Mac OS X silent install?

Hello,
I want to deploy Flash Player 9 to 300 Macs (10.4) and
couldn't find any reference to a silent or pkg install. There's
plenty of useful information about MSI deployment but I haven't
found anything about Mac OS X.
Can anyone point me in the direction of any documentation I
may have missed or have any great ideas how this could work.
Thank you
Joe

I know nothing about Mac OS, but perhaps you can find some information in

We are planning to Silent print a PDF from a web page using Flex. We are targeting Windows and Mac with Arcobat reader installed. I have tried using the AIR appliaction and it worked, But our requirement is NO INSTALL to the user machine for the silent printing. It is just from web page and silent printing to the default printer to the desktop/Laptop. Can anyone share your thoughts and experience with us. It will be very helpful..
For AIR : I tried the thread Re: AIR and PDF showing/silent printing

    Hey CodeMonkey & Ross,
Did you either of you ever find a solution? I'm stuck too, it seems I can get remote printing on all these PDFs to work but it just prints a blank page since I've been using Javascript in the browser, not Adobe's (they are Engineering drawings that I do not have permission to edit so I can't just insert code into them but I need to make work instructions). I've been scouring the internet for hours now, it seems that this thread is the only relevant/useful one at this point. No one else was trying to achieve this for similar reasons to mine.
    Thanks guys,

  • PKG can't silent install on Mac Os 10.5

I have made an Installer by PackageMaler3.0.6 on Mac OS 10.8. Also I have add a JavaScript function in Distribution,This function use for detect the certain App is running or not. Some code like this:
    var allProcess = new Array();
    allProcess = system.applications.all();
    var allProcessCount = allProcess.length;
If I normally install (With Installer UI) this pkg on 10.8,10.7,10.5, it's Ok, all function works fine. If i use command line to silent install On 10.8,10.7 it's OK, no error. But if i silent install on 10.5.8, there will be an error in terminal(JavaScript error), can't install. If i remove the code of "var allProcessCount = allProcess.length;"  It can silent install on 10.5.8, once  if added the code like "allProcess.length" ,there will be an error,it looks like can't use the  array property in silent install on 10.5, but 10.7,10.8 it's OK and install with UI it's also Ok on 10.5. Did anyone knows how can i slove this issue? Thanks!!!

  • Adobe Reader Silent Install for Mac OS X

Is there a silent install package available for Mac OS X? The "enterprise" site seems to provide the same installer file as the normal site. We need to distribute Adobe Reader across ~600 machines, but the first time you open Reader it prompts users with a license agreement and then asks for administrative privileges. Even worse, it doesn't seem to install the Adobe Reader plugin until after that occurs.
Also, is it possible to get an installer package that leaves out AIR, Acrobat.com and Adobe Updater?

I know nothing about Mac OS, but perhaps you can find some information in

  • Silent Install for Mac

How can I do a silent install of PSE 8 for Mac?
It seems like all the pieces are there, but I keep getting End Adobe Setup.  Exit code: 7

For Enterprise customers, the preferable route is to contact Adobe directly for their is a specially designed team to handle Enterprise support cases.
May be the below link should help you:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/programs/enterprise/
To be very frank, it is not recommended to us to directly handle enterprise customers on 1-o-1 basis.
You are correct in understanding that the underlying installer technology/engine is same between PSE 8 Mac and CS4 applications, and your silent install command also looks ok, but without the log files, it is hard to comment on why installer is failing.
Can you contact Enterprise support directly to help in this regard, if nothing works out then we can use this platform as last resort. Sounds fine?

    Hello,
is it possible to silently install a CMMAC program that has been generated using the CMAPPUTIL program on osx?
if i deploy it, it always prompts for the user to install at a deadline or install now.
    Thanks

Yes, I know this is an old post, but I’m trying to clean them up. Did you solve this problem, if so what was the solution?
Since no one has answer this post, I recommend opening a support case with CSS as they can work with you to solve this problem.

