Mac needs to force restart too often
My mac keeps giving me an image on the screen (http://cjmiscfiles.webs.com/20110124211705.jpg) which says I need to force restart my Mac. I got this message 2 times in a week, and I got it once before. I just got my Mid-2010 Mac when it was first out, and I'm concerned that it might be breaking already. Please help!
Yeah I've been getting these force reboots as well, way too often, like 3 in the past 2 days actually, often within minutes of each other even after the reboot.
here are my Panic logs

Mac needs to be restarted after Lion upgrade
hi, can anyone help me? I upgraded my Mac to Lion, ever since then I am having problems: every time I turn on the Mac it tells be to hold down the power button and restart it, I do this and it starts to work only then. I have been having problems with Outlook 2011 where I have to keep on rebuilding the database. The system seems to be a lot slower as well. Dose anyone know if Apple are aware of these problems and if they are doing anything about it. I would of thought when it comes to apple it would of been more stable then this. Let's Waite and see if apple gets in on this discussion.
Hi, thanks for the reply. I looked up Ketnel Panic on Wikipedia and the picture that is showing up on it for Mac is what I'm getting, it's the gray screen and the message in several different languages telling you to power down and then restart. What I can't understand is the PC was working great on lepored with no problems, I up graded by the App store to Lion, dose this not mean it is been caused by lion or what?
My only problem is I'm new to apple, I use time machine to back up but how do I reinstall an OS if I have no disc as when I bought the PC from new there was no disc provided in January? Will I have to install all the software again? I also use pareralls software for XP, will XP have to be reinstalled again and all softwares installed on the XP side? Is there a way for apple to scan the PC and locate the fault and just install a fix, windows have fix updates all the time what dose apple not as it seems I'm not the only person that has had these faults? -
My iPad 2 keeps needing to be reset too often
When I turn on my iPad often (every couple of days) it needs resetting (pressing both home and on/off buttons)...Seems to be working, but is this a sign something is up with my iPad?.....The battery is fully charged....Thanks.
I think it a problem with firmware of your Router, you need to upgrade the firmware of your Router..
Go to website linksysbycisco.com/downloads.........insert model no of your router in search tab......select proper version of your router........download the firmware file......save that file on desktop
Firmware Upgrade/Reflash
Follow these steps to upgrade the firmware on the device : -
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on a computer hard wired to the router...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...
Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful" After the firmware upgrade, click on "Reboot" and you will be returned back to the same page OR it will say "Page cannot be displayed".
Now reset your router :
Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router... -
MBP 15 (2010) Crashes & Restarts too often
I get the following dump below. Sometimes the window frames are either normal grey or bluish after restart but not always. Frequency is sporadic about 6-7 times a day...then nothing for maybe a day, then again 3 times within an hr. etc.
Can someone please tell me what could be wrong? Thanks in advance!

Thunderbolt Bus:You have the misfortune of having a model identifier 6.2 MBP that is having GPU problems. There was a logic board replacement program but that has expired. To solve the problem you would have to have the logic board replaced at your expense.
A temporary solution is installing the following:

This will allow you to disable the discrete GPU and eliminate the kernel panics, but at the expense of better graphics performance.

Having to power down and do a restart too often with my iPhone 5.
In the eight months I have had my iPhone 5 I have had to power down and do a restart six times to resolve a repetetive problem. The problem becomes apparent when the phone loses its keypad touch sounds and the alarm app I use fails to go off in the morning. There are probably other things happening as well, but these two are what I first notice and prompt me to do the restart. The restart solves the problem but my question is why is this happening in the first place and is there a fix for it? In the two+ years I had my iPhone 4 nothing like this ever happened. I do leave the phone on all the time 24-7.
Try a reset:
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds). -
My finder keeps freezing and needs to be relaunched too often
Ever since I started using SugarSync as a means of backing up my files to a "cloud" my finder bogs down and needs relaunching. Any suggestions?
as an added problem just today, as in 2 hours ago i ran into a huge freeze, i tried to reboot but all i got was the grey screen and the apple logo, i turned off my computer, let it charge for a bit, unplugged it and reboot it with little problem, but i still experience slow downs when i plug my computer in to the AC adapter, is there something wrong with my adaptor. The problem gets even worse when I try to listen to music with itunes while also using safari, is this a CPU issue?

