    Help, I hate explorer.

If this were a project that I was involved in, I would recapture the media at the correct frame rate and rebuild the sequences correctly.

Hi, I created a new user on mac, Admin but I can't use adobe CS6 while the original user is admin too and all programs are running normal. How can I solve this problem?

    Hi Amanda,
Software applications are usually installed in the Applications folder on the Macintosh HD and are accessible to all users.
I would advise you to check the Applications folder and see if your software is in there.
Next step would be to Control Click or Right Click on the application and choose "Get Info" and make sure the permissions are set to "Read & Write" for all users. The article below provides more details:

You may need to contact Adobe Support if this does not resolve your issue:

    Hope this information helps!

  • Read mail using java, and set the mail

How can I read mail and set message "SEEN" with java? (javax.mail)
IMAP supports flags; so there are no problems, just using
    msg.setFlag(Flags.Flag.SEEN, true);
    but,
POP3 does not support flags; how can I solve this in POP3? I have searched for this problem, found that I can just check for the header "Status", but this header does not exsist. Then I tried to add this header, but again, then I got IllegalWriteException cause pop3-msg is writeprotected (yes: I opened the folder READ_WRITE); so; does anyone know how I can solve this problem?

    Hi !
Could u plz send me the code u r having for reading mails using IMAP...actually v r trying to read mails from outlook but due to some security reasons our team has decided not to use pop3 ...
    Thanks in Advance

  • Receiving Mail using a .mac email account.

My .mac mailbox can no longer receive mail, it is received by the icloud box. In Icloud I have the imac, icloud and me accounts with the mac address greyed out, Since .me is no longer  how do I remove this address. In the apple Mail account box, my mac box has a tilde mark. When trying to get my mail, I constantly get a window popping up that ask for my password to use my .mac address box. what is going on? Am I the only one with this problem? am I going to have to change my address from .mac to .icloud?
    oldgranddad

    Michael,
I think, but have not confirmed, that you would only see this Edit Email Aliases button when the Account Type is .mac in the preferences, and thus only if using Mail 2.0.
I have not reconstructed when Mail 2.0 recognized my one .mac alias. Formerly, in Mail 1.3, I "piggybacked" the alias on one of my POP accounts, to allow sending.
More info, please, including your reasons for setting the account up as IMAP versus .mac -- this was once recommended as a way to send from alias addresses as well, but no longer needed for that purpose.

  • Using terminal if permissions are refused

... this'll sound like a question 'how can I hack ?', but bear with me..
My iBook was stolen out of my hand - literally - in the street last August. I don't have the means to buy a new one, so I use the iMacs in the University where I'm a student. The admin here is an a**hole. I saw him struggling one day with Terminal, and offered advice (I administer Solaris). He didn't take kindly to it. Since then, he's changed the permissions on all of the iMacs to stop me using Terminal. I used it for ssh and vim, that's all.
His colleague (who is on vacation) changed the permissions back, but as soon as bozo saw that, he freaked, and banned me from using Terminal. I've e-mailed the head of the University to ask if I can use Terminal, but in the meantime, is there any way to open it, if the permissions have been set to prevent it?
I repeat: I'm not trying to hack into one of these machines.
    Thanks.

You can bypass the GUI and directly login to your
shell if the login window is set to name and
password. Type: >console and press return. Now enter
your user name and password. Expect your friendly
    admin to go bonkers!
I found another method.. in TextEdit, I do..
    do shell script "open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app"
... select that line and tell Mac-OSX to run it as a shell script. Sorted.

  • Mail in Terminal

Whenever I launch Terminal it reports: "Welcome to Darwin! You have new mail."
What mail? From whom/what? How do I view it? I realize this may seem to be a dumb question but I use terminal infrequently and only in prescribed circumstances.
    Thanks,
    PPC G4 DP, PowerBook G4, PPC G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I realized that when I used the mail command in terminal, although it told me permission was denied, it did provide the path, which I realized would be invisible. I used BBEdit to look for the invisible file. Permission was denied to open it. So I used Super Get Info to open the info, which showed the owner to be the temporary personality (UID 501). I could not see it earlier because it was not in the correct folder name-wise. I used Super Get Info to change ownership to me. Then I could get terminal to list everything but I gave up trying to understand how to use terminal to delete the files, so I used BBEdit to open it, deleted the contents and saved it. After that Terminal does not show that I have New Mail. Problem solved!

