Mac os canon scanner not detected in Acrobat

MACBOOK PRO retina mid 2014 running OS10.10.2 Yosemite
ACROBAT Xi PRO
CANON MG5200 printer/scanner
When I connected the Canon printer scanner to my new macbook pro Acrobat does not show the printer scanner in the import from scanner menu option.
I had this problem previously with Acrobat's really irritating messing around with scanners but cannot remember how I solved it.
Does anybody have some sensible advice please?
PS ADOBE, why on earth don't you sort this out, your users have FREQUENT need for quick and easy scanning.

Firstly, I would recommend you to please check for Acrobat updates to run the latest patch i.e. 11.0.10
An out-of-date version of scanner might result in scanning issues. So, please reinstall the latest scanner driver for your particular scanner model from the manufacturer's website and then try again.
If it still does not work, then please try logging in to new administrator account, open Acrobat and check.

Epson Perfection 48970 Scanner worked perfectly with iMac using MAC OS 10.6.8 and Photoshop CS. But that iMac was traded in for a new iMac, and now using MAC OS 10.8.5. PS CS is now inoperative for the upgraded operating system. Now working with Macbook Pro, MAC OS 10.6.8, and scanner works perfectly with the laptop, but NOT with Photoshop CS. The Epson doesn't show in the import mode, but the HP Officejet Pro 8500 does, which is a poor scanner at best. I have looked for the answer to this problem, but unable to solve the problem. I don't want to buy an upgrade version of Photoshop CS; I just want to covert some 35mm slides to paper photos, etc.

It sounds like you may use a POP account for your email. With a POP account, email applications like Mail and Outlook can remove emails from the server, so when another device tries to check the server for new emails, it doesn't see any.
You may need to adjust settings in Outlook so that the emails are not removed from the server when downloaded. I found an article with more information:
When using a POP email account with multiple devices, email messages may only appear on the first device that receives them. This occurs when an email client is configured to automatically remove email from the server once an email client has received it. You can configure your email client (or clients) either to keep a copy of the email on the server, remove it after a certain number of days have passed, or keep it until you move it from your Inbox.

Scanner not detected

Printer is downloaded...printer works, fax works, copy works, however scanner not detected??? Installed- Reinstalled, downloaded program, started-restarted several times still not detected???? Window 8

Scanner not detected in PSE 12 organizer

I used PSE11 before and i use a scanner (canon 4200F) to import some old pictures and other documents. Now i have installed PSE12, but i was surprised that my scanner is not detected, so i cannot import anymore with my scanner. How can i fix this problem?

Wow, that really surprised me when you said that, because it always used to. So I had a look at my Word 2010 (where I have the free 'Classic Menu' add-in installed). Under Classic Menu it is still there under Menus> Insert> Illustrations> From Scanner or Camera. But nowhere could I see it under the standard Word Menu's or Ribbon bar.
It is still in there though. I found it in the ribbon customization options choosing commands from 'All Tabs'. Accessible then from Menus> Toolbars> Insert> From Scanner or Camera. Phew!!!
Anyway, glad to hear XNView worked for you, but still surprised that PSE12 doesn't see the scanner as either WIA or TWAIN (as you said you had followed the linked instructions in 99jon reply #1). I can only assume that Adobe changed the way they identify scanners for v12.

Ubuntu on a Mac Pro; cd-drive not detected

I have a Mac Pro (2009) and I want to install Ubuntu (Hardy 8.04.2) as the ONLY OS on the machine.
However, installation fails, since the cd-drive is not detected. That's rather strange since booting for the cd works but afterwards the drive is not detected.
Did anyone out there stumble over the same problem?

MAC pro 2013 model not detecting E122 USB Modem

Hi,
For some reason, the light of USB modem doesnt glow, and neither is it detected. But when the Mac is restarted, the USB Modem does lit, and shows signs of being detected. Tried downloading Mobile Partner, but since the Modem is not detected, nothing proceeds. It worked well on my Windows PC.

Contact the vendors technical support unit. Because it may work on a PC, it does not follow that it will work on a Mac.

Canon MP600 not detected

My printer was working, but one day, it went offline and stayed offline. I tried to reset my printing system, but then OSX wouldn't detect the printer at all. The System Report doesn't show the printer either, even though it is connected. The printer works fine on other computers. I've done numerous installs and uninstalls of the software, but no luck. Any advice?

Canon has not released a printer driver for the MP600 since 10.7. But the lack of a printer driver should not stop the printer from appearing under one of the USB busses in System Information. This would normally suggest a problem with the USB cable or the printer itself, but with it working fine on another computer then that tends to rule out both as a cause.
The oldest model of MP I have access to is an MP630 and this appears under the USB bus of an iMac 11,2. Are you connecting to one of the USB ports on the back of the iMac?

Mac Pro early 2008 not detecting 8800 gt

Hi,
I've just upgraded my Mac Pro early to geforce 8800 gt and I have a serious problem. I installed the card and after I turn the machine on the screen stays black. But... OSX system boots up. Plus the fan is at maximum speed all the time.
The funny thing is that when I boot up to Windows everything is great! The fan stops after a few seconds and 8800 works just fine. Only on OSX it stays black. To further test my card I've installed it as a second card and connected my monitor to my previous card. Windows recognizes both cards and I can switch my monitor cable back and forth between them... But... OSX doesn't even recognize the card - it just says "Display" on PCI 1 plus some blank information - just like it recognized that it is a video card but no idea which one.
I'm running 10.6.6 and I really don't have any idea what can be wrong... Please help.

