Mac os 9 connecting to mac os 10.3
I am trying to network a Mac with os 9.2.2 to a Mac with os 10.3. The problem I am having is that everytime I try to connect there is a pop up with a message "The connection to this server has been unexpectedly broken". I dont know why this is. Should there be any issues with doing this ? Has anyone overcome this problem ? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
First our sitution is a little different than what is described. We have one machine OS 9.2 with two ethernet cards. One is an add on which is configured via tcp ip and connects us to the internet on the company network.
the other card is the internal, which as far as i can tell is configured via appletalk. We cant get tcp ip configured on the internal card.
So looking at the instructions
1. connect via cross over - we are using a small linksys hub and it is done that way - this shouldnt be a problem /
2. Apple talk seems to be configured no the internal card.
3. the control panel allows the configuration of only one card. We cannot seem to configure the two cards seperately on the tcp control panel. If we change the settings to the internal and configure via apple talk then we loose the connection to the internet. This seems to be because we are referring to the add on card that gets us to the internet via a seperate network.

we can the OS 9 machine from the OS 10 machine with no problem. We cannot see the OS 10 machine from the OS 9 machine.
What we are trying to accomplish;
Use the OS 9 machine running Quark to print documents to a HP Printer connected to the OS 10 machine, which has EFI designer RIP software.

I have a Macbook pro 13.3 w/ i5 that has no hdmi port. I want to be able to connect the Mac to my TV set to watch Video, Photos and files from Mac to TV.
Is the Thunderbolt port similar to a display port or mini display port? Can I use thunderbolt port to connect thru a mini displayport to HDMI cable or converter?
Been trying to locate a USB to HDMI cable or converter (at a reasonable price) but all I found is a displayport or mini displayport to HDMI cable/converter.

I know this sounds like a weird question, but I need to connect my Mac laptop running 10.5.2 to my Polycom phone. I know there are many options like Skype, etc... but I need to use my own softphone which goes to a company dialer. For example I use ohphonex. This allows me to dial any number and point it to an IP gateway to receive my call. I can use this with the internal mic and speaker, or attach my mic to it, but quality is still not great. The polycom phone I have is an excellent phone and when I am talking to other business executives with strong accents - I need have really **** good quality.
So what I want to do is to be able to dial out of my laptop, and have the voice and the mic be used with the phone. I would like to connect the phone to the laptop so if I want to dial a phone number from the phone it will dial the program I choose (or another softphone that can let me me choose the IP gateway), and I want to be able to use the Polycom Clarity Soundpoint phone.

Mavric doesn't support my 5 years old Big Screen Display, OR? Tried to connect my Mac Book Pro after installing Mavric, The Screen didn't work as before. I could only see the Desktop but not the movies for example.
<E-mail Edited by Host>It appears what happened is the installer though it was looking at a empty drive and just went ahead and installed.
I of course am assuming here you didn't use Disk Utility to format the drive first before installing, that would wipe out your files and programs for sure.
So what to do, what to do.
Well there is hope for you as long as the drive wasn't Filevaulted.
I'll explain. When a hard drive writes data for the first time to a drive, it starts at the very top and works it's way down.
When OS X was installed the first time, it was at the top of the drive, unless you upgraded then the upgraded OS X could have been written elsewhere.
Now when you just reinstalled OS X, the new OS went on the top of the drive, overwriting any data that was there previously, so what was there you have lost forever which is about 8GB or so. If it was the previous OS there, then your more in luck because only the old OS X was overwritten.
The remaining space on the drive still can have a copy of your files, provided it's not overwritten yet.
It's because when a hard drive deletes data or reformats, it doesn't remove the data off the drive or overwrites it immediately, it's just made so it's SPACE is available for new files to be written there.
So technically one can recover the deleted data off a non-encrypted/scrubbed hard drive with special software.
The way it does this is it reads the 1's and 0's of the files themselves, and through a lot of figuring out, can tell what that file is and what it belongs too.
So what you will have to do is this:
Create a data recovery/undelete external boot drive
or if you don't have the skills, then take it to a local PC/Mac tech and they can do a direct image of the drive and then you can run Data Rescue on it to rebuild your files. -

I suggest buying a second drive and setting it up for a back up, Time Machine or Carbon Copy Cloner, or SuperDuper (both "bootable" back up) All searchable on the web.