  • Silent Install of Acrobat 9 Pro

I've seen a few questions about installing Acrobat 9 Pro silently on Mac OS X. Maybe someone's already dealt with this, but I thought it might be helpful. Installing Acrobat 9 Pro silently (and across multiple machines) is possible. I have not, however, figured out how to install Acrobat 9 updates silently (I could just be missing some documentation), so if anyone has any clues on this, please let me know.<br /><br />The key to installing Acrobat 9 Pro silently is licensing the application silently. This isn't documented (as far as I can tell), but you can use an application.xml.override file ( as outlined by the CS3 deployment docs: http://www.adobe.com/support/deployment/cs3_deployment.pdf ) to put in the license information. This file goes in "<path to Acrobat 9 Pro app>/Contents/Resources/AMT/".<br /><br />So here's a possible workflow for setting up a silent install:<br />1) package Acrobat 9 in a .pkg using Package Maker or a similar tool<br />2) create an application.xml.override file with the following text, replacing "YOUR KEY GOES HERE" with your key:<br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><br /><Configuration><br /><Payload><br />     <Data key="Serial" protected="0">YOUR KEY GOES HERE</Data><br />     <Data key="Registration">Suppress</Data><br />     <Data key="EULA">Suprress</Data><br />     <Data key="Updates">Suppress</Data><br /></Payload><br /></Configuration><br /><br />3) write a shell script that installs the .pkg via installer (installer -pkg "Acrobat 9 Pro.pkg" -target /) and copies the application.xml.override to the correct directory (cp application.xml.override "/Applications/Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro/Adobe Acrobat Pro.app/Contents/Resources/AMT/application.xml.override")<br />4) run the shell script with root privileges (via sudo) and you're done!<br /><br />Again, if anyone has clues on installing updates silently, please share.

It sounds like you are trying to use a retail serial as an enterprise serial and would like to bypass it's restrictions by deactivating it . . . I assume that's not possible, but perhaps I don't understand your issue.
I doubt you'll get a good answer on the forum. Try support, your sales rep, or a help link on the licensing web site (if there is one).

  • Silent install Air Runtime and Air App with custom installer?

I want to use a custom installer that will perform some actions, and then silently install air runtime and an air application. The goal here is to be able to perform a customized install for an Air application (for a user that might not have Air installed) without confusing the user with multiple install screens. Can I use a custom installer to silently install Air (if the user doesn't have it installed) and the Air app? If so, are there any restrictions on the custom installer? If there are any examples of this, please provide the links.

Since you applied for the distribution from Adobe you should
have received a link to a page where you can download what they
call the "side-car" installer. It's basically an installation
system they are making available to developers that can be easily
configured to deliver a bundled runtime and application
    installation for Mac and Windows.
Check your email again and see if you can't find a link in
there pointing you to a download page for the AIR runtime as well
as the aforementioned side-car installer. For those who don't know,
    here
is where you can apply for a redistribution permit for AIR.
I have a small tutorial posted that might be of help to you

  • Adobe Air message by silent installing

    Hi all,
i hope anybody can help me here.
I have create a silnet package of cs4. The silent installation is running well only this message apears a view times during the installation and i have allways to klick to "ok"
    Adobe AIR
This application requires Adobe AIR to function.
Please download the latest version of the runtime from http://www........ and so on
I just want to diabled all messages

For starters, there are a ton of variants of CS4. Be sure to specify which specific one you're trying to install. I can say that I've never seen that message when doing a CS4 silent install of the Design Standard or Premium for Mac.
For seconders, this is probably a better forum to address silent install issues in:

