I have bought a Samsung after been told by the shop it was the best and compatable only to find I like the person above cannot get any sound.
    All ideas welcome.
    Thanks in advance

  • '09 mac mini connection to Samsung LCD

I just purchased the new mac mini and am trying to hook it up to my 42" Samsung LCD using the mini display port and a VGA cable. The TV is not recognizing the hookup (PC is not an option in my list of sources). If anyone has any ideas or suggestions on things to try I'd appreciate it! I purchased my TV a little less than three years ago. It's an HD set - model LN-S4092D - in case that helps! Thanks!

    tbrodi,
I do have the same stuff. only a newer version of the Samsung and an older mini.
I use a DVIHDMI cable, connect the cable into port 2 on the tv and the audio jack from the mini straight to the input on the tv, the audio out from the tv is going to the recever/amplifier.
At least, that works for me all in full HD

  • Mac mini (mid 2009) - Samsung TV - Audio Question

    Hi,
I have a mid 2009 Mac mini and want to connect it to a Samsung TV (UE32EH4000).
The TV has HDMI ports but no audio in - is there a way of getting audio from the mini to the TV?
    Thanks a million in advance,
    Rob

Are you sure the monitor has no audio in ports?
For information, there is no mid 2009 Mini. There are early 2009 and late 2009 Mini. The latter one's graphics has 256 MB of video memory and the former 128 or 256.
In any event, the the min display port to HDMI adopter only suppies video on the any 2009 Mini.

  • Mac mini 2011 with samsung UA32D5000PM

I purchased a mac mini 2011 recently and hooked it up to my samsung UA32D5000PM with HDMI cable. I am getting terrible image quality setting the display to 1080p. This is very frustraing, someone pls help!

I managed to solve in my Samsung LED TV 40 -
I clicked on the Source button on my TV remote control. Then click on Tools on the HDMI port on which the mac mini is connected.
Then select Edit Name. not type the name, chosen from the list option DVI PC and it was amazing, it worked fine for me, so I have to improve the contrast now.

  • Mac Mini 2011 and Samsung 940bw

Hi I have just (this afternoon) purchased a Mac Mini
I have connected it with the hdmi to dvi converter to my Samsung 940bw, and it does not want to recognise the monitor. I can hear the start chime so I know the unit is booting up.
I have connected it my my Samsung 2232bw and it works perfectly, any one know how I can get it to recognise the 940, I've tried things like lowering the resolution while connected to the 2232 and then connecting it to the 940, and it still doesnt want to know.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers
    Jo

Do you need to push the source button on the monitor (button just to the left of the 'auto' button) so it recognizes the digital input?

  • Mac mini support for Samsung Syncmaster 244T

I recently purchased a Mac mini 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 and wanted to connect it to a Samnsung Syncmaster 244T monitor. I connected it using the Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter but it would not display. I also attempted to use the HDMI to DVI adapter included with the Mac but to no avail. Any recommendations?

Try resetting the Mac Mini's > NVRAM and PRAM
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.

Occasionally when I wake the 2014 Mac mini from sleep the colors on the monitor are very bright.  I go into systems preferences and then display.  I click on the color button and it will change back to normal.  I have tried both a DVI to mini displayport and VGA to mini displayport.  Problem occurs with both.  What else can I try to prevent this from happening?
