Mac opening exe. files with Captivate 5

I am a Mac user and need to open exe. files from my lecturer. I have got Captivate 5 and have updated it with the patch BUT nothing I seem to do enables me to open the files. Can anyone please help?

Hello,
MAC will not open .exe files as .app is the extension for MAC Executable files, or if you want to install an application on MAC, you can use .dmg format
Thanks

  • Opening .exe files from captivate

Hi there everyone - I'm new here, my name is Jane and my main
interest is in captivate. I need some help. What I want to do is
open .exe files using captivate. So I create a new button and
choose as the action - open url or file. I find the file on my
local system - a .chm file and in other situations it will be a
.exe file made in multimedia builder and click ok.
Having placed the .cp the swf and the .chm / .exe in the same
file ( as in before, the path is correct ) what I get is the
dialogue box to Save / cancel - What I want to see is, (on a
windows computer ) the .chm file just open, or the .exe file just
open. I need this for web and for cd/dvd -
Someone PLEEEEAAASSSEE tell me it can be done somehow.
( if your suggestion is about - open a browser window -
unfortunatly for my needs i just don't think I can do that )

hi there retro - I have never used menu builder - its not
part of what I need - so im not sure how to do what you are saying
    - also - my hope was that - I could add in a graphic / button on
any slide i like and through that button launch the .exe file - do
you think this is possible - if not - am i right in thinking - the
only place where the user can download the file is before they
start watching, at the menu stage? I guess that is ok for the CD
production - although not really what I wanted, and as for the web
    - I could do it in dreamweaver I wounld not use captivate.
Could you tell me quickly how I should do what you are
suggesting - ill give it a try and see if its an acceptable work
    around.
I suppose im asking to much if i were to say, what i really
really want is - for the app to symataniouly open - e.g. the use
clicks on a pdf / .exe / .chm and the app opens along with the file
    .

  • How to open .exe files with Ibook G4 ??

Hello, I have an ibook G4 since 2004 that I used only for photos & Music. Now I need to use it for work and cannot install anything since it refuses to run .exe files.
    Did someone had same issue ? How did you solve it ?? The fact is I'm trying to install adsl connection so cannot download anything before I've managed to run this file ;
Thanks a lot for your help

    Hi again,
Isn't there a set-up wizard within the web interface? I'm not familiar with the Speedtouch 585 but you should connect to it with an ethernet cable and connect the 585 to your phone/cable socket. In your browser address bar put: 192.168.1.254 and hit the 'Enter' key. This will get you to the web interface of the router. Using the manual that came with the router navigate to the relevant pages and enter the settings that were provided by your ISP. Save the settings. The router may or may not restart but should connect if you have entered the settings correctly.
Once it is set up and connected and if your iBook has an Airport card you will be able to connect wirelessly with this router.
    Good luck,
    Adrian

  • Error when trying to open Mac file with Captivate 6 Win

I've tried opening Captivate 6 files (.cptx/.cptl) that were created on the Mac version with Captivate 6 on Win7. Got the error message "can't open file" telling me to check the file and my resources. Resources are ok, the file was sent via email.
How can I set up a workflow for Captivate 6 between Mac and PC users that works? The discussion to Win files crashing Captivate Mac didn't help as there's no solution posted. Are there any issues concerning the compatibility of Mac and Win files within Captivate 6?
Any help is very much appreciated a we've got a deadline looming.

  • Opening exe files on a Mac (OS X mountain lion)

    Hello,
I need to open exe files on my Macbook pro currently on the OS X Mountain Lion. I can't figure out how to open them, I know there are ways but I cant seem to find one that works. I would prefer one that is COMPLETELY free. Please respond ASAP!
    Thanks!

Well, if is a not to complex application that doesn't need a lot of resources, you may be lucky and be able to create a Mac version by encapsulating it in WINE with WineBottler: http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/
Beware, Mac & Windows savvyness required. Not Plug & Play. But it IS free....

  • Opening exe files on mac

I have downloaded .exe files, but do not know which application to open the file with.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.
    Saima

Hi Saima. Just as Lyssa mentioned, files with an .exe extension are applications that can only be opened on Windows based computers. If you can let us know what kind of applications you downloaded, we could maybe point you in the direction of similar Mac compatible programs.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers!

For the D600 NEF's you have two alternatives: (1) Upgrade to PSE 11. (2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)  Windows download click here DNG Converter 7.3  Mac download click here DNG Converter 7.3  You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial: You Tube click here for DNG Converter tutorial

    is that the eos 5d?
if so, you only need cr 3.3 or greater.  what version do you have in your cs4? (help>about plugins>camera raw)

  • How do I open .exe files on my mac?

