Mac Mini Windows 7 no internet?

So my Mac Mini has two operating systems. Lion and windows 7, when running Lion my mac mini connects to the internet, When running windows 7 it will not connect. Wht do i need to do to connect to the net!?? I am using a Net Gear WNR2000 router.  Thank you for your time!

Starter question: did you install the Boot Camp drivers into Windows?  (a.k.a.: Windows Support software that the Boot Camp Assistant would have prompted you to download.)

  • 2012 Mac Mini Windows Support Drivers

    Hey!
So I installed Windows 7 on my Late 2012 Mac Mini and let bootcamp save the Windows support files onto a USB Drive. My plan was to install windows over OSX as i have an SSD in the post where i aim to install OSX onto (2 drives in 1 mini).
Howether, windows has just finished installing and it turns out my USB drive is currupt or broken.... I dont want to launch internet recovery to re-install mountain lion just to then re-install windows! Is there another place i can obtain the WindowsSupport files, Google wasnt any help
    Thanks in advance!
    David

Great news, thanks & keep us posted as to the outcome please.
Do you need the pure sped of Windows in BootCamp, or just the functionallity?

  • Hi - my mac mini drops the internet after 30 seconds. If i reset in the diagnosics it works again but then drops it just the same. Its connected to my home network. All other apple devices are fine?

I have a home network which services:
    Apple TV
    Air port express
    Mac book pro
    I phone
    All the above wrok perfectly.
I have a mac Mini which will join the network and operates fine but keeps dropping the internet after 30 secods of connection?
If I reset everything in the diagnostics box it will rejoin the network but then drops it again !!!
    any ideas?
    Chris

Hi Chris, this has worked for a few...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.5, 10.6, 10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x/10.8.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
    If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.

  • Is it possible to remotely use my mac mini over the internet?

Im a PC user thinking about getting a Mac Mini to put in my home office so I can write iPhone apps. I also want to be able to access it from anywhere through my Windows laptop. Is this possible?

Yes.  You have a number of options.  Google is your friend.  LogMe In, Bomgar, and other remote management tools.  Or, if you want low tech, VPN in to your office and then use a VNC browser to remotely control the Mac.
    There are plenty of options.

  • Cannot see Mac Mini Server from Internet: DynDNS alias gets thru cable modem to wireless router, not to the Mac Mini. How to configure?

I want to make my Mac Mini Server (Lion) visible to the Internet from my home LAN. I have followed the Lion server install wizards and also set up a dynamic DNS at DynDNS.com.
When I enter the Internet address with the proper alias from a web browser, I get dumped into the admin screen of the Linksys wireless router WRT300N. Hint: the WRT300N provides DHCP for the LAN, not the cable modem providing DHCP. The WRT300N has DDNS service set up. NAT and RIP are disabled. The Mac Mini DHCP is reserved.
Suggestions? I could use the Motorola Surfboard SB6121 to provide DHCP but have hesitations.
Point me to the right discussion/article and get me back on track, please.

This sounds like a simple port forwarding issue, but I don't understand your LAN setup.
The WRT300N has DDNS service set up. NAT and RIP are disabled.
The chances are, you're running NAT somewhere in your network. If not the WRT then what? If it's your cable modem then you must have port forwarding configured on the cable modem, and that's where you need to focus - change the port forwarding to point to your Mac Mini's address rather than the WRT.
HOWEVER, it is far more common to have the wireless router perform NAT and DHCP, which is why I question your setup.
    Not directly related, but:
The Mac Mini DHCP is reserved
Nix this. Your server should be configured manually, with a static IP address, not DHCP, even with a reservation in the DHCP server. The only advantage of DHCP is for dynamic hosts (hence the 'D' in 'DHCP') or if you expect to change your entire local subnet on any kind of frequent basis. The reality is that you can't just change the IP address of Mac OS X Server like this - there are too many dependencies, so it's better to set it manually, knowing that there's a cost (and pain) to change the server's address.

  • Mac Mini connected to internet, but claims not to be.

Everything was working correctly when I went to sleep last night; this morning, Safari claimed that my computer wasn't connected to the internet. iTunes and Rosetta Stone both agree with Safari and refuse to do anything on the internet.
I was unable to determine any setup problems with ping, dig, or curl, and Firefox is able to access the internet without any problems. I am using a wired Ethernet connection, and the AirPort is turned off. The Ethernet cable is plugged into a switch, which is in turn connected to my DSL modem.
The IP address, netmask, gateway, and DNS server are entered manually and I have verified that they are correct. Network settings lists the Ethernet connection as "Connected". I have changed no settings since it was last working, and no one else has access to the computer or networking equipment.

