Mac OS X Server asks for SMB/CIFS Authentication

I don't know if this is a Tiger or Leopard Problem. When I try to connect to my server (2*2Ghz G5 10.5.latest) from my laptop (800 Mhz iBook 10.4.11) sometimes I
get a SMB/CIFS Authentication login window. I should get an AFS login window.
When I reboot the laptop it gives me the AFS login.
Any Clues?

Hi Jim,
I'd try this on the Laptop...
Finder>Go menu>Connect to Servers..., then type in like...
afp://ip.of.the.server
Once the globe mounts on the Desktop, drag it to the right side of the Dock for a quick Dynamic Mount when needed.

You won't be able to change your rescue email address until you can answer 2 of your questions, you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.

Try the advice here. I had the same problem and it worked for me.
You have to delete the "SC Info" folder from /Users/Shared. You will have to use Terminal to enable you to see this folder first. Make sure iTunes is not running when you delete the "SC Info" folder
There is an article from Apple on this here. The "SC Info" folder contains iTunes authorization information.
I did this two weeks ago and iTunes accepted by login. I haven't been asked for my AppleID or password since.

I have never set up any workgroup so if I click on cancel another window will apear in few second,
the same is if I insert any password I have ever use in my life.

Yosemite 10.10.2 server app. FTP help. I have a program running in my local server enviroment that wants to FTP to my mac folder. It asks for the server , name, password, port and path. what are they?

So I have set up a localhost area in my Mac. I have the new server.app and I am running yosemite 10.10.2 .

I am pretty certain that the Serveris "localhost",
Name is my macs name (like my-mac-min)
password is "my login password"
and they suggest port 21.
But what is the file path, lets just say my site is set up http://localhost/siteftp and is actually at my Users/Sites/siteftp folder.
Why cant this program connect to the mac.
Is it because they are both operating in the same localhost enviroment,
could it be my folder permissions are not correct on siteftp folder?

I tried turning the computer off and then back on. The alerts don't show the notice to update as resolved. Hopefully this is not a problem or an indicator or another problem. Should I ignore or reload 10.10.1 from the app store to trigger a resolved check in a green circle?
Interesting that I had to buy server software after my free Yosemite download. I would have hoped that the two pieces of software would have gone together without any complication. It is not positive to end up buying a problem. Ah well, time to move on.

Mac os x server support for iWeb

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows if there is any way to set up a Mac OS X server (10.5) to support iWeb created websites such that comments could be enabled much like they work with MobileMe?

Anyway, like I said, I'm not running Snow Leopard Server so I don't know if this has already been implemented and quick web searches for such do not bring anything up but it doesn't hurt to ask. If it hasn't I'd like to not only request some features in future versions but ALSO to inquire if there are others in the iWeb "Community" who would also like such features. The feature request link you provided is a black hole and doesn't really provide much feedback. Finally, someone might have a solution for including comment in iWeb created websites that I haven't already encountered or figured out on my own.

I have tried to re-instal Adobe reader on my Mac many times. Asks for my PW and gives my name. I just received a new PW with no success. I delete my name and put in my E-mail address. No help.

Cannot re-install Adobe reader. Says "Adobe reader wants to make changes" and gives my name not e-mail address then asks for a PW. I received a new PW and can sign into Adobe.com but am unable to install Adobe reader on my MAC.

2008 R2 server asking for activation again

One of my domain controllers is running Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter edition. It's been running for a couple of years just fine and suddenly it is now saying I need to activate. The time and date are correct and it does see the other domain controller.
I'm not aware of any changes to this machine for quite a while. I thought I read somewhere about a service causing this issue, but I can't seem to find that article now. There's nothing in the event viewer that indicates there's any problems. Anyone know why
it's suddenly asking for activation again? This is a volume license product. TIA.

Report Server asking for credential as home page

Hi,
I have a user that when she tries to logon to Report Manager the system asks for her credentials and then denies permission.
We have even tried enhancing her permissions to the same level as mine (full admin) , but it asks for her credentials and denies permission.
Can anybody help?

