Mac not recognizing mixer/Audio interface

HELP   HELP    HELP
All you home recording studio enthusiast out there I really need some help, the sooner the better as I have a session tomorrow.  here is my issue.  I can’t record an audio (vocal) track.  Here is my gear, DAW: Reason 8, Mac running Yosemite (version 10.10), mixer: Behringer 1204 USB (with built audio interface).  I’ve also tried the following stand alone audio interfaces, TASCAM US 100 and M-Audio Fast track Pro.  Key board Axiom 25.  I gone into preferences and selected USB Audio CODEC for both output and input on the MAC, did the same under reason preference audio tab.  when I create a audio track in Reason, in the audio input section I see “No audio input”.  When I select the drop down menu there is a section for Mono input and Stereo for me to check this is followed by a grayed out section that states “No audio input available, please check your sound card settings.
The other funny thing is when I use Garage Band, I have no issues recording.  I just recorded in garage band using the Behringer 1204.  Am I missing some simple setting somewhere, missing a channel routing.  I need any help anyone can give me.

Me too!
Almost the same as Rharrell - Reason 8, Mac running Yosemite (version 10.10.3), irig pro audio interface (I pick up my Apogee Duet this week but I think i'll have the same problem). No audio inputs available, please check your sound card settings.
Can anybody help please.

  • Mixer + Audio Interface Combination best for Logic?

I have struggled for the last year with a totally unreliable and unfixable Mackie Onyx 1220 with built in sound card ( which is completely dodgy and keeps disconnecting itself from my Mac. It is definitely not a Logic issue).
There was a thread about a mixerless set up here on the forum a while back which persuaded me to try an expensive MOTU interface but I didnt get on with it and sold it for this current package.
My question is: do any of you have a strong suggestion for make of mixer + audio interface.
I have a small studio for overdubs and need at least 4 mic inputs in the mixer and then a few channels for midi modules/keyboards etc
I was looking at the Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 +... what mixer?
    Thanks for your input

  • Simple mixer/audio interface question

Alesis Multimix 12 Firewire, or Edirol M-16DX ?
For use with Logic, Reason and Live along with 3 stereo output synths, a drum machine and various mono out circuit bent type stuff. Most stuff will be done on the Mac, but I want flexibility to combine the hardware and software as well as mess with the hardware with no Mac connected.
    All comments appreciated.

Thanks for all of your suggestions, but I have to admit they are a bit dissappointing (not in quality!) in so much as I'd pretty much decided that the Edirol was probably perfect for my needs - a decent audio interface with plenty of connections, a mixer and (with the version 2 software) a control surface as a (non essential) bonus. I appreciate it's USB2 rather than Firewire, so accept there may be some limitation on input compared to the manufacturers claims (ie independant recording of up to 16 channels onto seperate tracks in Logic) but in truth I'll probably only ever use maybe 4 at the same time. Plus I've seen some decent reviews of it and it fits into the budget I've set myself (this is just home recording for fun, not some hopeful star in the making)
I know budget gear has it's limits and accept those limitations, but they could well be limits that I'll never actually reach anyway!
So, I'm still listening - tell me your set ups, give me food for thought please as my head is spinning at the moment and it needs to stop.
To recap - 3 stereo synths, drum machine and a few circuit bent toys into and out of Logic.
    Keep helping please!

  • My iPad Air 2 is no longer recognizing my audio interface when I connect.

Basically I am using the camera connection kit to connect to my korg kronos keyboard, which has an audio interface. The couple times that I did this before, it worked. Sound from the iPad was routed to my monitor via the Kronos interface. I don't know what happened but I didn't use it for a week and ever since then when I connect the sound only comes through my iPad. I used to be able to use the Kronos As midi device to control my music apps but even that functionality doesn't work anymore.
ive tried doing a hard reset several times and in several combinations with the Kronos...such as powering both on at the same time but no luck.
the kronos works perfectly when I connect it to my laptop, so I'm convinced it's an issue with the iPad. When I plug the iPad to my computer it is recognized...so it can't be the connection port that is faulty.
THe kronos is the only class compliant device I have to test it on and have been unlucky so far.
    ANy help?

Try doing a hard reset on the iPad. You can also check if your iPad needs to be updated too.
To update go to Settings - General - Software Update
To do a hard reset, i would suggest you do a back up first, either on iCloud or via iTunes.
First try shutting down the device off and on, if that does not help, then you can go ahead and do the hard reset.
    Hard Resetting your device.
On your iPad, press and hold both the SLEEP/WAKE button and the HOME button for about ten (10) seconds. After ten seconds you should see the Apple logo showing up, you can then release your fingers from those buttons. Wait for your iPad to turn up completely, then try connecting your projector again to see if it works. I hope it does. Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

