Hi Dan
Have you confirmed that the Netgear Powerline adaptor works fine with other computers on your network?
On your mini, if you go into System Preferences - Network - Built-in Ethernet, what are your TCP/IP settings? Are they the same as for the iMac?

  • Mac mini unable to connect to internet

I just bought a Mac mini Core Duo and tried to connect to internet through my existing router (D-Link DI-714P+). My router is working find with my 2 existing PC desktop (wired) and a PC notebook (wireless). My Mac mini seems to be able to detect and connect to my network but not internet. When I tried to access the internet, the message "You are not connected to the internet" appears. I also tried to disable the security of my network by disabling the WEP and WPA but it still won't work.
    Any help?

    Kim,
    Welcome to the discussions!
DId you log into your router and make sure it has extra DHCP addresses to hand out? Some have limits to only let 3 or 5 or 10 computers attach at one point.
Also - best to connect it with a wire first. Make sure it works fine with DHCP and then enable the wireless. There is no problem having both active all the time - you can troubleshoot and test both - and once the wireless works, disconnect the wired connection...
Lastly - open Safari the next time you can't get an address using wireless only. Click on the "network diagnostics" button - it is a really good tool to review your network settings and prompt you to restart the other devices at the correct times to see if the problem is elsewhere.
Post back what you try - there's a good chance we can help you out.

  • HT4623 After ios update on my ipad mini i am unable to connect to internet via cellular connection

i Have update ios 7.0.2 on my ipad mini. But after update of ios 7.0.2 i am unable to connect to internet via cellulau connection. Cellular connection appears on my screen but i get error as "Could not activate cellular data network you are not subscribed to a cellular data service". Cellular connection was working prior to ios 7.0.2 update. Please help.

    GOT MINE FIXED -
THE 7.0.3 update reported my iPhone as LOST or STOLEN  to Verizon.
They suspended my iPhone service immediately (as I would expect them to) and THAT is why I couldn't get on.
Called Verizon wireless - they restored me in 30 seconds - EVERYTHING WORKS AGAIN.
They said "we've been doing this ALL MORNING."
Hope this works for others, too!

Enabling Oracle Management Service to Access My Oracle Support
Unless online access to the Internet is strictly forbidden in your environment, Oracle Management Service should be enabled to access My Oracle Support. This access is necessary to enable updates and patches to be downloaded, for example.
At minimum, the following URLs should be made available through the firewall:
    aru-akam.oracle.com
    ccr.oracle.com
    login.oracle.com
    support.oracle.com
    updates.oracle.com
    About the dontProxyfor Property
When you configure the Oracle Management Service or a Management Agent to use a proxy server, it is important to understand the purpose of the dontProxyFor property, which identifies specific URL domains for which the proxy will not be used.
For example, suppose the following were true:
You have installed the Oracle Management Service and several Management Agents on hosts that are inside the company firewall. These hosts are in the internal .example.com and .example.us.com domains.
You have installed several additional Management Agents on hosts that are outside the firewall. These hosts are installed in the .example.uk domain.
You have configured Enterprise Manager to automatically check for critical software patches on My Oracle Support.
In this scenario, you want the Oracle Management Service to connect directly to the Management Agents inside the firewall without using the proxy server. On the other hand, you want the Oracle Management Service to use the proxy server to contact the Management Agents outside the firewall, as well as the My Oracle Support site, which resides at the following URL:
    http://support.oracle.com
The following properties will prevent the Oracle Management Service from using the proxy server for connections to the Management Agents inside the firewall. Connections to My Oracle Support and to Management Agents outside the firewall will be routed through the proxy server:
    proxyHost=proxy42.example.com
    proxyHost=80
    dontProxyFor=.example.com, .example.us.com
PS: Cygwin has nothing to do with My Oracle Support connection. Cygwin is ONLY required for agent deployment using agent push from OMS.

  • Mac Mini won't connect to internet "ISP Failed"

My 2012 Mac Mini isn't connecting wirelessly to the internet. All of my other devices connect perfectly. It was working when we first set it up in our new house a few days ago. And now randomly it will not. It continues to say that I am connected to the network but that the ISP, Internet, and Server have failed. In the Network Diagnostics the IPS, Internet, and Server are also jumping from red to yell to green to yellow. I am on OS 10.9.4, 2.5 GHz i5, 16GB ram. Any ideas how to get it to work?

