Mac Mini Vs Adobe!

Has anybody else had any problems with Adobe software working with the ne Mac Mini's with Intel 4? Please offer some advice. The Adobe software is slow and sluggish and has to think about everything it does. Someone has told me that Adobe needs to update its software for it to be able to work properly with the new macs but I just can't afford to do this. Any suggestions? Anyone else having these problems?

Hi.
I've had a similar problem, but I think mine is worse. All the adobe package performs very slowly in my mac mini, for example, in Illustrator, whenever I work with applications like brushes or symbols the program crashes. I think it has nothing to do with the memory, because I could be working with a very large file with no problems. If I close it and open a new document, draw a simple rectangle, then a clipping mask, the program crashes. I've tried uninstalling the operating system and reinstalling it, then reinstalling all of the adobe package with different installers (to make sure that wasn't the problem) and I still get the same problem. Other friends of mine have bought exactly the same computer, the same model and have no problems with the Adobe package. I bought in Miami but I live in Nicaragua, so I have no idea where to go for technical support around here. What do you suggest me to do?

  • Mac Mini slow login

I wonder if anyone can help with this.
My Mac Mini, with a 256GB Samsung SSD installed just after purchase, has been very quick for the last 7 months. Suddenly the boot time has become painfully slow with a long delay until I can log in. After login all runs fine as far as I can tell. Here's what happens:
Power on - grey screen and spinning progress bar (this used to take 15-20 seconds but is now longer)
Login window appears but all buttons are unresponsive. Mouse cursor moves on screen but nothing clicks. Neither can one use keyboard shortcuts.
After a long wait the login buttons suddenly become active and I can enter password and proceed.
I have tried FSCK, permissions check, Disk repair and eventually reinstalled the OS, just in case, but the symptoms persist.
I suspect there is some background process that is holding up the startup process but I am unsure what it could be. Perhaps someone with a more expert eye could have a look at the console data below and see if they can spot what seems to be causing the lag. Seems to me not a lot happens between 16:19 and 16:26 when it all gets rolling again...
    Thanks for any help

Thanks Linc - I've uninstalled Sophos. Neither Sophos or SIMBL activity kicks in until after login though so my instinct is that the problem is more fundamental.
There is a much edited part of the latest console data below which covers the lag between appearance of login screen and the time it actually becomes active - 09:43 - 09:52. Can you see anything in there that might iondicate why it is hanging for 8 minutes? This is after a fairly long period of spinning progrees disk and Apple.
I've also noticed that Shutdown now seems quite extended too.

Adobe Creative Cloud - has anybody had any luck running Adobe CC on a new mac mini? Does it run slow for Photoshop?

Adobe CC applications are very large and the base Mac mini isn't a good choice because it has only 4GB of RAM and has a slow standard hard drive. To get the most out of ACC you should upgrade the mini to at least 8GB. I'd also choose an SSD or Fusion drive for better performance.

My Adobe Flash CS6 Color Picker has ODD colors. I'm using Mac Mini OSX 10.8.1. Is there a fix?
I click on the color picker and where I have seen the normal #0000ff blue color on my windows computer, this mac Mountain lion version shows a purple-ish color. Oddly, If I enter the hex # into the color picker, and use it as a fill, the correct color displays on the stage but when i use the eyedropper on that color, it shows it as the purple color again on the toolbar.
I've seen a similar thing like this happen when using adobe photoshop. However, the usual solution is to just make the managed color profile set to monitor RGB. The only downside with Flash is there is no preference to set that. The color palette in Adobe Photoshop displays as it should with the correct blue.
I should also note that I'm using a Samsung 941bw monitor with my mac mini which could also be part of the problem.
I figured i'd make this post anyway just in case it's the OS & Adobe Flash CS6 and not the monitor.
I've included a screenshot as well that shows that i've chosen the purple color and then made a rectangle shape on the stage and it comes out blue.
    Thanks ahead for your response(s)

Seems misleading that on the adobe site for Adobe Flash CS6 it says:
    System requirements:
Mac OS X v10.6.8 or v10.7. Adobe Creative Suite 5, CS5.5, and CS6 applications support Mac OS X Mountain Lion (v10.8) when installed on Intel based systems.**

  • My Mac mini OS is a 10.6.8 and after paying for Adobe premiere 13 download I realized that my computer needs to be 10.8 or greater.. I thought that I had read that 10.6.8 was enough but I must have been mistaken.. Any suggestions or am I out of luck?

How to remove preinstalled files of adobe photoshop from my mac mini so that i can install a new version of the same software. The previous version was removed using the app cleaner software.Could not continue installation of the new version because of the existance of files from the previous version.plz help

What "app cleaner software" ? I ask because installing Photoshop over a previous version has never been a problem. Perhaps your difficulty stems from another source, eg. "cleaner software" ?
If you look in your hard drive, at the root level there is a Library. In there is a folder called Application Support, and in that you will find a folder called Adobe. Files from your previous version are there.
However, I urge you to call Adobe support to make sure you are not doing anything that would mess up other Adobe applications.

I am considering purchasing the Mac mini for home studio audio production using Adobe Audition and a USB microphone.  Will the base mini model run these programs?