I posted in this forum looking for an expert's insight into the root cause of my problem. Had I just wanted the problem to go away immediately, I would have tried rebooting the computer (and possibly the networking equipment) before I posted. There are a few reasons why I didn't:
    1) There are several other computers and devices connected to the internet through the same networking equipment. They do not have any problem talking to the internet. The Mac Mini can also talk to the internet through this networking equipment; it is only some applications that are having trouble. None of this points towards problems with the networking gear.
    2) Some of the other computers that are connected to the internet through this equipment are running services that I do not wish to disrupt by breaking their connection to the internet.
    3) I am trying to diagnose and fix this problem, and rebooting the Mac will likely destroy any evidence of what is actually going on.
    4) Computer problems are almost never isolated incidents. While rebooting everything may make the problem go away for now, it still won't actually be fixed, and may reoccur at a significantly more inopportune time.
So, to answer your question: No, I haven't tried rebooting everything and bringing it back up in a particular order. I would like to apologize for not including an actual question in my original post, which may have caused some misunderstanding as to what I was hoping to find. What do you believe could be the root cause of this issue, and what further steps could I take to help identify it?

  • Mac mini and virgin internet

I have a lap top running leopard which has connected to virgin's wireless router (Net gear)
My other computer is mac mini running Tiger. It initially connected to virgin wireless router. Suddenly it stopped connection to it. So no internet.
Please let me know how to rectify it.

    Dear Tesserex
I have a new problem now. Please help me with it. I have posted it in other places to find help.
My mac mini worked very well with Airport express base station for 6 months. Mac book did the same too.
Recently installed Virgin Broad band with wireless router (Netgear).
Mini worked initially well for 2 hrs with internet connection. Then it started updating the OS on line. Suddenly it refused to connect to the internet. At the same time it stopped connecting to the Airport express base station.
The airport in mini detects the Virgin internet router network and airport express base station network. signal intensity is good.
But is says PPPoE is not connected
I don't know what is happening. On the contrary macbook is doing fine
    what is your solution?

  • Mac Mini Window Server Crash randomly

I am using mini since around one year connected to 2 x 22" displays. It's a 09(3,1) model upgraded with 8G of RAM + OCZ SSD.
Since a while I started to have issues with WIndow Server crash. In general Mini became unstable lately, but I can live with Safari or Adium crashes, really can't afford Window Server crashes since that is my primary working machine and I do run lot of ssh sessions during the day.
At first, the crashes occurred mainly upon idle time, but lately they started to be more than annoying. I would not like to change the hardware yet since one year for a workstation hardware is not yet enough to be replaced.
Here are just recent system crashes logs:

I would like to point out here, that I use several mac machines (MBP, MBA, iMAC and Mac Pro) and mini is the only one which such problems.
I would greatly appreciate any help on the subject.
    Cheers,
    /Jacek

    Hi Jacek,
We have a late 2010 Mac Mini Server which after some weeks started to crash randomly. It hung the system with everything frozen, clock stopped, etc. When the summer heat came with room temperature up to 29 °C the Mac Mini became more severely affected by the crashes. Once it could run five weeks without a crash. Later it crashed even during the boot process. Sometimes it could crash five times or more in a day even without any load on it.
I left it for Apple service and they told me a faulty Airport circuit board could make these crashes and replaced it.
However, as soon as the Mac Mini went back to work the same old crashes appeared again.
With the Mac came a "Diagnostics EFI 3X107" which could be copied to an USB and booted from USB. This will test a lot of things in the Mac. Now it crashed repeated times always within 18 minutes!
The server was returned to Apple service. Now they said they have replaced the whole CPU and logic board. Today we will collect it and give it a try again.
Maybe you have the same problem?
    Johan

  • Mac Mini/Windows 8 - HELP!!!

Hi everybody! Have a question about Mac Mini. If I buy Mac Mini is it possible to use it with my Samsung All-in-One computer running on Windows 8 software? What I want? Everything is SIMPLE, I want to use as my WINDOWS 8 so as MAC OS X! Thanks !

