Mac OS 10.4 printing to Windows XP Printer

I have tried everything. The windows computer has printer sharing enabled, and everything. It is connected wirelessly. I used to be able to, with 10.3, but after upgrading to 10.4, I can't. The Windows printer won't show up in the printer list...It is Epson SP RX500

It may be a driver issue.

In most cases you can connect to the Windows shared printer from the Mac. But there is a dependence on the Mac driver being compatible. For many consumer inkjets, the vendor created driver cannot be used for this type of connection so you need to look at alternative drivers, such as Gutenprint or PrintFab. If you can tell us which brand and model of printer you have shared from Windows then we can answer your question with the preferred procedure on the Mac.

Windows, Mac Non-wireless Mac, Airport Extreme and Printer

I bought a Canon Pixma MP500 printer at the Tice's Corner Apple Store. We wanted to put this in the back of our Airport Extreme and did so. Here is our hook up:

The eMac goes through the ethernet input, and the other ethernet input goes to the cable modem. We have a printer in the back hooked up as well. This Airport Extreme provides wireless security and working WiFi internet to the eMac, a wireless iBook G4 and a wireless HP-Compaq NC6220 Windows XP computer. We have the macs hooked up to printing correctly, just not the HP-Compaq. Thus it is wireless nad connects to our internet interface fine (yes, the wireless switch is on), it is a company computer with a VPN and firewall (that allows for printer installation). Note that the HP-Compaq nc6220 uses Intel ProSet Wireless as its wireless client. I tried installing Bonjour for Windows and the steps in the article in the link: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107998and it did not work. Therefore, I cannot wirelessly print on all 3 computers. The main problem is the HP-Compaq. I am out of things to try.

If the PC is connected to the work VPN then it is part of the work network and can no longer access local resources on your network such as a printer.

I asking about networking between mac os 10.6.1 and windows 7
on windows 7, I opened file,printer sharing on (workgroup)homegroup.
on mac os 10.6.1, finder->go->computer. It show Macintosh HD & Network, click on Network, there is nothing there.
The only I can do is.... finder->go->connect to server (input smb://192.168.xxx.xxx and connect)
After that, on finder->go->computer->network is showing up 192.168.xxx.xxx
MY QUESTION IS HOW I CAN SEE WINDOWS (workgroup)HOMEGROUP ON MAC OS 10.6.1 BEFORE CONNECTED TO 192.168.XXX.XXX BY HAND?

I think you are asking, in effect, why you can't see your smb shares in "Shared" in the sidebar of a finder window? Often Sno does not make that connection automatically, and one must connect via smb://IpAddress (or computer network name). Once you do so, if you keep the connection active, then the Win7 machine is likely to be found under Shared eventually. The only way I have found to keep shares showning under Shared for an extended period is to keep all pertinent machines from sleeping over the period of expected access.

Mac Mail won't print to Epson NX515 - It worked fin until the last few days - contacted Epson and reinstalled drivers. Can print from Safari, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro, etc just not Mac Mail.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

Installing Printomatic 1.8 (Mac) on Director 11.5 for Windows

I need to upgrade an existing Windows/Mac projector to 11.5. The projector uses Printomatic for printing and I'm developing on Windows. I downloaded the 1.8 beta release from the Printomatic site for both Windows and Mac.
I've got the Windows xtra installed and it appears to be working with no problem so far. Now I need to install the Mac xtra. Looking at other discussions, it sounds like others have been able to install the Printomatic 1.8 beta 5 release successfully. I hope one of you can help me because I haven't been able to find any instructions for installing the Mac xtra.
I've copied the PMatic_180b5_Mac folder to my ...\Adobe Director 11\Configuration\Cross Platform Resources\Macintosh\Xtras folder. When I try to build the projector, I'm getting a "Can't find the Xtra file 'PrintoMatic MX'" message . I checked the list of xtras in the Modify->Movie->Xtras options and the Printomatic MX xtra is the only "Printomatic" xtra I've got.
I've also tried copying the PrintOMatic MX.xtra folder to the ...\Adobe Director 11\Configuration\Cross Platform Resources\Macintosh\Xtras folder but that's not working for me either.

I downloaded the 1.8 release (not the one on the beta page) and it gave me the instructions. I've been able to create the projectors for both Windows and Mac. Unfortunately, my license number is too old for the newest version. Since the Printomatic folks are not responding, does anyone have a license that I can use for 1.8?

Mac doesn't wake printer up. Printer connected to Airport Express' USB

Setup here is:
- Brother printer (all-in-one DCP-7060D) hooked up to the USB port of an Aiport Express.
- MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
- Wi-fi network serving multiple devices.
- One of the devices is a PC running Windows 7.
Problem here is:
The printer enters into a "Deep Sleep" mode after some time of inactivity, as indicated on its little screen. In this mode, only the PC running Windows 7 can successfully wake the printer up automatically when it sends a print command. In other words, I'm working on the PC, say in a Word document. I hit "Print", bingo, the printer wakes up, does its thing and beautifully spits out a printed copy of my Word document. As it should.
On the other hand, if I'm working on any Macintosh computer on the same wi-fi network, say in a Word document, I hit print and nothing happens with the printer. On the Print Queue in the Mac that sent the print order, it says the printer is offline.
This problem kind of comes and goes and I've already updated the printer's firmware and drivers (strangely, this is one of those that don't come in OS X by default).
Ideas? Suggestions?

Ya' know.. I'm not totally sure. I went to Airport Utility... selected my base station, clicked on Manual Setup... clicked on Disks and saw that my USB Drive was listed. After that I opened the finder, went to network, connected to my base station from there and my USB Drive popped up and I mounted it.
It's been working fine since.

All Photoshop versions through CS6 came with platform-specific licenses, either Windows or PC. You could get a cross-grade of platform swap at a nominal cost but not for older versions, only for whatever Photoshop versions was current at the time.
CS3 is totally out of the upgrade or cross-grade loop. You'd have to buy a new license for CS6 Mac or subscribe to Photoshop CC, as Trevor points out.
Curt Y is correct in that CS2 will not run on current Mac-Intel machines. You would need a used Mac G5 or G4 with a PowerPC (IBM) CPU, which have been obsolete since mid 2006.
Of course, you could run your Windows on your Mac if you installed and ran BootCamp or Parallells.

Don't know! You'll have to give us more details of what's happening when you try. Can you print other documents OK? When you try to print, does the printer icon appear in the dock - click on it and see if there are any printer messages.

Why can I not see shared applications on iTunes on a Mac but can on Itunes under Windows

1. I have a Mac Laptop, a Windows 7 laptop and an IPAD Air. I have an application on the IPad that shares files.
2. On both the Windows and Mac machines, I have the latest versions of ITunes installed.
3. With Image and IPhoto, I can browse the Documents directory of the shared application on the IPAD.
4. On the Windows Machine, on ITunes, under the Apps section, at the bottom of the screen, I can see the shared application and the shared Documents directory.
5. On my Mac Machine, on Itunes, under the Apps section, at the bottom of the screen, I can NOT see the same shared application on the IPAD that I see on the Windows machine.
6. In the upper right corner of Itunes on the MAC it does show "1 App" but I see no way to click on the app under ITunes and to browse the shared directory on the IPad
Any thoughts on what I have to do to make the Shared App show up on the Mac that shows up on the Windows machine in ITunes?

Did you put your audiobooks on your computer?
They will only be where you put them. You need to copy them from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer.

a) type the key combination <CMD> + <OPT> + <ESC>
b) you select the menu item " > Force Quit..."