How do I open .exe files on my mac? I've downloaded a bunch of programs but they are all in .exe format. Do I need a program to extract these files?
    Thanks,

Ok thanks. So how do you install programs that you download from the internet? I've downloaded some programs and when I try to install them it doesn't work.
First of all, you need to download things that are built to run on OS X - there is no way to install any Windows program in OS X.  You need windows to run Windows programs.
Most downloadable programs for OS X will be distributed in a Disc Image file - *.dmg  You would double click one to open it.  Then, often it is as simple as drag the uncompressed folder to your Applications Folder.  Sometimes there may be an installer to run.  Once installed, you can eject the mounted dmg (drag it to the trash) and either keep is in case you ever need to reinstall, or delete it.

  • I can't open PDF files with adobe flash player

I have installed it and whenever I try to open pdf files it says I need to agree with your liscens and you do that automatically when you download it. I have followed all your instructions on your website and uninstalled it and installed again, but I can't open pdf files with it. I don't know what the problem is exactly, but it's really frustrating..

Flash Player CANNOT open PDFs because they AREN'T Flash Documents.
    Adobe Reader opens PDFs.
To accept the license agreement (NOT the one you accepted to download or install - the one for USE)
    Windows:
Go to: C/Program Files(x86)/Adobe/Reader 11.0/Reader and double click the eula.exe file. The license agreement will open for you to accept.
    Mac:
Go to: Mac HD/Applications and double click the Reader app. The license agreement will open THE FIRST TIME you open it.

  • Opening a file with FILE_SHARE_DELETE mode (Only on Windows)

    Hi,
We have an application that imports logs from several 3rd party vendor's applications. Basically what we do is import the logs in real time, i.e we do have a live FileInputstream connection to the log file. Now, when the 3rd party applications that rotate these logs (many of them do when they grow big or scheduled periodically), all unix flavors dont see to have any problem, while the windows does complain that the device or resource is busy and the original application is not allowed to rotate it. When i dug into the native code of windows jvm, i found that the file is not opened in the FILE_SHARE_DELETE mode and only with FILE_SHARE_READ and FILE_SHARE_WRITE modes. When we wrote a separate C++ application the opens a file with FILE_SHARE_DELETE mode, we found that the logs are rotatable.
Now, how can we instruct the JVM to open a file with FILE_SHARE_DELETE mode? Is there any such implementation already or do i have to come up with another class extending the FileInputStream and use a totally different open method where the file is opened with this mode in the native code?
    Thanks
    Manava

    Hello,
I think you can write :
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec("start.exe " + MyFileDialog.getDirectory() + MyFileDialog.getFile());
So, "start.exe" choose the application (not valid for NT machine), ".getDirectory()" return the PATH and ".getFile()" return the NAME.

  • I am unable to open files on amything!!! a box pops up that asks me what do i want to open the file with..every time!! I want files to open when i click on them!! This happens with emails, websites, everything

I try to open attachments in emails and they will not open! A box comes up asking 'what do I want to open the file with', and it wants me to select from a list of options like - Firefox, IE, Word, Yahoo Browser. When I make a selection (usually Firefox) a new tab opens with a blank page! This always happens on attachments, links, websites......everything!

These files were lost two years ago.
That's not consistent with what you wrote in your first message. I can't help you unless I know what's going on. Either you do, or do not, have backups of all the data you want to keep. If you do not, then the first thing you need to do is back up those files. It makes zero sense to do anything else. In order to back up, you'll need either of two things: another Mac, in working order, with a FireWire port and enough space on its internal drive to hold your files; or an external drive, also with enough space.
On the other hand, if you do have backups, or if you simply don't care about any of the data, then the solution to your problem may be quite simple. All you have to do is boot from your installation disc (your profile says you're running Mac OS 10.5), erase your internal drive, reinstall the Mac OS, then restore your data from backup. You will need to be selective in restoring software, because incompatible software may be what caused the issue.
But it's also possible that you have a hardware failure, in which case you can't get your computer working again until it's repaired.

  • Opening a file with custom FileDialog. (VERY URGENT)

    hi everybody,
I have a problem and stuck. I have developed a MDI application that provides all function like open saved files, create new, edit and lots of other. It only opens, save ,edit etc the graphical diagrams inside JInternalFrames. I have an icon on my desktop when clicked opens this Application. Just like Editplus, Word or some other application when you click on the icon it opens that. Same way I have created such functionality.
Now instead of this I have created a custom FileDialogfrom which the user selects this application and is opened. Now I have small icon for this FileDialog on the desktop when opened gives the interface to select the files to be opened. My FileDialog just looks like the FileDialog but some more functionality and more components like JComboBox, Jlist, JtextField, JButtons etc. in it and have removed some of them. I am extending JDialog. But now my probelm is when you select a file and click open, it should open the selected file. How can I achive this functionality in my custom FileDialog as I am not extending FileDialog and as it is built in the FileDialog. How can I open the files with any extension in it's related application e.g .doc files to be opened in MicrosoftWord, .txt to be opened in notepad, .c or .cpp in Visual Studio C++ etc.
How can I put this kind of functionality in my custom FileDialog. It's really important for me please any comments will help me alot. Thanks for the help