Choose your platform from there (looks like Mac?)
    Best of luck,

  • CS3 Silent Install

I am trying to setup network deployment of CS3 in our office. We are about 60 users and the longest part of setting up a new user is CS 3 Install. I want to get this automated so I can run it as a script with my netinstall.
I have read through the adobe documentaiton which seems to have all the info in it. I have gone through all the steps and have manged to get it to run the install but it alway s errors out with End Adobe Setup.  Exit code: 6. After that error then I am back to square one and every time I try rerun the install I get End Adobe Setup.  Exit code: 7
I have had a browse around the internet and it seem quite a common problem, but all the info I can find relates to windows installs. It seems there is not much diffrance between the windows and mac side in terms of commands to run so I have got as far as I can now.
I have noticed that when i run the install I the installer creates a folder in my /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Installers/ this folder is a seems to be a reandom genrated number and in it, it dumps a setup.app file and some subfolders. It then goes onto to create a folder called /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Installers/R1 which it seem to either move or compile the data from the first folder into.
When this is done the script errors out. I have noticed that setup.app does not show up it's icon correctly and will not run. It's like the file has erred in the copying process.
Has any one had any luck with setting this up and have any ideas on how to fix my issue.
    Thanks

TBH, the biggest problem you are going to face is not the initial installation but the running of all the software patches afterwards. With a disk image of the CS3 disks, install will complete in about 10-15 minutes. Upgrades OTOH may take up to an hour to complete (especially if you forget you're babysitting one) with numerous points where user intervention is required. Also, you need to run the upgrade check from within Adobe Acrobat or Acrobat won't get upgraded.
I had a long treatise on how to make a working CS3 silent install posted on here at one point, but it was apparently misplaced in the recent Forum Fiasco er, Upgrade... Luckily, I took a text clipping of it and saved it. Hopefully it is helpful...
BTW, another way to fix error code 7's... flush the contents of /Library/Applications Support/Adobe/Installers. I had a session in there that I apparently failed to delete correctly resulting in more error 7 misery.
Failing that, the only other way I have been successful in clearing inexplicable error 7's is to do an install using the GUI and then immediately uninstall, again using the GUI. Hopefully that will clear up any lingering weirdness.
And my final problem that caused the other 2-3 hours of failures? Somehow OS X had appended an invisible ".xml" to the end of my application.xml.override filename. (My own damn fault, didn't realize I hadn't disabled the damnable "hide extensions instead of deleting them" feature on this machine.)
FWIW, here's my full successful recipe (in my example I'm only installing IDCS3, btw):
    # Create a folder called CS3 Install at the top level of your startup drive.
    # Copy the entire "Applications" DVD into /CS3 Install/ -- it makes a folder called Adobe CS3 Design Premium with your installer goodies.
    # Create a file in called /CS3 Install/install-idcs3-only.xml duplicated from the template in /CS3\ Install/Adobe\ CS3\ Design\ Premium/deployment/install.xml . Customize as necessary for your particular needs--since I only want IDCS3, I deleted everything except the Creative Suite and InDesign payloads from the list of installables in here.
    # Create /CS3 Install/Adobe CS3 Design Premium/payloads/AdobeDesignSuitePremiumen_US_Volume/application.xml.override from the supplied template in the KB, normalizing all double-quotes, and inserting your serial number with no dashes.
    # Make sure ALL web browsers and IM clients have been quit.
    Finally, in Terminal, run:
    sudo /CS3\ Install/Adobe\ CS3\ Design\ Premium/Setup.app/Contents/MacOS/Setup --mode=silent --deploymentFile="/CS3 Install/install-idcs3-only.xml"
which should exit with Error code 0 (ie, Successful install).

  • Can't install updates due to how admin/silent install was built

We finally dabbled with doing a silent/admin install for our Photoshop CS6 rollout.  We thought everything worked great until we tried to do the check for updates from the menu, and it gave us a message saying that we couldn't.
I think what happened was when we built the admin/silent install, there was an option about updates.  What we wanted to avoid was having the users (who don't have permissions to install the updates) getting prompted that an update was available.  What I think we did was somehow made it so updates can't be downloaded/installed at all.
Is there a way to change the update behavior on each machine?  Or do we have to uninstall Photoshop, then build a new silent installer package with a different option and reinstall it?  I really hope there's a way to just change the setting somehow via the registry or a file.

Have you tried using the Creative Cloud Packager to edit your previous package? I've never tried it myself to see if it will give yoiu access to make changes.
If that option isn't available I believe there is a '.dat' file in the '/Library/Application Support/Adobe/AAMUpdaterInventory/1.0/' folder on Macs that I can delete to re-enable software updates (may be CC only though). I imagine there is a similar file on a PC that could be deleted or temporarily relocated or renamed to achieve the same result.

