  • MuVo Nomad(?) probl

Hello, I own a MuVo Nomad(?) 28MB MP3 player. Alot like this one --> http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006JHWQ/ref=nosim/02-0996-384052?n=72282
The problem I am having is that when I put a *fresh* battery into it, it does not turn on. And what worse is that even when I plugged it into 3 OTHER computers, it wasn't recognized AT ALL. This just happened one day and it upsets me. It was never dropped or otherwise molested. I am running XP and I'm sure all 3 other computers were too. I bought this player from a friend, so I don't have any warranty. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Not sure what the battery has to do with it. The Nomad has to be detached from the battery case to be able to plug into the computer.
Gi'ven that nothing else has worked I will give it another shot.
Well, that did not work either. The update failed on the same error.
    Rant:
The Zen Nano I got yesterday to replace this is hosed up. Lasted 45 minutes in the gym last night. It just automatically shut off. Now whenever I connect it to the computer it automatically comes up as a player recovery device. Tried the firmware update and reformatting the dri've. Then it just went into an endless reboot cycle. CL tech support said to return it. Back to the store for a new one.
My little Nomad lasted for years without so much as a flinch. It has been through hundreds of hours in the gym, several trips into the operating room and recovery, and countless hours of fishing on the ri'ver. It has been dropped and had a baby slobber on it. It always worked perfectly without question. My Nomad was nearly indestructable until it met a kid with a magnet. What happened to the quality of these devices?
That Zen Nano was made in China and could not make it through a single workout. The Nomad was assembled in Korea and lasted for years. I really wonder if that has something to do with it's
Oh well time to get off my rant and dri've back to the store.

  • Nomad Muvo TX 128 MB Firmware upgrade trou

Ok, for I can see the last version of the firmware for this player is the .4.02
    Here's the link:
    http://cl.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp?sOSName=Windows+XP&region=&Product_Na me=MuVo+TX&Product_ID=9672&modelnumber=&driverlang =034&OS=0&drivertype=0&Image4.x=29&Image4.y=8
I have tried to update the firmware with no succes, but I succesfully updated the firmware to an older version .0.05
Well my problem is that with the older version I just clicked twice and the upgrade started, but with version .4.02 I had to enter in the player recovery mode but I can't...
So, what can I do to update the player to the last firmware version?

Ok, after some troubles I could get the device updated... But now I only see 8 MB of the 24 I used to see on it...
How can I recover the lost space? Because 6 MB's it's a big amount of space unused...

Did you have the Mac before you bought the Muvo V 200? You should have read the box and listed requirements,if you bought this yourself. Below are the minumum requirements for the Muvo V 00 or 200.

  • MuVo TX FM memory prob

HELP! I just bought a Muvo 52mb TX FM. I converted my mp3's to WMA format to reduce the size so it can play more songs. When I tried to load 480mb worth of WMA music I was only able to move 228mb worth. Properties show I still have 267mb of free space but I get an error when adding even more file. Since then I loaded the lastest firmware and still no luck. Any suggestions?

Hi, Did you just transfer them straight in as files, not in folders or anything? - if it works in the same way as my Muvo N200, (from the product specs I think it does) there's a limit to how many files you put in the root directory like that. You have to put them in folders first and then transfer the folders onto the player as if they were files. This can either be done just by copy and paste of folders into your 'muvo tx fm media explorer' directory in 'my computer' (just like the media explorer window was for a floppy disc), or folders can be created in media source. There's a step by step explanation of how to do this (with pictures) here.
Folders are really useful for organization too, as you call name them things like 'rock' or 'classical' etc. and then sort your tracks, or give them album names!
Of course if you've already done this, or your muvo works differently to mine, this will be no use to you, but just in case...

everytime i connect my muvo tx fm to my computer, i always have to install the driver because my computer does not recognize my unit. do i need to update my driver so that i will install it once?

