Mac Mini (Mid 2007), how sync iPhone 5?

I have a Mac Mini (Mid 2007) and cannot sync my iPhone 5 as Itunes 7 requires OSX 10.6.8 or later which I cannot install as the Mac Mini is too old. Can anyone advise what my optiosn are  other than iCloud?

.....requires OSX 10.6.8 or later which I cannot install as the Mac Mini is too old.
Yours facts make no sense.
A MacMini 2.1 (mid 2007) can be upgraded to either 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) or 10.7 (Lion).
The latest version of iTunes is 10.7 not 7. It also works with either SL or Lion.
You would need at least 10.7 (Lion) in order to use iCloud.
You would have to phone Apple at 1-800-My-Apple to buy an authorization to download Lion, but you would also need to have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 installed to have the App Store.

  • OS deleted on mac mini mid 2007

    Hi all
I have got mac mini mid 2007 from my friend and it has got windows 7 installed through bootcamp but there is not any OS. I think my friend has deleted it. I want to give this mini to my son and he wants OS on it. please any one could help me out that how and which OS i required as i have intel dual core 2 and ram 2gb. i looked through internet but it made me more confused and not sure where to start. It would be nice if someone instruct me with step by step
    kind regards

    Try this...
Startup into the Startup Manager holding the Option (Alt) key.
From there, you should be able to select the Macintosh HD and startup from it.
    If not...?
Then you will need to reformat the Hard Drive using the original Install Disc set or a Snow Leopard upgrade DVD.
Install OS X and upgrade it to the latest OS X that it can run.
    FWIW..
If you decide to run a later OS X than the original version, you will need to get/buy a retail Snow Leopard upgrade DVD.
Update it to 10.6.8 and then use the App Store to upgrade to the latest version that, that Mac can run.

  • Does anyone have a Mac Mini (MID-2007) with wifi that works?

Does anyone have a Mac Mini (MID-2007 C2D) which wifi works?
It seems that Mac Mini has different models and some have a Broadcom Wifi card and some Atheros WIFI card. I'm trying to find user whom Mac Mini 2007 with atheros card works. Since os x 10.6 and 10.7 my wifi have not worked at all. I even changed internal antenna. Also attached external antenna on WIFI cards ext port. Still very poor connection. Also sometimes when my mac wakes from sleep country code of WIFI card is US not FI as rest of my family macs. WIFI is made with apple extreme router (802.11n). 2.4 and 5 Ghz networks. I do not have network interference. With Minimac Atheros card has support b and g network with 2.4 Ghz and a network with 5 ghz. Signal ratio is average -80 dbm, and speed varies from 6-36. Both a and g networks work same way on minimac. When I turn machin on wifi is usable about 1-2 minutes then latency will rice and after that timeout will occur on network. Still mac mini is connected to network.
    Atheros firmware is: 5424: 2.1.14.9
    Card: Airport Extreme (0x168c, 0,86)
    Location: ETSI
    Country: FI
    Security: NONE
    PHY: 802.11a
There are a lot of guides on net how to get it working; eg. change older OS kext, remove preferences, install os again (done all that, nothing works, but older kext files seem to work little better). But does any one have a Mac Mini with working wifi. What brand is your router and is the card in minimac original Atheros. Broadcom seems to operate Apple Extreme router quite well.

My Mac Mini Mid 2007 has the same specs:
    Card: AirPort Extreme (0x168c, 0x86
    Firmware: Atheros 5424: 2.1.14.9
Ever since I upgraded to 10.7.2, my WiFi has been running painfully slowly. Same issue: it works okay for a minute or two, but then slows to a crawl, with network timeouts, etc. And it shows I'm still connected to the network. It gets particularly bad when waking from sleep, unless I quit my web browser first, then put the machine to sleep. (Waking the machine with browser still "launched" causes big problems.)
Has anyone figured out a workaround for this issue?