  • OS X - Silent install of 11.5 doesn't work...

I am trying to deploy 30+ installation of Adobe Flash 11.5 to OS X 10.6–10.8 clients. The first thing I did was download and read the Flash Player Administrative Guide for Flash Player 11.5 (via http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flashplayer/articles/flash_player_admin_guide.html). As it typical with Adobe "documentation", I knew this wasn't going to be pretty as soon as I got to the first line of copy under the header Silent installation of Flash Player, which says "Do the following to silently install Flash Player 11.3 on Mac". And of course, the instructions then go on to document how to silent install v11.3 on the Mac.
Unfortauntely, this "guide" is for v11.5 and 3rd step in the instructions, sudo ./Install Adobe Flash Player.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Flash Player Install Manager -install, no longer works because the file Adobe Flash Player Install Manager is no longer included in the package. Instead, it has been replaced with the file Install Adobe Flash Player. But, running the silent install command on this file is results in the GUI-based installer window opening on the client system and a manual interaction is then required to continue with the installer. So, I wouldn't really consider this a "silent" install...
Anyway, am I missing something here, or is this just another case of a poor Adobe installer combined with bad Adobe documentation?
    Thanks!
    Kristin.

I am having the exact same issue and am searching for a solution.  Any updates on this?
    Thanks,

  • CS2 silent install won't work

Excuse me for posting this again but I wanted more people to see it..
The issue is that my license for Creative Suite 2.0 is a volume licnese
which means I have one license number for the suite and cannot install
indiviudal programs using the individual msi. I have to us the setup.exe to
install the suite as a whole.
Adobe has a script on their website that they say you can use to install CS2
silently. They will not support it nor will they give any advice on how to
do a network install. They say use the script and that is all we can say.
I can not get the xml script to be based on to the msiexec. I keep getting
the default install screens (pick language, enter serial number, etc).
It seems the only way I can install this using app launcher is to use
snapshot or Adminstudio and do a repacking of the software. It is more
limiting but adobe licensing keeps me from using the individual msi.
    Does anyone see another solution?
I have pasted the xml script below to see if anyone can see a problem with
it and why it won't pass the info to the msiexec.exe.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
    <AdobeInstallerConfiguration version="1.0">

Funny how I can help you based on my experience. I believe you are using
the setup.exe in the root folder. You need to use the setup.exe in the
Createive Suite 2.0 folder. It has the CS leaf icon. Good luck. Let me
know if you have success with the silent install.
When I look at the log file it appears that the setup.exe is looking for
hardware/OS verification but doesn't find it. Yet eventaully it launches
the setup and then I can add all the info.
Do you have a volume license, corporate license, or what? My is a volume
    license.

  • CS4 Design Standard Silent Install does not work

I've concluded CS4 Design Standard silent install for Macs does not work correctly. I've got the program to install sucessfully with an Exit Code: 0 and the programs still do not work. The whole suite says the licensing has stopped working. I've tried the License Repair utility from Adobe, no go. It looks like the program does not fully install. I noticed within each application directory, it should have an Uninstall application when installed correctly. When this application isn't there, which occurs with silent installs, the whole suite doesn't work.
Its funny how Adobe wont help me with "enterprise installations". I haven't tried the Creative Suite Deployment Toolkit but I've read other threads where that doesn't work either.
If someone would like to prove me wrong about the silent installs for CS4, please do so. I've gotten CS3 to install perfectly, and the setup is very similar for both.

    Jimmy,
As one of the volunteer Forum Hosts, I've requested appropriate help.
You can also get help via the support portal: http://www.adobe.com/go/supportportal
Or via the phone: 800-642-3623, Monday-Friday 6am-5pm (Pacific time). BTW, the enterprise number you post isnt a valid number for support.
Your email address (from your account info) was used to log a CCRT to get Tier 2 to email you, given that you've already tried tier 1 with no solution.
Please post back and let us know how this works out for you. Thanks!