Start up in Recovery mode. In the OS X Utilities screen, select Get Help Online. A clean copy of Safari will launch. No plugins, such as Flash, will be available. While in Recovery, you'll have no access to your saved bookmarks or passwords, so make a note of those before you begin, if they're needed for the test.
Test. After testing, restart as usual and post the results.

  • Mac mini won't connect to internet

I brought a new mini mac over Christmas and its been great. Until recently I decides not to connect to the Internet. I have a Bt Home hub that several apple products connect to without an issue. But my mac mini doesn't connect so easily if at all.
I find the network on the wifi search, click to connect and it keeps telling me the Password is wrong, even though its been connected before and all my other devices use it.
    What can i do?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sam

Power off and then back on the router
Create another network loctation and see if that resolves the problem

  • Nokia 3230 unable to connect to internet via USB c...

when i use CA-53 cable to connect to internet using nokia pc suite7.0.8.2 (one touch access) an error message pops up "unable to connect to the speified device make sure the modem is configured properly" but i can easily connect to internet via bluetooth   other functions like file manager , contacts , messages and back up can be accessed by using the CA-53 cable

I called a vw dealership (in South Australia) today because I have an iphone5 and a Tiguan and experienced the same thing (after i had purchased the lightening/30pin adapter).
I was advised that the media interface software is not compatible with iphone5.  VW will eventually update the software according to ol'mate at the dealership, but it will be at an expense to the consumer allegedly.
I know that there is a iphone/vw media cable one can purchase from VW however, I believe this to only work with iphone4 or older?
Maybe try an older generation ipod to use for the car if all ur music is in itunes?
if anyone can correct me, I'd be more than happy to know... going to try my older generation ipad and see if there is any truth to the tale.... eventually.  Until then i'll stream via bluetooth :-)

  • Mac mini won't connect to my wireless router!

I just bought my mac mini server then connected it to wifi, then after 2 weeks I had to go abroad for a week so I just turned off the switch connecting to my mac, without switching off my mac mini server. then when I get back home my mac mini won't connect to my wifi. I tried everything from manually setting up IP and DHCP nothing works. What happened?
    thanks for help,
    Jakarta

I didn't reset the machine/router itself because 2 of my computer is still connected to wifi-and working perfectly, but the mac mini server cannot connect to wifi.
what I did was to set up the "networking utilities"-having said that, what I did was to connect all over again to wifi, this did not work. I did tried to change from DHCP to manually set up IP, neither of these didn't work.
    I'm now stucked!

For the past few days my Mac Mini has been having issues.
Safari won't connect to internet, but Firefox does.
Time and date are frozen. Only resets when copmuter is re-booted.
Unable to update via App Store and iTunes won't connect either.
    Please advise.

    Hi again,
Let me ask for some better help for you that is familiar with this problem (if in fact it is a similar problem with the IP address and your ISP.
The other topic concerning this can be found at:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2725608
It is a somewhat lengthy thread but may just apply to your situation.
Anyways I will see if I can call on some better help for you. Hang in there. Best to arm yourself with enough info before contacting Comcast so they might know what you are dealing with fully.

edit: I have posted for some extra help for you that may have a better idea of what's going on if it is your ISP and their modem and how it handles the IP address causing Safari and iTunes not to connect. Hang in there it may take awhile but I'm sure someone will pop in to help.

  • Unable to connect to Internet via Airport Express - 'cannot contact server'

I'm unable to connect to the internet via my Airport Express. I'm using OS 10.3.9, and had the same setup with no problems at a previous address, but with a different modem from the same ISP.
My AE is connected - the light is green - and my mac is connected to the network in Internet Connect. But when I open Safari I get an 'unable to contact server' message.
I've tried rebooting everything (modem, AE, Mac), and leaving modem/AE off for several minutes. Also reset the AE, but to no avail.
The connection works fine via Ethernet cable.
    Any ideas?