  • Mac mini (Mid 2007) DVD player/burner issues

I have a Mac mini (Mid 2007) that I purchased on Ebay about a year ago. When I purchased it, the DVD drive was all ready bad and it only had 1 GB of RAM. I tore apart a different Mac Mini I had lying around with a dead motherboard, and took the DVD burner out of it and put it in the one I purchased off Ebay. I also upgraded the RAM to 2 GB (new RAM, not from the old Mac mini with the dead motherboard), and upgraded the OS X to Lion.
The DVD burner worked perfectly until yesturday. The problem I am now running into is the DVD drive works fine during boot, and I can boot to the original Mac OS X disc that came with the Mac. But once the operating system is loaded, it is like the DVD drive does not even exist. It is not displayed in hardware, I can't burn DVDs, I can't watch DVDs, and I cannot eject anything by any means other than a forced eject during boot. Again, it is like as far as the OS is concerned, it does not exist.
I am also having this issue with the headphone port on the back of the Mac, but more on a intermitent basis. The headphone port works, and is seen by the OS 50% of the time, but the other 50%, the OS does not see it at all. And it is the same way with the integrated speaker. (The DVD drive is all the time.)
Everything works fine during boot, but not in OS X. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Good work, thanks for the report!

  • Mac Mini (Mid-2007 version)

Can a Mini (Mid-2007 version with OS X 10.5.8) be upgraded beyond OS X10.6?  If not, is it too old to have a meaningful life?
    Thanks

That's correct. You need to buy and install another 1GB RAM, and should buy another 3GB before upgrading it; its RAM limit is 4GB.

  • Lion upgrade fails on Mac Mini mid 2007 model

I have a mid 2007 model Mac Mini, 1.86 dual core model.  When I try to install Lion I get an error failed because a recovery partition could not be created.  I have freed space, with 30 gigabytes free.  I have tried to clone my hard drive using Disk Utilities and an external drive with the thought of booting to the external drive and using it to clone my main drive, to perform a defrag.  That process also fails.  It gets 99% done and with 7 minutes left it fails to clone the main hard drive to the external.
Can anyone help me from here?

There is no problem if you take the right precautions, there are plenty of guides on youtube like this one

  • Mac mini (mid 2007) can this be ugraded to lion or only snow leopard?

i currently running 10.5.8 with 4gigs of ram and 80 gig harddrive.

A Core Duo Intel Mac can only go to Mac OS X 10.6.8.
A PowerPC Mac mini can only go to Mac OS X 10.5.8.
Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu to find what CPU the computer has. Core Duo isn't the same as Core 2 Duo.

  • How do you plug a VGA monitor to a Mac mini (mid 2011)

I used my older Mac mini (mid 2007)  with a VGA LCD monitor through an "DVI to VGA" adapter with no problems.
However, this older adapter does not fit in the "HDMI to DVI Adapter" supplied with my new Mac mini (mid 2011).
There are no receptacles (holes) in the "HDMI to DVI adapter" for the four pins located around the flat tab on one hand of the older adapter .
Any suggestion on how to plug a LCD VGA monitor to a mid 2011 Mac mini?
I know there is a Thunderbolt port and a HDMI port,
but being able to use an inexpensive VGA monitor for set-up and periodic maintenance,
without having to fire up a huge plasma screen each time, would be nice.
There is no displayport on this mid 2011 Mac mini.
There does not seem to be any HDMI to VGA nor  Thunderbolt to VGA adapters on the market.
    Any suggestions?

The > Apple - Thunderbolt Port is the same as and doubles as a Mini DisplayPort.
Look down at the bottom of > Mac mini (Mid 2011) - Technical Specifications in the Accessories / Displays and Graphics section or on page #33 of your User Guide.

  • HT204144 I am on mac mini (mid 2011) and iphone 6 and trying to use airdrop but it is not working.

I followed all instructions but under mac finder, air drop is simply blank. I have set-up everyone on airdrop on iphone 6 in control center. Am I missing something. I am also on same network.

    I read this paragraph:
In order to transfer files between a Mac and and an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, your iOS device needs iOS 7 or later installed and your Mac needs to be a 2012 or later model. To transfer files between two Mac computers, you need one of the Mac models listed below and OS X Lion or later.
MacBook Pro (Late 2008 or newer)*
MacBook Air (Late 2010 or newer)
    MacBook (Late 2008 or newer)*
    iMac (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Mini (Mid 2010 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2009 with AirPort Extreme card, or Mid 2010)
*The MacBook Pro (17-Inch Late 2008) and the white MacBook (Late 2008) do not support AirDrop.
    --end--
So I am using mac mini mid 2011 and according to this line, I may not use it and need mac 2012, right? but why air drop is showing here on my mac mini is due to fact that transfer between 2 mac computers is possible if one is even of less than 2012 make.
I think I am clear now. Thank you and see if you have any thought on this?

