Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 Bootcamp help?

On my previous Mac, I was able to partition my harddrive and run Windows, including games and programs based exclusively for Windows.
I attempted to do that with my newer Mac (Late 2011 model), with OS X Lion installed (Windows XP), and I seem to have lost my disc to install the lion drivers on the Windows partition, meaning I can't get internet or use any programs.
Is there any way to order a replacement disc?
Thanks!

  • Upgrading to Mac OS X lion - problems having a bootcamp partition?

I was just wondering if i should delete my bootcamp partition running windows 7 before i install Mac OS X Lion?
Btw, the format of the partition is NTFS (if this is at all relavent).

No just leave it. It's unaffected by the lion update. if you edited your Bootcamp partition afterwards look at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4649
Do make sure that your Mac disk is error free (run disk utility) and that you have > 15gb free.

  • MAC OS-X Lion and Error 51 - More help needed

There has been a great thread on this that was previously marked answered and closed.  It refers to the a great article written by Anders Brownworth and includes a link to a tool to decrypt the "shared key" embedded in the PCF file sent by my company.
The decoder that Anders refers to will not properly decrypt the code from my PCF file and the client on my MAC responds with "The VPN Shared Secret is incorrect."
It looks like I am really close to making a connection, but I can't get past this error.
Is there no way to just import the PCF file into the MAC client?

    Hello Robert,
In Windows 7 you would need to use the Cisco IPsec client which operates the same way as it does in XP with regards to the pcf.  So I am not sure why you are having trouble with Win7, if you are still having trouble with Win7 using the Cisco IPsec client please start a new thread for that specific issue as it is separate and distinct from Mac OS X and using the Mac OS X built in client.
    Did you follow this guide:
    http://anders.com/guides/native-cisco-vpn-on-mac-os-x/
    Thanks tomas.truchly.
I have not heard of an issue with the Mac OS X Built-in client when properly configured and when the head-end has the security levels necessary.
Also, since this thread has been Answered, to help ensure you get the help you need it might be best to open a new thread.

  • Logic on Mac OS X Lion - dragging regions switches workspace - HELP!

Every attempt to drag audio regions towards the right of the screen is switching to a blank workspace when the dragging cursor touches the screen boundary. My operation thus fails (of course) and I have to go back to Logic by clicking the icon in the dock.
I have turned everything off in Mission Control - but there is nothing at all that implies you can turn off dragging to new workspaces at the screen boundaries. I don't even know what to call these workspaces now that "Spaces" doesn't exist. This curious rebrand as "Mission Control" leaves me wondering what exactly it is?
All I can do is describe the steps to replicate this:
    1. Open a Logic project with some audio regions in it
    2. Make sure the right hand panels are all closed.
    3. Drag a region right quite far - so your dragging hand cursor is against the window boundary
    4. Boom! After a couple of seconds of dragging, you're in a blank workspace.
Anyway, if anyone has any ideas, I'd be pleased to hear them as this is driving me NUTS - trying to make a record here and its happening far too often.

Actually, I've just discovered that you can stop this happening by going into fullscreen mode in Logic. Still, it would be nice to be able to stop it happening without fullscreen mode if anyone knows how to turn it off completely.

  • Mac OS X Lion Problems (Sound, Resolution, Missing Partition, and Crashes)

