Mac OS X Server Refuses to Authenticate One User for Contacts

I have a 10.8.5 Server which has suddenly decided to refuse to accept a password for one particular user, but only for Contacts and Calendars.
The user is a local, ID 502. Changing the password makes no difference. Mail and filesharing still works just fine.
Sometimes it reports a DAV error 1 in the log. This lead me to suspect it was an issue with Apache, though the web & wiki services are not configured but Profile Manager is. WebDAV does work to mount fileshares for this user though. Just CalDAV and CardDAV don't work any more.
Any ideas?

Hello CS Community: I am about to renew my CS cloud subscription for one year. My current subscription is for one user for both Mac (and) PC. When I renew, how do I know I'm getting a subscription for both my MAC and my PC? It's not clear what is included in the purchase. I'm choosing the 49.00 a month package. Any insight would be much appreciated.

    Hi ShearLine,
The Creative Cloud subscription is not OS specific as it's licensed via your Adobe ID.
You can purchase a single subscription and use it on 2 machines irrespective of it being Windows or Mac.

  • One user for multiple tablespaces

    Hello.
    Oracle 11g enterprise.
Whenever I setup a new tablespace on my server, I create a user for each tablespace on the server.
Is is possible to create only one user for all tablespaces on a server?
What is the easiest way to create this one user to have all roles and privileges across all tablespaces?
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I would seriously question a design with 'N' databases (whether they are on 1 or more or 'N' servers is not the issue) and DBLink from each of the databases to every other database.
Not only is it going to be hell to manage (how and when can you decide to shutdown a database for maintenance / patching / server/hardware maintenance when you have N-1 others connecting to it online), but it indicates a possibly high level of data duplication.
So we still revert to why you think you need that many databases and that many users and that many database links.
As has been pointed out, there is no relation between tablespaces and DBLinks. NONE whatsoever.
As for tablespaces and users, I can have
    a. One Tablespace and 10 database accounts with any 1 to 10 of the accounts storing data objects in the tablespace
    b. Ten Tablespaces and 1 database account storing data objects across all 10 tablespaces
    c. 100 database accounts but only 1 to N of them having any data objects, the others only doing SELECT/INSERT/UPDATE/DELETE on objects owned by 1 to N schemas. (This one schemas all being in 1 tablespace or M tablespaces).
There is no one-to-one correspondence between users and tablespaces necessary. Tablespaces are for logical grouping of data objects.
I keep referring to data objects as these (Tables, Indexes, LOBs, IOTs, Clusters etc) require storage. Objects like Sequences do not require separate tablepaces although they have persistent values. Objects like DBLinks and Views are only definitions and require no storage (other than in the data dictionary !). Objects like Procedures and Packages and Triggers are code objects and require no storage (other than in the data dictionary).
    So :
    1. Such a design needs to be questioned.
    2. Even if you need such a design, do not tie DBLinks to Tablespaces.
    3. Even if you need DBLinks, do not tie Users to Tablespaces.

  • Messages (Jabber) Refuses to Authenticate AD Users after 10.9.2/Server 3.0.3 update

Once again, an update appears to have broken Messages/Jabber's ability to authenticate AD users after the 10.9.2/Server 3.0.3 update even though it was working well before. Hoping someone here has some ideas for how to help!
I can log in just fine as a local user (e.g. [email protected]), but no luck with AD users (e.g. [email protected]). As always, it fails with no intelligible error message whatsoever:

I reset the jabber server configuration as described here to no avail: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5354428
    The DNS configuration looks good:
    changeip -checkhostname

    Current HostName    = comet.ADdomain.private
    DNS HostName        = comet.ADdomain.private
The names match. There is nothing to change.

I am not sure if it's attempting to authenticate to AD or not, and if so, why it might be failing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Also, while you're troubleshooting, I found Adium's debug window to be invaluble for showing errors during logon (even if you plan to use Messages).
You can open it in debug mode by holding option + click Adium.app, select "start in debug mode". Then in Adium menu > Debug window.

  • Siri refuses to call one of my contacts?

Not a service outage, but "Sorry, I can't make your phone call." Siri can call other contacts. Problem is completely repeatable. Used to be able to call contact through Siri.

I had a similar problem with Siri claiming that the individual who was clearly in the contacts list not being callable.
Fixed the problem by turning Siri off and then on again. That reloads the contacts to Siri and fixes the problem.