Your Samsung all-in-one can be used together with a Mac via cabled network or WiFi. OS X is able to share data via the SMB protocol which is native to the PC running Windows 8.
Keep in mind that programs bought for PC won't be able to work on OS X, unless you use virtualization software like Parallels, VMWare or VirtualBox.

  • New Mac Mini & Windows 7 (x64) - Bootcamp won't install

I just tried to install Bootcamp into a new installation of Windows 7 (x64) and was told that it wasn't compatible with this hardware??? Remember, this is a brand-new (mini-displayport) Mac Mini (I knew the older minis were not 64-bit compatible because the 64-bit version of Windows 7 wouldn't even install on it) but why are the 64-bit versions of the Boot Camp drivers not able to be installed in Windows 7 (x64) on a Mac Mini. Just doesn't make sense to me. Thanks, please advise.

This worked fine on my late 2006 Intel iMac running x64 Win 7 Pro. You basically have to use some Windows sleight of hand to force it to run. Cheers
Insert the Snow Leopard DVD in your optical Drive. Note the Windows Drive letter assigmnet for the optical drive (the instructions below assume it is D)
In the Windows 7 Start Menu Type “cmd”, then right-click on the program that appears and choose “Run As Administrator”. A DOS window will appear. You may optionally copy / paste the below commands from a document.
    Then enter
    D:
    The enter
    cd "Boot Camp\Drivers\Apple"
    Then enter
    msiexec /i BootCamp64.msi
The Bootcamp install will now run.

  • Macintosh LC sharing Mac Mini's WiFi internet?

Having dusted off my old LC, I was wondering if it was at all possible to wire the two together, and have the LC take advantage of the Mini's wireless internet access? My intuition tells me that simply Cat5-ing the two together won't yield any useful results..
The Mac Mini is running on 10.4.10, and the LC on B1-7.1

I've found this to be a good news-bad news situation. At one point last year I did have old Macs and new Macs/OSes networked with Airport and ethernet, but it was a trial and error -- mostly the latter -- until I got it to work, to the point that I really didn't know what I did do, just that at one point I did have them successfully networked.
One important point is that one can accomplish the networking with older computers better with the pre-Tiger OS X versions, apparently, in that Tiger removed some of the ability to share files. I don't know the exact details, but I noticed when I installed Tiger that I could no longer connect and share in both directions. I then read someplace about the change made with Tiger. Thus, you should get some specific instructions on how to set up the connections for the PARTICULAR version of OS X you are using, as apparently they are not all equivalent.
I have since dismantled my network (for other reasons) and cannot be more specific, now, except it was possible but with difficulty!
    PM9600/233 (OS 8.6;9.1); G3 white iBook (OS X 10.4.10); G4 MacMini (10.4.10)     Performa 6320 (OS 8.1); MacPlus (OS 6.0.8)

  • New Mac Mini slows my internet down to dialup speeds?

I recently purchased a new Mac Mini along with a new 27" Mac display.  As soon as I hooked it up and turned on WiFi, my in home interent connection (wired and unwired) slowed down to .019Mpbs!  I tried bypassing the router and hardwiring the Mac Mini directly to the modem, tried hardwiring to the Lynksys modem...still very slow.  As soon as I turn Wifi off on the Mac Mini, and remove the Mini from the network, all my other devices speed right back up to 2Mbps. I have several iOS devices in the home, a MacBook Air and a PC.
I have seen other's comments on other boards about bluetooth keyboard and trackpad.  I am using both of these, but manipulating these settings has not helped.
Would purchasing a new Apple AirPort AC 2 TB router/hardrive help?  Could my 2 year old Lynksys router (which works fine with everything else) be the problem?  Are there settings in the MacMini that need to be changed?
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!
    Jay

Ok, i was faced with this issue back in 2010 with my first Mac Mini. May i ask who your current internet service provider is? Mine was BT at the time and the router they provided was a 2wire! I am almost 100% sure that the router is at fault here! If it was your ISP that provided you with the router then call them to see if they can help. If you purchased it from a vendor then you will need to make contact with Linksys. What you need to ask for who ever it may be is a firmware update for your specific router in order for it to support a Macintosh. At the time of this this dilemma, BT could not help as my 2wire router did not have a firmware update available in order to support my Mac! I then made contact with Apple Support and they suggested i install a download manager. Please note that the DM manager i installed was tailored to fix this specific issue, other DM's most likely will not work! Was not the best solution but never the less this solved the problem! I wish i could tell you the name of this software but unfortunately i do not remember. However i am sure Apple Support can point you in the rite direction if you explain this scenario to them! I was on that network for a very short while, a couple of days i think so am not sure if this fix is a good longterm solution. However this may be the only solution you have unless you purchase a new router!
    Best of Luck!

