Mac OS 10.5.6 update failure

I've tried several times to update from 10.5.5 to 10.5.6 without success. Update is downloaded, but every time, when I start installation computer hangs on "configuring installation".... even I've left it for hours. I've tried repairing permissions and verifying disk. Same result: computer hangs on "configuring installation" and doesn't move on with the installation.
Anyone with any advice, what shall I do?

Rather than relying on the Software Update process try downloading the 10.5.6 update Combo and installing that. It's a standalone instal DMG. It's a large file (668Mb).

I tried to update my G5 duel 2ghz using the 10.4.9 updater. The updater failed during installation and now my machine freezes during the start up process. I started up in single user mode and did a file system check. It failed on the volume check indicating there was an invalid record count. Most of the important files are saved to a central server but there are some important files on the machine that are not backed up.
What can I do to get up and running again without losing any data?

Before installing system upgrades:
Rule No. 1: Make **** sure your system and start up disk are healthy.

I found that Cocktail crashes under OS 10.4.9 so it should only be used prior to updating, not after.

We tried to "Reload BBM" which resulted in loss of contacts and lots of tears, so we "Restored". Since doing this contacts have been restored BUT we now cannot connect to WiFi. Message reads, " This wireless router supports WiFi Protected Set-Up. To connect using a PIN (which your Blackberry will generate), click Next'. We are then asked to enter a PIN into the router - How are we supposed to do that if the router doesn't have a keyboard?

CS3 update failure on Mac OS 10.6.8

Running CS3 on Mac OS 10.6 and updates do not download, specifically for Acrobat 8 Professional v 8.1.5
updates 8.1.3 , 8.1.4 , 8.1.5 , 8.1.6 repeatedly prompted but never able to download

Mac Mini doesn't startup after failure firmware update..

Downloaded firmware update and Mac OS X update through MAC OS X Software Update.
After that my Mini Mac ask me to restart.
And now my display shows "No signal" message and no startup sound. Indicator lights up, can hear Hard Drive sound and DVD disk sound, optical mouse lights up... and nothing else.

Here is the list of all what went wrong and where I am now:
1. My Ipod worked well
2. I wanted to update it, you know, the normal thing with Itunes
3. Every time I tried, my computer froze. I was unable to add only one song (both automatically and manually).
4. I took my external drive (where my music is) at work and tried again: same result.
5. I decided to run the Updater I have on the CD that came with the Ipod.(2005-02-07; I usually avoid the newer version, having had once a problem when putting a newer version of Updater).
6. The Updater was unable to operate any action on my Ipode (I don't remember the messages now).
7. Like I tried what I describe here above like a hundred time. I decided to format the Ipod with Windows (My Computer, right click on the Ipod, format).
8. It did and now I have only the famous folder with an exclamation mark on my Ipod.
9. Now when I am running the Updater, it says it cannot Restore the factory settings giving this message "Firmware update failure. Disk write error".
I would appreciate any help because, during the last 2 hours, I read and tried all I found on the Support Help here on the Apple web side without any result yet.

I´ve got a new Mac and transfered my Apps and preferences with the Migrationmanager, but the CC Update failed several times with the Errorcode 43!
What can i do?

Palm Missing Localization Information Display after Mac OS 10.4.6 Update

Recently I installed the Mac OS 10.4.6 update after confirming that it should improve some minor issues with "Hot Synching".
Previously I could "Hot Synch" with my Palm Mac Desk Top software 4.2.1 and also with my PC with no issues. My Palm is using Palm OS 4.5, I believe.
Now I can still can "Hot Sync" on my Mac--with no issues. However, when I take the Palm out of the USB Cradle and try to access the Palm Display page with the featured icons, I get a very unusual error:
"Application can not be launched because it is missing localization info file xxx--enUS.prc."
I checked the Palm site and entered the error message and the response was returned that indicated "several applications with the Palm Tungsten T require overlay files to run properly. "Dialer, SMS, & WAP Browser" require and overlay "prc" file that determines which language the application displays on the device. If this "prc" file is missing, it will cause this message to be displayed."
I was instructed to install the "xxx_enUS.prc" using the Palm Install tool.
I installed all of the "xxx_enUS.prc" files on Disk 2 and have performed a "Hot Sync" again. A successful "Hot Synch" was performed.
The above message is still displayed on the Palm screen even after that successful "Hot Synch".
I can not use any of the screen icons to select any of the features or vprograms on the Palm.
The face buttons can be depressed but the selection from the Palm hand held icons with the stylus can not be accessed as the "missing localization info, ect" is displayed.
I have performed soft resets to no avail.
I still can not get this issues resolved.
Recently I instlled iSynch and the problems still occur.
Anyone out there have any suggestions.

When I do Command-I, I see that I have read/write access for the local drive - depending on the machine I am sitting at - and the other networkeded drives allow read only.
I guess the question is - how does the system know a user with the same username and password are actually the same person?

I don't use the synch. option. However, my RSS feeds are updating without problem after the update. If I remember correctly, the RSS feed update was affected by synching through .Mac? Is that true?
What method did you use to update your system. As a rule, I use the combo update. If you used the incremental method, I suggest using the combo update. Remember to repair permissions via Disk Utility after the update.

He had recently upgraded from wht we now know is 18.0 to 18.1 which is the latest version. He read the above artic
le and supposed that it was a bug fix release for his version - because the v17 ov18 number is not often displayed. It is usually just 2014 CC.
I have asked him to post a bug report about Adobe Illustrator CC 2014.1

RMMR1MRS report when run in background cause update failure errors .
There are few below reason for the error log.
1. for the PO invoice already generated - (its right if already invoice generated. should not happen again)
2. In MIGO, entire quantity has been reversed and also invoice generated with zero value - ( its right , should not happen invoice again )
3. Particular PO line item deleted - (its right if the PO line item deleted. ERS settlement not require)
For the all above reason, the update error occurs. But the mean time the program "RMMR1MRS" should not through the update error log.
Note: The job was not terminated due to this update error and also no harm because of the error log
can you please help on this update failure why it occurs.

You do not need to use cleaning programs. They can destroy your computer operation as they may already have done.

After un-installing, run this program to make sure you got all the pieces.

Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.appstore.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

i get this when i use the ipod Updater after clicking "restore"... this thing is giving me a headache. Also get the previous mentioned "cannot read from or write to disk" error when using itunes after a couple downloads. i followed the steps in the link to those issues and ran some updates on my PC and still the same.
