Mac OS 10.4.11 and iTunes 8.2 in April 2011 - no access to music

I understand Mac OS 10.4.11 and iTunes 10 are not compatible, but why can't I keep using my iTunes 8.2 with my OS10.4.11 to access music on iTunes? Does anyone know how to make this work?
There's too much bullying of people who are not adopting updates within the timeframes Apple feels are appropriate.

Thanks Diane! I'm downloading it now. I didn't know there were still newer versions of iTunes that would work with my current system (10.4.11). To answer your question: I've been able to access my library, but as of this week, I can't access the store. First, it was only the store main page (many months ago) that wouldn't appear. A warning came up, "please update." But I could search for artists and go to their specific pages. Now, I can't even do that.
I never updated to 10.5 because the word was Logic Pro (audio software) wasn't working well with the then new 10.5. So I stuck with 10.4.11. Everything has been problem free. Now we're far beyond that system, and so me (and others, I'm sure), are getting flushed into incompatibility because we can't afford an intel processor.
I guess finally purchasing a now rare 10.5 system update would hold off my extinction.

    You'll need to get it all onto one iTunes collection on your Mac Pro, then sync the devices to that.  iTunes only lets you transfer purchases from a device, otherwise you have to use third party software.
    I guess you could also look into getting iTunes Match.

    You would have to sign in with your account. Be aware that an iDevice or Mac or PC can only be associated with a particular iCloud/ iTunes in the Cloud account once every 90 days. So if you associate your iTunes in the cloud/Match account with her iPhone ,she will have to wait 90 days before going back to HER itunes in the cloud account.

    But you can still use the items in each iTunes library.
    Create separate computer logins for each of you.

    Not all content types are available in all countries, and unfortunately where you are you will only have apps, podcasts, iTunes U and free books - the full list of what is available where is shown on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3599 . As the terms of use of the stores state that you can only use your own country's store, you also can't get music or films from Apple from other country's stores.
    Are there other music and/or film purchase download sites that you can use in the UAE ? For music you can also copy your own CDs and sync them to the iPad

    But make sure Wi-Fi is enabled on the iPhone.

Immediately after upgrading my computer i attempted to sync my iphone and itunes started bringing up error messages about my cloud storage and how my iphone had some sort of authorization issue, which is strange seeing as ive never had another apple account. next thing i know my device isnt even being read by itunes. tried unplugging it, using a different cord, reseting comp etcetc all the simple stuff and still no luck. it is not just itunes as my iphone is not even recognized as a device in my finder. i even restarted my iphone completely even knowing i wouldnt be able to get my music back on  it if this attempt failed and what do you know nothing changed after the restart. so now im left with no music and photos on my phone and am completely frusterated. please help

  • I transferred files from a NAS server to the Mac Mini Snow Leopard Server and now some of the files have Custom Access and can't  be opened by some users.  How do I fix this?

    We're setting up our Mac Mini Snow Leopard Server, and in the process transferred files that had been stored and accessed from our Blackarmor NAS server over to the Mac.  These files were all created on PC's and are Office Excel files, WordPerfect files or PDF's.  When you look at the files on the Mac from the Mac and bring up Get Info for the affected file, it says that the file has Custom Access.  The files that work properly don't have that configuration.  I can access and open the files on some computers, but some users can't open the files from their computer even though they can see it.  We're all using PC's and they get the Error:  Access Denied-Contact your administrator--or something similar.  I've seen on the web similar issues and it may have something to do with ACL permissions.  I don't know enough about Mac OS to understand this, but what is baffling is that they can be opened from some PC's but not others, and all of the Users have the same accessibility to the files.  Thanks for a solution!!

    System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.

    System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
    The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
    Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.
    For 10.5/10.6, System Preferences>Network, unlock the lock if need be, highlight the Interface you use to connect to Internet, click on the advanced button, click on the DNS tab, click on the little plus icon, then add these numbers...

    As the specifications page for the iPad says, you need OS X 10.5.8 or later because you need at least iTunes 10.2, which requires OS X 10.5.8.  Depending on what Mac you have and how much RAM and disk space you have, it may be possible to upgrade your existing Mac to 10.5.8.  If you have a Mac with an Intel CPU, you might be able to install OS X 10.6.
    If you post what Model mac you have and how much RAM and free disk space, we may be able to advise if you can or should upgrade to 10.5 or 10.6, or whether you need a new computer.

    First check to see if your Mac can run Snow Leopard:

    I recently took my Imac G5 to the apple store as my disc got corrupt. They kindly did the necessary but now I cant get itunes to open as it says I need version quicktime 7.5.5 or later on it. I cannot download the next quicktime because I need leopard???
