Mac Mini not connecting to Network

Hello,
My mac mini does not connect to the network. I have DSL modem, connected to an Airport Express. The light on the Airport Express is green, but it just is connecting. I've tried everything but I cannot get it to connect.
Please Help!!

Reset the airport not just press the reset button, but hold it down for about 5 seconds.

  • Mac is not connecting to network systems with names it's only connecting with the IP address why?

Mac is not connecting to network systems with names.
It's only connecting with the IP address why?

It sounds like a problem with the domain name server. Be sure you are using the correct DNS in System Preferences > Network, and if you are make sure it is functioning correctly.
    Best of luck.

  • Mac Mini not connecting to Wi Fi network - 10.5.5?

My Mac Mini won't connect to my wirelss network - although my iPhone, iMac and laptop are fine. It used to, but suddenly not any more. Is this related to the 10.5.5 update? I'm having a stab at trying to fix the Time Machine "can't get MAC address" bug, and thought I'd switch from wired to wireless to see if it made any difference, but I can't. Anyone any ideas?

It did briefly once, but now Airport just says "scanning" all the time. I'm plugged in via ethernet usually which continues to work fine. My wireless network is also visible and working fine to my 2 iMacs, iPhone and (non Apple) laptop. No error messages, just can't see the wireless network. The network has WEP security. I tried switching it off but that didn't make any difference.

  • Mac Mini not connecting to internet

    Hi,
I have a Mac Mini Intel Core 2 Duo that I use with my TV. It has 2 GB of ram. And it's running 10.6.8,
I have a time capsule that all my devices use to connect to the internet. All of them are working (Macbook Air, iPhones, iPad...).
The Mini is conncected to the time capsules network but will not load an internet page.  I have turned off my routers, unplugged all connections, waited a bit and then restarted everything. Nothing seems to be working.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!

The network address is probably not shown but the subset mask should be the same as the the Air and the default gateway is probably labeled as router.
You say the Air is connected to WiFi which I presume is your router were as the Mini is connected to the airport.
Does the Mini work if you select to connect to WiFi instead of Airport?
I am guessing on how your network is setup.
    1. You have a router that connects to the internet and includes WiFi.
    2. The TC connects by Ethernet to the Router and also provides a WifI signal labelled Airport.
    3. Your TC is in Bridge mode for its network.
If this is not how you have it set up could you clarify.

  • Mac Mini not connecting at all to TV via HDMI

I have my 2012 Mac Mini plugged in to a SAMSUNG TV with an HDMI cable. It was working fine when I left work Thursday - I am trying to get it to connect today and it will not pick up the signal. Any help or troubleshooting ideas?

    1. Check the TV menu to besure that nothing has changed.
    2. Try a new or different HDMI cable.
    3. Reset the > NVRAM and PRAM
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    3. Turn on the computer.
    4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    6. Release the keys.
Then if those do not solve the problem, contact Apple Support or your local AASP and have it check out.

  • Mac mini not connecting thru yamaha receiver

Hi, first time Mac user and first time poster here!
I unboxed my Mac mini today and first connected it via hdmi to my yamaha a/v receiver (RX-V667). This is how my tv and Blu Ray are connected as well, and then I have one single hdmi output to my tv.
there was no display on my tv. If I connect the Mac directly to the tv, then it works. The yamaha handles everything else fine (Oppo blu Ray, direct tv cable box, Xbox 360) but not the Mac. Why would this be?
ANy help is greatly appreciated.  I'd like to avoid running 2 inputs into my tv
    thanks!

I am using a Yamaha RX-V467 in a similar manner and it works just fine.
My connection to the Mini is HDMI->HDMI.  FWIW, mine is a 2011 Mini Server
running Yosemite (previously was a 2010 Mini connected identically with no issues).
The cables could be an an issue.
Also, you may want to try a PRAM reset (OS X Yosemite: Reset your computer’s PRAM)
or an SMC reset (Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) - Apple Support).

  • Ipod to powerpc Mac Mini not connecting..

I just found an older ipod i've had for a while and went to hook it up to my Mac Mini and my computer didn't recognize it and for the record the ipod has been restored to factory settings and there is nothing on it. The ipod is getting power as it's charging, but my computer won't recognize it and won't show up in my dock, in itunes, etc., and i basically can't use it. I'm hooking it up through the usb.
I hooked it up to my friends non-mac windows laptop, and it recognized it instantly without any problems.
    Any ideas? Thanks

"Figured it out" isn't helpful when you don't say how you fixed the problem. I had the same issue, came here looking for an answer. After reading your (unhelpful) answer I also figured it out: For posterity, I am including details of what worked for me.
Simple, really: Reset the iPod. Hold down Menu+Center button until the Apple logo appears, then reconnect it to the Mini once it displays the main screen again. The Mini should see the iPod at this point, without loss of any data on the device.

    Any Idea??

Hi, this has worked for a few...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
    10.4 instructions...
Is that Interface dragged to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations.
    If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
For 10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
    Click OK.

  • I intend to purchase a Mac Mini and connect to a regular (not smart) flat screen TV and use such as monitor. Can this setup also allow access to Netflix or Apple movies or an Apple TV is also required?

I intend to purchase a Mac Mini and connect to a regular (not Smart) flat screen TV that will be as such a large monitor. With this setup do I require an additional Apple TV to watch programs from Netflix, Apple Store movies, Y-tube etc?

You can view NetFlix and YouTube via their websites on a Mac computer. You can purchase/play iTunes movies and other thing via iTunes on the Mac.

When installing HP 3054 wireless printer continue to get a message saying my mac is not connected to the network, but it is....What do i try?

looks like this is your network connection settings problem, you'd better only keep one network adaptor online and linked, if you do not understand how to setup windows routing, this is completely not firefox problem. buddy. wish you goodluck.

  • Mac-Mini wont connect to wired ethernet

I can not get my Mac-Mini to connect to the internet via a wired ethernet cable. When I try to connect it says it is getting an IP address and then boots out and tries again. Its a never ending cycle. It does this in both OS X, and Windows. Do I have a bum network card?

    Hi Steve,
Some ISPs can be fussy about the number of devices you connect to the internet.
If the Modem routes then it tends to be this network card that is in effect "registered" with the ISP.
If you have a cable modem then a Router then the router tends to be the device "registered".
If no router then that is obviously you computer's MAC address.
Some ISPs will go as far as requesting to actually type in the MAC card address and formally request to change it.
It sounds like you have here a system of monitoring that is not that "up front" and causes problems enough for people to have several computers and just swap them.
I would guess it allows one change, like you would need if you have a new computer.

  • Can mac mini work connected to imac desktop

can mac mini work connected to imac desktop. I know its silly question but can i make the mac mini main operating system on my imac after transferring all of my itunes etc?

    What is Target Display mode?
But only 27" iMac (Late 2009 or Mid 2010) can do this.
Since you mentioned an Early 2009 iMac I assume that it is a 24" iMac which sadly has not this capability.
If I am correct, you might wanna have a look at ScreenRecycler http://www.screenrecycler.com/ScreenRecycler.html

What is the best way to use wi-fi to transfer pdf files from an ipad to a mac mini, not using an internet, just wi-fi?

If the Mac use Lion (10.7) you can use Airdrop for that.
With Mac's not using Lion you may set up a computer to computer (ad hoc) connection.