  • Audition CS6 Mac Won't Play Audio Interface Preference Issue

Hi Im having some problems with Audition CS6 mac. I have the full master collection and only encounter this issue with Audition.
    On my Macbook pro
I use my internal speakers/audio or a vrm box audio interface, occasionally Ill use a fasttrack pro to record. My problem occurs after I use the audio interface. When I next open Audition set up for the built in speakers/audio and hit play, it says playing but nothing plays.
When I open Audition after using a external interface going back to my built in macbook audio I get a pop warning that:
"Your systems audio hardware settings have changed. Would you like to go review Audition's audio hardware preferences?"
I click yes,  go to that everything is set for internal mac audio,
hit play, says playing bottom left, then  just sits there.
I noticed today when it did this, that it if I go into the Audio Channel Mapping Preference, it shows what ever audio interface I used last on the output/not working on it. I am unable to change theses settings.
I reboot after changing audio interfaces, etc.
I can delete my Audition preference files in my user folder and it functions again, but that also entails rescanning all plugins which takes some time.

I just found that removing MachineSpecificSettings.xml in the user/preferences/adobe/audition/5.0/  folder will get it to play again under the internal audio settings. And when I look at channel mapping it shows the internal audio.

  • Mainstage not working with audio interface

    Hi,
I'm having problems in using Mainstage with my audio interface, a Tascam US-600.
Mainstage does not receive any input signals when I connect a microphone or a guitar into the Tascam and use it with Mainstage. I selected the audio interface as audio input and tried with all the inputs (from 1 to 6) that the channel strip let me select. For the audio output, when I select the built-in output I can not hear nothing; when I select the Tascam outputs, I can hear just the NON-PROCESSED sounds.
I don't know what to do, because I realized these other facts:
         - Mainstage works with a MIDI device directly connected to the Mac with a MIDI-USB cable;
         - The Tascam, as written above, receive the input signals. Using it with GarageBand it gives me no problems, with the same instruments (both                microphones, guitars and the audio interface) and connections!
         - Also if it gives me problems with feedbacks and noises, the built-in microphone seems to work with Mainstage - at least MS recognise input signals.
Thanks in advance for your answers and sorry for my English if it's not so smooth.

The problem is that since the MacBook only has two USB ports, I am having to use a USB hub. <snip>
When I quit Mainstage and unplug the USB hub and only using either both interfaces, or one interface and the midi controller, it works fine.

Is the Hub a powered one or ?
Sounds like you need a better (powered?) one

  • Update of 10.4.9 not compatable with audio interface

the update of 10.4.9 from 10.4.8 made my audio interface (m-audio 410 firewire) undetectable. is it a good idea to reistall the original software into my macbook? how does this effect my software (logic pro 7, iomega harddrive)? should i remove my software first?
    any recommendations greatly appreciated

After going through this another hour I was able to get it to the login screen and now my websites are back up. At this point I am afraid to fully login.
What worked, not sure if it had anything to do with it was I was able to hold down option and then select the second drive. It then either rebooted like it was supposed to or it did the same thing and died and reboot, hard to tell actually.
Is there cases of the drive volumes getting changed or something like this? I was counting the last 10 restarts, between 5 and 15 seconds before it rebooted. Usually it didn't seem like it had any time for the OS booting to get started.
please help if you have seen this if there is anything I should do?
For the time being while it is up, I am going to update my new server, my second server and set it up.
    thanks.

  • Sync new iPad with Mac bu Mac not recognizing

i plugged my new, first time used iPad into my mac and the mac is not recognizing the iPad. I then plugged the iPad into my PC and the PC did recognize and take me to the registration page in iTunes. I am wanting to sync with the Mac. Any ideas how to get the Mac to recognize?
    Mac OS X
    Version 10.4.11

Yes it is however, you can only use it for the following:
    iPad 1st Gen
    No Uses
    iPad 2
    No Uses
    The New iPad
Use your iPad as a wireless hotspot. 3G/4G Versions only.
I hope this helped. I see you are meaning iPad 2, my iPad 1 sometimes uses my iMac as a hotspot (I think- The simbol is shown), even though my iPad is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as my iMac.

  • Green/amber lights blink & Mac not recognizing unit

I used iTunes and loaded music onto my shuffle this morning with no problems. I listened to it for about an hour and a half. Later, I plugged it into my computer. The computer and iTunes no longer recognizes the unit. Our other computer does not recognize it either. When I connect it to the USB port, it:
    1)blinks green once
    2)pauses
    3)blinks green/amber together
    4)blinks amber thereafter
It still plays music... but of course I can't update the play list and do not know if it is actually charging.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated! I'm unable to do the restore since the computer doesn't know it's connected.

Cannot run the reset utility... the computer is not
recognizing that it is plugged in so I cannot select
    the restore button...
What does Apple System Profiler say about the USB tree AND the "iPod"? Also, disconnect the Shuffle, reboot and try again.
BTW, the light sequence you listed is perfectly NORMAL...with the exception that something is accessing the Shuffle OR it's "enabled for data" e.g. it's being seen as a flash drive.

