For the life of me I just can't seem to get it.  I need to transfer my contacts from my mac computer to my wife's IPhone.

  • TS1702 Hello, we have a Mac and an ipad, the Mac is working and wifi is on and the Ipad's wifi is on too, but Ipad Safari can not open because it could not connect to the server, does any one know what have happened?

Hello, we have a Mac and an ipad, the Mac is working and wifi is on and the ipad's wifi is on too, but Ipad Safari can not open the page because it could not connect to the server, does any one know that?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't do that, you'll need to change the password on your Wi-Fi and then change the settings on the Apple TV to log into your network again using the new password.

Im in Jamaica And i have been using the internet of my iPhone  but it is on airplane mode And im conected to wifi, so my question is, am i going tO get charge for the usage?

    Yes you can.
This was introduced a while ago for wi-fi use on an Airplane. All other iPhone radios must be off except for wi-fi when doing so. This can also be used on the OP's situation to prevent placing or receiving any calls, the same for SMS/MMS, and no data or internet access via a carrier's cellular network when roaming internationally.

One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:

Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF

I've gone through and deleted the safari extentions and tried so many things, but can't solve this problem. can anyone help please?

try getting a new router that can handle lots of devices or if you don't want to spend to much try getting a range extender or a booster

  • Mac Mini 2012 Poor Wifi

    Hi All,
I've had my 2012 Mac Mini (the basis of my home music recording setup) about 9-10 months and always had poor wifi connection. Download speeds are terrible and it can take hours to download a few MBs
My provider is Sky Fibre Broadband with the Sky Hub. It's all less than 12 months old. It doesn't seem to have the 5ghz option that's been mentioned.
Another point to note is that the signal isn't trying to penetrate several thick walls, the Sky hub is in the next room less than 10 metres away with a direct line of sight through 2 doorways.
I've been through everything in this thread Intermittent and slow Wi-Fi connection on Mac Mini Solved! to no avail. I've tried turning off monitors, speakers, hard drives, bluetooth (even though I need to use this to connect my iPad for studio use). It's completely unusable. I even have the sky booster for the wifi sat  next to the Mac and it makes no difference. My Mac Mini is updated to latest OS X Mavericks which took a very long time to download!
The only thing left for me to try is running a long ethernet cable from the sky hub to see how it is wired. This I am going to do today when I'be been to buy a cable as it's not convenient and unworkable to strip down my home studio to move it to another room.
Yesterday I spent a long time on the phone to apple support and they seem to think there's a problem with my home network and interferance. We went through all sorts, deleting startups items, caches and so on
Although every other device in my home works absolutely fine. These include Windows 8 laptop, Google Nexus, LG G2 Android Phone, iPhone 4s, 2x iPod 4th Gen, Xbox 360, PS3, LG Smart TV, iPad Air. Note these aren't all on at the same time!
It did connect using the iPhone 4s as a hotspot to test which is why Apple insist there is no problem with the hardware, although the WiFi doesn't pick up any other local networks available for example my neighbours of which there are around 8 I can see on other devices.
    Any thoughts?
Out of interest does anyone think getting an Apple Airport Express, connecting it to the Sky Hub but connecting my Mac to Airport rather than the Sky Hub directly would work? In effect creating an isolated connection from the other devices in the house? Maybe they will take to each other in a nicer way. I'm a bit confused by what I can do with the Airport and want to afford splashing out on different routers etc. Trying to get them to work on Sky I can just feel the headache!
Thanks in advance, hope the above is enough info

If you ALT+Click on the Mini WiFi icon in the menu bar, you should see a 'Open Wireless diagnostics'. If you click on it and press command+2, it will bring up a utilities window.
There are two functions that you should consider. Wi-Fi Scan and Performance. There is also Logging, Frame Capture and Info. You can look at these and analyze what may be issues with your Mini.

  • Why do i have a $1300 mac that cant do wifi? About to give up on apple...!

I will try not to rant here that much.
I have been a happy mac user since september of 2006. I have been a very unhappy frustrated mac user since last week.
I bragged about how great the mac is. how it is for everyone. I have converted 2 families over to an imac... but now. I am so mad.
I have set up wireless networks with windows xp and hated every minute of it.
Therefore, when i finally set up this mac with my old off brand wifi g router, and had it work right away, i was impressed.
I even bragged to my friends about how they were so stuck with windows, and me with my mac... well i was just so much cooler than them.
Once in a while the wifi would go out. No big deal, but a week ago it started to go from a snowflake to a blizzard... The wifi wouldnt just go out, it would dissapear completely.
I cannot connect to the gateway at all.
    Cannot access the internet.
    I do this:
    1. Unplug all cordless 2.4 ghz phones
    2. Tear down my entire network and reconnect everything.
    3. Go to the networking pane and check everything is working. I remove all networks from the preferred network list and then add them again.
    4. I restart the computer with the airport power off.
    None of this works.
Half the time i cannot even see my wifi router in the list without restarting the computer.
I buy a brand new netgear 802.11g router and install it. I even call netgear to see that the settings are correct (that it is broadcasting the SSID properly etc) and we change the channel to channel 02 and "G" only connections...
THE CONNECTION STILL DROPS EACH 15-30 MINUTES FOR NO REASON AT ALL.
I install the 2007-001 airport update which fixes things... sort of.
Since i download alot of files, and i have a dashboard widget that i pulled to the desktop to watch my network speeds, i can see that the update hasnt fixed anything... the connection still dissapears. however the computer then quickly tries to restablish the connection, as though you were to release/renew the ip quickly.
So there you go. No real fix.
Someone told me taht there is a combo update for 10.4.8 that i should try... what will that fix? I have 16 gigs of stuff on my mac HDD that i cannot lose, and dont have the option of quickly backing it all up, so i cant goto 10.4.7 easilly.
I am so mad. i am incessed... The apple store tells me to bring it in a get it fixed, however i can get connections to OTHER networks most of the time.
AND WHEN I BOOT INTO WINDOWS XP AND PLAY A GAME FOR AN HOUR, THERE IS NO PROBLEM AT ALL... so that shows me this is an os x problem.
    Ok... lots of ranting.
is there a fix? Why did i buy a $1300 computer that cant connect to the internet?
iMac (intel)   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I spent 2750 $ for my 24" iMac (price for my region)...
And the perfect world of Steve Jobs still close, but never we've been in there!