  • How do I download pictures from a Canon 5D Mark III to my Mac mini (mid 2010)

Got a Canon 5D Mark III and I was wondering how I'm going to download the pictures to my Mac mini (mid 2010).  Would I need any special software and a card reader?  Saw a 3.0 USB card reader for sale but didn't think that would work on my Mac mini.  Please confirm.

If the USB 3 card reader states that it is backwards compatible with USB 2, it should work. Otherwise, purchase a USB 2 card reader.

  • How do I pair my new Mac mini (mid 2011) and white Apple Wireless Keyboard (2003)?

I just bought a new Mac mini (mid 2011) and can not set it up via my Apple Wireless Keyboard (2003). I'm disheartened but not surprised that my Bluetooth 4.0 Mac isn't backwards-compatible with my Bluetooth 1.0 keyboard. But I can't find any documentation confirming the fact that my non-paired, but tested & perfectly functioning keyboard will not work with current Macs.
I was however, able to locate a tech support doc (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4112) that mentions my Apple Wireless Keyboard (2003) is not compatible with iOS devices. (Which is not critical because iOS provides a non-physical keyboard. Aside, it would be lovely were Apple to add a non-physical keyboard to Mac OS X, if only so new desktop owners can continue to set up their Macs in a pinch.)

I just bought a new mini mac (lion 2011) with a wireless keyboard.  I could not get the mac to recognise the keyboard.  Spent several hours back with the Genius team who replaced keyboard and mac but did not get anywhere.  They gave me a wired keyboard, was able to configure the mac and then it recognised the wireless keyboard.
Seems this is a problem with the new mac/OS

  • How to output 24 192 true toslink mac mini mid 2010

is there way  that would allow the toslink output to output 24 192 as stated in the specs of the machine on a mac mini mid 2010

Is it possible that the cable is not plugged in completely?
I know on my desktop setup, when I plug in my powered
speakers it feels like it engaged, when in fact it needs to
    be pushed in further.
The reason I bring this up is that anything plugged into
the line out port overrides all other audio interfaces regardless
of what they are.   It is the way this port works on Minis as
well as iMacs.  It follows the old headphone port paradigm.

  • Does a 500 GB SSD work in a Mac Mini (mid 2011)?

I have a Mac Mini (mid 2011), 2.5 GHz and 4 GB of memory.
The iOS app called MacTracker says that this model is "configurable to 256 GB solid-state drive or 256 GB solid-state drive and 750 GB (7200-rpm) hard drive".
I was thinking about buying a Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Single Unit Version Internal Solid State Drive. My doubt is: will it work in my Mac Mini or the maximum storage must be 256 GB? If it runs a 500 GB SSD, a Samsung EVO SSD would be a possible (or a perfect) choice?

The info from MacTracker brings up the options available in a Configuration to Order
at the time the product was new; so that tells people who may have found their unit
bought with odd specs, such upgrade may be due to a CTO Apple factory upgrade.
Other options that can work, of even higher spec capacity, can be researched in
such mac-centric sites as macsales.com and others who have a reputation for
customer service and quality products; many have information on their sites...
Doesn't hurt to ask. OWC macsales may even have an online chat. Info on how
to upgrade Apple products with later parts (out of warranty, etc) is available in
their page as well as iFixit.com guides. Everymac.com also offers spec info.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Mac Mini mid 2011 Mini Dvi to VGA problems

I have a mac mini mid 2011 and I have to connected to a display in work.  The display only has a VGA entrance, so i bought a mini dvi to vga adapter from my local mac store, but when i connected to the display everything looks odd, the whole display has an odd purple look, I have tried to use a different VGA cable but keep having the same problem, I even tried a different display with the same results, anybody knows why this happens and how to fix it?

    Your welcome!
On your end before returning the Adapter,
try > Resetting the System Management Controller
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
    3. Wait fifteen seconds.
    4. Attach the computer's power cord.
    5. Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
and > About NVRAM and PRAM
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.
then if that doesn't help, return the adapter and explain the problem to the Apple tech person at the store.
