Mac OS X Image w/ Applications
I would like to create a bootable image of my OS X along with the applications I have installed, so if the need presented itself I can restore the OS with the applications without having to do each App individually. How can one do that? Thanks.
You cannot do it to CD/DVD as the only method possible, known as BootCD is not Tiger compatbile. Even then BootCD creates a very rudimentary disc image, that would not suffice for all your applications.
Your best option is to purchase an external FireWire hard drive, and use Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper to clone your existing system to the external drive.

Make sure that Firefox gets installed properly.<br />
Open the DMG file and drag to Firefox program to the application folder on your hard drive.<br />
You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the disk image, but drag it out of the DMG folder instead.<br />

Yes, I can find it on my Application folder.
When I try to relaunch it, it says,"Mac OS X and other applications are not affected. Click relaunch to launch the application again. Click Report to see more details or send a report to Apple."
When I click "Relaunch" it just brings up the above messege. When I click "Report" it shows:

Is it possible to import and display/plot (Google Earth) KVM files as overlays in Mac OS 10.9 Maps application?
Here is the particular application: (note I haven't gotten the code to compile yet -- seems to be several differently named environment variables in Mac unix than in Linux that are making the compile blow up -- but that's another issue) there is a freeware application that can do radio path loss prediction and plot path loss contours on a map. It has an option to output the data as KML files which can be imported into Google Earth, in order to display the path loss contours on Google Earth maps. I guess you could liken it to displaying overlays of GIS-like data in Google Earth. I would like to know if there is a mechanism to facilitate importing KML data files to overlay (preferably in a translucent fasion so that you could see the underlying map) onto Mac OS 10.9 Maps?varjak paw wrote:

As I stated, "possibly."
While the commerce side of it has little to do with the KML files, per se, the API for the layer data should allow for any type of overlay.
Also, the patent was filed Dec 19, 2013. There was a related patent filed in 2012. Not sure what it is about. -

Just updated to 3.6.8. Now can't navigate reliably. Frequently get this error message: "Server Error in '/' Application. Validation of viewstate MAC failed. According to your description, my understanding is that you got an error when you deleted columns in SharePoint 2010.
Please add the following string in <system.web> section of your web.config file :
<pages validateRequest="false" enableEventValidation="false" viewStateEncryptionMode ="Never" />
Note: before changing web.config, please make a backup for the file.

I on os x 10.7 and I'm going to upgrade to 10.8 installed messages already do i have to uninstall and what about my mac os x 10.7 applications. Like word and minecraft What happens to them?
Not until the day that 10.8 is released will anyone know the details but it's doubtful you will have to uninstall Messages. Native Mac OS X applications that run on v10.7 shouldn't be a problem wtih 10.8 but again, we won't know until Mountain Lion is released.

My N80 track folder shows images and applications ...
When I open the track folder from the gallery, not only does it show my music, it also shows images and applications, though the thumbnail for the applications is the thumbnail usually shown for images, plus some of these files aren't getting deleted, now my track folder is a total mess, can someone please tell me what to do??

I hope I'm submitting this properly, I apologize if this irritates anyone because of improper etiquette. Why do applications (Illustrator, Pages, Mail) launch so slowly with spinning ball (about a minute to 90 seconds) when Mac is connected to our LAN, but when I disconnected Mac from the LAN, those applications launch instantly and function normally? This is a condition which seemed to start just recently and abruptly. These applications reside on, and are launched from the startup drive, not from a network drive. Also, we have a NAS drive on the LAN that we connect to that also takes a minute or two to mount, when it used to (before this problem) mount on the desktop in a matter of about 5 seconds. We have three identical Mac Pros on the LAN, and they all have this problem when launching and using the above mentioned applications. When I physically unplug the network cable from the Mac, all applications launch instantly and function normally. I know very little about networks, so I can't begin to test or change any setting pertaining to our network - if that is where the problem lies. The only recent change to our network situation is that we lost or our internet and phone service due to massive flooding here in Minot, North Dakota (our ISP tells us the communication lines are under water and shorting out). But shouldn't our LAN still function even though we have lost our connection to the outside world? Thanks so much, in advance, for helping me solve this problem. Sheldon.
Hi there.
A slow LAN can have many things so its going slow.
1) is your lan 1gbit speed? (full duplex)
2) are the macs also 1Gbit speed? (full duplex)
3) does your nas has a firewall? (so you can see what the mac asking there)
4) on the macs is the firewall on? (does the programms can pass the fw?)
5) how big is the nas and how many files/dirctorys are on the nas? (big folders speeds down )
many questions, but sometimes there is a solution.

I cleaned up my mac and now all my applications are gone. I try to open them and it has a question mark on the app icon. Everything from System prefrences, Everything in itunes, iphoto, preview and mail? Please help
These question marks are on your dock? And you can't open applications from your dock?
If so, try this: Open a new finder window and navigate to the Applications folder in your hard disk. The applications in question should still be in there (the Applications folder). So drag each of the application icons that you want to be available on your dock from the Applications folder onto your dock, one by one. Take each of your question mark icons that are on the dock and drag them off the dock to get rid of them. See if that fixes you up.
Now, if your hard disk no longer has an Applications folder in it, or the Applications folder is empty, you are going to have to reinstall OS 10.6 then do a software update to bring you back up to OS 10.6.8. You may be able to just go to the "optional installs" folder on the installer DVD and maybe all the stock applications are there -- I don't remember and I don't have an installer DVD handy to look. That would be way easier than doing a full blown OS reinstall. Also, as I recall, if OS 10.6 was on the computer when you bought it from the store, I think there should be an "extras" DVD that has a handful of applications that could be reinstalled from it, too. -
