Mac OS X Personal Website And DHCP

I have a wireless internet connection throughout my house, and I want to start my own website on my iMac using the Apache Webserver feature on Mac OS X. The only trouble I'm having is with the IP address. When I go to the settings panel for personal websharing, it tells me the IP address to access the website is 192.168.2.11, which is my LAN address. Others on the world wide web can't access the page. If I go to whatismyip.com and use that IP in the link to the webpage, it still doesn't work. Even if it did, I have DHCP, so the WAN IP is always changing. What do I do? Is there a way to have a domain name on the iMac?

You've got two internets: the one in your house, and the big global Internet. Bridging the two is what we call your router, but is more aptly described a gateway. Your first task is to get Internet traffic to your gateway.
You could obtain a static IP from your ISP, and get someone to provide DNS. Or you could use a service like dyndns.com. It's free. And you can have a dynamic IP address. You just have to have a name within their name space.
The second task is to move that traffic through the gateway to your Mac. You do this by forwarding port 80 to your Mac. Your routing device should have a control to do that. Just forward port 80 to port 80 on the IP address of your Mac.
That's pretty much it. It might be a good idea to use a static IP address within your LAN, so your web server doesn't shift addresses. You can still use DCHP with a static address.

10g Personal edition and DHCP

When installing the 10gR2 Personal edition of Oracle onto a machine with DHCP, does the need for a loopback adapter to fake a static IP address still apply ?
I can understand the need for a fixed IP address when installing the server edition (standard or enterprise), but does that also apply to personal edition ?
Given that the purpose of personal edition is to be installed on workstations, which will almost certainly use DHCP, this would mean everyone wanting to use personal would also need to setup a loopback adapter. Is this so, or does the need for a fixed IP address not apply to personal edition, as it is a single user edition that no one else can connect to ?

Bottom line is yes.... at least in my experience.
I've installed 10G(r1), 10GXpress, and 10Gr2 on a corporate laptop (tiny tablet PC actually) to try to get away from the MS Loopback adapter issue without any success.
I've found with each one I had to install or configure some loopback adapter and modify the configuration files to use it or I would simply run into the same problems with the IP address at bootup.
The problem seems to lie in the point of installation with the computer being connected to any network and looking for its own static IP address. This problem is a pain when you want the computer to either be mobile or use a DHCP hosted IP.
I have tested an proven the solution on over 150 deployed 10G family databases on a deployed farm of mobile computers, if you need any pointers....

Personal domain and regular .Mac site

I would like to create my own personal website (like usual on .Mac in my personal area) and then also post another domain I own to my .Mac area. How does it know which site to "publish" to? Or can you only have one website in iWeb '08?

If I put in myname.com without the www. it also comes up fine.
This isn't a .Mac problem. You need to go to the place where you have your name and make sure the www CNAME is set to web.mac.com, or forward the short version of your name to the www version.

If a phone is sold from one friend to another and wants to use it on a different carrier the friend can contact the carrier it was sold by to request it unlocked. I know AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint will give you the steps to unlock it as long as the original contract it was bought under has been completed. eBay/Craigslist is really not the best place to try to get "unlocked phones" from, if it turns out the phone isn't unlocked then I'm really sorry you got stuck with that one and as stevejobsfan said above I would report them immediately and see if you can recover your money. If you created it in Forms Central, you have to edit it there. I believe Forms Central is similar to LiveCycle Designer in that the form created is no longer able to be edited in Acrobat. I might be wrong, but that is my understanding. You add the submit button in Forms Central. Within Acrobat, you should be able to go to the forms menu and Manage Data to save the data to an Excel file. Others better with forms should be by to clarify things, but this should get you started. In the future you might find it better to post a forms question in the forms discussions.

If the Mac's firmware was updated, you can try this Internet Recovery:
Hold down Command + Option + R during restart or bootup; hold until you see a spinning globe (takes up to 10 minutes). Once in the Utilities window, use Disk utility to wipe the drive, then return to the window and choose to reinstall OS X. If that works, the OS will be installed without being tied to an Apple ID.
FWIW, if the firmware was updated, you will not be able to use the Snow leopard disk to install - I just did several tests and it does not work. You can, however, possibly install the SL onto an external drive and then clone it to the internal or (if you have a clone), boot from that and clone it back - I just tested that as well.
If the firmware was not updated, then you can use the SL install disk.

You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)

How to Publish to a personal domain AND .Mac?

I had a working iWeb site published to web.mac and it working fine. I added a new site in iWeb08 and set up a personal domain. When I selected the new site and published, BOTH my old site and the new one published to my personal domain. How do I tell iWeb08 to publish one site to a personal domain and another site to .Mac (.Me)?

This post is a little confusing. Do you have two sites hosted at MMe or not?
Do you mean that you used to host your business site and MMe and have now switched to uploading directly to your web host using ftp? If you have, then you can of course delete this site from your iDisk/MMe account, because if you have uploaded directly, then MMe has nothing to do with your domain name any more.
If you have not done this and you are hosting both your sites on your MMe account via either CNAME or web forwarding, then no, you can't delete that site because if you do, there is nowhere to forward to.
Password protection will not affect any other sites that you have. Just go into iWeb and set this up and then re-publish and it will just affect that site that you set it up for. Nothing else.

Certainly try dedicating a DHCP pool of one IP address to a MAC address, as was described in that video. I might go as far as dedicating that IP address to a MAC address that doesn't exist on the network, as the local servers and static-addressed devices are intentionally not dependent on any DHCP requests; they're entirely static-addressed.   I haven't tried this, as I don't use the particular configuration described in the video, as I prefer to avoid using the Airport or a Time Capsule as a firewall gateway router; I have and use and recommend a dedicated gateway firewall router. I also prefer to configure the Apple wireless devices as access points (what Apple refers to as bridge mode), and not as WiFi routers.
It is possible to run multiple DHCP servers for some cases — for reasons not germane to this discussion, I have three DHCP servers running on one network I deal with — so long as the DHCP server address pools don't overlap with each other or with the static addresses. Ugly, but possible.
If you can't run as an access point (bridged), then having DHCP relay in the device would be preferable. But AFAIK Apple's wireless devices don't support that operation.
My preference is a gateway-firewall device and preferably with VPN server capabilities, running Airport or Time Capsule devices as access points, and having the server or some other device running DHCP.
FWIW, that video somewhat conflates port forwarding and NAT.   NAT is the address translation. Port forwarding is how you configure remote requests through that address translation. Also adding the IP address of the DNS server into the box itself as is offered in that video will likely also trigger DNS timeouts when the non-local address is selected.   It did, last time I tested that. His description of setting up multiple local and remote DNS servers in the same list is also something I wouldn't recommend, as you don't want your DNS queries potentially going to the remote DNS servers as you won't get the local translations.
pfSense and various other open-source gateway-router software packages are available if you have some spare ARM or x86-class hardware with two network interface controllers, and there are also a number of commercial gateway-firewall product offerings with various features.   Since I'm potentially running remote access, having the VPN server in the gateway avoids most of the various "fun" that arises with NAT traversal in a VPN; VPNs and NAT run at cross-purposes.

I was just at the Genius Bar in Chicago and they said, don't worry about it. It just floats out there, however, I can not recover my messages on a flash drive.
