Mac os 10.4.11 on ppc (i.e. pre-intel). Firefox 4 does not install. is it compatible?
I was trying to upgrade to the newest version (4) of Firefox, but when I installed the software, I get error -10661 saying the app cannot be launched. I have Mac OS X10.4.11 (PowerPC, not Intel chip).
Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac. There is a third party build that runs on OS X 10.4 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox

You are doing 2 things wrong:
1. you are trying to run EXE file(installer) on MAC
2. You are trying to run a very old application on latest configuration which is not compatible and may not fulfill the appropriate requirement.

It has been rejected by following reason.
This app does not check for the existence of a purchase receipt, which can prevent In-App Purchases from being correctly processed.
We recommend implementing receipt validation to resolve this issue.
At a minimum, the app will need to check for the existence of an App Store receipt and exit at launch with a status of 173 if it does not exist.
Any help ?

I have a Mac OS X 10.6.8 Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Cor i5 does it have and intel chip or PowerPC processor? The example given to have this chip was an i7 not sure if that is necisary or if the "intel core" is what is required.
The word Intel means that it has an Intel CPU.

I have an issue with my computer. the volume was working fine on wednesday june 29th 2011 (thats the last I could remember) and today is july 3rd 2011. so when I start the computer up it does not let me play anything trough the iTunes volume when I start a song it goes immediately to pause but no sound comes out. When I click on the volume in the menu bar it does not allow me to raise the volume up, nor does it allow me to play volume through my speakers when I am on youtube.com. AND when I go to system preferences it has checked off that it is on mute, BUT it is a light gray color and it does not let me check the setting off. please help! what do I do? I think it is still under warranty because it is only between 11 months-12 months old.

Start by running SW update. It's not that there is a specific fix, but when updating it may rewrite some system files which may get this going again purely as a side affect. Worth a go, and should not harm the system.
Try reset the PRAM - Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
Hopefully one of these quick fixes works, otherwise we'll need to try isolate the issue next - so if still having a problem, I'd try create a new user and login as that user to see if the issue persists (which will tell us if it's system wide or user specific) -
I need to do live streaming with a Mac Book Pro 2011, using a new model of Sony HD camcorder (http://store.sony.co...ber=HDRAX2000/H) ..this camcorder model does not have firewire out/input ..it comes only with a component video output, USB, HDMI and composite A/V video output..
I wonder how can I plug this camcorder to the firewire port of my laptop? ThanxI can't broadcast with the built in iSight webcam... how would I zoom in or zoom out? or how would I pan? I've seem people doing it walking with their laptops but that's not an option for me... there's nothing wrong with my USB ports but that's neither an option to stream video because as far as I know through USB you can't connect video in apple operating systems ..you can for sure plug any video cam or photo camera through usb but as a drive to transfer data not as a live video camera... is by firewire an old interface developed by apple that you can connect all sorts of cameras to apple computers... unfortunately my new sony HDR-AX2000 camcorder doesn't have firewire output...

Mac OS X Lion does not install!!!
So I purchased Mac OS X Lion on the app store. It began to download. When I clicked to install the new OS X LION it stops and says "It could not install because it could not be verified with apple. Your download might have been corrupted during the download". What the heck is going on. I tried uninstalling it reinstalling it (as an apple technician told me to do so over the phone) and it didnt work. I have all the spec requirements needed to upgrade to LION but still it will not download to my computer. I paid 30 bucks for this upgrade and Apple will not refund me. Can someone please help me!!! Thanks.
If it has been corrupted during download then delete it and get a fresh copy.

I am trying to transfer photos, music, etc from my Power Mac G5 to my new iMac. The Power Mac is too old for the migration assistant to help. I have an old Firewire but it does not fit the new iMac. Any suggestions? If a Firewire is the best option which one do I need? Thanks.
You need a Firewire 800 to 400 adapter or cable or a external USB 2/3 drive (self powered) it can default to the old USB the G5 uses 1 or 2.

Yup, your question and Diane's answer helped me also. Tho' I had had problems before getting into the iTunes store I always managed to find a way. Today they had me blocked cold with the "Update to 10" advert no matter what I did. Other questioners are being told, incorrectly as it turns out, that they have to update their OS to accomodate iTunes 10 and upgrade to iTunes 10. I did the download which did not take up much more room on my crowded old hard drive and now I'm back in business.

I have recently fully updated my mac to 10.8.2 and i am trying to install a small facebook application but every time i come to chose the disk it says ' OS X facebook developer preview can not be installed on this disk. This volume of this disk does not meet the requirements for this update' any ideas on how to get round this?
thanksThat may be the new Mountain Lion "sandbox" protective software kicking in, possibly, because ML "thinks" that App doesn't meet ML's new strict security requirements. A common phenomena. If you feel the 3rd party App is really OK, you can override this feature and install the new App by holding down the Command key when you click to install the new App. That's one possibility for the error message appearing. If not, another possibility is that that Developer Preview software package requires some previous piece of software be installed prior to downloading this Preview. You would have to check the Facebbok websiste's Developer Forums for help if this is the case.

Mac Firefox v21 will not auto update to v26, it asks to download the .dmg. Why will it not auto update?
Sometimes it just doesn;t work, you can try downloading a new copy from mozilla.org though.