  • My new Mac Mini suddenly losing Internet connection periodically.

It just seems like "out of the blue" I'm suddenly losing the Internet connection (when browsing) then eventually it returns only to lose connection again. Have not had this problem before, now suddenly happening all the time. My iPad never has this problem (it's on the same wifi network), so it's got me wondering is the problem "in" the Mac  Mini? Thanks for any information you might be able to supply.

I have had similar troubles with my Mac Mini for several months now and have tried all of the above plus more (including taking the thing apart to make sure the antenna wire had not come unmoored). I can set the MacBook Pro on the same desk with the Mini and its Airport connection will remain strong and steady while the Mini waffles and stalls, on and off.
I have pretty much concluded that the fault lies with Mini's Airport, the card itself most likely but perhaps some other factor. The past few weeks I have been keeping the Mini online by sharing the MBP's Airport connection via ethernet. This works well (and further points to Mini's Airport as the culprit) but is is rather cumbersome since I am constantly disconnecting the MBP for road work.
At this point I am thinking that the better solution would be to add an Airport Express to the network, connecting the Mini to wifi via ethernet. At this point I am certain, based on experience, that no amount of permission repairing, user account switching, new network creating or network rebooting in whole or in part will fix the problem.

  • Mac Mini drops WIRED internet connection

    Hi Folks,
I have a Mac Mini that keeps dropping it's internet connection every couple of hours. I have tried a couple of different routers and am now using the airport extreme N router which I purchased a couple of days ago but to no avail. Other computers on my network stay connected without any issues, its only the mac mini that keeps doing this and not in any particular pattern. This is with a WIRED connection to the router. When I use the wireless its even more erratic. I listen to music using an airport express that is also connected via ethernet to the Airport extreme but obviously when that keeps cutting in and out.
Was hoping people might have some suggestions here.
    Thanks!

Copy down the network address settings when things are ok, then recheck the settings when you have the problem. This will show if your loosing your ip addressing. When you have the problem, try to ping the address of the other computers. If you get a response, this will tell you if the problem is local or connectivity to the internet. (Go to Utilities>Terminal then ping xxx.xxxx.xxxx.xxxx)

  • Mac mini (Mid 2010) Internet issues

    Hi everyone!
I recently replaced three older Mac minis with new Mac mini (Mid 2010) computers. The new computers all work well, but they each exhibit the same problem wherein Java and Flash content on certain sites will fail to run properly.
The problem occurs right out of the box and with any browser I try to use, i.e. Safari, Firefox, Chrome, etc. In every case, I'm able to load Java and Flash web content without any difficulties on other Apple computers, including the older Mac minis I replaced.
Each of the new Mac minis came preinstalled with Mac OS 10.6, and installing the requisite system and Flash updates didn't resolve the problem.
What is it about these computers that's causing them all to load and run these web sites so poorly? I purchased them separately and from different vendors over the course of a few months, so it's almost impossible that they all have the same defect.
Any advice on how to correct this problem would be greatly appreciated. A few of the sites wherein I've encountered this problem are as follows:
    1. Cogeco speedtest: speedtest.cogeco.net
    2. www.speedtest.net
    3. the Skype download page
    Thanks in advance!
    Pietro

Platactico, a couple of things come to mind when I read your post. First question is about the length of the HDMI cable in use. Is is more than 2 meters long? Once a cable gets past 2 m, and certainly by 5 m, the quality of the cable can play a role, and you see cases where one device can drive that length, like your PS3, but another device cannot. So if the cable is longer than 2 m, consider its quality and try a better one, or a shorter one.
Another point I would like to make about something that is different between a PS3 and a Mac, there is embedded in both a DVI and HDMI cable something called the Display Data Channel (DDC). The data moving across this channel is critical to a Mac in its operation with a display. With other types of consumer electronics devices, it is not used in the same way, or not used at all. So just because your HDMI cable is proven to pass video data using a PS3, there could still be problems with the cable relative to the DDC. So that's another reason to be trying a different HDMI cable.
