Mac OS 10.8.6 contacts to Z10 Via USB and BlackBerry Link

Have an iMac with 10.7.  Appointments with my Z10 are currently synced via a USB cable with Apple iCal Using a USB cable.  Want to upgrade to a newer version of Mac OS 10.8.  Mac OS 10.8 no longer has iCal but Calendar instead.  Does BlackBerry Link work with Calendar the same way it does with iCal and sync with the Z10.  In BlackBerry Link, there is a specific option to work with iCal, not sure if this was to make it work with iCal and that it will work Calendar as well.  Maintaining sync with calendars is most important to me right now and the OS upgrade would let me use another application that I trying out...  Again maintaining calendar sync is a must.
Confirmation that BlackBerry Link syncs to the Z10 from Calendar via a USB connection would be appreciated.  Downgrading an OS not pleasant.

I have a Mac Air and use  Calender.
I have my Gmail calender synced(?)/conected to my Calender (click on "Calenders" in the top right of the screen and add it.
I have my Blackberry calender linked to the same gmail account and they sync as well. It seems to work.
I am however unable to sync the contacts on my apple to my blackberry. But I can sync from my blackberry to my computer..............
Any answers?

When I connect my Mac Mini 2011 with Lion to a TV via HDMI and an earphone cable is plugged in, it´s not possible to choose sound out via hdmi, as opposed to connection via the minidisplay port. Anybody knows how to fix this?

Was just on the phone with Apple about this.
The solution was as follows for me anyway...
    Go to your Finder
    Choose the Go Menu
    Choose Computer
    Choose your Macintosh Hard Drive
    Choose your "Library" Folder
    Choose the "Preferences" Folder
There should be a folder called "Audio"
Move that whole folder to the trash
    Empty the Trash
    Restart from the Apple Menu
    When you are back up and running;
Choose System Preferences from the Apple Menu
         Choose Sound
In the output tab you should now be able to make the HDMI "Sticky"
Enjoy your sound over HDMI and no more dirty knees or broken backs unplugging the desktop speakers!

My HP 2355 won't show up in AirPrint? I have it plugged in via USB and set it up on my Mac mini with the airport express network. Any advice?

Unless your HP printer is an AirPrint-ready device, just connecting it to the USB port of the AirPort Express base station will not make it so.
On the other hand, connecting a non-AirPrint printer to the base station's USB port it can be shared out by the base station's print server. Please see the following Apple Support article for details.

  • IPhone 5 contacts local sync via usb doesn't work - updated

    Syncing an iPhone 5, AT&T 64GB, with Macbook Air 11" mid-2011, 1.8GHz / 4GB.
    OS X 10.10.2; iTunes 12.1.0.50; iOS 8.1.3.
I am trying to sync my contacts from my OS X Contacts App to my iPhone 5 via USB. The contacts do not sync. The contacts are local, "on my mac". I am using a usb cable through iTunes.
The iPhone 5 was just restored by Apple Configurator, set up as new iPhone, and is supervised by the MacBook Air.
I am also synchronizing my local Calendars from the OS X Calendar app; these transfer just fine. This makes me think it is probably not to do with the entire setup of the iPhone, i.e. that it is managed by apple configurator, since some of the sync works correctly.
Under "info" in the iTunes sync dialog, I have selected the "sync contacts" and "all contacts" and "sync calendars" and "all calendars" options.
Interestingly, while the Calendars sync options displays options of "selected calendars" and a list of my calendars available to sync, the Contacts section "selected groups" is grayed out. I have one group in Contacts, and it does not show up by name for "selected groups". Instead, the area where groups should be listed for selection is empty. Perhaps iTunes does not have access to my local contacts? It is not listed under apps with access to my contacts under security and privacy, and it has not requested access to my contacts.
I created a fake contact on the phone and synced it with iTunes. I then turned off contact syncing in iTunes and told it to remove previously synced contacts. The fake contact disappeared. When I turned contact syncing on again, the contact was again pushed to the phone. However, the fake contact did not appear at any point in the OS X Contacts App, and none of my OS X Contacts appeared on my phone -- only the fake contact I had created on my phone and then synced with iTunes.
I also created a (different) fake contact in OS X Contacts. iTunes sync did not transfer this contact (or any others) from OS X Contacts to iPhone.
    SUMMARY:
    - syncing iPhone 5 via USB with iTunes
    - Calendar sync works
    - Contacts sync doesn't work
    - iTunes appears to have no communication with the OS X Contacts app; in system prefs > security and privacy > privacy > contacts, Pages and Word have access to Contacts, but iTunes is not listed. iTunes Contacts sync "selected groups" does not display my OS X Contacts group names.
    - Contacts created on iPhone sync back to iTunes and are restored back to the iPhone if deleted and resynced.
    - Contacts created on iPhone do not sync back to OS X Contacts; Contacts in OS X Contacts do not sync to iPhone.
(apologies for premature posting to "Using iPhone"; I accidentally submitted and now can't delete or edit).