Based on my understanding, when a user access report manager, credential entry pops up and the user account doesn’t work, right?
In Reposting Service, RSWindowsNegotiate is added to the RSReportServer.config file by default. Negotiate specifies report server can either accept Kerberos or NTLM authentication tokens. In this scenario, the issue could be caused by Kerberos authentication.
If there is a mismatch between the destination specified in the token and the report server process configuration, the underlying Kerberos authentication scheme supported by Windows will prevent report server from authenticating the user. So please refer to
methods below to fix the issue:
• Remove RSWindowsNegotiate and ensure RSWindowsNTLM is specified in the Reporting Services configuration file (in SSRS 2012, this file locates at xx:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\ReportServer\rsreportserver.config).
• Change the report server service account to Network Service.
• Configure a specific hostheader for SSRS, configure your DNS server to understand that hostheader, and configure your domain controller to have an SPN for the hostheader and the report server service account.

Mac Mail no longer asks for a password when opening gmail

When I try and open my email account the password box no longer pops up.Don't know what happened.I use gmail and it always worked fine.Can anyone help me with this?Thank you very much.All reponses are apreciated.

In Mail Preferences, Accounts item: I tried to delete the password (but that did not save). I got this idea from some Mail Help item that I cannot seem to find again. I cannot recall how I did it in Snow Leopard, but I had it set to ask for a password that was used solely for Mail. It would not download anything until I entered that password. Note: I am not on a network; just the single user of the MacPro. Thank you for any guidance you might be able to offer.

Proxy Server asking for username and password almost 6 times for every page I load, but the same doesn't happen with other browsers like chrome

The same question keeps popping up again and again "The proxy moz-proxy://proxy.iitm.ac.in:3128 is requesting a username and password. The site says: "moz-proxy://proxy.iitm.ac.in:3128""
Even after i give the right details, it asks me like 5 more times before it completely loads the page. Some times it happens only 2 times.
With other browsers like chrome, it asks only in the beginning. it doesn't occur after that.
This started occurring only recently. i upgraded to firefox 9.0 and it functioned properly for more than 12 hours before it started occuring. i tried downgrading back to 8.0.1 but the problem still continued.

i'm afraid i need to use proxy settings to connect to internet. The settings are all fine because it used to work properly all this time. i specify the proxy address and the port, which is correct, i am very confident. it is so because the page actually loads on firefox, but not before it asks for my user name and password for it a lot of times, and for every page. for other browsers, it asks only in the beginning, that is, when i start the browser.
i've put three pics here. under the first two settings, the third image showing the user name and password thingy popping up. this happens a lot of times for every page.

Twonky server asking for serial to activate?

Just installed the Lenovo EMC Storage Manager w/ Twonky for my IX2-DL on my new Y50 computer. Twonky's asking me for a serial key. I have 4 IX2-DL units; Twonky installed fine on my desktop, but it's asking for a key on my new notebook. Any ideas?

It sounds like the free trial of Twonky ran out. You will need to purchase a license from Twonky. Or you can look into the cloud service on it. I does basically the same thing for free.

Set up: G5 dual processor tower w 2.5 GB sdram running OS 10.4.11
Connected to MacBookPro 2.4 GHz IntelCore 2 Duo w 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM running OS 10.5.4
via Airport.
MacBookPro does not show up on Network from G5.
But G5 tower is connected from MacBookPro.
An alias appears on Network list from G5 with the identity "Mac001B638898Ba8". When it is clicked on to connect a window appears asking to enter the workgroup or domain and user name (both filled in automatically) and a password.
No password I have ever used works when entered in the password box.
What is going on? There is no Win machine anywhere near here that I have knowledge of.

You did not uninstall the original version and there may be some reference to a DVD based installed stored somewhere. The so-called repair install doesn't work, anyway. uninstall first, then reinstall. You may also need to manually delete the caps.db in C:\Program Files (x86)\common fiels\Adobe\caps. Notee that due to a bug in CS3 you may need to run this twice, that is uninstall, delete the ccaps.db, reinstall, uninstall again without deleting the caps.db, then reinstall a 2nd time or else you may see licensing errors.
