Mac OS X: "Books" not working? (Change to module not possible)
Mac OS X Lion, all updates installed
I installed the Beta beside Lightroom 3. When clicking on the module name "Books" I get the message that the change to this module is not possible. After that the software is completely inoperable, no change to any module works.
The problem is reproduceable.

No answer there either.

I never had this problem before. Is it becaus I choose custom instead of the prefab themes?

thanks.Very simple - find the missing photos nad fill the frames - typically the missing [photos are in background that requires a photo with a page layout with places photos in from of it making it hard to find - if you are getting that message you are missing one or more photos - jsut find them and eeither put photos there or change to a colored background instead of a photo background

Creation of Calendars and Books not possible
i cannot create calendars or books with iphoto '08. cards do work. there are no themes or pictures shown in the window. what shall i do?

To creat a new DC in shared repository do the following:
1. Create a DC in the local repository
2. Go to manage models, click on the newly created DC and you would see the icon with blue + (tooltip: Add to the source control)
3. Your local DC is now your shared DC

Worst support ever - TC drops WAN/internet and config not possible
Brand new TC Dual Band 1GB. Connected to Siemens Fiber modem using DHCP, one 2GB USB disk, configured as WAP.
It dies several times a week - when it dies internet connection is lost and airport utility sees the TC but cannot read the configuration - LAN, WLAN and disks are operational. This is for wireless and wired devices (2PC's and 2 Mac's).
My previous setup - the siemens modem with a LinkSys router worked 100% stable.
I have tried resetting - resetting to factory defaults, I have had a replacement TC sent - not better, seemed even worse. Reinserted my linksys router and hooked the TC's WAN port to the Linksys - still dying - so I returned the replacement unit and kept the original.
I spoke to support again - they had one "expert" calling me - what an arrogant SOAG, at some point he said - "end of conversation" and slammed the phone.
He had never heard of the problem - "most be the ISP's equipment or the LinkSys".
Tried to explain him that i'm not the only one - just check apple forums - that the TC has problems with my Siemens fiber modem, LinkSys doesn't, and even placing my Linksys router between doesn't help.
For me this all indicates that the firmware on the TC is not stable - he argued that this is not the case, this is a compatibility issue. I agree that it might be a compatibility issue - but the root cause is still the firmware of the TC.
He wanted me to try the TC at a different location with a different ISP - but for me that would just show that the TC works in some setups - but for him that would 100% clear the TC of any blame - that makes no sense.
Am I wrong - or is the "expert" wrong - give me your opinion, thanks.Similar problem, cannot connect to TC with Airport Utility so config not possible cannot access with the Configure>Other IP address way either, until I reboot the tc than all is well for a few days. It continues to function as PPPoE connection to fiber internet. Usually the MobileMe back to my Mac access is also not possible to access TC's disk. Also, just to update, my iMac cursor seems to glitch a little bit less now. It seems that at least ONE of my problems may have been caused by sitting my iPhone upon my WACOM tablet. The tablet must receive some sort of disruption from having my phone on it - and removing it seems to remedy a fraction of my mouse-jumping problems - if only for a meanwhile.
The mouse cursor still does jump around on its own occasionally, and the other mouse problems do persist - so this must not be the only culprit for my array of problems. -
I added a contact to my iphone 4s and when I did a sync manually it is not showing up on my MAC in address book - please help....I checked off sync all contacts in iTunes - does it only work one way from computer to phone?
Is it because the new itunes looks different.

I have a work Mac, an air book, a home Mac; husband has desktop and laptop. That makes 5. My work computer was replaced and I do not know what the company did with it. I am not allowed to deauthorize all because I did this within the last year when I got my new airbook. Any way around the year limit? I don't know if I can find my old computer and I don't want to wait months to be able to play my ituens purchases on my new work computer.

how do I figure out if I have usb 3.0? I am trying to buy compatible external hard drive (western digital my passport for mac) and I can not figure out if it will work with my mac book.
Dont buy a Western Digital, get a Hitachi or Seagate (Toshiba is made by Hitachi). These are the most reliable, and the HD used inside Macs.
ALL HD can be made compatible with your MAC (including a WD if you already bought same), ......they just need to be formatted for the Mac platform, format them in Disk Utility as Mac OSX extended journaled. -

Are you saying that you are trying to sync your contacts to iCloud? Are the two accounts you mention ".mac" and ".me" actually different in that they are [email protected] vs. [email protected]? If so, your device can only use one account at once - and you should stick to only one account. -
How do i know if my mac book is working on N speed
I just bought the new airport extreme and there is a software that allow to change the configuration of the mac books from G speed to N. I check that i have that software installed, but i don't know how to make it work. I don't know if it is working but i surely don't feel any difference on the speed of my network.
If somebody can help me telling me how to check is my mac book is working on N will be really appreciated.
Also, can somebody tell me how many kb/sec is N speed and G speed. And how to se at what speed I<m tranfering data between my macbook and my external drive.

☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Step 1
Copy or drag — do not type — the line below into the Terminal window, then press return:
launchctl getenv DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES
Post the lines of output, if any, that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.)
Step 2
Repeat with this line (triple-click anywhere in it to select the whole line):
find /Applications /System/Library/CoreServices -type d -name *.app -exec defaults read {}/Contents/Info LSEnvironment \; 2> /dev/null | grep DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear.
If you get no output from either step, you're not infected with any variant of Flashback that I know of. -
ps cs6 on mac. since installing yosemite, when working on an image if i want to change tool, via shortcut or wacom pen click, i now have to click on the image title bar, how can i fix this ?
@Naiks, having suffered through unsuccessful synching attempts for Calendar and Contacts myself, l would suggest you try the following:
UNINSTALL iCloud control panel from your PC. Seems silly, but do it.
Go into Outlook, and look at the very top menu. Click FILE, then ACCOUNT SETTINGS, then click the popup box.
You will see a list of all your email accounts. Make sure that ONE of them has a checkmark against it. If not, select the account your want as your default, and click "set as default.
Exit out of Outlook and reboot your machine.
Now reinstall iCloud, check CALENDAR and CONTACTS, and do as instructed when prompted.
Reboot for good luck and now launch OUTLOOK. All that remains is to locate your iCloud Contacts and Calendar files, and make them your default.
IMPORTANT: Don't panic if you can't find your contacts -- they're there. Click CONTACTS and you'll see you have several available contact files. Locate the one label "iCloud" in grey type. Right-click on it, select PROPERTIES, then click the Outlook Address Book tab. Check the box that says something like "Make this my default Outlook Address Book." Keep clicking "apply" and "okay" until you've exited out of the dialog box maze.
You may have to do something similar with your Calendar files. I dd not, but if you need to, do it.
Everything should now sync pretty seamlessly.

My 10.8.3 update did not install properly citing an 'Unknown Error'. Now, my Mail and Mac App Store aren't working. What went wrong and how do i fix it ?
I tried this and still have the same problems. If I open Address book or the Mac App Store I get the library rebuild popup and a hang. I created a fresh user and then things are better apart from the printing issue. Its clearly some 3rd party software issue but the crash logs are meningless to me. I used the excellent Etre check app from http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck so I have a list of what is being loaded and can compare clean and crashed user info but as I cant work out which of the startup items, launch agents, launch daemons etc that are causing the problem.
I have eliminated Dropbox, Mac Keeper and Witness, and it isnt related to my exterrnal LED cinema dispay or my external thunderbolt drives, or any USB devices if thats any help to anyone else. Info from Etrecheck follows -

Somehow the Notes app on my personal iPhone 4 has synced with my workplace Mac Pro. How do I change this?
They do not have the same apple id's. I want to sync notes to my personal computer through icloud - just not my work computer. I will try to delete the account for my work Mac the way you suggest. I just can't figure out how my Mac Pro linked to my personal iPhone. They are separate accounts, separate ids, separate emails, Mac Pro account was set up by the IT guy at work. Thanks for your help.

I just got the solution (that worked for me, anyway) from a Sony support rep. No PC or VMWare needed.
OK, you've installed Sony eBook Library v3, and Adobe Digital editions, you've set up your acocunts and authorized your computer on both of them, and you've authorized your Reader with the Sony Library application.
You go to the public library ebook download page, either through the Sony Library or just through a bookmark.
You check out a book, and open it in Adobe Digital Editions, which still won't recognize your Reader.
BUT, in the Sony Library app, you can now click "File, Import.." and go find the pdf you downloaded with the Adobe app.
On my Mac, it was in ~/Documents/Digital Editions
Import it, and drag it to your Reader.
The first time you do this, it will ask you to authorize the Reader with your Adobe ID.
Worked like a charm. -
In Pages 5.2, some fonts "not available", yet present in Font Book and working in other apps
Using Pages 5.2, I open a document created in a previous version, and I get error messages about certain fonts within a font family being "not available" in OS X. However, these supposedly unavailable fonts are present in Font Book and work just fine in all other apps running on OS X. In fact, I still have the older version of Pages on my system, and it still finds the fonts without issue. The specific fonts troubling me at the moment are Myriad Pro Semibold It and Myriad Pro Cond. Pages 5.2 replaces them with Helvetica. I have wasted hours of time trying to resolve this problem, and I am at a total loss. What can I do?
Like so many other thing is is probably gone. Why not use Pages 09 that has about 100 features more than Pages 5. If you haven't deleted it it should still be in Applications/iWork 09 folder.
