Mac mini vs iPhone 5s

Thus airdrop is useless to me.
AirDrop does not support communication between a Mac and an iPhone.  AirDrop is only i-Device to i-Device or Mac to Mac.
This will change with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite.

Can I seamlessly toggle Apple TV between Mac Mini and iPhone / iPad?

Toggle how?  What are you doing?  Why do you have the MacMini connected to the TV?  That is the whole point of AppleTV.  It is a simple way ( in therory ) to get your content to your TV without having to plug your computer in to your TV.
    it becomes an issue.
What does?  What is the issue?  What specifically fails or does not work?

  • Graphite base station not working with my Intel Based Mac Mini and iPhone.

My Airport Express died after 2 years of use. I had to resort to plugging in my old but still functioning Graphite Airport base station. Since the set up assisant on my Mac mini does not work with the older base station, I used my G4 400 tower to set it up. I got it working and tested the connection. On to testing my iPhone. It sees the new network. Password is entered and the wifi icon shows full signal strength, but does not connect to the web. Next I try my Mac mini out on the new network and it too sees the network, but does not connect to the web. I double check the older G4 and the connection is still strong and fast. I shut the G4 down thinking that maybe the Graphite can only support one computer at a time, and the Mac mini and iPhone still can't connect to the web. I'm not sure what to do with this one. Is there a setting that I need to use? As far as security goes, the Graphite base station was set up with a WEP password. Any help would be great

I suggest using AirPort Admin Utility (version 4.2) to check the base station settings and change them, if necessary. (AirPort Admin Utility should be able to configure a Graphite base station from a computer running Mac OS X 10.4, even though AirPort Setup Assistant can't.)
In the Network pane of AirPort Admin Utility, please make sure that "Distribute IP addresses" and "Share a single IP address (using DHCP and NAT)" are checked, and that everything else is unchecked. I am assuming that the Graphite is the only router in your local network and that there are no computers connected via Ethernet.
The Access Control pane of AirPort Admin Utility should list either all of the relevant AirPort ID's or nothing. You can find the AirPort ID of an OS X computer by looking at System Preferences>Network>Show:AirPort>AirPort.
The Internet pane of AirPort Admin Utility should be set in accordance with your Internet provider's requirements. Most likely, it should be set to Connect Using:Ethernet and Configure:Using DHCP.
After verifying the settings, power down the computers, base station and cable or DSL modem for a few minutes, then start them up sequentially, leaving time for each to get fully up and running: first the modem, then the base station, and finally the computers.
The network preferences on the Mac Mini and the iPhone are also relevant. I assume that the preferences are unchanged from those that worked with the AirPort Express.
    I hope this helps.

How do I restore NOTES that were deleted during an itunes sync from Mac mini to iPhone 5?

I should mention that my notes were not being sent to icloud, my mac's time machine was not set up, and my latest back-up was 3 months ago.

  • My WRT310n won't work with my Appl Mac Mini and iPhone

Previously I had a weak signal using my WRT54G router. I usually got one or two bars in the house on my iPhone or Mac Mini. I recently "upgraded" to the WRT310N and now I cannot connect wirelessly at all on the mini and only one bar on the iPhone even with the phone inches away from the wireless router. I know these are both G devices, but I didn't expect performance to be worse than with my $49 54G router. Any suggestions?

Are your wireless settings still on auto? Try using the wide radio band with standard channels 1, 6 or 11.
The box said windows xp or better... So I installed Linux!

  • Using mac mini and iphone 4

    Hi,
I'd be really grateful if someone could help me with this as its beginning to drive me insane!!  I have a mac mini 10.5.8 and an iphone 4 that I would really like to synchronize which I understand I have to do through icloud.  But, from what I can see I need to be running Mountain Lion but cannot get that until I have Snow Leopard (which I cannot find where to download through the apple website!).  I have upgraded my memory to 4GB which I hope is sufficient but just need someone to give me some instruction on what to do next.  Any help really appreciated as I desperately need to synchronise my calendars!!

Hello, since I have no iPhone I was waiting for somebody else to answer, but I can answer it turns out after finally looking!
First you need to research all the problems people are having with the higher OSX versions, & make sure you have a bootable clone of what you have just in case.
then you must get 10.6 if they still have it, install it & update to 10.6.8 so you have the App Store to buy & download the huge 10.8 Installer.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)
        * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
        * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...
    http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/
It's been pulled from the online store & Apple Stores, so you have to call Apple to buy it, last I heard.

