Mac Mini mid 2011 Windows 7 64 Bit crashes to blue screen after install of Boot Camp Drivers

Hello.
I have installed Windows 7 64 bit on my Mac Mini mid 2011. After the install, I install the Bootcamp Drivers and then after the restart it starts to load and then crashes. Is there some trick to get it to work, It runs fine if I do not install the drivers, but not much works on it.
Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi,
Same thing here - but on Mac mini mid 2010...
I have installed the newest drivers downloaded via Boot Camp Assistant 4.0 (from Lion 10.7.1) on Windows 7 64-bit but the updated graphic driver causes my both screens (monitor - MiniDisplayPort and TV - HDMI) to go black, and eventually computer restarts or freezes.
I did some checks reinstalled whole windows, narrowed search to graphisc drivers and can confirm that up to BootCamp version 3.3 (nvidia ver. 19x.x) everything is fine but drivers from Boot Camp 4.0 (nvidia ver. 26x.x) simply render Windows 7 in 64-bit variant useless.
I look forward to some sort of solution or update from Apple as soon as poddible...!!

  • Windows 7 wont boot after install of boot camp drivers

I have been trying to get boot camp on imac mid 2010 with Maverick.   TodayI used
    Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5621
    The first set of drivers
    Boot Camp Support Software 5.0.5033
kept crashing on windows. Today I noticed a new set of drivers, well its the same issue. If I leave off the boot camp drivers windows is fine, except no sound and other driver missing issues but it works. The problem seems to be Mav or the drivers, before updating to Mav everything was fine. Sometimes I can even get to the windows log on screen, at one point I was able to log on and do things. So being smart, I restarted and the problem came back.  Who says Macs dont have issues.
    Any thoughts

Just ran into this same issue.
My problem got resolved after using the x64 version DVD of Win7 (just x64 instead of the DVD that had both x86 and x64 versions).
    What I did:
    My host is Windows 8.1
After installing Windows 7 x64 as VM on my 8.1 based laptop two days ago, I wanted to do the same on my desktop PC, but I had the same issue described here.
I used a DVD just with the x64 version for my laptop and a DVD with both x86 and x64 version for my desktop.
Tried repairing as advised by a post, but got the error: "This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible
with the version of Windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of windows."
I exported and imported the VM from my laptop to my desktop to test it and it ran with no problems.
So I tried the DVD that had just the x64 version of Win7 and that installed without issues.
I'm curious if this happens only when a DVD with more than one Win7 versions is used.

  • Windows 8 Release Preview on Mac Mini mid 2011

I was wondering if its possible to install Windows 8 Release Preview on a Mac Mini mid 2011 via Bootcamp (Mainly for gaming purposes)

I've finally got it installed on my HP Touchsmart 610-1000t (or whatever the number is).....
    Apparently it's a graphics card/driver issue.
I downloaded the enterprise final release and it did the same thing to me (black screen etc etc).
In the end, I highly doubt some of these models are compatible with windows 8 if the final release is giving me the same problem.  The only difference is- now the sleep button worked, so I fiddled around with it until I got it fully installed (user created).  After doing so, I booted into Safe mode and disabled the graphics driver/restarted and it booted up fine/works fine.  Every now and then it crashes on IE10.  I wasn't able to test the touch capabilities during the releases between developer and final, so it wasn't until now I can finally test the functionarlity of ALL the gesture functionality.  I can say, the combination of the touch screen desktop and short cut keys makes everything so much quicker and easier.  I perfer windows 8 over windows 7 on my touchscreen, finally the touchscreen experience is much better! Of course I still use my keyboard and mouse.  The touch pinning/swiping is awesome.  I can't say the same for normal desktops in a corporate environment (without touchscreens).....I can say however- windows 8 tablets would be really nice in place of my Ipad or my laptop that I carry around from meeting to meeting, thus the reason I'm waiting for the Surface!  CItrix and apps can only take you so far.

  • Mac mini mid 2011 and logic pro 9 in 64-bit?

    Hi,
I have a mac mini mid 2011 with a 2.7HGz intel core i7 processor and 8 GB of RAM. I have been using Logic Pro 9 in 32-bit mode and tried switching to 64-bit mode. I unchecked the "open in 32-bit mode" in the "get inf" section, but logic still opens in 32-bit mode.
My question is: Can my computer run Logic Pro 9 in 64-bit mode???
    Thankyou!

    Hi there jdtay2,
It looks like your model of Mac Mini does have a 64-bit processor according to the article "How to tell if your Intel-based Mac has a 32-bit or 64-bit processor"

As far as opening Logic Pro in 64-bit mode, you will first want to make sure that you have the most updated version, as 64-bit support was added in the v9.1 update. The article below has more information about Logic Pro and 64-bit mode.