How can I remote force restart a Mac Mini Intel ?
I have tried with sudo shutdown -r now, but that was not able to do the job. According to the top command, 7 processes where stuck.
The Mac was reacting to terminal commands, but the screen was light blue, with the spinning wheel. I needed to force restart manually
How can I find out, what processes are stuck?I've had the same problem and had my server get stuck halfway through a shutdown when I was 100 miles away! I've also had firewalls, DSL modems, T1 routers, etc get stuck too.
My solution was to use home automation controllers (I use Insteon, but x10 will too). This way, I can remotely power cycle the recalcitrant mac (or firewall, or DSL modem, etc).
Simply set up indigo (www.perceptiveautomation.com) on your mac, and you can control everything from an iphone with the indigo app. YOu can get the modules from machomestore (www.machomestore.com) or smarthome (www.smarthome.com)
I have a cable modem, DSL modem with static IP, sonicwall firewall (which automatically load balances between the cable and DSL, and allows continuous service should one fail) and my macs. I also have a smartlink controller connected straight to the DSL modem ahead of the firewall. That way, if the firewall or mac crashes, I can cycle it through the DSL from my iphone. Everything else can be managed using indigo. I programmed both the smartlink and the mac to send periodic "ON" commands to everything in case I accidently send an "off" command, rather than running the "cycle" program.
X10 also makes a phone based controller that you can dial into and control X10 appliance modules. I chose insteon because it is more reliable and less prone to noise.
I'm currently working on writing applescript programs to proactively monitor everything and automatically cycle any stuck device.
Note that if you use a UPS, you'll have to put the appliancelinc module between the UPS and the mac. You'll also need a pair of insteon access points, one plugged into the UPS and one straight into the wall, to couple the insteon PLC command to the module. (I don't use use a UPS, since my utility is MUCH more reliable. I have had one power outage in 12 years, not even a flicker otherwise. I had several UPS failures in the 4 years that I used them) -
CS4 Freezing Up - Only option is to force restart my Mac
I keep having issues with Photoshop freezing up when I try and work in it. Most of it works just fine... but there are certain tools that cause the program to just freeze up my entire machine. I can't do anything unless I force restart my Mac. It happens when I try to make a guide, using the text tool, lasso, and the list goes on and on. Anyone else having this problem? If so, any idea how to fix it? My operating system is OS X 10.5.8. Thanks!
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT - not sure if it's still under warranty... I should still be under the AppleCare Protection Plan. Everything else works fine on my machine... it couldn't hurt to replace it though (if it's a free exchange)... that might be the issue. One of my games was acting up awhile ago - so a bad card might be the case. Thanks for your help!

Power Mac G5 needs to be restarted
My Power Mac G5 (pretty old) starts up but then it keeps giving the message "computer needs to be restarted". I tried several times, also disconnected all drives. Two bright red lights come on inside the G5, on the front, and fans are spinning as loud as jet engines. I also tried to restart by keeping pushed the Command key, but it didn't help.
Depends which G5, but...
LED 1—CPU A: red—contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider
LED 2—Overtemp: red—contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider
LED 3—Power On: red—the main power is on
LED 4—Trickle: yellow—Power Mac G5 is plugged into the wall correctly
LED 5—Open Firmware good: green—no problem
LED 6—CPU B: red—contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider
LED 7—Checkstop: red—contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider
Likely the Thermal Paster needs replacing for one thing, is this a Liquid cooled model? -
I have a power mac G5. It boots up fine and then a screen comes down and in a bunch of different languages tells me the machine needs to be restarted. At this point everything is frozen. I have started the machine up a number of times and I get the same thing. Anyone have any ideas?
Does it boot from the Install Disc OK?
Does it boot into any of these modes?
Holding Option/alt key at bootup.
Holding SHIFT key at bootup.
Target mode...