  • Good but not too expensive audio interface

    Hi,
Can anyone recommend any reasonably cheap audio interfaces that have an xlr mic input and either a firewire output or usb output for use with garageband? I want a good enough signal to be able to record some near professional level vocals ( I realise this is a bit of an arbitrary measurement of quality but you know what I mean). I tried the Phonic Firefly 302 but the signal was terrible and I couldn't get it to work properly (presuming that the signal I got wasn't the best it transmits).
    Cheers.

I also have an ART Tube MP - bought it especially for my 2 Valve Juniors (1 head & cab and 1 V3 Combo)... it works very nice as a volume boost for the cleans (after about 11:00 o'clock the VJ becomes raunchy) and also as a bit of a gain boost too when I crank em up - you can actually overdrive the 12AX7 tube in it. Nice lil' "mod" that requires no soldering and mucking about inside the VJ. I like mine a lot.

  • Mac Not Recognizing External Hard Drive, I Want to Use the HDD to boot Windows

Let's get this stuff straight first:
The Hard Drive is from a PC that I am not using
The Hard Drive already has Windows 8.1 installed as well as all my documents and data. (from the old PC, of course.)
It does work, however after connecting it to my iMac (late 2014 / 5K Retina) it isn't recognized by Finder, Disk Utility or the (Option) Boot screen.
Yes, I understand I will need to install drivers, so I'll need help doing that as soon as we get Yosemite to recognize the HDD.
What I am wanting to do is use this external drive to run Windows from the boot up screen. But I need OS X to actually recognize the drive in the first place. Then I'll need a little help installing the drivers for Windows onto the Drive, unless those are already installed, since it was originally used in my PC? (I'm not sure how drivers work.)
Nonetheless, if it's not possible to be used as an external boot for Windows, I'd still like to use it to obtain and store files/documents on.
    Thanks guys!

How do you have the drive hooked up to your computer? Did you but an adapter? If so, is it one that is supposed to work with a Mac? Did it come with a power supply?
Some of those USB adapters don't work well with Macs and that could be causing problems. Test it on a PC if possible, just to make sure the adapter itself isn't bad.

  • Mac not recognizing USB external hard drive

My Mac OS X 10.5.8 isn't recognizing my Samsung USB external hard drive. The hard drive has already been formatted for a Mac (rather than PC). My computer has recognized the external hard drive before with no problems. I've used it on a campus computer to copy video files from a documentary I was filming, and I've also used it on another campus computer to copy video files from a multimedia piece. I still need these files, so having to erase my hard drive would be DEVASTATING. Now, my computer won't recognize my external hard drive, even when I have it plugged in before turning on my computer.
When I go to Disk Utility, my mac recognizes it, but when I try to repair and verify it says that it failed.
It's also not a problem with the external hard drive because I've plugged it into another computer and it is recognized on the other computer.
    What should I do?

When I go to Disk Utility, my mac recognizes it, but when I try to repair and verify it says that it failed.
Sounds like it's very badly damaged, and it may be too much to expect the data to still be intact. However, you can try repairing it with a more powerful utility, like [DiskWarrior|http://www.alsoft.com/DiskWarrior/index.html] or [TechTool Pro|http://www.micromat.com>. If neither of those can fix it, then your only options will be using a data recovery tool, such as [Data Rescue|http://www.prosofteng.com> or [File Salvage|http://subrosasoft.com/OSXSoftware/index.php?mainpage=product_info&productsid=1], or paying an expensive data recovery service to disassemble the drive and recover what they can.
Of course, this would all have been avoided if you had backups of your data. In the future, you must have a minimum of three copies of any data you don't want to lose.

  • Mac cannot see my audio interface

    Hi,
Please help!! I have recently purchased logic studio. In trying to set it up I keep on hitting a brick wall. I have connected my midi controller into my Edirol UA25 and connected the audio capture unit to my Macbook as shown. In the Midi/Audio settings my Mac cannot see the midi input even though Iam able to select the UA25 as an input and output device.
I've been searching the web and logic manuals for hours now!
Any answers would be massively appreciated.
    Will

Hi jeb70. Hsve you selected the edirol in mac system preferences as preferred audio device? Also try unplugging the cable from the interface to the mac and replugging once logic is running. Also check if the track in logic has edirol inputs selected as that track's inputs. Hope this helps. Scorpii.

  • Mac not recognizing Yamaha YPT-300

I am trying to connect my Yamaha keyboard to my iMacHD running version 10.8.5 but am having problems.  I have an MIDI to USB cord (it is a Mio brand) and have already downloaded the driver needed from the Yamaha website.  When I go to the MIDI Audio control panel it does not recognize it and also under system preferences and the Yamaha USB-MIDI window the drop down box is empty under Device Name.  I am at a loss for how to get it to connect and any help would be greatly appreciated

    The short version:
Go to Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility and select your volume and then select Repair Permissions.
Same directions are also in the OS Mac Help Menu.
they do not offer tech support for any Mac over version 10.5
Have you considered, it's no longer compatible w/your current OS?  Their user forums may offer work-a-rounds.  Ya never know!
