Mac OS 10.4 wont reinstall!

I have recently purchased a new Macbook Pro and decided to wipe my old Powerbook G4 and let my brother have it. I put in the OS disc and went through the steps to reinstall it but when it comes to installing the second disc an install error pops up and asks me to try again. I have tried again with no progress and now I cant do anything with it.I tried reinserting the first disc and start over but it picks back up asking to put in disc two. Anyone think they can help me out?

Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Are you sure you have the correct disk for the Powerbook G4?

Tells you which discs came with which Macs. This tells you how to identify your Powerbook G4:

Macs can only install the operating system that came with them, and newer retail installer discs to the limit of the hardware.

Mac OS Mountain Lion wont start. It's just stuck on white screen with spinning gear, once the white screen goes, I get a kernel panic...I suspect this issue has been caused by the recently installed xcode, it was the last program I installed this morning

Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.
And, remove XCode. If it's needed then be sure you install the current release version for Mountain Lion.

    OK. If you believe that.
When the disk is starting to die it can be bad for a moment and then be good for a while. If there was no problem while you were checking it of course it shows up good.
I tell you those are the signs of a disk that is about to die.

    HI Corey ...
Yes. Make sure you use the same Apple ID.
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed  then click Install.
Make sure and use the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
If you can't re dowload the apps, launch iTunes. From the iTunes menu bar top of your screen click Store > Authorize This Computer. Sign out of the iTunes store and try re downloading your apps from the App Store again.

Hello! Tried unsuccessfully to restore my MBP, running the Mac OSX Lion, to factory settings. I keep getting the "can't download additional components for the Mac OSX Lion" error when reinstalling the OSX Lion. Any tips on how to resolve this problem?

    Hi
Given that your answer to 1. is 'pre-installed' and 3. is 'No', I think the only thing to do is to take it to an Apple store (ideally the one you bought it from) and have them reinstall it for you.
The intended solution in cases like yours is that you should be able to reboot and install even a wiped disk by using Apple's servers over the internet (you do this by restarting with 'command-r' and choosing 'reinstall Lion'). However if this isn't working for you then you need to get the store to do it. Don't let them fob you off with 'go home and try again'. Have them do it in the shop (you're still covered by Applecare warranty so it should cost you nothing save the inconvenience of the trip and possibly leaving the machine there while they fix it).
A reinstall should leave all your own personal data and programs in place.
Note for future: when you get it fixed, first thing to do is buy a cheap external drive and start keeping a backup (either Time Machine or clone with Carbon Copy Cloner).

    No.
Modern Macs run OS X 10.9.x on Intel processors.
    CS2 only runs on

  • I reinstalled lion os x for my mac, but it didn't reinstall iLife

I reinstalled lion os x for my mac, but it didn't reinstall iLife with garage band etc. Lion was downloaded from internet in 2011, how do I get them back on my computer? It won't let me access it from the ap store. Says not available in my store location. What do I do?

Restoring iLife applications after Internet Restore of OS X Lion
If you reinstall Lion / Mountain Lion on a new Mac that shipped with OS X Lion / Mountain Lion installed, on an erased or replaced hard drive, you can download iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand from the Mac App Store.
After installation, start from Lion / Mountain Lion
Double-click the App Store icon in the dock.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Purchases.
If you haven't previously accepted your bundled iLife applications within the Mac App Store, you should see your iLife applications appear in the Accept portion of the screen. Click Accept.
You may be asked for your Apple ID and password once again. Your iLife applications now move to the Purchased section. These applications are part of the software that came with your Lion based computer. Your account will not be charged for them. Click Install to compete installation of your applications.

I bought lightroom 5 last december, I install on my old PC. Today I buy a Mac and I try to reinstall my lightroom with the serial number I have.  It's said wrong number can I have a new number?

This is a user to user forum so there is no one here to provide you with a new serial number or to reset your serial number.
It is possible that you are trying to activate an installation of the Creative Cloud version of Lightroom. It is not possible to do so with your License Key. You need to uninstall the existing version that you have installed. This will not interfere with your catalog, Preferences or personal files, it will just remove the application.
Then download the perpetual license from the link below. Install and it should accept your license key just fine.

    paul dave,
to reïnstall Mavericks on your 13-inch Mid 2012 MacBook Pro, you can try booting into Recovery mode by holding down ⌘R as your MacBook Pro starts up. Eventually it will show an OS X Utilities menu on the desktop; select Reïnstall OS X from that menu, and follow the instructions which it provides to reïnstall it onto its internal disk.

  • Wont turn on... Wont reinstall Mac OS X... Please help!

    Hi
I am a new mac user.
I have a Mac book Pro that I bought this summer.
The other day I was browsing around the downloads section of the Apple site and saw "avast! antivirus Mac Edition 2.74"
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/networking_security/avastantivirusmacediti on.html
So I figured if apple has an antivirus software then it must be a good thing to download, so I gave it a try.
Ran a scan and was surprised to see over 70 errors listed.
And this is where it gets sadly stupid on my part...
Being a life long PC user who is used to AdAware SE finding viruses and then deleting them, I figure this must be no different. So with complete idiotic ignorance as to what I am doing I proceed to manually delete each file and folder it had listed with an error... Thinking that they must simply be bad temp internet files..... I was wrong... They were system required files and folders that the computer obviously needs to even run...
So thanks to my stupidity my mac book will not even turn on now. I click the on button and it is simply the white screen with the apple logo and the swirling dots and it does not change...
I called Apple support and they said to simply insert the "MAC OS X Install disc 1" and reinstall all system files and folders. Sounds easy enough.
Sadly though I have inserted the disc.... Nothing happens.... the front light just simply glows continuously.... And the disc is now stuck in the disc drive and I know no way to take it out...
How screwed am I? and do I need to drive to the nearest Apple store which is an hour away?
I do not have the Apple care plan, the 9 month trial has expired.
I am clueless and am ripping my hair out.
Any help would be beyond appreciated!...
    Thanks.
