Mac OS X Lion seems to have reversed my default scrolling direction.

Just installed Lion, so far so good, except that scrolling has reversed directions - that is to say twin-finger scrolling in an upwards direction causes a downward scroll on the page and vice versa; twin-finger scrolling in an leftward direction causes a right-direction scroll on the page and vice versa. Lion has essentially 'reversed' my default scrolling rules.
Sys Pref does not seem to be able to change it back. Can anyone help?

Hello:
The answer you got from the previous poster is correct.  With OS X 10.7, Apple reversed the scroll direction.
I have been told (and it makes sense) this was done to make a Mac behave in the same way as an iPhone and iPad.  From here, that seems to be true.  I did find that one gets used to the reversed direction quite rapidly - especially if you have an iPad

I tried to upload my daughters videos she made on her iPod to my mac iPhoto and it seemed to have "Stuck" and now will not work at all.  It had to a complete fix of the existing library.  It will now not let me move pictures from the "Stream" to "photos", it looks like it is trying to but gets stuck and I have to force a shut down of the programe.
    Thanks!

Have you repaired permissions and restarted your computer after installing ML?  Checked your printer settings in System Preferences?
If Software Update does not list any updated drivers for your model printer, you should go to the printer's manufacturer website and download the drivers from there and/or contact their tech support to determine if your printer is compatible w/ML.
Read the various Knowledge Base ML printing articles.  Here are a few to get you started:
OS X Mountain Lion: If the software for your printer can’t be found
OS X Mountain Lion: Troubleshoot a USB printer
OS X Mountain Lion: Troubleshoot an AirPort printer
If none of the above work, post back w/the model of your printer and how it's connected to your computer.  USB?  Wireless?

  • Mountain Lion seems to have broken my multiple-monitor setup.

I have a 6-monitor setup, which has been working fine for the last 5 OSX updates... but now, three primary problerms:
    - one of the screens is half-dead. I can mouse to it and the curor appears and moves around, but the screen is otherwise black and nothing will appear on it. I can't even set a background on it.
    - my primary desktop space which is 2560x1600 keeps reverting to 1024x768 when I reboot which of course re-messes up the desktop layout.
    - in fact, all of the configuration changes with respect to displays get lost with reboot... resolution and screen locations with respect to each other... Agh.
I'm sincerely hoping many others are experiencing the same thing, so I'll know Apple is working on correcting the issue.
    .. anyone else?

Well, I'll reply to my own message in case anyone winds up here and wonders what to do.  Here's what I did... I reverted back to Lion, restored perfectly from Time Machine to where my machine was a few days ago and I'm back in business.
This is the first time ever I've had to revert a Mac OS upgrade, but the simple fact seems to be this is a bug and perhaps an update or two from now I'll try again... once someone else has confirmed multiple video cards are properly supported.
Needless to say, my machine is completely factory parts... the cards came purchased with the computer and I haven't modified anything.  None of this wrong driver, IRQ conflict, DMA channel issues and whatever else I thought I left behind when I switched from PC to Mac.
First time for everything, but perhaps Apple missed a QA cycle or two before pulling the trigger on this one.

In Console messages I was finding the following along with error -1708:
.sdef warning for argument 'FileType' of command 'save' in suite 'Standard Suite': 'saveable file format' is not a valid type name.
So, I thought I'd change the save line as follows:
save document 1 as "QuickTime movie" in thePath
While this didn't solve the problem, it threw an error and allowed the script to continue with the error dialog rather than hang.
Interestingly, though, the Snow Leopard machine seems to register the same error and yet still manages to save the file correctly.
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers,
    Anthony

Uninstall Parallels using the uninstaller that came with Parallels. Remove all third-party peripherals. Then restart the computer.

  • Lion seems to have added calendars I don't want

Since upgrading to Lion many things I don't like have happened. Wish I had not done so, except for the nice brushed aluminum log-in screen.
But in any case, a whole bunch of calendars have been added to my iCal that I do not want.  It doesn't seem I can delete them. This is looking more like a Microsoft product all the time, arrogantly acting as though it knows better than I do.

If you do not like the new appearance of Firefox 4 then you can change some setting to restore the Firefox 3 appearance.
To restore the old appearance right click the orange Firefox button to open the toolbar context menu or use (F10) View > Toolbars.
    * Click the Menu Bar entry and place a check-mark to make the Menu Bar visible all the time.
    * Click "Tabs on Top" to remove the check mark and place the Tab Bar at its original position just above the browser window.

I have a Mac Pro and seems like it has a malware, adware . How can i remove it. MACkeeper keeps on popping

You installed the "DownLite" trojan, perhaps under a different name. Remove it as follows.
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "VSearch" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.

Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
This trojan is distributed on illegal websites that traffic in pirated movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect much worse to happen in the future.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the DownLite developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.

  • Installing Dreamweaver CS6 on Lion seems to have broken video playback

Last night I was able to play the videos on the Adobe website (for example, CS6 & Creative Cloud Feature Tour for Web) on both Safari and Chrome. After downloading and installing Dreamweaver CS6, I can't play those videos. The page loads but the display box remains blacked out. I verified that I was still able to play the videos on another computer on the same LAN. I also confirmed that I can still play videos at YouTube. It just seems to be Adobe's website that's broken.
My computer is a Mac Pro running OS X Lion. I installed CS6 using an administrator account and rebooted after the install complete.
Anyone else run into a similar issue?

Thank you for trying the install. It may just be a coincidence that just before downloading Dreamweaver, I could view the videos and after installing, I couldn't. Those things happen, unfortunately.
I found some similar issues in other Adobe Forums. I went into the Flash settings, enabled the option for third parties to save Flash components and added tv.adobe.com and images.tv.adobe.com as trusted sites. Now I'm able to view the videos again.