  • Maintenance scripts never run?/using terminal

Hi everyone! I am a very new Mac user and am finding at times it to be completely daunting.
So my question/problem is this: I shut down my computer nightly, and from what I have researched, it does not perform maintenance. I did a Terminal command to find when my script last ran and received this:
ls: /var/log/*.out: No such file or directory
Does this mean the scripts have never run? Can I change the default times these are executed?
I also went into the launchdaemons folder and it is empty. Does that mean anything?
I could really used a dumb down version of any answers, I have never used a Mac before I bought one, and actually just learned of the Terminal program today. I have been to The X Lab and read through that site, and searched the forum here.
Sorry for all the questions, I am so confused and terrified of damaging this computer.
    Thank you in advance!

    Welcome To  Discussions irach!
    Here is some additional info.
As Kappy posted, if you turn the Mac off nightly, the Background Maintenance Tasks, are never run.
These can also be run, using a Third-Party utility, or manually using Terminal, to run the CRON Commands.
    I use MacJanitor, when necessary.
INSTRUCTIONS TO RUN CRON MANUAL COMMANDS
    Quit all applications/programs.
Navigate to HD > Applications > Utilities.
Double click on Terminal, to open.
    At the prompt, type:
    sudo periodic daily
    Press Return.
Enter your Admin password when prompted, then press Return.
This will execute the daily script that is sheduled to run every night.
When completed, repeat this procedure, but change the command to:
    sudo periodic weekly
This one rebuilds a database or two, and usually takes somewhat longer to complete. It is scheduled to run once a week.
    Repeat again, with command:
    sudo periodic monthly
Or they can all be run in one pass, which is preferable, with this command:
    sudo periodic daily weekly monthly
When the tasks complete, and return to the prompt, you may quit Terminal.
Restart the Mac, and run Repair Permissions.
TO REPAIR PERMISSIONS ON THE STARTUP DISK
1.Open Disk Utility, located in Applications/Utilities, and select the startup disk in the left column.
    2.Click First Aid.
3.Click Verify Disk Permissions to test permissions or Repair Disk Permissions to test and repair permissions. (I never "Verify". Just run "Repair".)
Rerun RP, until the only messages reported, are listed here Spurious Permissions Errors Using: 10.4.x, authored by Michael Conniff.
When "Repair Permissions" is complete. Quit "Disk Utility".

  • Send mail using Internal Mail server doesn't work

I can't send mail using my companies mail server, which requires authentication and port 587 to send.  We have a valid, non self-signed SSL certificate so that is not the issue.  I can send mail using Bell's mail server but that violates our regulatory compliance obligations.
The server using POP3 and one must login to get mail as well as send.  Unfortunately there is no otehr error message than the: error sending "mail subject".  No further details are provided and when we check the mail servers logs its clear the Pre isn't even attempting to connect to the mail server.  So the request to send mail isn't even being sent out.  That could be an issue with the Pre or with Bell but Bell support will only troubleshoot to the point of fidning out if you can send using their mail server.  We can so their support stops at that point.
I still have v1.3.1 of the WebOS as v1.3.5 doesn't seem to be out for the Bell Pre's yet.  But from what I've read v1.3.5 is even worse at handling mail not better.  However, there may be a solution out there to this beyond sending the Pre's back (I doubt we can) as Balckberry's and iPhone's don't have this issue.
    Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Bell)

Further update on this problem.  It does send if I use TLS instead of SSL so that must mean that the Palm Pre doesn't use SSLv3 or higher.  As TLS is a viable security setting option to maintain compliance I can use that.  But still Plam should seriously consider upgrading tis SSL versioning.

