Mac os x leopard auto ejects wont stay in

im trying to reformat my hard-drive. but the installation disk wont stay inside laptop. it ejects as soon as i insert it. is there anything else i can do?

1.This may occur if the installation disk is not suitable for the machine, ie, an install DVD that came with another Mac.
2. The disk could be damaged and not readable.
3. The optical drive could be defective.
If the DVD disk is good, you could connect another Mac to it using FireWire target disk mode
and use the other Mac's optical drive to reformat the drive and presumably reinstall the OS from the DVD.
If you don't wish to install the OS but simply reformat the drive, than using the other computer's Disk Utility for that purpose, will be enough to achieve that.

From what you said it appears that the synthesizer is not compatible. That would be a problem for the synthesizer manufacturer to resolve.

Mac Mini 2011 wont stay online via ethernet nor wireless, all other apple products are connecting fine

Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
Restart the router. Many problems are solved that way.
    Step 2
Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
    Step 3
    Run the Network Diagnostics assistant.
    Step 4
    Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.
    Step 5
You may need to change other settings on the router. See the guidelines linked below:
Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    Potential sources of interference
    Step 6
Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    Step 7
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).

  • Itunes auto-ejects my iPod classic immediately after mounting

    greetings,
a very strange problem started today...
    i have a 120Gig iPod classic, software version 2.0.1
i have 3 macs of different:
1 macbook pro about 3 years old with 10.6.6 and iTunes 10.1.2,
1 macbook pro also 3 years old with 10.6.7 which is my work computer, iTunes 10.5,
1 powerbook 1.5Ghz G4 with 10.4.11, iTunes 9.2.1 which is my music server connected to my stereo.
i also have a mountable partition on my iPod to transfer files between computers when needed.
i keep my iPod set to "manual syncing" in iTunes so i can plug it into any computer to play my music when away from homw.
today, when plugging in my iPod to my MBPro with 10.6.6, the iPod showed it was connected to a computer and the iPod mounted on the desktop, like normal. then, i manually started iTunes.  the iPod appeared in iTunes but wouldn't play anything when i tryed to play songs.  the display on my iPod sad "ejecting" and then behaved as though it was no longer connected to my MBPro.  the iPod partition was now unmounted in the finder.  however iTunes still showed the iPod and all the songs on it.  i ejected the iPod in iTunes and tried again.  i watched the iPod screen and saw that after connecting to iTunes it display "syncing" for a moment, then gave an message that it was being ejected...
i repeated this on my powerbook, where it normally syncs to, with the same symptoms.
i tried resetting the iPod, cycle hold switch then hold select and menu until the apple logo appeared.  the iPod reset and i tried again with the same results...
i rebooted my computers, reset the iPod again and continue to get the same behavior on all 3 computers...  clearly an iPod problem...  iTunes indicates the iPod software is up to date...
checking the console logs for iTunes error messages, the only messages that shows up with iTunes is "CGSGetWindowBounds: Null window" repeatedly.  this appears in 1 computer, don't see error messages when connecting the iPod in the other computer....
since i cannot keep my iPod mounted to any computer with any version of iTunes, i'm not sure what to do to fix it since the simple reset option doesn't work.
i searched the iPod discussion forum and didn't see anything that looks like this.
    has anyone seen this before?
any suggestions about what to try next?
    i appreciate any suggestions...
    thanks-

    greetings,
it was obviously a problem with the iPod.  so i reformatted my iPod, reinstalled i iPod software, and then did a fresh sync to iTunes.  it seems to be working fine again for the last week.  since i couldn't mount the iPod without it auto ejecting, i had to put in into "disk mode".  then i could use iTunes to reformat and start over again.
the only thing i did BEFORE erasing the iPod was to compare the changes in my podcasts, then update the changes in iTunes so they would show up as "unplayed" on my iPod after they were copied back to my iPod.  i normally listen to podcasts on my iPod and delete them there, then iTunes syncs those changes back to my computer.