Does it boot to Single User Mode, CMD+s keys at bootup, if so try...
/sbin/fsck -fy
Repeat until it shows no errors fixed.
(Space between fsck AND -fy important).
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck...

We might get clues with verbose mode...

Forced restart with long beep; magnified images
A few days ago, my MacBook Air prompted a forced restart - since I was unable to navigate the screen with the cursor, I needed to hold down the power button to force the restart. I held it down once to power off and again to power on. When I powered on, I heard a long beep followed by the startup screen. The screen images are magnified and all desktop items have disappeared. The magnification has made navigation extremely difficult and the computer almost impossible to use. Also, a few weeks ago I found that normal computer use was occasionally interrupted by a flash of blue screen followed by this same magnification phenomenon. At that time, I was able to reboot the computer and resume normal operation but am unable to do so now. Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so, what's causing it and what can be done? Thanks.
try rebooting from the installer DVD -- are you really running Jaguar 10.2.x like your profile says?
It will look like it is getting ready to run the installer; let it continue until you see a menubar across the top of your screen. Under Utilities, open Disk Utility and choose Repair Disk. Once it completes, if it indicates that the "file system was modified," choose Repair Disk again. Do this repetitively until you get no more "file system was modified" messages, then reboot normally (we hope).
If you don't have the installer DVD, reboot holding down the ⌘s keys. With any luck, that will allow you to come up in what is known as single user mode -- a black screen with a bunch of cryptic looking system boot messages. Once (or should I say, if) you get to a user prompt, type /sbin/fsck -fy It should do the same thing as Disk Utility Repair Disk from the Installer DVD. Same provisions about "file system was modified" messages apply, then type /sbin/reboot
I don't think Jaguar's Disk Utility had a "Repair File Permissions" but if it did, do that, too.
With any luck one or the other approaches will solve your issue.
If none of the above works, I think I would be looking for another Mac and a firewire cable, then hook your PBG4 to it, and boot it (the PBG4) up while holding down the "T" key. Once you get the blue screen with yellow firewire symbol on the PBG4, the PBG4 should appear on the other computer's desktop as an external firewire drive. Then I would start salvaging all the Users folder data of importance that I could off of that PBG4 because I think an erase (including write zeros to disk) and reinstall the OS and user accounts and applications might be in your future. Or a visit to the Apple Store's Genius Bar... -
Secondary internal hard drive disappeared from desktop after forced restart
I have three internal hard drives, one for system, the other two for data storage. While permorming a search on one of the data drives i clicked the "X" to the right of the spinning wheel on the bottom right of the search window to stop the search but the computer froze (wheel kept spinning). I then went through the dock and quit all applications, except for InDesign which wasn't responding to force quit.
The only way out was a force restart. Upon restart, one of the internal data hard drives did not show up on the desktop, nor after a couple more restarts, nor after restarting from the installation disk, verifying and repairing disks and permissions on the other hard drives with disk utility.
where did it go?
G4 Mac OS X (10.4.9) Dual 1.25 GHz, 2MB L3 cache each, 2GB DDR SDRAMno it doesn't show up at all in those either.
Hmm. Then that sounds like the interface to the drive isn't even talking. You could try opening up the computer and making sure the cables are all connected firmly (of course, it should be off).
here's the log:

Hmm. These are part of Spotlight, but they don't really give any clues, just that they weren't responding. Which might be because the drive disappered during your search.

This is ProTools trying to load a piece of code. If ProTools is working, then I'd say it's nothing to worry about. Error -2804 is "specified fragment not found", but if it handles it okay, then it could just be an informational message.

Just the Adobe license manager telling you it started. Nothing to worry about.
Unfortunately, I don't see anything helpful here. It's just like it disappeared (or never existed) as far as the OS is concerned. If you can find your original disks that came with the computer, you could try running the hardware test and see if it kicks up any errors, either with a drive or a drive controller on the motherboard.
