Mac on Acer Laptop

Hello all.. I was wondering if it's possible and not too hard to install Mac OS on a laptop or a regular PC. I've got a nice 3.4ghz intel dual core for a pc and a 1.6 turion dual core in my laptop... With this ongoing B.S. of vista and what not I think I'm going to convert to MacOS but hoping I don't have to purchase new hardware just yet.

Not to mention, efforts to install it probably will result in a system that has lots of peripheral compatibility issues, as well as issues attempting to update. Get a Mac Mini http://www.apple.com/macmini/ if you want a new Mac able to run both Windows and Mac OS X, or faster Mac. Older Macs may be able to run Windows, but for most software needs out there, you don't need Windows to be able to get the same functionality as Windows applications available. See my FAQ*:

Sell the Acer, and get a Mac if you want Mac OS X.

But you can install any version of Windows or Linux legally on an Apple notebook. That has to do with license agreements. You can read all the license agreements for Apple's operating systems here:

I've burnt a slideshow of my photos onto a DVD disc but it will not play on my DVD player. It plays ok on my acer laptop. I burnt the same disc with slideshow from my old dell computer

I've burnt a slideshow of my photos on my Apple Mac to a DVD+REW disc but it will not play on my DVD player or on a combined DVD/TV. However it will play on my wife's Acer laptop. I then erased the disc & burned another slideshow from my ancient Dell computer onto the same disc &it played just fine on everything. So it seems the problem ids somewhere in the Apple Mac process. Any ideas?

You need to install Office on the computer from the installer DVD or disc image you purchased.

It's a common issue. The Basic panel is merely hidden.
Hiding/unhiding panels is actually a feature of Lightroom but it is unintuitive - few people know it exists - so most newcomers are thrown when a panel somehow gets hidden.
Right-click anywhere in the right hand side panel area and a context menu will appear.
Click the Basic option to make the Basic panel re-appear.

Go to this link to download the installer and this link to determine which version you have installed. Always get extensions like this from the publisher (in this case Adobe) and not from some website that says you need an extension and offers to install it for you since you may end up with malware instead.
BTW, once the current version of Flash is installed, you can set its preferences to update automatically in the background.

If you want Everything in iTunes...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

Is it possible to transfer emac HD info to a later mac desktop or laptop?

I want to take my internal HDD from my emac and transfer the info off that to a later mac desktop or laptop.
Is that possible?
I have the internal HDD plus I have all its info backed up on a 400 Firewire / USB external HD.
My OS X is 10.5.8 and I have the original 10.3.5 discs as well as the Leopard 10.5.1 disc.
I would like to retain my present OS as I don't like the later Operating Systems.
Is that even possible?
I have no idea how it would work so I'd be grateful for any help.

10.6 is ever so much nicer than 10.5. I stuck at 10.6 on my Intel iMac because I thought I needed Rosetta to run an older version of Creative Suite. When I decided to leave CS on an older G4 Mac, that reason to keep 10.6 faded.
Then the family bought two new Macs that came with Mtn Lion 10.8. Although there are a few things I find a little to "new" or "socially-networked" (i'm not) they are minor enough to make me seriously consider moving my computer there also. And I'm about as picky as they come.
If you have old software that requires a PowerPC Mac, you should keep the old eMac in service if possible

Yes, you can use the staller CD that came with your iPod. It should have all the iPod Updater and iTunes software needed for your iPod and your new computer.
Also, if you don't have the CD available or you want a different way, you can install iTunes 6.0.5 from Apple's website. See this link for installation:

You may try the procedures in this support article. I suspect a trip to the Apple genius bar will be the best option. You probably have some hardware issues, such as the display or the GPU and the technicians will be to make to make a definitive determination.

I recently got my long desired MAC, after my laptop crashed. Is there anyway to get all of the music that I have already invested in, in iTunes, on my new Mac? I thought that it had been saved to an external hard drive, but there were only photographs.

Don't they have a record of my purchases, that could be downloaded to this new computer? I thought I had it on an external hard drive, after a friend tried to save my itunes and photographs, but there are only photographs on the hard drive..... Any help would be most appreciated! Keyboard froze today on my HP pc and on my Acer laptop. both run on Windows 8.1

Is anyone experiencing a freeze in their keyboard running on Windows 8.1 ? I not seeing a bug on the net that matches my symptoms : the mouse is working good and the PC seems fine but I cannot type anything and number 1 is lid up on the keyboard. Similar issue same day on my Windows 8.1 Acer laptop . I can type my password but as soon as I go to the Google toolbar to search there is no keyboard response at all...

I understand that you are having issues with Windows 8.1 on two different computers where you keyboard freezes up when you click on the Google Toolbar. I am providing you with a WinHelp document: Internet Explorer 11 Troubleshooting that I would like you to review and use to disable the Add-Ons in your browser. If this resolves your issue I would recommend that you uninstall your Add-Ons starting with the Google Toolbar until you find the one that is causing you grief.

I have been told that I am able to transfer with bluetooth to other non apple devices wih the iphone 5. devices are finding each other but are not able to connect. The iPhone syncs wirelessly via Wi-Fi, not bluetooth.
