Hey guys i have slight problem. My brother gave me a mac mini that he got from his friend and it was working perfectly until a couple of weeks ago... when i try to drag files, it wont let me. no error messages apper or anything, i just cant move the file. also, when i want to copy/paste words or files or anything, it doesnt let me... i wanted to restore the computer but then found out i needed the cds, which i dont have. so my real question is, what cd/dvd would i need to restore an old mac mini 1.25Ghz PPC G4 512Mb running OS X 10.5.7?

That old PPC Mini likely shipped with OSX 10.4 (Tiger), though possibly it shipped with 10.3 (Panther).
If you want to restore to 10.5 (Leopard) you'd need a full retail copy of Leopard.
I would first run Utilities > DiskUtility and verify your hard drive and repair permissions.
I'd also make sure that you have adequate free (available) space on the hard drive. At least 10% of the hard drive should be free space for OSX to be happy. If you have gotten warning messages that the hard drive is almost full, that might explain your problems.
If you have enough room on your hard drive, you might be able to improve your Leopard installation by downloading and re-installing the full "combo" update of Leopard, which is over 700 Megabytes. Obviously this won't be an option if your hard drive is almost full.

Many random issues with my Mac....Spotlght, Copy & Paste, Dragging, Printin

All of a sudden today, I have many annoying errors with my computer....
1) Spotlight does not appear in the top right corner, nor can I find a way to activate it there;
2) Copy and Paste doesn't work (Supposely I can COPY or CUT, but nothing PASTES or the PASTE is disabled in all applications such as Microsoft Word).
3) I cannot drag anything in Finder (can't drag files or icons into folders or into docks or anything; even when I highlight a file to drag, it doesn't even move the icon of the file anywhere on the screen as if it's been disabled).
4) It says ERROR with Printing when I try to print anything.
5) MIcrosoft Word is not running because it says my fonts have been corrupted and needs to be.
Did I catch a virus on my computer, or did something get corrupted that can fix or enable back these features. Everything's been working fine and then a few hours later all of a sudden, my computer is having these issues. I've tried restarting, running Disk Utilities, and nothing seems to fix these issues. Any suggestions???? Thanks!

There are some simple troubleshooting steps you can take...
Repair Permissions then use your 10.5.x install disk to run repair disk.
Be sure you drive is not overly full. Rule of thumb would be over 85%.
(First, be sure you have a good backup, or create one now.)
Create a new User go to System Preferences > Accounts > "+" (make it an admin acct) and test the apps in this new account, if they work the problem is isolated to your User and not systemwide.
If the issue is limited to your user account try starting up Safe Mode (It will take more time to startup in Safe Mode because it runs a directory check.)
If your apps functions correctly that way, go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items, and remove them. Boot normally and test. If not go to/Users/yourname/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Then do the same with /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Lastly, try moving/Users/yourname/Library/Fonts to your desktop and restarting.
Log out/in or restart, if that sorts it start putting items back one at a time until you find the culprit.
If the issue is systemwide then,You may be able to repair this with the 10.5.8 Combo Update This is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before.
Remember to Verify Disk before update and repair permissions after update from /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.

Just got an audio interface for garage band however mac mini wont read the disc drive to load software. It has worked in the past. Tryed an audio cd and its not reading that either.

Mac Mini wont eject a disc

My Mac Mini has taken a DVD and wont play or eject it. I have used the Keyboard Eject button, F12, the Eject button on my Mac Mini's dvd program and I dragged the Disc icon to the trash. Nothing has made this disc eject from my Mac Mini. When I tried to restart my Mac Mini while holding the mouse button down the computer Froze and now will freeze when ever I try to Shut it down. Anyone ever had this problem or know how to get it out? It is a standard CD.

After looking into it I found the answer. Unplug everything while the Mini is off. Plug the power cord in wait 15 sec. then plug in the key board. push the power button then hold the mouse button down. this worked for me.

You can bypass the password and wipe the drive and return to the original facory installation if the seller included the orginal install DVDs with the Mac mini. If not you will need a retail version of Mac OS X. To boot from the Install DVD restart the mini, immediately slip in the DVD and press and hold the C key.

You have not provided any information on which to base troubleshooting. Minimal information would include the Model Mac mini you have for example Mid 2010 Mac mini, exactly what happened when iTunes crashed, and what -- if anything -- happens when you try to restart. It is unlikely iTunes has anything to do with the failure to reboot but instead iTunes crashed because of what even caused your Man mini to fail.
Just as a starting point, be sure and check all your connections, power, monitor, keyboard, mouse, everything. You would not be the first to have a plug come adrift unexpectedly.

My remote works fine with Mac mini and Plex and Sofa Control. But I am unable to pair them. The settings are right and when I press Menu + Fwd nothing happens, no Pairing icon on the screen.

You need the orignal system discs or an upgrade DVD that has Snow Leopard 10.6.3 on it and you must erase, or better Re-Partition, the drive to get rid of any Newer version of OS X first.

My monitor uses a HDMI cable when the mac mini is off it says no input received which it does not say so it is receiving some signal from the mac mini. I have tried a different cable and a different monitor/ hdmi cable. The fan isnt running there is no start up noise but the little light on the front blinks every 4-5 seconds. Im booked in to see a GENIUS on sunday but I was wondering if there is anything I can do in the mean time. The mac mini is only 8 months old if that. Any ideas people? Oh the mac is also running mountain lion and has been since the day of release i've never had a problem up until this.

Mac mini iTunes crashes when music store accessess anything but music

My Mac Mini crashes whenever I try to access anything but music from the iMusic store. I can play song previews fine. However, once I try to access video or podcasts, iMusic will crash. iMusic then continues to crash as soon as the music store is connected. If I remove my iTunes Library and iTunes Music Library.xml files it reverts to the original symptoms.

No change after flip4mac was removed, iMusic still crashing. After further observation it was noticed that all I had to do was to click on the subject headings on the far left (trailers/podcasts/etc) to get iMusic to crash.