According to the copy&paste from wikipedia, HDMI should support higher resolution than 1920x1200. So the question is, does it aupport that on the mid 2011 mac mini. It says in the specifications
"Mac mini is designed to work with HDMI devices that comply with versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.2a, 1.3, 1.3a, and 1.4 of the HDMI specification."
That should mean it should be able to support it, but I don't know : <

  • Mac Mini (mid 2011) ram slot has failed: Any others experiencing?

This seems similar to this problem, mentioned in a number of threads covering MacBooks, best described here: MacBook Pro loses access to 1 memory slot upon shutdown or reboot in OS X 10.8.1
I'm having the same issue with a Mid-2011 Mac Mini (purchased June 2013).  As in that linked tread, overheating after OS upgrade (in my case , Mavericks) seems to be related.  I had constant crashes at sleep beginning about three weeks ago, and three tones at boot.  For about two weeks I could get it to reboot by unplugging and giving it some time. Until today. Cleaned. Tested both chips in both possible slots, but will always get three tones when either chip is in top slot, fine when that slot is empty. Hardware test appears to just ignore an empty slot, so really not helpful (and won't boot with filled slot).
It appears the only real fix is a new logic board, which appears is almost as expensive as buying a new machine.
I'm not going to get into "loosening screws" as suggested in linked discussion, but that may work for a powerbook.
It does sounds like heat related warping. I saw early heating problems with this after 10.9.5 upgrade.  Ended up building a special vertical stand (Mini's venting is rather poor) and installed "Temperature Monitor" by Marcel Bresink Software, which I recommend, and uninstalled some things (including killing a Mac update process that was running constantly) .  This got the heat under control, but it looks like the damage was done. Now I'm running on one 8gb memory chip, which dramatically shortens the life of the machine.  It won't be a candidate for a Yosemite upgrade coming shortly.
Must say I'm pretty disappointed in "Apple quality". Had similar experience (repeated shorts of logic board, replaced 3 times) with a MacBook c.1997, when Apple Co. was looking like it might not survive, and lots of folks were having such problems.  But at least then they would repair it for free. Given the premium price (without premium quality), I think this will be my last Mac, after having started with a Plus in the 1980s.

Mac Mini mid 2011, installed 2x 4GB memory when first got this machine, has worked well till this year 2015 when it slowed way down and I found memory slot #2 was not working.  I swapped the cards and also reinstalled the original mac memory, still only half of the memory is detected in one slot.  It is always the same slot, not dependent on the memory card.  A mac mini which never gets moved.  Mar. 2, 2015

  • Mac Mini (mid 2011) Display Issues

    Hello.
Recently I started having some issues with the display from my Mac Mini (mid 2011, core i7, 8GB, OS X 10.9). During usage the screen started flickering erratically and then went blank. I turned the Mac off and found that it was very hot so I removed the bottom cover and the RAM chips and gave it a bit of a clean (it was quite dusty) then I allowed it to cool before putting it back together. After putting it back together it worked for about a day until it had the same problem.
Now on startup the following occurs:
    1. On the start-up screen (where the Apple logo is displayed) the screen is overwhelmingly pink (display RGB settings are fine), except for the left half of the Apple logo which remains grey.
    2. After progressing through the start-up screen the display goes white and nothing further happens.
I have checked the display and it works fine. The HDMI cable is not the issue either.
Does anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this and a possible fix?
If it is of any help the monitor is an ASUS MT276H.
    Thanks.

So I have tried a SMC reset and all that has changed is the front indicator light is off and the fan has kicked it up to 11. Please find a picture of the display I described earlier at the following link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wirrc01xut3p8tx/Photo%201-12-2013%2010%2054%2004%20pm. jpg (sorry it was taken with an iPhone 4).
I have never performed an SMC reset before but it seems like it is taking a long time and/or not working. I'm at a loss to what this might be.

  • Mac Mini (Mid-2011 Core i7) Slow after Yosemite Upgrade

I've searched the other "slow after Yosemite upgrade" threads but those seem to relate to Core Duo 2 machines with less RAM.  I have a Core i7 MM w/ 8GB of RAM, after the Yosemite upgrade it constantly lags, I can barely type on it these days because the text lags so badly.  It's unusable to say the least.  Is there anything I can do to speed it up?  There must be a reason why the performance is so bad.

  • Mac mini (mid 2011) to Samsung led tv via hdmi connection problem.

    Samsung led tv - UE32D5000
    Mac mini (mid 2011)
On regular monitor (connected by hdmi to dvi cable) setup teamviewer
    Try to:
    1. Connect different hdmi cables - dose not work (on apple tv - both cables work)
    2. Connect hdmi cable to different hdmi ports.
    3. On tv change type of source - PC, PC-DVI and other.
By teamviewer I watched what was going on the computer - Mac mini does not recognize tv like monitor by pressing 'seek monitor'.

