Mac mini, mybookwd, two ipods

I and my son both have user accounts on the mac mini. We both have our own libraries on itunes and purchase from the same itunes account (have different libraries tho).
I am trying to move our collections to the mybook external hd. First I copied his music file to the hd and then changed his location under Itunes-preferences-settings.
Then when I tried to copy my music file, it told me that there was already a file by that name, did I want to overwrite it? No, I did not want to overwrite it. So then i went into finder and made a new file called Kathys music and copied my music file into that file. I renamed the location file on itunes like before. I then deleted the file on my macmini hd. My itunes library remains empty. I have tried other paths (ie further down the path: mybook-kathys music-music-itunes music (etc.). What am I doing wrong? How do I allow for both music files on the mybook hd?

Okay, I have followed all of the directions on changing the directory that itunes goes to for the itunesmusic file. It just doesn't work. I get nothing. This is very annoying.
I have gone to iTunes-preferences--advanced--general
Change folder
(I go through the entire directory from drive to itunesmusic)
Then "choose" then OK.
Nothing happens. I have a blank music list.
Can someone help?

One of the Mac Mini systems connected to my iphone G4 as well as Ipad 64-Wifi, work perfect to sunchronise. ( IO5 is present)
I would like to run the changes i made with cloud to the other Mac mini system, but this doesn't work.

How to stream files from Mac Mini HDD to iPod Touch/Android?

Hey guys, I just want to be able to stream videos, music and photos from my Mac Mini to my iPod Touch and Android device.

Plug the iPod USB connection to the Mac mini and launch iTunes.
Under the "Devices" tab on the left side of the iTunes window you should see your iPod. Click on it and you should be able to find your iTunes Library.
You can pick the entire library to sync just selected items. Videos can also ba added to your iTunes Library and can be loaded onto the iPod. To remove an item just remove the check mark next to it in iTunes.

I haven't purchased a Mac Mini at this time and I may not if I can't use it as a non server. I need to update my system I would be better off buying a new Mac with Snow Leopard the last app that will run Rosetta. The Mac Mini Server has a quad 2.0 processor and 4 GB RAM and two internal hard drives and should out perform my dual 1.25 G4. I can run PPC apps on my G4 but it is 8+ years old and seems to be getting noisy. I don't want to tie myself to another old machine. I want a machine that will work with Intel Apps I was hoping that the two hard drives would allow me to boot from the second with Snow Leopard and use Lion on the first drive to be able to keep up to date with all my other universal apps and Mac OS up grades. The application I use the most is my CanvasX app with drawing & vector effects, text & typography, sprite technology, painting, image editing, and multimedia tools are all in this one app but will not be updated to run Intel apps. I am frozen in time because my most valuable Application won't be updated and Apple has cut me off by not supporting PPC in Lion and onward; Apple used to backward support but I guess that they are no longer as user friendly and concerned with a happy user. I have always been a loyal Mac user and I will not migrate to Windows under any circumstance; I hate windows!

The Mid 2010 Mini has
1 × HDMI Port (Includes HDMI to DVI Adapter)
1 × Mini DisplayPort
The Mid 2011 and late 2012 have
1 × HDMI Port (Includes HDMI to DVI Adapter)
1 × Thunderbolt Port
You can purchase a mini display port to DVI and mini display port to VGA adopters. Those adopters also works with the thunderbolt port.

Itunes / mac mini not seeing ipod

When I plug my ipod into the mac mini (usb) my mac doesn't recognize or see it. That means I can't update any songs on my ipod from my itunes library. I've tried:
- resetting the ipod,
- uninstalling and reinstalling itunes,
- plugging the ipod directing into the usb port on the mini base and the monitor usb port,
- putting the ipod in disk mode and
Still my mac does not see the ipod.
Upgraded to iTunes 7.2 a few weeks ago. It's been working fine the last couple of weeks.

Mac Mini and two IPAD2s

Hello,
I have 2 IPAD2s and a Mac Mini. I have tried all morning to link the 3 of them together wirelessly to share the same data. Basically, this is for a home-based small business and the 2 Ipads will be used in the field to write invoices that will then be sent back to the main database on the mini. I set the mini for both IPADs to back up to the mini, but the test file isn't showing up back in the main database. Also, the files aren't updating in itunes. Any thoughts?

Mac Mini with two VGA displays

Hello. I have a MacMini (2.4 Core 2 Duo) recently connected to 2 Dell E197FP screens. The main screen works fine (HDMI to VGA) but the second screen is blank (Mini DVI to VGA) even though it is recognised in Displays and I can set the resolution. Any help? Thanks in advance.

I solved it myself with a trip to the computer shop.
It seemed to be the chain of connectors coming out of the Mini Display Port (not Mini DVI as mentioned previously) to the monitor. I was using a MDP to DVI/DVI to VGA chain. I've just bought a MDP to VGA and it now works fine.

The new Mac mini has two dispay ports, the mini-DVI and a mini-DisplayPort. You can attach a display to each port with the proper adapters. It also comes with a mini-DVI to DVI adapter.

PC to Mac mini, help please

Hi, I'm still new to Mac and even newer to things like networking.
I have a PC that has over 800 songs that I want to transfer into my Mac mini before my iPod Shuffle arrives through the mail.
The reason is the many problems that the Shuffle has when interacting with Windows PCs according to Apple Discussions. I want to move the PC out of the way and into the basement as soon as this is done
So my question is how do I transfer my songs without burning 800 songs to CDs? Can I hook up the two computers through the ethernet ports?
The PC has no firewire ports but has usb ports.
Do I need software to do the transfers also? If so is there any free software on the web to use?

Jesse Jay when I try the smb://... I keep getting "The Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "smb://..." could not be read or written (error code -36)" any clues what this means?
kd5bloc you stated "The second solution was much easier...Enable the networking from the Mac, and finding it via Windows". Maybe this will work if it will allow Mac to compy music files from PC, but once networking is enabled on the Mac how do you find it using Windows?
To anyone else who has or knows how to connect a Mac Panther to PC XP directly through ethernet for the purposes of transfering music files from the PC to the Mac please by all means leave instructions or links to articles on the web if you know any.