  • How to create one user for one workspace

    Hi experts,
I just wanted to know if anyone of you ever generated a user in a 11g database who only is able to see the content of one specifc workspace.
The workflow would be that an admin-like user generates a new workspace and after this he creates a new user who can only see/change the data in this workspace.
So when the new user is logging in, he is automatically in this new workspace and he has no priviliges to merge/create/rollback workspaces, or to change into another workspace.
Could anybody please give me a hint on how to achieve this?
    Regards,
    Jens

    Hi Jens,
Along with granting privileges on the specific tables, you would need to grant ACCESS_WORKSPACE using dbms_wm.grantWorkspacePriv on the specified workspace. Without granting any other privileges, the user would not be able to create additional child workspaces, or merge/rollback the workspace. Then, you would need to create a logon database trigger that places the user in the appropriate default workspace.
However, a user is always able to access the LIVE workspace. There currently isn't any way to prevent that.

  • Mailman on Mac OS X Server 10.3.9 Problems

We have a few mailing lists on our old PowerMac G4/Dual 450 machine. We have Mac OS X Server 10.3.9 on there and we are using Mailman for list management.
Mailman is not sending anything through the lists. I repaired permissions via the Apple repair permissions function of Disk Utility and since there is a bug in that process in relation to Mailman I ran the check_perm -f command from Terminal to fix them to what Mailman wants. That usually fixes most of the problems with the Mailman system. Also restarted the qrunner and for a time that fixed it. But that isn't fixing it now.
I know the OS is old and we plan to replace it with a brand new X-Serve with Mac OS X Server 10.5.x. But for now the older server still needs to do its' job.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ben

Yes and they show that the server received the message to the lists but I don't see anything being sent from the lists. I did a test message to one of our lists and got an error message back that said:

  • Mac OS X server 10.5.7 users cannot logon

Any help. I just installed Mac OS X Server and add added my users with logon details. I joined my MacBook Pro to the server using Directory Utilities and the Server is running well. I even have the users name displaying on the logon window. However, when I try to login the users, the window shakes indicating incorrect password. I have tried going over adding users, providing access rights etc. but with no success. I was successful in joining my daughter's Mac Mini to the server, but was not able to login using other users' details. Can anyone help.

My bet's on an incorrect home folder location.
First things first. Make sure that the Sharepoint for the home folders is set up correctly.
You can double check this as follows:
In server admin: Select the server name right below where it says "Available servers"
Click the file sharing tab at the top.
Click the SharePoints button and the Browse button
Click on your desired home folder location in the file browser.
Below the file browser, click on the share point tab.
Make sure "Enable Automount" is checked.
    Click the edit button.
Make sure the directory is /LDAPv3/127.0.0.1
Make sure the protocol is AFP
Make sure that Use for "User home folders" is selected.
Click okay and save your changes.
    Now to workgroup manager.
Select your user and click the "Home" button
Make sure that there's a home folder location selected. (ie the line is highlighted)
Click the edit button. (it looks like a pencil)
It's get a bit tricky here...
Mac OS X Server/Share Point URL:
It should look like this: afp://server.example.com/Users (assuming you're using the users folder)
    Path to Home Folder:
You should ONLY have the shortname of your user here.
    Full path:
It has to look like this: /Network/Servers/server.example.com/Users/shortname
Note that I've put server.example.com where you should have the domain name of your server, and shortname where you should have the actual shortname for your user.
    Clear as mud?
    Hope it helps.

  • One user has very slow network drives on terminal server.

    Hello,
I am using a windows XP machine to connect to a 2003 terminal server. I have one user that was complaining about how long it took her to open files from a network share. I found that this is a problem with her account as it is slow no matter where she logs
in from. E.G when I log in to the server from my computer as me, it is quite fast, if I do the same but log in as her it is painfully slow accessing the network drives.
Does anyone has any ideas?Kind regards,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
    Thank you for your comment.
The issue seems it’s related to network problem, please check the network connection behavior. Network performance issues can also be caused by auto-tuning, because not all network devices support auto-tuning well. So try to disable the autotunning behavior
with below mention command and check the result.
netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
In addition check KB 885189 for slowness mapped drive issue to Server 2003. Apart from this, check the below article to make the network connection fast.
    Windows 7 Network Slow
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks,

  • Mac os X Server Universal Binary install upgrade possible ?

