    You can see which apps are open and/or recently used by double-clicking the home button to bring up the taskbar at the bottom of the screen (not all apps that appear there are active) - you can then close apps on it by pressing and holding one of them for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar. If you have an app 'open' on-screen then it won't appear on the taskbar, you will need to go back to the homescreen first, and it should then show when you next open the taskbar.

    Make sure Settings > iCloud > Photos > iCloud Photo Library (Beta) = "Off"
    Then sync your iPhone using iTunes and make sure your sync settings for photos are set correctly in iTunes.

  • MAC pro is BETTER??

    Hey again. I was considering purchasing an alien-ware desktop computer, either the area-51 7500 or the aurora 7500 with the default setups. However, after seeing the Mac Pro, I was hesitant about making that purchase.
    Would the MAC Pro be better than these two machines. ?
    Both would have one dual core processer, 1 GB ram.
    Ignore the video cards and hard drive sizes.
    I plan to use Windows XP.
    The SATA hard drive problem will soon be fixed so I am not worried about that issue.

    For me, support is everything... over the last 2 1/2 months, I've had troubles with my machine and had it at the Apple Store for quite a while. I did a lot of complaining to the folks at Apple about certain things and to make a long story short, they've taken care of me. The MacPro is incredibly quiet, and runs beautifully. Of course this is with OSX and not Windows, so your experience might differ.
    While I was going through the headache, I did some research into other machines, mostly Alienware and Dell. What I found out about Alienware scared me good and far away from their products. I simply Googled Alienware and found a lot of customer reviews about their support and customer service and it was not pretty.
    I'm sure if you get a machine that works flawlessly, you may never have to experience these short-comings, (not that the reviews about buying were good at all), but if you don't, it sounds like they're very contentious and if you return the machine, you're slapped with a $250.00 re-stocking fee.
    Of course this is just my 2¢; do the research, it won't be hard to find, and come up with your own conclusions, just be aware of what you might have to go through.
    The service you get after you buy is just as critical as the treatment you receive when shelling out the money.

    Without speculating on the release date of Sun Cluster 3.x or even its feature list, I would like to understand what risk Sun would take when Sun Cluster would support ZFS as a failover filesystem?     BTW: this means that even Veritas will have to do something about ZFS!!!
    If VCS is a much better option, it would be interesting to understand what features are missing from Sun Cluster to make it really competitive.

    Although the answer is going to be the same, I would prefer to know what version of Premiere Elements is involved and on what computer operating system it is running in order to get version specific when necessary without requesting the information later than sooner.

    The idea is that whenever the Blu-Ray comes up, it always shows the beginning 25-second sequence, then always goes to a menu that says "Play Movie" and "Scene Menu" or something to that effect
    Stop markers do not function in the playback of Premiere Elements (any version) Blu-ray disc format on Blu-ray disc. They do in the playback of Premiere Elements (any version) DVD-VIDEO format on a DVD disc.
    You would have to find another video editor for that purpose or export your Premiere Elements Timeline to a file saved to the computer hard drive and then taken into another program for menu creation (with a stop marker like feature) and burn to disc there. You would need to determine ahead of time what formats the other program support.
    Blu-ray burn to project
    If you have 9 scenes and place scene markers for each
    a. the viewer can select any one of the scenes from the scene selection page
    b. with or without stop markers, it will be the same at playback of the Blu-ray disc, example
    if the viewer selects scene 5 from the scene selection page, playback will be scenes 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 with automatic
    return to the main menu
    if the viewer selects scene 1 from the scene selection page, playback will be scenes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9 with automatic
    return to the main menu

    Simple, You have a hardware problem that only Apple can fix. So you need to take it back in to an Apple store and have it fixed by Apple. If it is still within it's one year warranty period it will be free.
    If you khaven't bought the Apple care Extended Warranty, Applecare, then I suggest you do that before the standard one year warranty runs out. You can't buy it after that one year warranty runs out and to fix any Mac out of warranty is Very Expensive.

    I want to set my program to fill the screen. This works mainFrame.setExtendedState(JFrame.MAXIMIZED_BOTH);
    but it covers the windows start bar. I want it to maximize and not cover the windows task bar (the thing that has the clock and start button etc...)
    also this program is intended for all plate forms. so for mac I don't want it to cover the task bar that is at the top of the screen.
    and for linux i don't want it to cover the task bar if there is one. thanks.

