Mac OS X 10.6.8 experiencing problems with Safari
I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.8 snow leopard and Safari version 5.1.10 which claims to be up to date. On sights such as Folksy I'm getting error messages when I try to upload photos, saying that my browser isn't up to date. I have had problems with Facebook and the blue navigation bar appearing only intermittently. Can anyone suggest what I should do to fix these issues?
Of course you may be able to upgrade to a higher OS version but that depends on your iMac variant. Some can run no higher than OS 10.6 and other are constrained to running no higher than 10.7. To see what is possible from OS 10.6, click on your Apple menu (left end of menubar) and, while the pulldown options are visible, press the OPTION key. The first item, normally "About this Mac," will change to "System Profiler." Launch it.
The opening Profiler screen will show your Hardware Overview. In the image below, I have indicated with the red arrow a model code that will precisely identify your iMac variant:
Also note the amount of "Memory" installed (the ninth line) and tell us what that is. Some older Macs did not ship with enough RAM for newer OS versions and more may need to be added.

Iv'e had my mac for 2 weeks safari was working great until I changed to a wire less super hub. Safari will not let me open & log into a web site I go on a lot. My ipad & windows lap top will on the same network. Apple have said it's the DNS setting my cable provider say it's not it's a problem with my mac. Iv'e phoned apple lots of times same with cable provider Iv'e tried a few things it has not helped solve the problem. I'm now advised to return my mac to the shop for a check. Has anyone else had this problem I would appreciate any help because I'm going round in circles.
Adding a couple of DNS numbers sometimes helps:
System Preferences>Network, select your wifi or ethernet network on the left and click on the 'advanced' button and then the DNS tab. On the left side of the window make a note of any DNS numbers listed so that you can re-instate them if necessary and then click on the '+" button bottom left of the window. Type 8.8.8.8 and click the + again and type 8.8.4.4 save the settings and try the website again.
BTW, I have the same problem with Firefox not letting me input my password in secure sites. I did find a workround in the network settings in Firefpx prefs, but it didn't stick so I reverted to using Chrome as alternative browser. No problems with that so long as you don't mind Google looking over your shoulder -
First, I'm assuming when the rainbow wheel appears, the computer is processing. Second, I'm seeing that almost anytime I click on one website, click on a tab in the website, or try to get out of safari. I don't know if seeing that more means my computer is not functioning properly, or that it's been on too long and needs to shut down, or what? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You can use the Tab key to select a search engine on the bottom bar and press Enter to use the search engine to do the search.

In the current Firefox 34 release there is a new "one-off" search bar.
This search bar doesn't show the name of the search engine and a logo.
You can type one letter to make a drop-down list appear where you can see suggestions and see the used search engine and that also has bar at the bottom where you can select other search engines that are enabled via the Search tab in Options/Preferences.
You can use the Tab key to select one of the other available search engines and press the Enter key to search with the selected search engine.
Click the search engine icon and click "Change Search Settings" to open the Search tab in Options/Preferences (positioned between Tabs and Content) to select the default search engine and select which search engines to show in the search bar drop-down list that opens when you start typing search terms. -
Has anyone experienced problems with Mackeeper? I did not complete downloading this software. Yet, occasionally when on the internet, I will have the MacKeeper multi-colored circle replace my pointer. How do you deal with this?

I have a early 2011 Macbook pro 13 inch, I'm running Lion 10.7.4, and i want to upgrade to 10.8 Mountain Lion. Is it safe for my computer or are people experiencing problems with displays and Battery life?
Do Not post stuff about how Airplay doesnt work, because i dont have Apple TV and dont need to hear about it.If you have an external drive equal to or larger than your internal HD, clone your internal to it with either Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper. Test the clone to make sure it's bootable. Then upgrade either one. Try it out first.

My wife has been having problems with Safari, and many third party software and malware programs infecting her Mac Book Pro. I have tried to reset Safari but it keeps coming back, taking over Safari, changing defaults, start pages, and search engines, Etc.
Is it safe to use programs like MacKeeper, who keeps send my wife's computer message and alerts, or should I just wipe the drive and start over?

We have version 10.5.8 photoshop CS3 for Mac. How do we fix a problem with photoshop not resizing dpi? For example we resized a 72 dpi image to 200 dpi, when we do a pdf analysis it read as 344 dpi.
Sounds like it's a problem with the Acrobat settings. Did you set them to the same resolution?

