Mac not asking for Password when waking up from Sleep.
Hi. I have a MacBook Pro that recently stopped asking for my password when the screen sleeps... I am concerned about security and would like to have this feature working again.
I have the "Req password to wake..." setting checked in the Security pref pane and I've tried both rebooting as well as resetting the pram with removing the battery & power and holding down the power button.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have you tried to deselect, restart, then select and restart... see if that works?

New Mac Book Pro does not ask for password when waking from sleep
I've noticed that several others are having this problem. I have tried all of the suggestions on the other posts and have had no luck getting it to work.
I have it set to "require password to wake this computer from sleep or screensaver".
When I wake the computer in the morning it requires a password but if I wake it after and hour or two it does not. I have my screensaver set to turn on after 4 minutes but it never asks for a password when when I come back to my computer.
I think this is a bug and Apple should deal with it in a security update.
I'm open to any more suggestion though.
Thanks,
TevadarFYI, you can also lock your screen manually if you like. Launch Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access, select Keychain Access menu > Preferences > General tab, and check the box to "Show Status in Menu Bar." That places a padlock icon in your menu bar, and clicking on that will give you the option to Lock Screen.

Have deleted account.
Created new existing mail account, enter server details, click test - the server details are found automatically. Then enter password and click ok - then Thunderbird hangs forever while saying that password is ok.
Alternatively - create new existing mail account without entering password, click ok, then procedure goes through, and the email gets created. However, it never asks for password. Even upon restart of Thunderbird and machine. There are no passwords saved under security settings
Please helpAlso I forgot to mention, I have nulled out the known_hosts file to eliminate any conflicts there, I have verified .ssh is 700 and files config and known_hosts are 600

Guest password is turned on Cisco Connect but not asking for password when joining network.
I just set my wireless modem and i had applied a password for the guest wifi signal and turned it on. But when you join the network its not asking for the password. What do i do to fix this?

When you connect to the Guest network, you wouldn’t be asked for a password. The guest password would only be prompted once you open your internet browser.

On the iPad have you got Settings > General > Restrictions > Require Password set to 'immediately' ? The default is a 15 minute period during which it doesn't need to be re-entered. You can also turn off in-app purchases via the Restrictions screen.

Login screen does not ask for password when logging into user account
This is an issue that did not immediately manifest itself after I have upgraded to Snow Leopard. I am not sure what exactly triggered it.
Anyway, now at the login screen if I choose to login with my own user account, i.e. clicking on the icon associated to my user account, I am not prompted for the password and the system seems to start trying to login, as there is a discernible pause. Obviously that will fail, and I am returned to the login screen again.
If I choose the other user option, as before I will be allowed to manually type in an user id and password, and using this way I am able to login into my own account (previously I only use this for logging in to the root account).
Any idea on how I can make the field for typing in the password appear again? Thanks.Just to report that deleting /Library/Preferences/com.apple.loginwindow.plist did not help.
Anyway I installed Snow Leopard again and the problem went away. Hope I will not do something that will trigger it again. -
Mac users prompted for password when reading PDFs from Internet
We produce PDFs with a randomly generated password to "protect" them from being editted.
Periodically, we get complaints from Mac users who, upon clicking the PDF link, are prompted to enter the password. My guess at this point is that they have Acrobat (not Reader) installed and it's wanting to open the PDF in an editable mode by default.
Does this sound correct?
What instructions should we give them to work around this issue? Is there a settings change for this (least desireable) or a Ctrl-Click sequence to get it in "read-only" mode?
We're not Mac folks -- don't have one in-house -- so we haven't had an environment to experiment in.
BTW: The issue is with our clients' customers so we need something fairly non-technical for directions.

Why does my mac move to space two when waking it from sleep??
what the heck, when I awake my Mac from the screen being black/sleep mode, it automatically jumps to my space 2. why is this? is this a Firefox issue? it's really aggravating!
System Preferences/Energy Saver - check to make sure Wake for network access isn't checked.
If that doesn't fix it, see this discussion for the post by Linc Davis.

I can't update my apps each time it asks for password when entered it goes straight back to update. I don't think I am alone in this. I have tried changing the date, rebooting, switching off and on signing out and nothing works. Does anyone know of a solution or will I have to take it to an apple shop. My misses has no trouble with her updates, they are both on iOS 6. Hope someone can help.
Tried that just said cant connect to iTunes Store which was different.

How to get Leopard to stop asking for password after waking from sleep mode
My regular userid does not have a password. When I boot the system, it goes directly in without asking for password. However, when Mac wakes from sleep, it asks for password. I just press enter.
Can I do something to make Mac skip over request for password when waking from sleep?
Thanks.
(The Mac is sleeping, not me.)Open the Security pane of System Preferences and turn that option off.

Firefox keeps asking for password when I send emails
Firefox version 35.0. When I open Firefox and get messages, no problems. When I write an email and send, Firefox asks me for password. I am able to send/receive emails while open. If I close Firefox and open, it asks for password when I send. Months ago, I changed my login password to Netzero.com (made it more secure). Since then, I've had this annoying password request. How to satisfy the login server password for receiving/sending emails?
Is it Firefox asking for the password, or the web site? The only time that
FF will ask for a password is if you have the '''Master Password''' active
in the '''Password Manager.'''
Open the '''Password Manager.''' There is a search bar at the top of the
page. Enter the name of the site. Press the button '''Show Passwords.'''
Is the information correct? '''Note:''' there may be more then one entry.
'''Left''' click the icon in the address bar. A window for displaying site information should come up. Select '''More Information.''' At the top of the window, select '''Security.''' Now select '''View Saved Passwords.''' -