  • New iMac & Mac OS X Leopard

OK, so I am a girl & may not know it all- My husband and I have an iMac G4 & an iBook G4 and he just told me that we can get a new computer for the Mac OS X Leopard server. So, a couple of questions for here, to help me out when I talk to him about what I want. Is it best to wait until Leopard comes out to get a new computer? are there any advantages or disadvantages?
I went online to build the iMac I think I want and may I have some "pro" opinions about what I ended up with?
I do a lot of creating word document stuff for my work; I'm always doing searches for my medical profession; I made several dynomite calendars from iPhoto for christmas presents, using old family slides and recent pics; I just got started with iLife and mostly using iMovie & iDVD, and I have an iPod for iTunes.
My first big project is getting close to done-iMovie to iDVD of #950 old family slides and pics with background music and my father's narration. I had to divide the project into 2 parts, each at least 1 hour in length, to burn to 2 DVD's and almost crashed the computer & sat and watched the SBOD for up to 10-15 minutes every time I clicked the mouse. My husband just bought me a WD My Book 250GB premium Edition, Dual Interface, Double Interface which has helped out some so things are not quite as slow, most of the time. I have plans to continue making a lot more DVD's and I want the speed and latest technology to help me out.
So this is what I came up with, and yes, price is an issue (& no, I have not approached my husband with the grand total I came up with). I will appreciate any advice I can get so I can make an informed decision about what will help make my projects fun vs frustrating, and what is just "fluff".
    iMac 24" screen
2.33 FHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    3GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 1x2GB, 1x1GB
    750GB Serial ATA Drive
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT 256MB SDRAM
    SuperDrive 8X (DVDRDL/DVD/-RW/CD-RW)
    Final Cut Express HD preinstalled
Apple Keyboard & Mighty Mouse + Mac OS X (US English)
AppleCare Protection Plan for iMac - Auto-enroll
    24-inch widescreen LCD
    Airport Extreme
    Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR
So what do you think? What might Leopard provide that I won't need to get?
    Thank You So Much,
    Marge
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   also have a iBook G4 & I do all the photo stuff on the iMac
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   also have a iBook G4 & I do all the photo stuff on the iMac

Well, it doesn't look like price is too much a problem with that configuration! I hope your husband let's you get it. With that price range, I'd just get it now and pay the other $129 later. There won't be enough major changes that make it all that necessary to have Leopard, and you might as well wait for all the bugs to be worked out in Leopard and work safely in Tiger. Who knows, something may flare up in Final Cut in the new OS and give you another SBOD.
If you want to save some money, just get the 2.16 GHZ. The speed difference in the processor won't be that noticeable and definitely not enough difference to pay $250 extra. That's twice the price of having Tiger now and upgrading later.
So, there's my opinion. You asked for it Hope it goes well. I was in the same predicament when ordering my new iMac & glad I just went ahead and bought it. I'll wait a few months after Leopard comes out to see reactions then decide when/whether to upgrade.

  • SD card won't import into Aperture, auto-ejects when trying to load preview

Tonight, after installing Leopard, I tried to import photos from an SD card through my SanDisk reader, just as I always have, and as soon as Aperture tries to display previews of what's on the card it causes the card/reader to auto-eject, and I get the message stating that the disk was not removed properly...
So, how do I get my images in Aperture now?

Yes.  The card mounts on the desktop.
There may be mixed formats on the card, not sure.
    Definitely 1080/24fps
    Maybe a few 1080/30fps.
If I use ClipWrap or Media Converter will the files remain at the same level of compression?
No loss of quality from original file?

  • Using Mac OS X Leopard

We got a new iMac, naturally with OS 10.5 for Intel. My qustion is how do you use Mac OS X Leopard ?
    1) Photoshop does not work.
Note: I mostly use ImageMagic as my photos (hobby/family) mostly need little correction, but once in a while you want to play with layers and selections!
    2)GIMPshop does not work
    Note: see 1.
3)Printing to OS X 10.3 shared printer does not work
Note: it works from 10.4 laptop and the command >cupsctl BrowseProtocols='"cups dnssd"'< does nothing to me.
    4)SogudiBeta does not work
Note: I know it works for some other people with my setup - but not for everyone and not for me.
    5) NeoOffice does not work
Note: I wanted to look at a file and grabbed PPC version from my laptop - it opens and stays at the Dock, but no windows/menues is shown. Is it so Rosetta supposed to work?
6)MatLab cannot find java, so the interface and debugging are broken. Graphics works, but X11 has to be freshly started along with MatLab.
Now, i am a power user, and I might solve at least some of this (and other) issues. But am I supposed to @#$% with or to use new computer? Now 10.5.4 looks more like a PublicBeta.
My problem is that before, I had only PPCs, so I have no suitable 10.4 disks to downgrade. Any thoughts?

