I have a MBPro mid 2013 with 1 Thunderbolt port. Just bought a Mac monitor and want to daisy chain a PC monitor to it. Use a Mini DVI to VGA adapter from MBP to PC monitor. How do I daisy chain the 2 monitors?
Hall Palm Desert,
if your Mac monitor has Thunderbolt ports, and the PC monitor is on the end of the daisy chain, then you might be able to do it by connecting your PC monitor’s VGA cable to a Mini DisplayPort-to-VGA adapter (e.g. Apple, NewerTech), connecting that cable’s Mini DisplayPort end to one of the Mac monitor’s Thunderbolt ports, and then connecting a Thunderbolt cable between the other port on the Mac monitor and your MacBook Pro. -
I received a 27 LED apple/mac monitor --not the 2011/12 version though.
I want to use with my work computer--a dell laptop. I can't seem to find the right adaptor to connect the two.
I need a dvi port converter that also connects to my vga on my laptop (so need the male end of hte vga since my laptop has the female end).
I only found 1 adaptor but it ends with a dvi on a vga. I don't have hdmi on my laptop either--tried that adaptor as well when I couldn't see on the pic when I ordered that it was hdmi not usb). Please help. I have read so many blogs that say it can be done.BDAqua wrote:

BDAqua,
I'm flabbergasted! I wasn't aware of that technology. I'll try reading up on it after I get some sleep; maybe I'm just dreaming right now.
Would that kind of device work with my lowly MacBook running Snow Leopard 10.6.8?
(Don't laugh. I literally rescued it from the trash when my wife discarded it. It's my only Mac-Intel machine.)

I have a new Mac Mini and a 7 year old Mac monitor. The connectors dont match. What to do?
I suspect the monitor has an ADC connector
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Display_Connector
If so you need one of these:

Otherwise what connector is on the monitor? -

Hi, I would like to connect my ibook g4, to an old mac monitor I have, but what adapter do I need? Can anyone tell me one on ebay? Thanks
luisom,
Here is the specifications page for the iBook G4 line:
http://support.apple.com/specs/ibook/iBook_G4.html
It gives the following information for VGA, S-video and composite video output:
"Video mirroring supports VGA video out to an external display or projector (requires included Apple VGA Video Adapter) and S-video and composite video out to a TV or VCR (requires optional Apple Video Adapter, sold separately)."
The adapter came with your computer but you may not have it anymore. If you have that adapter, you may still need another connector to connect to the old monitor.
This page states that your computer is VGA compatible:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86183
Here is the Apple infobase page for adapters:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=33001
Google for vendors and you are in business.
(If you have the old HD45 monitor connector for the 6100/7100/8100 series computers, you will need to adapt that connection as well. Information found here.)
Good luck shopping.

I need power adaptor for a Mac Monitor
I bought a Mac monitor but it must need an adaptor to get power from my Mac Pro. HELP.
Most of the common ones are available on the Used market, for example on eBay.
If you need more guidance, please specify exactly which of the many Apple displays with this issue you are dealing with. -
I want to install a mac monitor to a Dell Latitude PC. I bought a VDI to VGA adapter but it still won't activate.
Easiest thing I found was to manually expand any open window you're dealing with; including a webpage. To do this look at the bottom right hand corner of the window pane itself. Just below the Up and Down scrolling arrows is a corner with 3 diagonal lines. Grab that and drag in the direction (up, down, right, left, diagonal) that resizes the window to meet your needs. Once you've done this the size will be remembered when you open the window in the future. I've learned Apple doesn't like "full screen" mode. Just as well since filling the screen with an open application hides anything else you have open. And the Dock doesn't highlight or display the open Apps. Hint: I've learned to use the F3 key a lot. That way I can see everything that I've opened and change applications.

Can I use my I Mac monitor with a mini mac?
Can I use my I Mac monitor with a Mac Mini?
Which iMac and which Mac Mini...?
Only the late 27" iMac's support input for use as a display with another system that has MiniDisplay Port output.
You might be able to use > ScreenRecycler, however I'm not sure how your going to set it up without a display for the Mac Mini. -
Share Mac monitor with PC tower?
A friend is offering to give us a PC computer (used, but still good), and I was wondering if I could set up the PC tower alongside my Power Mac G5 tower and somehow share the mac monitor that I already have. Any ideas? Not savvy in this area, so not sure if it's possible, but I'm hoping someone can help steer me in the right direction.
Thanks!Hi-
All that you need is a KVM to connect both machines to, allowing both to use the same keyboard, mouse and monitor.

I'd like to set up a Mac mini that I'm not otherwise using for kids games and some surfing. The only spare monitor I have left is an old 15 inch Multiple Scan display.
It needs to be connected via the dvi-vga adapter and then a vga-Mac monitor adapter. The start up splash screen comes up but then when the desktop comes up it is grey, no matter what I set the resolution (via system preferences) using another monitor. the top resolution for this monitor was 1024 by 768.Not sure if I recall the definitive answer, but you would probably be better off finding a VGA monitor used.

What adapter to buy to attach the power from my Mac Monitor to my Mac Pro
I bought a Mac Monitor but I need to know what I need to attach the power to the Mac Pro. I can attach the video and it has some USB connectors but I can not figure out how to plug it in to the power.
Go to sounds in system pref and select outputs. When the hdmi cable is plug into the tv it will show as an option under output. Just select that option.

How to dell laptop to a 23" mac monitor
How do I connect my dell inspirion to my 23" mac monitor. I have an adaptor (DVI to CRT I think) but my laptop doesn't have a place for the firewire cable. Any ideas how to make this work?
you are not going to connect the FireWire cable - you are only going to connect the monitor
if you wanted to use the firewire cable, you would need to add a FireWire host adapter to your machine -
Bootcamp - Windows XP - 24" Mac Monitor
I'm having a lot of issues with keeping my 24" Mac Monitor active as primary. Whenever I turn on my Macbook Pro, it doesn't initialize the monitor. I'm forced to go into the Nvidia control panel and active clone view. This is a rather annoying process. Has anyone figured out how to make it work permanently? I don't have this issue on the Mac side.
Hi there,
Nope, not using Bootcamp which the Beta expired abot Sept. 15th 2007.
It is possible if you upgrade to Leopard, or if you have an IntelMac & get Parallels or VMware...