Here's the resolution: I went to my local Apple store and spoke to the guy. After some discussion it turned out that one of the staff had had a similar problem. He suggested this course and I can report that it seems to work. So, (1) open your system preferences and then the print & fax setting and delete the printer in question (2) disconnect the USB between the printer and the TimeCapsule (3) shut everything down and turn off power to your modem, your TimeCapsule and your whole system (4) power on each item in its normal sequence (5) wait for your iMac to complete its boot-up, (6) re-connect the USB between the printer and the TimeCapsule (7) open system preferences and search for and install the relevant printer (8) try printing.
This is hardly elegant, but it worked. I am told (by the same Apple store) that hitting the "reset" button in the TimeCapsule might also work. If this is intuitive or obvious to anyone else then my compliments to them ...
    Cheers

  • HT1338 My Mac Mini stopped recognising Iomega external hard drive via USB 2.0 connection. Any suggestion to get way around? Thanks.

  • Mac doesn't recognise my hp officejet 6500A via usb?

For some reason whenever I connect my HP officejet 6500A to my MacBook Air via USB, it doesn't seem to recognize it?
A few things I've tried included going to System Preferences-->Printers-->Clicking Add Printer -->IP and entering the printer's host name (since the IP address says not available). The irritating thing is that beforehand, the printer was being recognized by the MacAir but was "offline", so I deleted it in an attempt to add it again but to no avail. Does anyone know how to correct this??
Another thing is that the printer says not connected to a network and I don't know how to make it connect to a network.

You may have to see about getting later drivers from the manufacturer
web site for use in the printer, and unless you need to use it otherwise,
the USB should not require any IP or MAC settings for it to work.
Is the printer capable of wireless printing?
Just curious, since that'd be a handy option.
Has this printer ever worked with your MB/Air?
The problem may be the setting for network could rely on Ethernet cable
(if not wireless capable)  then the IP or MAC address would make sense.
I've never set up an Ethernet printer; that would be part of a network,
if set up wrong, it still may appear as an error or failed network item.
Are there Mac instructions with the printer? Usually they have quick-setup
instructions and a larger document or booklet of other featured instructions.
Usually Officejet printers work rather well with Mac OS X.
And aren't that difficult to set them up...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Transfer Iphone contacts to Z10. Nice and easy.

This can be done through Gmail sync of course but for those of you who are not so tech savy or if you are just lazy we went to Koodo in the Eaton Center in Toronto and they have some type of gadget that is a piece of hardware.  My Iphone plugged in one side, the Z10 in the other side and she transferred all 6000+ contacts.  Simple and easy.
I am pretty sure you will need to turn on Development Mode for it to work properly and set a password.  That is what we did and it transferred nice and easy.

You can't transfer your contacts from the iPhone to the SIM.

@diesel vdub - I'm not sure where you read into my post that I expected an app would be digital handset theft prevention system, but, if you've used the app to locate a lost device, you'll notice that you can put a message on the screen, make the device play a very annoying sound and wipe the device. At what point would you assume that the app wasn't intended as a theft deterrent from it's capabilities? Please do go through the motions of using an app before discussing it's features and relevant merits based on your perusal of the marcoms. As someone closer to the trough when the device was first launched, I do have a very good idea of what the internal apps are intended for.
For the rest of the gentle souls who offered advice, thank you for your compassionate, sympathetic advice.
The first things I did in order were, reported the theft to the NSW (my state in Australia)Police, reported the IMEI number as belonging to a stolen device with my service providor and made certain they moved it onto the list of stolen iPhones.
My initial post was to express dismay with the apps shortcomings and to make those operating on my earlier foundation of faith aware, that reliance on the app is, in my expereince, a fruitless exercise.