  • Remote links between mac mini and iPhone but won't work

My iPhone and mac mini Keynote apps will connect and link but when I try to run a presentation, all I get is a big red exclamation point and a statement the two devices have to be on the same network - which they are.  Any suggestions on how to get the remote function to actually work?
    Scott

Hi Illaass, thanks for the response, much appreciate you taking the time to reply
    I went through the reboot cycles and got as far as the Disk Utility screen. I ran both the Verify Disk and then the Repair Disk processes and in both instances it "eventually) displayed the following respective  "red" messages;
    1) "The volume Macintosh HD could not be verified completely"
    2)  "Error: Disk Utility can't repair this disk. Back up as many of your files as possible, reformat the disk, and restore your backed-up files"
So. I tried to reformat the disk. I got the following message
"Volume Erase failed - with the error - Couldn't open disk"
    I don't know if this makes any difference but on the left side of the Disk Utility screen (and I wasn't able to actually get into the Mac during the above actions, just the DU screen) it lists the drive details as;
    <<drive icon>> 500.11 GB Hitachi HTs5
         Macintosh HD
indent <CD icon>> Superdrive (grayed out, cant be selected)
    then underneath that
    <<icon>> disk1
indent <<icon>> OS X Base System
    cheers and thanks again

  • Uploading photo's from my iPhone 4 to my Mac Mini?

have a Mac Mini & an iPhone 4. Before the recent software updates, I used to plug the phone into the mac & iPhoto would open & ask me if I wanted to upload my photos, before it went to iTunes.
Since the software updates, for the Mac & iOS5 on the phone I don't have this option anymore. iPhoto opens but it opens to the places map, not teh recent photos on my phone.  iPhoto doesn't even have the phone as an option to choose on the left hand side now
I haven't got iCloud to work on the mac yet, which is a seperate issue. I took a lot of photos at a special festival recently & the photo streaming was switched off.
How do I get the photo's off my phone & onto the mac please?
(I have recently converted from a PC user to the mac, so am completely useless with the mac still

Photos in PhotoStream can be imported from the cloud, however, the iCloud control panel for Windows requires Windows 7. You will either have to do as Ralph suggests, then import them using the USB cable as you would with any other camera, or upgrade the version of Windows you're running.

  • IPhone or Mac Mini?

Looking to get one for my birthday which one should I choose?

I have and use heaviily, a Mac mini, an iPhone, and an iPad and I would hate to be without any of them. As RRFS said they are very different devices even though they can do many of the same things. The question you have to ask yourself is, How will I use this device?
If your primary use will be phone calls, texting, and looking things up on the internet and you will be using it at home, at work or school, at Starbucks, etc. the iPhone is the clear choice.
If your use will be at home or the office, reading email, browsing the internet, preparing documents, working on graphic images, with some messaging, or if you have visual problems and need a large screen and full size keyboard, then the Mac mini is the clear choice.
If you are mobile and will be using the device both at home and away, doing moderate document preparation, as well as the usual internet stuff. then you will be a lot happier with the iPad.

  • I can not transfer information from my Mac Mini  to my iPhone five

Re syncing  calendar from Mac Mini to iPhone 5:   If I enter an event on my Mac Mini Calendar it does not transfer to my iPhone.  It works fine from my iPhone to my Mac Mini.  My i phone is using iOS 7.1.2.  My Mini's op sys is 10.9.4.  I have tried changing the settings on my phone, in my iCloud account and on my Mini.  I've become a bit confused.  Can you tell me what is wrong and how to fix it.  Chuckle, or tell me it can't be done.  Thanks, Bill Page

  • How do I install Snow Leopard as a partition with Yosemite on a 2001 Mac Mini?

I have owned Mac's on and off since the 80's.  I currently own (myself and my kids) a 2008 MBP, iPhone 4 and 4s, 2 old iPhone 3's, just purchased a 2011 Mac Mini and iPhone 6, and my work-from-home computer is a 4 month old MBP.
Several years ago, I upgraded the 2008 MBP to Mountain Lion.  Then the one and only game that I have played since around 2001, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, wouldn't work on Mountain Lion so I successfully added a 50GB partition and reinstalled Snow Leopard and the game has worked great ever since.
Recently, I gave my son that 2008 MBP, so I purchased the Mac Mini (i5 dual, 8GB memory, 750 HDD) and immediately upgraded it to Yosemite.  I proceeded to carve out a 50GB partition and have tried several times to install Snow Leopard to no avail.
After creating the 50GB partition, I rebooted, and held down the option key so I could then have the option install the Snow Leopard onto that 50GB partition - but it just keeps freezes up on me.  I even went so far as to try to copy the 50GB off the 2008 MBP onto the Mac Mini and that (understandably) didn't work either.
While I know enough to cause trouble, I am completely flummoxed with this.  I've run many searches and haven't been able to find a solution.
Can someone please walk me through the steps to make this work?  When I do restart, I don't even see that 50GB drive like I do when I restart the 2008 MBP so I suspect something may be wrong from the get go.  In Disk Utility, it shows the 2 partitions just fine, but not on reboot/restart with the option key held down.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks very much for the quick reply.  I figured it would something that simple.  Like I said, I only know enough to cause trouble.  LOL
Thanks again,  Guess I need to find a new game to play.  LOL

  • Should the bluetooth in an ipad 1 recognise bluetooth from a mac mini (snow leopard) or iphone4?

Hello, i have an ipad1 64gb 3g which obviously has bluetooth.  When searching devices it has never recognised another device, particularly the mac mini and iphone.  Bluetooth is switched on.  I would like to eventually be able to wirelessly sync calenders, contacts, photos etc without hard wire connecting.  Should this be possible between apple devices???

Not possible with Bluetooth as they don't have the FTP profile (File Transfer Protocol).
WiFi syncing between your computer, or iCloud and your iPad will be available in iOS 5