  • IPhoto4 and e-mail using AOL

I have iPhoto 4.0.3 and I could have sworn that last month I was able to send pictures via e-mail using my AOL. The other day, I was trying to send some pictures but I am unable to get select "America Online". Selecting the e-mail icon at the bottom of the iPhoto window automatically opened a "Mail" window after the picture was compressed. When I went to Iphoto>Preferences, the "Mail using" tab was set to "Mail" and the other three choices (including "America Online" are dimmed, and so can't be selected. Can you help?
    Steve Rachbach

Thanks Peter and Sue, but still problems. I was able to get into the mail preferences using minimal data on the first screen. I did change the default Email reader to my "AOL (10.3)" application. However, when I click Email on the bottom of the iPhoto screen, it still comes up with a "Mail" window. I tried quitting the programs and coming back in and I even shut down and restarted the computer. No luck, the Mail preferences window is still available and still has AOL as the default Email reader, but when a photo is selected for email, it opens a "Mail" window (with or without being signed onto AOL)

  • ?s on using Terminal to unlock an internal volume

Recently one of my internal volumes (ALB Files) is displaying a "lock" symbol in the lower left corner. After using "get if," all the permissions have been changes to "custom" and I am unable to access the data.
I have my internal 500GB HD partitioned as such:
ALB OS -> only the operating system
ALB Files -> all other media (music, movies, docs, etc)
From what I've gathered on various forums, I need to use terminal to fix the access rights on the "ALB Files" volume. Here are the terminal scripts I think I need:
sudo chflags 0 /volumes/* ---> this removes the current access info on ALL volumes
sudo chmod a+rx /volumes/* ---> this adds read/write for all users on ALL volumes
    sudo chmod o=rx /
sudo chmod -N ---> the last two are suppose to remove "everyone" from having top level access to the drives.
This is my first time using Terminal so I need some help executing the scripts properly. I want to change the scripts to only target one specific volume "ALB Files." Therefore, should the first two scripts read:
sudo chflags 0 /"ALB Files"/* ---> this removes the current access info only on "ALB Files?"
sudo chmod a+rx /ALB Files"/* ---> this adds read/write for all users only on "ALB Files?"
Please let me know if these commands are correct or suggest what I should use instead.
Also, because I am changing permissions on my OS volume, do I need to boot from the OSX disk and run Terminal there?
    Thanks much for the help!!!

    Run commands such as:
    sudo chflags 0 '/Volumes/ALB Files/'
Also, because I am changing permissions on my OS volume, do I need to boot from the OSX disk and run Terminal there?
    No.

  • Attach whole certificate chain when signing e-mails using S/MIME

    Hello,
I'd like to sign e-mails using S/MIME and the iOS mail app.
Therefore I installed the certificate containing my private key (issued by certum.eu) as a profile and activated S/MIME in the mail account settings (iOS settings). The certificate is selected there properly and the option to sign e-mails automatically has been enabled.
When I send e-mails now, they get signed - but not correctly: some e-mail clients say the signature was invalid.
When I send and sign e-mails with Outlook for Windows using the same certificate all the e-mail clients recognize the signature as valid.
The problem seems to be that the iOS mail app does not attach the whole certificate chain to the signature. Some e-mail client thus cannot validate it. (Windows for example is enrolled with certum's root CA by default but without the required intermediate certificates.)
The certificate I imported into iOS DOES contain all intermediate certificates (and they are listed in iOS when I retrieve the certificate's details there) and iOS says the certificate is 'trustworthy'. So all information needed should be available on the device.
How can I make the mail app behave like Outlook? Thank you very much in advance.
    Best wishes

    Hey,
I do not understand the current approach by BlackBerry.
The new BlackBerry Z10 is an amazing device, but there are still some basic problems I do not understand.
Why do I need to pay for BES to use S/MIME support only? Other systems like iOS or Android can deal with those certificates without any problems and on non server based architectures.
Are there any plans on an easier and less expensive solutions to use encrypted email?
    Thanks!

  • How do I transfer all the information in my iTunes on my old mac book to my new mac book pro so I can sync my devices to the new machine with erasing all the data my iPhone and iPad?

I have just bought a new mac book pro and want to use this machine as the main computer to which I will sync my iPhone and iPad.
How do I transfer the information within iTunes on my old mac book so when I connect the devices the new machine will not erase all my data?
    Thank you

Copy the entire iTunes folder within the music folder on your old Mac to the music folder on your new Mac.
You can use an external hard disc for the transfer, or you can connect the computers together using Firewire Target Disc Mode as explained here:  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1661