  • New mac + new hp printer won't sync up w/usb...yet old printer connects

about 2 months ago i got a new imac and a new hp printer and when i hooked it up with my usb from my old hp printer it wouldn't connect (the mac wasn't reading that anything was connected) so i called hp and they tried to do what they could, but came to the conclusion that there was something wrong with that printer, so i brought it back and they gave me a new one. same problem. i connect it via usb and nothing all the while my old printer works perfectly. any thoughts?

when i hooked it up with my usb from my old hp printer
Not sure what you mean: You didn't connect it directly to a USB port, you daisy chained it to the old printer? Or you mean you used the cable from the old printer?
I assume since you contacted HP, that you have the proper Driver/Software installed and they probably walked you through uninstalling/reinstalling. BTW, from my experience, HP printer tech support isn't all that wonderful and I wouldn't necessarily trust that they gave you the best advice.
What comes to mind is there was an HP printer update for Snow Leopard in Software Update, at least for my inkjet, which I'd been neglecting for ages. But when I finally installed it, it cleared up a number of issues. But, before updating, I was at least able to print and the printer was seen. Anyway, have a look in Software Update. I looked around the HP site for a standalone update and couldn't find anything.
If you give me the model I can probably find the most current software for it on the HP site.

  • Blackberry Link - not recognizing device and does not allow synching calendar and contacts

I cannot get Blackberry Link to work properly on my laptop running Windows 8.1 Pro.  It takes a very long time to open and it does not allow me to sign in saying there is no internet connection and I cannot get around resolving this issue.  That is problem 1.  Problem 2, Blackberry Link sometimes recognizes the device and sometimes it does not.  Problem 3, when I do get Link to recognize the device, (it can backup), synching the calender and contacts on the device to Outlook does not work.  I try to do a one way synch from the device to outlook and it processes but Outlook is not updated (outlook has no contacts or calendar events as I want to pull them off my device).
    Any ideas?  Thanks.

  • Completely Uninstall BlackBerry Link from Mac

How do you completely uninstall BlackBerry Link from Mac?

    Hey wmatt,
    Thanks for the post.
Open the BlackBerry Link setup file and choose Uninstall BlackBerry Link.  Then do a quick search for anything "BlackBerry" and drag it to your trash and empty the trash and restart the Mac.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • Sync Contacts/Calender via USB

    Hi,
where ist the possibility of contacts/calender sync via USB?
It is a cheekiness to delete this important function without giving the user the possibility to decide itself.
I won't use any Clouds for my personal data.
Please bring it back, otherwise I change to another system.

    Couldn't agree more !!!

  • BB10 Won't Sync via USB with iCal and Contact in Mac OS 10.8

I was able to transfer all of my data from my Torch to my new Z10 using Blackberry Link, but not it will not let me sync my contacts and iCal via USB cable.  They "sync to device" tab is greyed out on the menu bar.
In addtion, in spite of the fact that I've done several back-ups of my phone in Blackberry Link, when I plug my phone into my Mac, it indicates that it has never been backed up.
    Suggestions?

I have the same issue and from what I've been able to find online, it appears that Blackberry Link does not allow you to sync contacts, calendar and reminders.  Check out this link.  https://www.blackberry.com/lms/item/0aa163b0-72e4-7055-f632-baf90ad15bca
If this is actually the case this is a major blunder.  Everything else about the phone I absolutely LOVE!

  • I'm too old to learn iCal.  How do I tell iTunes to synch with Outlook for Mac for all of the Contacts and the Calendar on my iPhone and iPad??  Thanks

I'm too old to learn iCal.  How do I tell iTunes to synch with Outlook for Mac for all of the Contacts and the Calendar on my iPhone and iPad??
Also, once I figure out how to replace iCal with Outlook/Mac on iTunes, how do I synch the phone and pad so that the information on those devices over-writes onto Outlook as a backup, rather than having a blank Calendar on Outlook wipe out all of the information on the phone and pad???
    Thanks

If you haven't tried already, plug your devices into iTunes, and on each device next to the "Summary" tab at the top is another tab called "Info." Click that and scroll down to Contacts, Calendars, etc. There should be a pull down bar under each category for "Sync contacts from..." and you should be able to select from that pull down list Outlook.  Hit Apply at the bottom and see if that does it.