    Thank you for the interest.
    1) I use (in 10.4) exaclty the one which does NOT work (in 10.5) - 7. At least I did not find a solution in google. I once solved the same problem with v6 (classic) which did not work in Classical environment of OS X. I found and removed accelerating plugins incompatible with Classics.
2)You see my needs - I am not a graphical designer! I just want to have convenient set of menus I am used to. So I want shop.app, and not just .app.
3)http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2275 - they know about it, but there solution does not work.
    4) it is a luck of an obvious functionality AND the drop of support to the Input Managers in 10.5 which drives me crazy.
5)When the same kind of problems appeared in OS9 -> OSX transition it was the extensions that were broken in Classics. Here I am confused as I do not understand what is broken under Rozetta and how to find it to disable.
6)There is only one thing you should know about MatLab - every next version cost to the user 1000$. Matlab R14 works, I know, but I have to use a remote license and update every 24 hours. But why should I break with my local R13 install I do not understand. I mean once again, like with Photoshop - I need a limited set of features, i could go for Octave (free) but it is again just to spend (=waste) time.
My point is, that the only added functionality is the video playback. It plainly works, and works better. The preserved functionality is Office (via Rosetta). The rest is either yet undeveloped or broken. Looks like we should first install Windows/Linux on a separate partition, then get used to it and then forget about OS X. One need no OS X to have Matlab/Firefox/GIMP.
The 10.5 box I got looked more like a web-enabled TVset and electronic typewriter. The other functionalities are to be built from scratch. Or downgrade to 10.4.

I agree that I should change the LAN domain from .local to something like .internal or whatever.   I've been running with .local for 5 years  on snow leopard server and never had any problems so that was a low priority.
I hope I'm just not seeing some obvious setting in main.cf

  • Airport Icon wont stay turned on..

    Hi Guys
For somereasom today, my Airport icon on the top right hand of my screen wont stay illuminated and thus, my internet connection keeps dying.
Its fine on my Macbook Pro but not on my Mac Pro desktop...?
At the moment there is just a blank icon with an explination mark on it - any ideas?
Thanx a lot in advance for your help
    Jozif

I seem to be having the same problem. We were in Mexico on vacation, and on the second day I was taking some photos near the water with some highways and some water splashed on the camera, but it seems to still be working for the next few hours. When I stop taking pictures and came back to the camera a few hours after, I tried turning it on and the set date and time settings screen was displayed. After I entered the settings, I was able to resume taking pictures. However, when I turned the camera off, then on again, that same screen displayed it again.
The next day, I went to turn on the camera, and the lands would not extend fully and will turn off main extension. When I held down the power button, it would retract back but not all the way. If I hit the playback button, I was only then able to fully close the lens. I'm thinking now in hindsight, I should have not tried to turn it on, and just put it in a bag of rice right away, but it's probably too late for that now, and since I'm thinking the water that got on it was salt water from the ocean, it might have corroded some terminals or some electronics inside, I'm not sure. But I don't think I want to pay $200 for Canon to just look at it, and then come back to me saying they can't fix the camera. The warranty has just run out, and I think I might be better off just buying a new camera.

  • How do i stop auto eject

How do I prevent my apple from auto ejecting a cd when prompted by a program. This happens when I am playing a game and after beating a certain level it asks me to insert a cinematics cd then the apple ejects the disc. In the game I am able to chose to cancel from watching the cinematic preview but the cd still ejects from the drive. Thanks.

If this happens only with this one game CD then contact the game's developers for help. It's not likely a Mac problem.
If this happens with all CDs then your optical drive may be defective. Contact AppleCare or your local Apple dealer.

  • I can't erase, reboot, repartition or instal mac os x leopard on my hard dr

I can't erase, reboot, repartition or instal mac os x leopard on my hard drive.
I tried installing windows xp using bootcamp. I think I accidently installed it on the same partition as leopard. I didnt complete the installation of windows xp. but leopard got deleted.
I tried to reinstall leopard. I wont let me do it cause my hard drive is partition't as a windows nt file system (NTFS). I cant repartition it either using disk utility cause for some reason its read only.
    Can someone help me.

    Do this:
    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Boot from your Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from theUtilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (only required for Intel Macs) then click on the OK button. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process will take 30 minutes to an hour or more depending upon the drive size.
Steps 4-6 are optional but should be used on a drive that has never been formatted before, if the format type is not Mac OS Extended, if the partition scheme has been changed, or if a different operating system (not OS X) has been installed on the drive.
Quit DU and return to the installer. Complete the Leopard installation. After you've installed Leopard you can use Boot Camp Assistant to create a Windows partition and install Windows.

  • Auto Eject of Install Disc

I was testing out my Mac OS X Leopard install disk (v 10.5 Family Pack) in anticipation of erasing and reformatting my hard drive. Once slotted in, the CD/DVD drive does all its usual noises but then automatically ejects the disk.
    I have a MacBook 2,1 - 2Ghz, 1GB RAM, running OS 10.5.8.
The disk image never shows up on my desktop display.
The Install DVD reads and works fine on my other computer (a Mac Mini).
Other DVDs read and work fine on the MacBook.
Any ideas as to why this particular (and rather vital!) disk isn't working and how I can get it to work?
    Thanks,
    JY

You probably should make a backup copy of that disc for safe keeping. Refer to this article for instructions: http://www.maclife.com/article/howtos/back_disc
