Mac os lion changes desktop order automatically

Hello,
The problem I have is rather insignificant, and yet really annoying. I'm going to give you the example of what I am actually doing. I've got two office word 2011 windows on full screen (ctrl+cmd f) and I've got chrome on full screen also. And I switch between these three windows several times. Every now and then the chrome window gets between the two Word windows and I don't actually know what I am doing to make that happen or if it's a bug or whatever. I expect the windows to stick to the order that I impose and not reorder themselves randomly. Does anyone know what's going on?

Thank you for your reply, captfred, this must have been it. This is what I was looking for. I am certain that I won't encounter this problem again, which was really annoying, as unimportant as it might have sounded.

Change desktop picture automatically doesn't work

I am trying to use the System Preferences Destop Picture "Change Picture automatically" every day feature. I want it to select a picture automatically at random every day from the folder I set. This does not seem to work. If I set it to "every day", it seems to just always pick the same photo--it never changes it. I tried yesterday setting it to "every login", since I login every day, and now no photos show up.
The Console has a whole bunch of the message :

Could that be part of the problem? Anyone else have trouble with this feature?
I am using two screens, and trying to set the picture on each from a different folder. Maybe that is the problem?

I have two monitors and it works fine. It is possible that there is something wrong with the preference files, so the system is unable to correctly read them. Try removing these two files:
"/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist"
"/Users/yourname/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist"
Then redo your settings, log out and back in and see if it works. If it does you can toss the old plists. You'll probably have to redo some other settings in System Preferences to put them the way you prefer.

Changing desktop "order"

erry Christmas!!!!
I use 2 monitors - is it possible to have icons/folders/files on the desktop go from left to right? instead of starting on the right of the left monitor and then continuing on the right of the right monitor?
I've looked in preferences but don't see anything that addresses this
and putting the dock on the top of the right monitor would be handy for my particular 'work-flow-

Preview pick shortcut changes desktop

HI,
When I am using Audition in FCP X and previewing my clips using Control Option Y, I try to use Control left and right arrow to select different Picks while Previewing. However, instead of Previewing my Mac (Mountain Lion), changes desktops.
Does anyone have a solution.

That's fixed it. For some reason the Keyboard Shortcut is Control left or right arrow. But if you forget control and just use the arrow key it works. Wierd!

No such option for moving song within playlist, only the up and down arrow which moves song from top to bottom list, so if it is #4 from top it will move to #4 from bottom. Stupid I know. I spent over an hour with Apple support, reinstalled itunes, restarted and rebooted computer. Networked with my laptop which is running 10.6.8 and itunes 10.4 and it can drag and drop. The final Apple support solution was to reinstall my operating system. I would prefer not to. Any other ideas?

After looking at other people's posts, I think it's official: there is a bug. Itunes support said I should not have lost the drag/drop tool and I haven't on the laptop that is running itunes 10.4 and operating system 10.6.8. I chatted with someboby who lost both his drag/drop and side scroll and what we have in common is a wacom tablet for a mouse. My laptop is a wireless mouse. I reinstalled whatever updated driver that wacom has out there, shut the system down for night, hoping for magic, but alas none to be had. So if I want to change song order, I network the laptop and desktop, share the screen on the laptop, drag and drop to my heart's content and curse Apple for making me work this hard to find the tool that was once at my fingertips. Apple also let me know that if I want to share songs in household that the hundreds on songs that were purchased for .99 need to be repurchased for another .30. Maybe Apple is holding my drag/drop tool captive til I pay up the money or Maybe the next update will fix the problem, I for one give up for now.

Desktop order changes when closing any app

Hello to all.
When i use multiple desktops and i closing any app (from top menu or from dock) the order of desktops is changing, usually desktop on that i close the app is swapped with near desktop. For example, i have four desktops 1 2 3 4, when i close an app on desktop 3 desktop order became 1 3 2 4. This happens only when i close an app from unactive desktop, for example, if i now on desktop 1 and closing app from desktop 3 while still remaining on desktop 1.
Maybe someone tell me how can I fix?

It's a normal feature. When the Mac is connected to the projector, change the desktop picture first. The settings should be remembered that way.

I am sorry I should have said Image Capture not Previews. The files end up as duplicates on my desktop or in Pictures. I was told by someone that the same thing happens in iPhoto as well as not being able to select which photos to save and that using Image Capture should be better.
My iPhoto is version 8.1.2 and Image Capture is 6.0.1.

Don't let other people access your Mac in admin mode - they might change something a lot more important than the Desktop picture.
However you can use Automator: create an Application in it, and select 'Set the Desktop Picture' from the Library. Choose the picture you want. Save the application, then go to System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items and select the Automator application you just created. This will then run at startup and set your chosen picture.

You are attempting to download the picture to your computer not uploading photo to the website if I am understanding you correctly.
To change the download direction, you must do so through your browser's Preferences. If you are using Safari, hopefully, someone who uses Safari will help you and/or post over in their forums. I do not use Safari.

The scenario is that Order Confirmation vednors sends contains delivery date or delivery qunatity variance within defined tolerances. In such cases it is acceptable to allow automatic PO change.
This is an EDI scenario. Idocs ORDRSP and ORDCHG in use.

Right now my macbook pro requires an admin password before connecting to a new wifi network. In other words when a user that is not an admin tries to connect to a new wifi network the pop up displays indicating that it is locked and an admin password is required.
Is there a way to remove this restriction so that a non admin can connect to wifi without the mac's admin password.

You can enable / disable this option in System Preferences:
System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab > Require administrator authorization to: Change networks

Quickbooks does not support Parallels anymore. I hear Apple Bootcamp is an opton. Are there any recommendations for running Quickbooks Pro 2010 on Mac?

QuickBooks Pro 2010 for Mac is not supported in Lion. QB Pro 2011 will work, but I just got an email today that 2011 will not be updated to work in Mountain Lion. QB Pro 2012 will be updated for ML.
Be aware that the Mac version of QuickBooks is shamefully lacking in features compared to the Windows version. I do use the Mac version, but it has more features than I need for a small business, so it doesn't affect me. No one knows why Intuit seems to hate Mac users, but they show it every day.
If QB Pro 2012 for Mac can be downloaded as a demo, I would strongly suggest testing with it before making a final decision. You will be able to import the Windows data, but possibly not all of it, depending on the Windows version features you use.
Boot Camp allows you to install Windows on its own, bootable partition. When you boot to it, you are of course running Windows in every sense of the word. Just on Mac hardware rather than typical PC gear. Your Windows version of QB will work there without issue. The problem is having to boot back and forth between Windows and OS X, depending on what software it is you need to use at the time.

Desktop order changing

I have a number of desktops defined in Mavericks. Unlike ML, the desktop order seems to change whenever returning from sleep. I suspect this is a Mavericks bug but wonder if anyone else has seen this and/or anyone has a fix.