The base mini has 4GB and a 5400 RPM hard drive. It is slow to start up and slow to launch large application such as Word (and I'd assume Adobe Audition) due to the slow drive. I've not used a new 4GB model, just the 8GB model, and the 8GB model (except for the slow drive) handles everything I've thrown at it, including running Photoshop, Word, Safari, and Mail at the same time but there is sometimes a delay switching between programs as the swapfile is updated. Overall I was not happy with the 5400 RPM drive (perhaps because I have MBA and iMac with Fusion drive) so I eventually upgraded it with an SSD. Now the mini is truly a warrior.

  • Mac Mini Server and Adobe Creative Suite

I am looking for buying a new server and wonder if the Mac Mini with OSX Server is powerful enough.
4 Intel based macs in the office, all working with the Adobe CS4 package creating a weekly newspaper.
The client macs are mainly working with InDesign and Photoshop files. There is a heavy use of Bridge for seachings and Smart Folders. From InDesign we create PDFs based on InDesign Book (recompiling info from various InDesign docs into one PDF).
Will the Mac Mini with OSX Server be powerful enough?
We are currently working with a QNAP NAS Server with 2 500 gb discs mirroring, which aparently doesnt fulfill the needs.
Anyone can recommend the Mac Mini OSX Server?

    Which QNAP are u using?
Should be able to support 10 mac in an office like yours!
A minimum TS 239 pro surely does the job.
Why use mirroring in a QNAP NAS!? IT got great backup feature
put the 2 drive in raid 0
If not available onsite - Buy an external 2 TB used to backup the qnap daily or at least 3 times a week.
In my office we work directly with the indesign files on the nas without any issue.
If you will NOT be using all the features of mac os x server, its NOT worth the investment.
When you say powerful enough what do you mean?:
    - Holding your files? any storage will do.
    - Functions and services like ICHAT, ICAL, ACL, WEB for a mac office, YES OS X Server is the thing you need.
Also consider that as of now QNAP NAS does not offer any mean of being bind to LDAP. Even AD binding seems to be an issue, have a look on their discussion forum.
Setting MAC OS X SERVER as PDC and trying to bind the QNAP to it is a kind of an issue requiring adequate human resource for config.
Investing in the os x server now you will leave the QNAP on its own for file sharing, unless going through Global SAN, which, combine with Mac OS X server and QNAP/iscsi is a wonderful solution.
Wonderful solution only if you Mac OS X Server machine have TWO Gigabit NIC and you switch support VLANS. So here surely not the mini, though still depend on the size of the files you work with.
Then again you will need to rethink your Backup solution, may be going with combination of : CarbonCopyClonner, Automator and Ical.
The Mini Server with a DAS will suit your need. Already in possession of a QNAP NAS I dont see a Mini Server and external FIREWIRE RAID box be a good investment unless you are of those kind of rich business who dont know that in madagascar woman are giving birth in the streets without any doctor, in jakarta children below 5 yr old are being left on their own to survive the streets…

  • Is Adobe Acrobat 11 Standard compatible with a Mac Mini?

Can I use Adobe Acrobat 11 Standard on my Mac Mini?

If it runs the normal desktop version of OSX in one of the qualifying versions then it should work just fine. Only the server versions of OSX may pose problems, though generally Acrobat has been behaving gracefully even on those.

  • Mac mini won't install Adobe flash player

    Hi all!
I have had this newer version of my mac mini (OS X 10.6.8) for about 4-5 months now.  Never had any problems until this weekend when I was prompted to install the newer version of adobe flash player to view an interactive map.  I completed the installation, but it didn't work.  It states it was installed completely, but when I return to anything requiring flash player, it is still prompting me to install.  I tried to uninstall & reinstall, but didn't work. Tried all of their helpful hints, all with no success
I have a slight curveball - when i purchased this computer, it was setup with a logon (Logon2).  When apple guided me to transfer all of my info from my prev. mini to this one, my old logon came over (Logon1), therefore I have two logons.  When restarted or rebooted, it comes up with Logon2 and I just logoff and operate under Logon1 all the time since all of my info from prev computer is under that one.  Guess what?! - The flash player works under Logon2 - the one I never use.
I'm slightly confused, but I know someone here will be able to help me
    Thanks
    KRH

Funny thing is - I just redownloaded Adobe flashwith Firefox and it is working perfectly, but still not with Safari.

  • Is Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 compatible with Mac Mini 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo

Hello, I’m using Mac Mini 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo with Mac OSX 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.  When I try to install Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 I receive this error message:  “Some errors occurred during installation. Adobe  Elements 11 can be installed on 64-bit systems only.”  Here is the question: is Photoshop Elements 11 compatible with my computer and operating system? I guess my computer runs at 32-bit. Why do I receive that error message when I try to instal the Trial version of the software? I have read that Photoshop Elements 11 is compatible with both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. Thank you.

    On prodesigntools.com
    http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-11-premiere-elements-11-are-out-pse-pre.html
they say Photoshop Elements 11 running native in 32-bit:
Photoshop & Premiere Elements 11 will run well on 32-bit or 64-bit systems, and are designed for Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Mac OS v10.6 through v10.8 (see the full system requirements for PSE 11 on Windows/Mac; and PRE 11 on Windows/Mac).
Premiere Elements 11 comes with a native 64-bit version for higher performance – in other words, the PRE Editor now runs native on both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems.
Photoshop Elements 11 continues as before, running native in 32-bit and compatibly on 64-bit systems.

that's no longer available for download.  in addition, it's unlikely it would work on your mavericks os.

Yes, any version of PSE qualifies for upgrade pricing, but if you're in the US you might want to consider running the trial  for now and waiting for the black friday specials, when the full version will be a lot less than the adobe upgrade price.