Is the 8800 a Mac edition?
If not, that's why it only works in Windows.
If not a Mac edition, you'll need to flash it to work in OS X.

Can anyone help me? I have Snow Leopard Mac OS 10.6.8, and I am trying to install my multifunction Canon printer. It detects and prints fine, but it won't detect my scanner or fax. I have no hard line for the fax - I use CableVision's wireless router for phone and internet. Is there a way for me to use either function (scanner or fax) with my Mac?
I have an older Canon stand-alone scanner, Canoscan N1240U, and it won't detect that either...

That is correct. The fax is designed for analog connections so there would be need to be a physical connection from the RJ11 connector on the fax to the public phone network or to the A/D converter to use your digital line.
I have "Bluetooth DUN" as my current default fax machine. How do I use it? Can it be used instead of the fax part of the Canon, and then I could probably scan a PDF into my MAC and let Bluetooth DUN fax it out?
The Bluetooth DUN (short for dial up networking) is a way in which you can use your mobile phone to send faxes from your Mac. Not really ideal if you want to send faxes often.
With your setup a better option would be to use a Fax service provider. You basically email the documents you need to be faxed to the Fax company along with the destination fax numbers.

Canon scanner not recognised after Mac wakes up.

I have been using a Canon LIDE 60 scanner since I bought my eMac 4 or so years ago. It's always worked fine.
But since upgrading to Leopard a few months ago I've been having trouble with it.
What happens is that after the Mac goes into deep sleep mode (it's set to have the hard drive sleep too) and the scanner is not recognised after the computer wakes up.
I get an error message when I open up a TWAIN program (CanoScan Toolbox or Image Capture) saying that there is no scanner available.
Sometimes, usually actually, if I disconnect the USB cable and then re-attach it the scanner becomes available again. But sometimes not.
I have what I believe to be the most recent driver for this scanner, dl'd recently from Canon's web site. First I uninstalled the old driver and then restaterd my eMac before installing the new driver.
I'm using whatever version of Image Capture came with Mac OS and I'm using CanoScan Toolbox version 4.9.3.4 (version 5.0 does not work at all).
Any way to get this to stop happening?

Canon scanner not communicating with mac min using OS 10.5.8

I am using a mac mini with OS 10.5.8. I am trying to scan in papers with a Canon Canoscan N1240U. This is the message I am receiving.
     Cannot communicate with canner.
     Cable may be disconnected.
     Check status.
     Scanner driver will be closed.
I have used this scanner before with this mac mini. Any suggestions why this is happening and to correct the issue.

I think you should, if you can, try the scanner on a different computer to rule out a problem with the scanner or it's usb cable. Then, if you have the software install disk for the scanner run it. Or download and install a new driver or software. Use the finder to find and delete any files for the scanner and then reinstall them. set the scanner up in systempreferences as if it's a newly installed item.

TS3147 installed Canon MF4570dw multifunction printer, it prints and copies but scanner not detected. How do you install scanning function?

First of all you need to set the MF scan components online. Press the Scan button and then select Remote.
Then on the Mac, open the MF Toolbox software, which will have been installed when you downloaded and installed the ScanGear v1.51 software, and select one of the buttons like Save. From the next window that appears, change the Original Placement menu to ADF or Platen - depending on where you have loaded the paper - and then press the Scan button. This action should scan the document to your Mac.

Duplex Scanning from Canon MX7600 Not Recognized in Acrobat 9 Pro

I am trying to duplex scan in PDF docs with a new Canon MX7600 scanner. The utility that comes with the printer has a complete duplex scan utility which includes PDF docs, but limits the names to around 28 characters which is not enough for our naming conventions. Also, I cannot scan directly to Secure PDF's. Nor can I set it to automatically ask for Meta Tags.
The Acrobat Create PDF Scan only recognizes or offers the standard set which does not include duplex scanning. Canon tells me that the naming length limitation is built into the software design. They suggested that I contact Adobe and so I am.
How do I get Acrobat 9 Pro to duplex scan directly into Acrobat?

They sometimes monitor, particularly in the last month or so. However, most of the answers here come from users. In many cases you might find the answers from users to be more useful than from tech support, unless it is an off the wall problem no one has run into or tried. Typically when you scan from Acrobat, there is a settings selection on the window where you select to scan. That may be where you can find what you want. As far as I know, the information in the settings is only what is made available to Acrobat through the product twain driver.
The other suggestion to try to scan into another product, such as a graphics package, might help you get a better feel of what is possible. You might also check the manual if you have not done that already.

Canon scanner not working with MacBook Pro.

I wonder if anyone is able to help. I recently bought a Canon MG5550 Printer/Scanner and I am having trouble with scanning. When I press the scan button on the printer nothing happens, not evening a warning message. I have tried using a cable and this hasn't improved the sitation. When I go onto Preview, I can select "Import from Canon MG5550 Series" under "File" but I get a message saying that the software for this device hasn't been downloaded, even though it has. I notice that on this page the MG5550 isn't recognised, and I wonder id this could explain the sitation http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US#canon-inkjet. Anyone know any way around this?