Ohia everybody! So recently I installed Mac OS X Lion (GM) on my Mac Mini. It's been installed for about 2 weeks, but I quickly noticed a couple of problems with it.
    Problem 1 - Screen Resolution:
When I had Snow Leopard installed and I held alt to switch into Windows, the menu that appeared to let you switch partitons resolution was correct. Now it seems to be 800x600. Same thing with the boot screen with the Apple logo. When the actual OS is booted up, the resolution is correct (1600x900). Why is it doing this with Lion and now when I had Snow Leopard?
    Problem 2 - Windows Partition:
Before I installed Lion, I had a Windows partition set up using BootCamp. I was able to see the Windows partition on my Macs desktop as well as my Mac partiton. Now it doesn't show up at all, and when I go to Disk Utility, it shows up as BOOTCAMP, and its greyed off. When I click on it and try to mount it, it just said that it couldn't be mounted. Nothing more. I can still boot into it just fine, but I can't view files, which is quite useful when transfering files between the operating systems.
    Problem 3 - Speakers Buzzing:
On Snow Leopard, when I went to play a sound, the speakers were completely quiet and the sound came out nicely. Now, the speakers will be quiet, and when I get a notification or something, the speakers will have a quiet buzzing sound and will continue buzzing for a few minutes after the sound is over. When I play another sound, they will start buzzing again. It never used to do this before Lion, so I'm sure its not the speakers. Hopefully someone has any info on this because I'm clueless.
    Problem 4 - Safari Crashes:
Last problem! Sometimes on Lion (not on Snow Leopard), if I leave Safari open for a little bit, it will randomly crash. It usually doesn't do it while I'm browsing, but if I'm uploading pictures or videos and I just leave it open, I will come back to my computer and it will say safari crashed.
    Note:
I always keep my computer up to date, and have googled all of these problems before with no help. Hopefully someone get help me fix any of these problems.

So I am not the only one with this issue. The sound of my imac g5 sounds buzzing as well. I am hoping for a fix from Apple soon.

  • Mac OS X Lion donesn't start after Windows 8 installing

I'm having some troubles booting from Mac OS X Lion after installing Windows 8 Release Preview on bootcamp partition.
    I've made these steps.
Install Windows 8 Consumer Preview using bootcamp
Upgrade Windows 8 Consumer Preview to Release Preview
Reboot the system and hold option key.
    On bootcamp select Machintosh HD
Mac OS X Lion doesn't start, or after a lot of time, it presents me the accounts screen but I cannot select anyone, trackpad or keyboard doesn't works!
I tried to boot from Recovery HD, but keyboard and trackpack doesn't work too.
I tried to boot from Snow Leopard installation CD, but it also doesn't work.
If I restart and boot in Windows 8, everything works fine!
    I have a Macbook Pro 15".
    Could someone helps me?

Take a look at the partitions on the drive.
    What is there?
When you do what you did it keeps 20GB Windows.old which you can delete after, and if the upgrade fails on Windows 8 CP you are left with Windows you had, and 20GB Windows.install temp file
So whatever you do using your method you needed to have 30GB of free space or more to perform the change.
And you should have a clone or backup of both that you can restore if needed.
Carbon Copy Cloner for instance to make an image of Lion and Lion Recovery.
WinClone 3.x to image Windows - though may not need to.
Windows Easy Transfer to make it quick and easy and act like it was an upgrade with all your settings (but not all programs and 3rd party).
Did you download the ISO also and burn to DVD? The download assistant for 8 will assist with that and then you can use Windows 8 DVD for system recovery.
Not a mind reader could know what the state of your system is now and if OS X is there or got clobbered.
Zap PRAM and try to boot from one of your DVD systems. (there are no CDs anymore they don't fit)

  • Hi Guys, I have a problem with Importing Pictures onto my Mac mini with Lion installed by using a Card Reader, What is the problem here so I can get Pictures onto my Computer. ,

    Hi Guys,
I have a problem with Importing Pictures onto my Mac mini with Lion installed by using a Card Reader,
What is the problem here so I can get Pictures onto my Computer. ,