We've seen from some Nano Plus users that the latest version on new players has FM Recording back on again so we'll just have to wait for Creative to post a later version to the website. PB

  • MuVo TX FM radio prob

    Hi!
I have a muvo tx fm (256mb) player which was bought in France.
For a while the fm radio worked just fine. Then the player started to freeze if I try to tune to any station.
Out of approximately 0 attempts I can get the radio work only once. But even if it turns on I still can't tune to any frequency, the player just freezes again.
The only thing I can do after it freezes is to disconnect it from the battery and reconnect again.
I have the firmware version .00.04.
I tried the latest firmware .3.03 but with it the player stops responding right after I switch the radio on. So i downgraded back to the original firmware.
Anyway i still can't get the radio working.
    thnx and regards,

  • Muvo TX FM 512MB prob

I got a TX FM for Christmas and then a little over a week ago I couldn't get it to turn on. I didn't do anything to troubleshoot the problem for a couple days. Then I decided I had better take care of it, and sat down in front of my computer to try and find a solution. But before I started I tried to turn the Muvo on one last time, and low an behold, it worked, and continued to work for the next couple of days. Then I had the same problem again. This time I didn't wait and see if it would come on later and started looking for a solution on the Internet immediately. First I tried to format it, but that didn't work. Then I updated the firmware. It still wouldn't turn on. Finally I tried changing the battery, but I didn't think that would work because I was pretty sure the last time I had it on before it stopped working the battery meter showed that it still had half a charge. But to my surprise it did work, so I figured that I was mistaken about the battery meter. Earlier tonight I had been listing to it while I was working and turned it off for a second to talk to someone. When I tried to turn it back on it wouldn't respond. So I stuck it in my pocket, very frustrated, and wanting to get off work so I could come home and post this message and hope someone could help me. About fi've minutes latter I tried to turn it on again and it worked. Then I turned off and tried to turn it back on again, but it wouldn't come on. So I waited another fi've or so minuets and I was able to get it to come on again. But after turning it off again the problem returned. I went through this cycle one more time and then stopped trying. When I got home I couldn't get it to come on at all, So I tried formating it, but it still doesn't work. If someone knows how to fix this I would be very grateful.

All you can try is the standard recovery and update procedure. Try downloading the latest driver and firmware from the website. Install the driver file. After you have installed the driver, press and hold the PLAY button, continue holding the button while inserting the player into the USB port for about 0-5 sec. Run the firmware update file and check/tick the 'Format Data Area' check box and click on 'Start'.
If this doesn't help then you need to either return it where you bought it or contact Creative Support.

  • Nomad Zen Xtra prob

Well, I just emailed support again but overlooked the (faster?) forums until now. Maybe someone can help me out... ------- EMAIL SENT -------- Hi, I emailed the customer support a while ago and got a generic reply as how to reset my mp3 player's OS. *This is not a software problem, it is a hardware problem... I want to send my Nomad Zen Xtra in to Creative to get it fixed and I will pay for the repairs.* Here is an original copy of the message: Hello, about a year ago I purchased my Creative Nomad Zen Xtra. Only a couple months into using it, I dropped the MP3 player on the headphone jack where my headphones were plugged in and the sound stopped working correctly. I think maybe that the soldering that is keeping the headphone jack on the circuit board is messed up or disconnected. Some sound does come out of one earphone when I wiggle the plug around a bit. How much do you think this would cost me? The player is no longer under its one year warranty, either. Thanks in advance. - Steve ----- Originally answered by Technical Support, Creative Labs Americas ----- Thanks, Steve-oMessage Edited by Jeremy-CL on 0-2-2005 0:08 AM

<EM>I?ve posted it before, but here we go again</EM>:
Two or three months after buying my 40GB zen xtra, the same thing happened to me. I deduced it was a battery problem and prepared myself to expand U$29 on a new one (I li've in Rio and it would be impossible for me to send it back for warranty). While I was looking for the new battery, I kept using it in my job and at home, with the power cord hooked up. I did it some times and one day, without any apearent reason, it started to charge the battery and ever since it never happened again. I friend of mine mentioned that these Li-Ion batteries can have this kind of problem. By that time, he suggested some charging manouveres to recover it but it was no needed. What I suggest you is to keep trying to charge it. You may be as lucky as me!