Aha! Similar problem here; Mini (Intel, Macmini2,1, the 2007 version with the larger HDI port not the smaller one)
Problem seems to happen only with both HDMI and USB connected (USB only to use the built-in webcam on the monitor, an AOC V22+ (which I love, it's a very nice monitor; LED instead of fluorescent backlight).
Sometimes it would suddenly switch to where the dock and menu bars and status bar were hidden (the desktop gets 'too big for the screen).
Then I'd go to the Display settings and unselect "overscan"
Then it'd be OK for a while, then switch to a big black space around the desktop window, lots of unused screen).
Then I'd go to the Display settings and reselect "overscan" and it'd be Ok.
    For a while.
There really ought not be a need to fiddle with 'overscan' at all -- since I'm not using this as a television. Mac OS 10.3.6 seems to mistakenly think the monitor is being used as a TV -- maybe when there's a video in a browser window?
    Not sure.
Anyhow it becomes a rock-paper-scissors problem where I have to keep chasing the settings to undo whatever it changes to at random, Lather rinse repeat.
Seems like it's only a problem for me when I have the USB cable also connected, to use the built-in webcam -- so I don't use that now.
The AOC folks have been working hard on solving this.
I just found this topic and have referred them here.
They'll be glad to know it's not their problem, I guess.
(does it happen on Apple brand displays too? I'm not sure)

  • I have a mac mini mid 2011, this device have; 2,3GHz and 2 Gb Memmory.I want to upgrade the memory and i need the list of supported memory modules

i have a mac mini mid 2011, this device have; 2,3GHz and 2 Gb Memmory.I want to upgrade the memory and i need the list of supported memory modules. i am from turkey.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The Mid 2011 Mac mini supports 8 GB of memory officially, but you can install up to 16 GB of RAM, so you can use 2, 4 and 8 GB modules. You can buy more RAM from OWC or Crucial.
If you are looking for memory at a local shop, make sure you buy 1333 MHz DDR3 memory. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4432?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

  • Does a 500 GB SSD work in a Mac Mini (mid 2011)?

I have a Mac Mini (mid 2011), 2.5 GHz and 4 GB of memory.
The iOS app called MacTracker says that this model is "configurable to 256 GB solid-state drive or 256 GB solid-state drive and 750 GB (7200-rpm) hard drive".
I was thinking about buying a Samsung Electronics 840 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Single Unit Version Internal Solid State Drive. My doubt is: will it work in my Mac Mini or the maximum storage must be 256 GB? If it runs a 500 GB SSD, a Samsung EVO SSD would be a possible (or a perfect) choice?

The info from MacTracker brings up the options available in a Configuration to Order
at the time the product was new; so that tells people who may have found their unit
bought with odd specs, such upgrade may be due to a CTO Apple factory upgrade.
Other options that can work, of even higher spec capacity, can be researched in
such mac-centric sites as macsales.com and others who have a reputation for
customer service and quality products; many have information on their sites...
Doesn't hurt to ask. OWC macsales may even have an online chat. Info on how
to upgrade Apple products with later parts (out of warranty, etc) is available in
their page as well as iFixit.com guides. Everymac.com also offers spec info.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Mac Mini mid 2011 Mini Dvi to VGA problems

I have a mac mini mid 2011 and I have to connected to a display in work.  The display only has a VGA entrance, so i bought a mini dvi to vga adapter from my local mac store, but when i connected to the display everything looks odd, the whole display has an odd purple look, I have tried to use a different VGA cable but keep having the same problem, I even tried a different display with the same results, anybody knows why this happens and how to fix it?

    Your welcome!
On your end before returning the Adapter,
try > Resetting the System Management Controller
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
    3. Wait fifteen seconds.
    4. Attach the computer's power cord.
    5. Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
and > About NVRAM and PRAM
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.
then if that doesn't help, return the adapter and explain the problem to the Apple tech person at the store.

  • Mac Mini (Mid 2011) display artifacts HDMI to DVI at native res

    Hello,
I recently changed monitor configurations and in the process moved my Mac Mini (Mid 2011) to a HP LP2065 monitor.  The connection is made through the stock supplised HDMI to DVI adapter.   The monitor and the DVI cable work successfully with other machines.
What occurs is only certain colors, usually black,  result in the display being red and/or sparkling and/or static (like TV static) when the monitor is set at its native resolution of 1600x1200.
If I bump the resolution down to 1280x1024, or lower,  the black color returns and I see no display glitches.   If I bring the resolution back up to 1600x1200,  the display artifacts return.
A few google searches suggest I use a DisplayPort to DVI adapter instead as some monitors are "finicky".   Does anyone agree with that?  It seems peculiar to me -- why would a digital signal have analog-looking glitches?
Any ideas welcome.. thanks for reading

Your monitor has a native pixel resolution of 1920x1200.  There is no point in trying for 1080-p or -i.
I run two 1920x1200 monitors via HDMI (with passive cable adapters where necessary) and I use these choices:
...and they are both pixel-sharp, filling the screen, and yet menu bars totally visible!