Thanks, I checked out that advice doc (106798), but could not connect to the address (http://17.149.160.49) which is given to test if it's a DNS issue. My ISP says I shouldn't need DNS settings.
The service is PPPoE, and I went into Airport Admin Utility to check if the Airport was configured for this. Under Configure/Internet, I found it was set to 'Ethernet', so changed it to PPPoE. Then when I restarted I got connection status in the bar (and good Airport signal), but status flipped between 'looking for PPPoE host' and 'negotiating PPPoE host', sometimes sticking on one or the other each time I tried rebooting all gear.
    Any other ideas?

  • Mac Mini unable to connect to wireless

    Hello there,
    I have a 1.66ghz Mac Mini with OSX 10.4.11
I am trying to connect to my wireless router but am having some difficulty. The Airport can see my router in the menu, and when I enter the password, it processes for about 30 seconds then says "There was an error joining the AirPort network".
I know the connection works, because I am using it right now on my macbook with Leopard 10.5.6.
I am using a Netgear wireless router model no. WGT624
Apparently the connection works when I connect via ethernet.
Any help would be much appreciated.

There is no need to upgrade to MacOS 10.5 to resolve this - MacOS 10.4.x was perfectly capable of connecting to wireless routers, and there are untold numbers of Macs running various versions of Tiger which are used daily on wifi.
Most issues with connection failures of this sort are caused by issues with security. As such, a good place to start is to temporarily disable your router's wifi security so that it is an open network, and then try and connect with the mini. If it fails then, you know it's an issue with the mini and signal quality because your MacBook connects OK (thus the router is working correctly). In that case you could obtain a copy of AP Grapher (http://www.chimoosoft.com/products/apgrapher/) on the mini (after connecting it via ethernet which you say works) and looking at the wifi signal the mini is seeing - it seems likely at that point you'll find the signal is low, or rather variable, or the trace for noise is high, meaning there is significant interference. This can create a situation where the system can 'see' the router via wifi, but fails to connect due to time out errors.
If it the mini connects with the security off, then the issue is the type of security or perhaps that the password is not being entered correctly.

  • Mac mini won't connect to internet two days after installing 10.4.4

Two days after I installed 10.4.4 on my Mac mini. It will no longer connect to the internet. At first I thought it was just the airport extreme card malfunctioning. So today I turned off the airport extreme card, and tried the built-in ethernet and I'm having the same problem. The odd thing with the airport extreme card is that it showing that its connected to the right network but won't do anything.
    Any suggestions?
Mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Hmm, this is interesting. I seem to be having the
same problem. I too have a Mac Mini and upgraded to
10.4.4 a couple of days ago. It doesn't seem to be
pulling an IP address from our DHCP server(Win and
Lin clients are working fine), and when I give it a
static IP, I can't ping anything from the Mini.
However, I can ping the Mini from other
boxes. It does it with wifi as well as ethernet. I
know the wifi AP is working fine - other clients are
running with it, and the Cat5 I used to connect the
Mini to a switch should be working fine(it was what
the access point is/was using to connect to the
    switch).
Maybe its totally unrelated, but it your situation
    seems eerily similar to mine.
It does your situation does sound very close to mine. Like you said in your post I can ping the mini from other machines and I get responses back, but I can't ping anything from the mini.
The more I think about this problem I'm not sure if its hardware related, software related, or both. I wish I had another hard drive that I could boot from externally to see if my theory is correct.

  • Mac mini won't connect to internet despite displaying wifi connection

My Mac Mini says it is connected to the internet, but when I attempt to load a website it just continuously says the webpage is loading for a few minutes until eventually saying "This webpage is not availabe" (Chrome).
The internet works fine on all of the other devices in the apartment (iMac, Macbook Pro x 2, iPhones, Windows laptop, PS3, etc.).
I have tried to find the answer elsewhere on the internet but nothing has seemed to work.
When I run diagnostics, on the lefthand side the ISP, Internet, and Server dots go from green to red every few seconds. When they turn red they each say "Failed" underneath them.
I have no idea what the issue could be. The Mac Mini is running OS X Mavericks and its software is up to date.
Another point to mention is that, even if the wi-fi is working on the other devices, if I reset the wi-fi it occassionally works on the Mac Mini for a couple of minutes or so.