  • Strange MuVo sq 5.0GB prob

My MuVo 2 5GB FM mp3 player has ceased to operate in what to me seems a very odd way. I'd like to see if anyone else has seen this particular malfunction.
After finishing listening to an audio book, I connected the player to my PC, navigated to the appropriate folder, deleted the book files (mp3), and downloaded some new audio files (wma this time) into the same folder. After the download was complete, I turned off the player and plugged it in to recharge. As usual, the battery state and external power icons flashed alternately, but after about 30 minutes, the display went blank. At that point I disconnected the transformer and hit to power button.
Now the strange part. The display came on showing the date and indicating a full charge, but in addition, one of the files that I had loaded earlier began to scroll, continuously, across the screen from right to left. And, both the power and menu buttons became inoperati've; that is, I could not access any of the menu options, nor could I turn the player off.
By removing and replacing the battery, I was able to access the recovery mode and move through the options. However, none of the options appeared to have any effect except the reboot. When I selected this, I was taken back to the scrolling display and the buttons once again became inoperati've. So, for now it's just a paperweight with a scrolling display.
Anyone have any ideas what has happened? Any ideas as to how to go about fixing it's I will contact Creative tech support and the reseller, but I don't know how successful I'll be in either getting it fixed or replaced.

I have the same problem. My MuVo^2 has also ceased to operate with this strange problem. It simply doesn't go anywhere once I put the battery on just the way you did. Is there any solution to this problem?

  • No support for Muvo NX 128 mb mp3 player data recove

I'm from Singapore, one of the reason I'm posting this on the forum is to seek help and broadcasting of my helpless situation I'm in, for awareness.
I have a Creative Muvo NX 28 mb mp3 player, own for more then three years, without giving me problems and works almost prefectly fine. Its a good piece of device I would recommend to friends who love music and work a the same time. The piece of device can store 28 mb of files. Of course you have 52mb anf g of muvo which are better compared to mine.
Until recently, the device failed on me and the windows OS was not responding to open my dri'ves whenever I insert the muvo device. After series of diagnosis, it was certify by me that its a hardward mare-function. But Amazingly it was still able to play music when in a mp3 player mode, but unable to read the flash dri've on a window base OS which I usually can.
For studing the problems, I have to go through salvation to open the player phyiscally.
Knowing that my warranty has long gone, I decided to recovery by myself and realise something the device is made up of two circuit boards. Its over technical to explain what I saw and to cut short, my data in the memory is not dmg and is believe it can be recoverable possibly!
I hope creative support would help me as the data are important, not music but work related files.
Unfortunately I approach the Asia Service Support, supposely to be the best but ended up wasn't successful to RESOLVE MY PROBLEM.
To make matter worst, the muvo NX 28mb player is not avaliable in the market easy and I have troubles getting the parts to fix the broken device
For the benefit of those who are using memory flash-base mp3 players, CREATIVE does not offer a DATA recovery service, even if it happens that you need to retrieve important data stored in those players which in case happens to fail on you!
In the end, this happens to me all the time in Singapore..i couldn't get a satisfying support from Creative... I have learned that Creative are not competent in supporting repairs or data recovery for older creative users like me..
I have sort out everything I could, and hope someone can help me out in getting those files back...

  • Muvo problem (128

I tried to update my Muvo with new firmware and I cannot get it to turn onnow , I plugged it into the USB port holding the run button down so I could reformat it but nothing opens. I open the reformat program but I can't highlight either mode. Also when the Muvo is plugged into the USB port and I go to my computer and look under removable storage the computer does not show the icon, I think all information on the device may have been lost, any suggesions, thanks.

  • Muvo v100 playlist/explorer prob

hello all, I've recently purchased a MuVo v00 MP3 player and am currently trying to add playlists to the device to get around the lack of preset playlists. My first problem is that I cannot open the player with media explorer! It doesnt seem to recognize the player. Any suggestions?

Your main problem seemed to be that you couldn't get it recognized by Media Explorer and my answer was to guide you on that problem. The strange thing about using the non-Admin accounts is that Windows and WMP see the player but only Creative apps don't. The only way to use playlists on the V00 is to create a folder for each playlist and put the songs in the folders. You can then use the Media Explorer Custom Sort function to put them in playlist order. On your last issue, there is a limit of 500 songs and 50-60 folders. On the older players this was a total but on the V00 these limits apply to each of the root, Lib A, B & C folders so you get a total of 2000 songs and 200-240 folders. Go into your player in Windows and move the tracks into less folders - put all the same album tracks into one folder under a Various artist folder. PBMessage Edited by PeeBee on 0-08-200709:0 PM
