Mac OS 10.5.8 help
Hi there,
I have a Mac OS X 10.5.8, 2.66 GHz Intel Core, 2GB 1067 MHz DDR3.
Great desktop for me at home but needs to be upgraded. Can I have advice on what steps/software I need to go to next OS.
Is Ram expensive to increase? I do a fair bit of photoshop work using photos taken in RAW format and lately the system is running increasingly slow - the check of my capacity has told me I have used 242.07GB of my 297.77GB hard drive and I dont know how that happened - all my photos are stored on an external drive. I downloaded mackeeper but it has not helped much.
I do not know of service reps for Apple in Invercargill, New Zealand so Im hoping to learn how to deal with the mac myself - as much as I can without scaring myself

And yes I am an Apple newbie, I love it - esp how after having had this sytem for nearly18 months and never having any problems. But its getting sad and slow and I cant afford a new set up.

Uhhg, you must get rid of MacKeeper, but don't yse theor un-installer, it makes it worse...

The good news is you can have 8 GB of RAM, which I highly recommend for later OSX versions, & it's pretty easy to install...

I added a contact to my iphone 4s and when I did a sync manually it is not showing up on my MAC in address book - please help....I checked off sync all contacts in iTunes - does it only work one way from computer to phone?

I had a similar problem myself. This is what helped me.
I went to the App store app, scrolled to the bottom, logged out of the account, re logged in with my Apple ID. Then went back to app updates. Once I put in my ID password all was fine. -
After I updated lion to 10.7.4, app store does not recognize my ID APPLE and it unable to connect me to app store in order to update/download apps? What have I to do? I have the same problem with mac mini e mac book air. Please help me!
Your advice did not help me. I also installed 10.7.4 combo but the situation is the same.
my internet connection is ok, mail is ok, but app store after 3 resets does not recognize my ID and it says "connection is not possible". Why? I can no longer back up my iphone to my computer on selecting 'sync'. I can back up to iCloud but I get an error message telling me I cannot backup to my Mac. Can any one help? It's driving me crazy!

your MacBook Pro has booted into its Recovery mode. From the OS X Utilities menu, select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Does it get to the login screen now? -

You are unfortunately out of luck with an Intel Mac and OS X 10.4.11.<br />
There is a compatible version from for a PowerPC Mac, but no alternative for an Intel Mac. -
My iPhone 4S on iOS7 is stuck on Apple Logo, and it goes off, then back to Apple Logo again for hours. Pressing home button together with sleep button does not help. Plugging the phone to Mac and restart does not help either. What do I do?

I'm the proud owner of 1200 Classical CDs which I ripped and loaded in my iTunes library, together with a couple dozen videos downloaded fro youtube. I have the problem that the rocovery system can not be created during the lion install.
When I try to partioning with diskultity, my disc says: Partitioning failed with error:
The size of the partition can not be changed. Try to reduce the size of the change of the partition.

Try these steps:
Make a full backup of your hard disk and all of its data (including your Boot Camp partition, which is not normally backed up by Time Machine), then erase your hard disk and create a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) partition.
Reinstall Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard, then re-download the OS X Lion installer from the Mac App Store and retry your install.
If you use Boot Camp, you can run Boot Camp Assistant after installing OS X Lion to create a new Boot Camp partition, then restore the data from the backup you made of your previous Boot Camp partition.
You can also use the OS X Lion installer from the Mac App Store to create an external bootable drive, complete with a Recovery HD partition. See this article for more details. This approach will, at least, create a bootable drive with Recovery HD which you can carry with you in case you need to use Internet Restore or make use of the other utilities Recovery HD provides. -

CS5.5 - Internet Connection Required to Start?
Hello, One of our users purchased Premiere Pro CS5.5 and our IT department has to support it. It starts up fine with an active internet connection. Without an internet connection Premiere Pro automatically closes after the splash screen. This user w