  • Migration assistant screw up, Mac Pro not seeing wifi/TC

    Hi
I've been using a MacBookPro (MBP) for almost 5 years now, with a 1TB Time Capsule (TC1) using Time Machine (TM). I am the sole user, HDD is 270Gb used/50Gb free; using Mavericks, v10.9.2. On Friday, I used Sophos anti virus home edition, to scan the MBP. It comes up with no threats identified, and I uninstall Sophos.
Yesterday I took delivery of the Mac Pro (MP) with the 3Tb Time Capsule (TC3).
I booted up the MP, with the TC3. I did not, at this stage, connect the TC3 to the internet. Using TM, I backed up the MP. TC3 flashes the amber light.
Using Migration Assistant (MA) I tried to copy the MBP to the MP, 3 times. This did not work. At the point where the target machine has listed what is available to transfer, I click Continue and MA on the MP closes, on the MBP it says something like connection lost. The screen where this happens, lists 3 items available to transfer Application, Documents/Date and Computer settings; with a content of 128kb indicated, which is clearly wrong! The connection was an Ethernet cable direct from the MBP to the MP.
At this stage, I decide to connect the MP to the internet using TC3, there's some settings to be changed on TC3 using Airport Utility and it connects ok. TC3 has a steady green light.
I run 2 software updates on the MP. I surf the net briefly, to make sure it's ok.
I try again to use MA. This time, the dialgoue box listing what's available to transfer is different. There are 2 or 3 more options, colour is present, the font is different, the box is about the same size. The MP would not let me take any screenshots as all other applications are closed when MA is running. I don't think it gave me the size of what was being transferred, but it looked more hopeful, so I Continue and the transfer starts, with an estimated time of 33 minutes.
    The transfer completes.
The MBP, as you would expect, has not changed, the MP has, but not in the way I expected. Applications appear to have all transferred (without checking them), no Documents/data and no Downloads appear to have transferred; I ticked to transfer everything.;I know I can reconnect the Ethernet cable and simply copy the data across.
But the main problem appears to be, the MP does not see the wifi.
    Ethernet cable is removed.
The MP asks if I want to give permission to eeEvents manager (I presume calendar related) and say yes. It also asks if I want to install a Java run time, no.
In System preferences/Network it tells me a new Thunderbolt bridge has been found and asks if it's ok, to accept it, yes. It tells me the Ethernet cable is disconnected, rightly so; it says Airport is not connected.
I open Airport utility, no sign of the TC1 or TC3 despite it searching. Apart from TC1, the MP, MBP and TC3 are sat within a couple of feet of each other.
I turn on TC1/TC3 (separately and not at the same time, then at the same time), but the MP does not see them. I've reset TC3, rebooted the MP and still the MP does not see it.
I don't get any errors or warnings coming up.
I think my next option is to try and reset the MP to the factory settings, but this won't work, as I've no internet connection to reinstall OS X. No disc is sent with the MP.
Any suggestions as to what to try? Otherwise, I'll be off to the Apple Store tomorrow for a One to One!! :-(
Thanks for any help and Happy Mother's Day!!

Take the MP and connect it via ETH to your main router.
Restart the machine holding down command option R, you should see a spinning globe
Open disk utility and reformat the MP HD as Mac journaled
Then install OSX on this drive

  • How can I tell Apple to store my MAC-address of my Wifi Router in there location DB?

    Hello
Recently I bought a new Wifi Router and when I use the Maps App it tells that my ipad is located in China (Shangai)
When I also want to use the automatic timezone feature in the preferences app it indicates that my ipad is in China (Shangai)
I have already searched for a number of discussions (in and out the Apple Support) and their I found that the problem is in a location DB managed by Apple (crowd-sourced database). It seems that my Wifi Router is registered with a wrong location. :-(
    my questions :
.- is the somebody that can give me a procedure (certified by Apple) how I can update this location DB?
.- How can I store my Wifi Router MAC address with the correct location in this DB?
    Already thanks in advance
    Kindly regards