    Hi Noob Søren
There are a few things that are confusing in your question.
As far as I know, you dont have to install Time Machine on this OS as it is already installed for you. You only need to connect a hard drive to your computer via firewire or usb, click on the Time Machine icon, Open Time Machine Preference in the drop down menu and select a disk: your connected hard drive.
You can of course reformat this connected device, partition it into a few volumes to organise data if you so wish.
I find it strange that your mac's hard drive is divided into two volumes... perhaps this was created through bootcamp?
You can access the configuration of your hd through Applications/Utilities/Disk Utilities.
Clicking on one of the icons on the right hand panel will bring the details of the contents of your hardDrive and volumes. From there you can decide to erase a partition, reformat etc....
If your hd contains more than one volume, and one of them is empty, you could decide to remove it. Back up all your important data before doing so.
    Hope this helps

  • Lion and snow leopard bootcamp, after installing lion snow leopard bootcamp with windows 7 does not boot

Just installed Lion OS  on my 2nd mac (on the 1st without an issue) but as I had a partition with windows 7 (installed with Snow Leopard bootcamp).
It seems that Lion OS renamed the Bootcamp partition but I am not able to rename it through OS.
Is there a solution for this or do I need to re-install?
    Many thanks for your help
    Rui

Hi Jack.........ok ive managed to create a link to that video on how to install bootcamp.....this is the tutorial i used and i managed to gain 100% completion on bootcamp 1st time no messing......like i said in my previous reply did you save the windows support files from apple....(Critical).....ok no point in messing about i suggest you start again from scratch........these are the things i used and YOU will need to complete bootcamp
mem stick or cd-r / dvd-r......original copy disc of win 7 ...i never used an iso i used original disc....allow a minimum of 30gb of space for your win 7 partition.....if you want bootcamp so you can use big programs like windows based games i.e.....Crysis/Call of duty etc etc ..then you will need to consider that  you will need to allow a bigger partition to allow your HD to store the files.....this is the reason i installed bootcamp and so i made my partition    i have a 750GB HD so i made a partition of 300gb for windows 7 and left the other 450gb for Mac....so you need to partition enough for what you want bootcamp for remember once you get bootcamp working you will need to install ALL Important Windows updates Including Win 7 SP1......once everything is installed you will have bootcamp up and running lovely.....u can then boot up with either win7 or mac......click this link and watch carefully and do exactly as shown ok and you should be fine...if you have any probs contact me again ok.....let me know how you get on ok..:)...http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=fvwp&v=QFIWtXTl4d0&NR=1

  • Mac OS X Lion &  windows 7

I heard from my friends that we can not run mac os x lion and widows 7 on macbook is it true??
i have currently installed 3 os in my macbook...
preinstalled mac os x which came when i bought macbook and i installed windows 7 and windows 8 ......

  • Can the new Macbook Air and Macbook Pro with retina display that run OS X Lion or Mountain Lion run Windows through bootcamp?

I was just wondering.. since the new macs have omitted the optical disk drives is it still possible to install windows on a mac running OSX Lion and Mountain Lion?

Yes. Read the Boot Camp Install instructions for the MacBook Air which also does not have an optical drive. Put Windows onto a thumb drive or external optical drive and make these bootable. Then follow the instructions for installation from the thumb drive or external optical drive.

  • VMWare Fusion version 3.1.3 compatible with MAC OS X Lion

Hi, does anybody know if VMWare Fusion version 3.1.3 is compatible with MAC OS X Lion? I need to emulate windows 7 on my mac. Thanks!

    Hi Andreas
Your message prompted me to have a quick check at my own VM network settings.  I've got a Win7 BootCamp partition based VM, and 2 Linux VM's running DocuWiki and Squiz.  On each of these I'm using bridged connections without issue.  After my initial problem with Fusion after my upgrade my VM network connections had changed to NAT.  All I had to do was change these back and specify Ethernet as the transport (I'm not one for using autodetect settings).
It may be that your DHCP server is needing a reboot.  I've got a Netgear router on my network here that acts as my DHCP source and I have on occasion had to restart that to kickstart IP address allocations again.  I would try putting your Linux VM back to bridged networking and setting a manual IP address from your main networks IP range.  If that gets you on to your main network, then I'd try a restart on the DHCP server.