  • Mac  can't see HD when booting from CD

    I just bought a used Powermac G4(MDD) single core 1.25Ghz w/256Mb of ram and an 80Gb HD from a school sale and decided to reinstall OS 10.0.3. When I finally got the installer to come up(after numerous kernal panics) it couldn't see my HD. Booting w/9.2 disc didn't do it either so I moved my system folder to my flash drive and attempted to boot off of it. It then saw the HD and I initialized it and did the write zeros thing and still nothing. I replaced the HD but quickly found no conventional means to format it seeing as it couldn't see that one either period and I could find no third-party programs to do so. I'm not inexperienced as far as technology goes as I am a computer technician but I know fairly little about Macs and bought this to see what all the hype is about. So far it's been fairly disappointing:(
    I'm sure a working one is much more enthralling:) Anyway...any input would be most appreciated. Thanks!

    I've tried the disk utilites..none of them can see the drive while I'm booting off the CD and the system profiler can't see it either. The software I'm using didn't come w/my Mac, I got it randomly when I bought it out of a box of software. I assumed that any OS disk would work with any Mac(excluding system requirements). Do I need to buy a new copy or is it my Mac? Where is this list of minimum OS's or each Mac? That could be the problem as I'm using OS 9.2.2 and OS 10.1.3. I'm not going to upgrade my system as I just wanna play with it and learn what's apparently so great about Macs.

    I am having a problem. My macbook pro shuts down OSX and all my programs when the lid is closed. I close the lid, and then I hear the shutdown music and then when I open it again it automatically restarts OSX and all my windows and programs are closed, any info gone.
    This doesn't happen all the time. Just once a day or maybe twice a day. It seems like it happens basically when I have my computer just the way I want it, to keep an eye on things for the day.
    I just recently switched to a mac and while somewhat savvy, I am not a programmer or techie, but it seems to me that when I shut the lid, it should do the same thing every time.
    I have a intel core 2 duo 17 inch macbook pro with 2.33 processr and 2 gig ram, if that helps.
    I am in alaska and there is no genius bar here and I am hoping to figure this out before I begin bugging our local independant mac store about this.

    Ahhh, enlightenment!
    That would make sense. What I usually do, after closing the lid, is to wait for the apple to turn off and then set it down on it's side leaning it against the side table. I will try to wait for it to indicate that it is fully asleep before I move it next time. Personally, I prefer my computer to NOT fall asleep at all, but I am told it is not an option. Apparently this function is hardware related accoring to my local mac shop. They tracked it down for me because I hated this feature when I first bought my computer and was trying some way around it.
    The shutdown music I was refering to was that music the mac makes when shutting down, which doesnt usually occur when it goes to sleep, unless it is malfunctioning like this.
    What does resetting the pmu do? (what is a pmu as well?)

    Just as you've done on this post, something I've seen on other forums that proved very helpful is for a forum administrator to post an announcement on the forum. In this announcement they asked people posting threads to include their version of the software with their question.
    Please consider taking this approach with the existing Oracle BPM forum and have the administrator of the exsting Oracle BPM forum post this announcement. That way we will know immediately when new threads appear that it is an Oracle BPM 11g question. This will help lessen the confusion and continue to make the forum useful for all Oracle BPM customers.

    Hi - I tried using the search facility for FAQ and couldn't find anything. The only link to Project Marvel I can find indicates I need to register for the beta program. Is there any way to just play around with it without being required to develop a test application and other such stuff?

    though you do need to register/sign_up to use project marvel, you don't necessarilly need to fully participate in the formal beta program. simply indicate in the section of the registration that says "Project(s) Description (describe what you intend to use this tool for)" that you'd like to play around with the tool. so long as you provide useful feedback if/when you encounter it, i'm pretty sure you should be good to go. as a bit of advice, though, creating a simple application or two from start to finish (with authentication and such in place) really goes a long way towards grasping the big picture. given that it can be a matter of minutes to create such a tiny app with marvel, it's hard to pass that big picture up.