My iPhone 5 is experiencing problems with the Wifi at home. It shows that it is connected to the wifi but anything that uses wifi (apps etc) doesn't load content and just looks like it's loading forever but nothing ever comes. However the wifi and wifi/internet dependant apps work sometimes but it's rare. How do I fix this?
Back up all data.
Unlock the Network preference pane, if necessary, by clicking the lock icon in the lower left corner and entering your password. Cllck Advanced, open the DNS tab, and change the server addresses to the following:
8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4
That's Google DNS. Click OK, then Apply.
In Safari, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If you’re using another browser, empty the cache. Test. Any difference?
Notes:
1. If you lose Internet access after making the above change to your network settings, delete the Google servers in the Network preference pane, then select the TCP/IP tab and click Renew DHCP Lease. That should restore the original DNS settings; otherwise restore them yourself. Remember that you must click Apply in order for any changes to take effect.
2. I don't use Google DNS myself, though I have tested it, and I'm not recommending it or any other DNS provider; the server addresses are offered merely for testing purposes. There may be privacy and technical issues involved in using that service, which you should investigate personally before you decide whether to keep the settings. Other public DNS services exist. -
I am being informed by the manufacturer's Customer Support Technician in reference to where their USB2.0 device is being referred to as a possible cause of incompatability with my mini's USB3 connection, and I quote: "They are supposed to be "backwards compatible" but some users devices are working fine with those ports for periods of time (months, weeks, days) and then just mysteriously not working one day, so be cautious of trusting Apple's marketing." and he further suggests using a USB2 hub to be compatible. Because of this incompatability this device ( $200 plus tax,) is being rendered inoperable for the the main facility for which I purchased it.
I'd be pleased to hear reactions from others on the validity of this claim and whether it is or should be incumbent on manufacturers of devices that are produced solely for use with Apple products that they should at least be compatible ( USB3 ) with those products and especially if it is known that the use of USB2 can create problems. I happen to be using the Bell Fibe TV system and their receivers, I have three, operate similar to routers in that they operate in conjunction with each other. If you set up a recording on one that recording will also appear on the other two. And it so happens that the device I am experiencing problems with happens to be attached to one of those receivers and it happens to prevent that receiver from making a recording that is separate from the recordings made by the PVR in that receiver.

Has anyone experienced problems with downloading Nikon D800 files to the iPad3 using the camer connector kit? I have tried .RAW and JPEG (of various sizes) on both SD and CF cards, but the iPad doesn't recognise the files.
I have seen various forums discussing Lightroom and PSE updates that are required to process .NEF files but I can't find anything on the iPad/camera connector issue.
I dont have any problem if I put the SD card straight into the SD slot in my iMac and Aperture will process the files fine, but I would really like to be able to download and view files on the move on the iPad.
Any advice appreciated?
PS - saw something that suggested the iPad had a maximum file size of 16mb for photos, not sure if this is correct, but I have tried smaller JPEG files and they still aren't recognised.If your camera supports both PTP and Mass Storage Device modes, it may be necessary to use both modes to import all media content.
If some files do not import as expected using one mode, try switching to the other mode and importing again.
Note: Some cameras may refer to PTP as Pictbridge or PTP/Pictbridge. -

I had been having a similar problem on Lion with Safari pdf files despite downloading the latest Adobe Reader XI.
I would constantly get the same messages - There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired. And I would get a blank page when I tried to print the pdf if I tried printing from the Safari web page using File - Print from the top toolbar on my laptop.
Then I came across the grey Safari lozenge with action icons.
This allowed me, without downloading the pdf, to print the pdf file direct from the Safari page by using the Print icon on the grey lozenge that appears centrally three quarters down the screen.
Then I discovered that if I save the pdf using the Save icon from this same grey lozenge on the Safari page I can open and print this pdf version from my desktop.
I've tested it with a couple of different pdf files and these methods work using the grey lozenge icons but the same pdfs files don't work using File - Save As on the Tool Bar. -
Experiencing problems with workflow- validate step
I am experiencing problems with workflow->validate step in Hyperion FDM.
I am not able to export unmapped dimension members to Excel.
Earlier everything worked fine.
But now all of a sudden it has become a serious problem.
when I click Export to Excel,processing starts and it's never coming to an end.
Every thing is getting stuck up.
Could any one suggest solution to this as it is delaying my deliverable.Try opening excel first, then doing the export from FDM.