Has anyone attempted the following upgrade pattern with the new mac pros with mac os X Universal Binary build ?
Take your PowerPC mac os X server build to an external hard drive (Carbon Copy clonning or via SuperDuper). Tie in the external hard drive to the Mac Pro . Upgrade the Mac os X server install via the DVD install for mac os X server coming with the mac pro . CCC it back to the mac pro ... watch the fireworks ?
I am still in waiting the machine but there are loads of data i would like to transfer from our my present mac os X server quad setup to the upcoming MacPro and doing this manipulation might make the transition soooo much easier than having to transport everything ...
I hope there are no other already started threads concerning this procedure but if such would be the case i apologize for the inconvinience caused and would be glad if reffering threads would be posted here ...
    G5 Quad 2.5 7TB xraid 16GB of ram.   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Mac os X server 10.4.7

From the looks of it the upgrade from Mac os X server PPC to Mac os X server Universal Binary is not possible from install disk .... i backed up a whole PPC drive loaded my Mac os X Server UB in the machine and booted off the CD on a MBP ... and the installer just wont take the PPC build as upgradable .. once again apple leaves us in the middle of the transition ... WHY ???? For those of us getting mac pros to run mac os x server applications this would be a great benefit to all parties involved and help solve the many dog heared problems we have faced all along in 10.4.
Edit: Same thing from a PPC standpoint a PPC build wont upgade to a Universal Binary build at all as it seems ... i am calling Apple support and hope to get further information to share ... wish me luck
I dare hope leopard behaves better than 10.4 has been especially on the server side which broke many functions that 10.3 got right pretty quickly and neatly .

  • How to divide Mac OS X Server for two users?

How can I make Mac OS X (Tiger) server to serve two separate users separately. What I mean is that server should have separate places for testing various stuff on it and room for presentations and such stuff. They should be separately so I wouldn't mess up something with presentation part. Should I create virtual disk or make some kind of dual boot for it and how should I do it. I hope the text is understandable.

It's not clear at all what you are trying to do.
Mac OS X Server is not designed to be used with
multiple logins at the computer itself, unlike OS X
"client" (the standard, non-server Mac OS X).
Why are you running OS X Server, it sounds like what
you want is regular Mac OS X (client, not server) and
    multiple local user accounts.
If you want the features that Mac OS X server
offers (file services with users & groups and
    granular permissions (via ACLs), centralized
authentication, NetBoot, etc. , then perhaps start by
    reading the documentation:
    http://www.apple.com/server/documentation/
I want to set up Debian Linux on My Mac OS X Server and make it into dual boot machine is it possible at all???I have made separate partitions for Mac OS X and Linux on the server.

  • One user cannot connect to safari.

Good morning. We have developed a strange new problem lately that I cannot solve. On our Mac mini running 10.5 we have one user setup for our kids, and one administrator. As of yesterday the kids' account cannot connect to the internet with Safari or Firefox, however, the administrator can. I have tried all the usual routines, trashing cashes/prefs, repairing permissions, etc. I tried this morning creating a guest account to see what happens, and the guest account can also connect to the internet with no problems!
The only thing that changed lately is my Mac Pro asked me to upgrade the airport utility and firmware, so I did.
Any ideas? This is very frustrating and confusing.
    Thanks

What type of account are they using, managed, standard, or administrator? If they are using a managed account, how are the parental controls set?

  • Adobe acrobat xi pro cc - more than one user?

Is it possible to download adobe acrobat xi pro cc to more than one computer? Can we have more than one  user for a single subscription? Thanks

    Thanks, Mylenium!
I don't think that changing the $HOME environment variable during install is very straight forward (unless you can override it in the install script, which is buried in the binary installation package).
But, you gave me an idea: I will just install Acrobat for everyone using another account.
    Thanks, Again!

  • Can one User in HTMLDB have Multiple Workspace

Can one User in HTMLDB have Multiple Workspace , If yes Can you suggest some document to check .
If No as well is it documented any where ?

Thanks Rosy But I created a User HTMLDB user1
Now I assigned this user1 to workspace names as workspace1
When I created another workspace named as workspace2 and if I assign user1 to workspace2 ,
    I don't see user1 in workspace1
So at a time I can see user1 in either workspace1 or workspace2 ( I am checking this from manage workspace screen )
Any Idea how can I assign single user in two workspaces .
When you say , admin account craetion with each workspace
This is even more simple if u see the ADMIN account created during workspace creation who have the one user for one workspace as well as lots of Workspace u are creating. Thus the Admin have multiple workspace access provision.
Each admin account is different & works independetly specific to that workspace , so I can have admin for workspace1 & admin for workspace2 both with their individual passwords ( Isn't this true )