First off you are making the common mistake of confusing the WiFi LAN (Local Area Network) with the internet (a.k.a. WAN or Wide Area Network). Your LAN is the gateway to the internet. It is entirely possible to have a solid connection to the LAN and all the devices on the LAN without having an internet connection.
When you say "..reset the wifi.." did you reset everything or just the router?
The correct procedure would be to
begin with the devices on the LAN (WiFi network) and power each of them down,
    then power down the router,
if there is a separate modem end by powering it down.
Give everything a good 30 seconds or so
power up the modem and wait for it to connect and stabalize (all the lights quit flashing.)
If there is a separate router then power it up and wait for it to stabalize,
next power up the mini and wait for it to connect then test to see if it is connecting to the internet.
Finally, one at a time power up each of the other network devices waiting for each to connect before going to the next.
It is important that you reset everything and the order in which you reset the various network devices is CRITICAL.

  • Mac Mini won't connect to internet with airport

    Hello All,
I have a three year old Mac Mini 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo at my office.  We all use macs and connect to the internet using a Time Capsule (Simultaneous Dual Band II).  Everyone else's computers are connecting to the internet and working just fine, but my computer constantly keeps failing to connect properly.  I have to continually reboot my computer to get access.  It will connect and stay connected for a little while, but then quit working all of a sudden again.  I would say it disconnects about 10-15 times during the day.  When I open up the diagnostic utility, it shows the following:
    Airport - Green Light
    Airport Settings - Green Light
    Network Settings - Green Light
    ISP - Failed
    Internet - Failed
    Server - Failed
Whenever I start having problems, everyone else's computers are connected and working just fine. I cannot figure out what the problem is and why my computer keeps showing that i'm connected, but won't let me access the internet.  This problem just started a few weeks ago, but it is getting worse because it is starting to happen more frequently.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Whenever I start having problems, everyone else's computers are connected and working just fine. I cannot figure out what the problem is and why my computer keeps showing that i'm connected, but won't let me access the internet.
With the information that you have provided in your post, it seems clear that the Time Capsule, which is providing the wireless network, is working just fine, providing a good wireless signal to the area. Since that's the case, there is really not any adjustment or change to the Time Capsule that we can recommend.
You might look for sources of wireless interference like cordless phones or other electronics that may be in close proximity to the Mac Mini, or obvious obstructions in the signal path, particularly any metal objects like a filing cabinet or shelving system.
Other than that, we would recommend that you post in the Mac Mini forum for some possible answers, or the forum for the operating system that you are running on the Mac Mini. Start here and select the area(s) that you need.
    https://discussions.apple.com/index.jspa
It's always possible of course, that the wireless card in the Mac Mini is failing, or the internal antenna connector has an intermittment connection, but we'll leave that diagnosis to the experts in the forums for the Mac Mini or your operating system.
If we missed something that would point to the Time Capsule as the source of connection problems with the Mac Mini, please let us know.

  • Unable to connect to internet via wifi

I have had this problem ever since I received my preordered Dinc.  I can successfully connect to the internet via wifi anywhere but at my place of employment (very frustrating).  The Dinc sees and connects to the wifi but when I open the browser the following pop up window appears:
    “Security warning
There are problems with the security certificate for this site.
This certificate is not from a trusted authority”
I then have a choice to continue, view certificate, or cancel.  When I view the certificate it states the organization, The Go Daddy Group Inc, unit, Go Daddy Class 2 Certification Authority and validity:
VZ tech support stated that they never heard of it and recommended that I call HTC.
HTC said that this is a common problem and that Go Daddy uses a variable wild card for their SSL.  The conversation ended when they said that there is nothing that can be done.
I finally contacted Go Daddy who said that they need the account number without that there is nothing that they can do.
Laptops, Iphones, and other cell phones can get on the internet.
My questions to this board are:
Has anyone else had this issue?
Does anyone know of a fix?
Who is responsible for the fix VZ or HTC?
Do you think that when (ever) the OTA update to Froyo will fix this?
    Thanks to all

I'd talk to your IT dept at work.