  • HT201240 how do i remember my password for my mac at home i seem to have forgotton it.......

forgot my password for parential blocks now im bloked from view websites

If you scroll down the page you will see this:
Follow these steps to reset a password when there is only one administrator account on the computer, or if the original administrator account needs a password reset. "Original" administrator account refers to the one that was created immediately after installing Mac OS X. If the original administrator password is known, that administrator account may be used to reset the passwords of other administrator accounts using the steps described above. These steps require an optical drive; if your Mac does not have an optical drive and you have a Mac OS X v10.6 Install disc, see below.
Start up from a Mac OS X Install disc (one whose version is closest to the version of Mac OS X installed).  Usually, you can start from the disc by putting it in your computer, restarting, and holding the C key. Or, put it in the computer and click the Install or Restore icon you see in the disc's main window (after which the computer will start from the disc without you needing to hold C). Or, you can use Startup Manager or the Startup Disk preference pane to select the Install disc.
Choose a language, click the arrow button to continue,
Mac OS X v10.6 or later: Choose Password Reset from the Utilities menu.
Mac OS X v10.5 or v10.4: Choose Reset Password from the Utilities menu.
Mac OS X v10.3: Choose Reset Password from the Installer menu.
Tip: If you don't see this menu or menu choice, you're probably not started from the disc yet.
Note: The default keyboard layout is U.S. English while started from the installation disc. If you use a keyboard layout other than U.S English, use the Input menu (the flag icon on the right side of the menu bar) to select the desired layout before typing a new password.
Select your Mac OS X hard disk volume.
Select the user name of your original administrator account.
Important: Do not select "System Administrator (root)". This is actually the root user. You should not confuse it with a normal administrator account.
    Enter a new password.
    Click Save.
Click the red button in the upper left corner to quit the application.
Choose Quit Mac OS X Installer... from the Mac OS X Installer menu.
    Click Restart.
After following these steps, you'll want to also follow the steps in this article.

  • How would I re-install Mac OS X Lion, if I have to?

I thinking of upgrading from Snow to Lion, but before that I've a question.
If for any reason I need to re-install Lion OSX, would I need to install Snow Leapord first and then upgrade to Lion?
    Thanks.

    Thanks Thomas,
Does it download to any conspicous place on my hard drive or do I really have to dig it out?
What format does it download to e.g. iso file, dmg file (I really don't know the difference between them though)?
I went through some earlier discussions saying that there was some hidden file and need to find that and copy/paste it to external hard drive to avoid future double-installation process i.e. Snow first and then upgrading to Lion. Is there any step similar to this? If yes, then can you spell it out for me please?
Once I do manage to copy the download file to external HD, will future RE-installation of Lion avoid Snow re-installation step, and go on straight to re-installating Lion?
    Thanks once again.

  • Click wheel seems to have reversed and not working well?

My Ipod was near water and now it is working but it seems the click wheel function is almost reversed in the play/pause will skip to the next song and forward and rewind do not work at all.

What does being "near water" mean?  If it got wet, the water may be causing short circuits inside.  It would be best to leave the iPod in a warm dry place for a few days or a week, to allow the water to evaporate.  Using the iPod when there is moisture inside can cause damage.  After the water evaporates, it may work properly again.
If the iPod did not get wet, please post back with more info on how being "near water" is relevant to your question.

  • Can anyone advise me how I can disable Connection Logging in Mac mail please it seems to have been added when I changed my internet settings thanks very much

Can anybody advise me how I can disable "Connection Logging which has set itself up in Mail, when the settings were changed for internet connection I am running OSX mavericks  10.9.3 thanks very much

I certainaly did not turn connection logging on but the effect was disastrous.  Mail would not respond as long as there was a slow connection. I figured this out through turning off all network connections and watching Mail spring back to life and let me search my messages.
Normally if a connection is slow to respond, mail just lets the slow connection do it's thing while everything else operates largely unhindered. With connection logging turned on, your Mail app is a slave to the slowest connection to a mail server (I have 8 total)
I had to crash mail over and over again to do a simple search of my messages until I happen to notice that this connection logging was turned on.  I found this thread, turned it off, now Mail works as well as it ever has (very buggy but usable)
How dare Apple do that behind my back!?  After all the problems there are Mail, they have the gall to turn on logging and reduce Mail to unusable?
I also deleted all the logs for a good house keeping seal of approvable.  They were here:
Some day Apple might consider hiring a test team... instead of relying on all the users.

  • How do I get Mac Pro with Lion Server to restart at a set time when users are connected?

I have recently configured a Mac Pro with Lion Server, and have set it to restart automatically every morning at 3am. When I arrive in the morning, I notice that it has not rebooted, usually because it states there are users connected. Is there a way to automatically disconnect users so that the machine will reboot.  No one is ACTIVELY connected at this time of the morning, but may still be logged in somewhere. I did see where I can log out users after a set period of time when using Workgroup Manager to manage a computer or computer group, but I don't use the server to manage all of the computers that have users log in.
    Thanks!

Well, it doesn't necessarily have to be each and every night, but it was for the sole purpose of preventing sluggishness. We had it set up before, as Snow Leopard Server and it would restart every night. It would occasionally be slow and need rebooting, however a manual reboot was not possible by most people in the store as they did not have credentials to screen share and restart it - which would result in holding down the power button to shut it down.
The server is used for the sole purpose of logging in about 50 users just so they can customize their experience, as well as saving items to their own home folders.  The store is closed during the night, and there is no reason anyone would be accessing it during the night.
