Mac OS X Software on Windows Vista

Hey,
Im using Windows Vista and I wanted to know how to run OS X Software on my computer.
Im looking for allmost like "Bootcamp" but in reverse.
I also don't want to pay much for software, if it exists.
The reason I want this is because I just got a new iPhone and Allot of features of it requires you to have a Mac.
Example:
I want to make ringtones for my Cellphone, It wont work because the songs from the Canadian iTunes store cannot be made into ringtones. The only other way is GarageBand which will not run on Vista.
I also want to be able to create my own Apps for iPhone and iPod Touch, Once again you need a Mac to use the iPhone SDK software.
If you could also find out how to do these things without using a mac then I dont need software to run mac on my computer.
Thanks,
MrCocaCola

I wanted to know how to run OS X Software on my computer.
You can't, so don't even try. OS X and software written for it only runs on Apple hardware
I want to make ringtones for my Cellphone,
You don't need a Mac to make ringtones. Any sound file can be converted into the correct format.

Hi there @WRLM , welcome to the forums!
You would need to download and install the Full Feature driver for Windows Vista, in order to scan.
Here is the driver you will need: HP Full Feature Software and Drivers
I hope that helps, have a great day

  • Anti-Virus Software for Windows Vista Beta 2 Preview-

As many of you with MacBooks and MacBook Pros are already installing Windows Vista Beta 2, you may have forgotten about Anti-Virus/Internet Security software. Microsoft is offering Free Anti-Virus and Internet Security software from it's partners that work with Windows Vista. Here is the link: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/viruses/wsc/en-us/windowsvistabeta2.msp x
The Trend Micro looks a bit more promising, as it is their Internet Security Suite, and not just the Ant-Virus, as is from eTrust.

    Hi SkipHaughay,
As far as I know Parallels does not support Windows Vista at this time. Vista must be installed over Windows XP on Boot Camp. IF you do install through Boot Camp, I hear that everything works except for sound and wireless I believe. Hope this helps.

  • Error while installing itunes software on windows vista 32 bit operating system.

Hi friends,I am getting an itune installation error,Microsoft.VC80.CRT.version=8.0.50727.4053,The operating system in windows vista,i donwloaded itunes with IE as well as firefox, but always same error message is coming. Please help me out with this error.

I browsed this page earlier, and now im back to explain how i fixed my problem which is similar to yours.
All of the below must be followed manually: (that windows msgbox error is just confusing you) be reminded that:
%appdata% is not a network location. It is a systemwide variable used by Windows OS. %appdata% is a directory on your computer
I have win 7 OS, and i tweaked the below values so the Nokia_PC_Suite will install:
follow ALL of the following one by one:
    -----first, the package----
first, go to the file which you downloaded from the net, (usually: Nokia_PC_Suite_eng_web.exe) right click the file and click properties, then click the compatibility tab and tick "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" then (select your OS on drop down box) then also click the lowermost button, "Run this program as administrator" then click OK. and close the properties box.
----second, the registry----(carefull a little mistake will render your machine unusable, so don't mess inside registry)
enter your registry by >> Start > Run > "type" regedit (without the word type) expand the following:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders, (on the right pane) you will see AppData, double click AppData and change the value to: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming
do the above to below location also: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
    ----third, Windows environment variables----
in your windows, right click the "My Computer", then click "Properties" then click the Advanced tab, on the lowermost of the window click the button [Environment Variables], click edit and change the value of "Temp" to variable value: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming.
Now double click (re-install) the Nokia package which you have downloaded from Nokia website and i hope it will install flawlessly this time

  • MAC OS X LEOPARD/Bootcamp/Windows Vista

    Hello all,
Just was wondering some things about the title up there. In Leopard, will we be able to install another OS like vista via bootcamp without the full version of it (in other words with an upgrade version)? Something else I'd like to ask is what about Vista Ultimate, will it be compatible with the iMac...what I mean is, I hear most computers now a days are not compatible with ultimate therefore you have to buy a new darn computer just to run it. So just wondering, but to your knowledge, is it compatible? Also, when exactly is Leopard due out? Thank you for your time.

    Thanks for the reply Hermano
"I'm not sure how anything less than a full version would work. An upgrade version relies on upgrading something that already exists. In the case of Windows, at least on a Mac, there isn't anything to upgrade"
Well, all they ask for in the upgrade process is proof of you having a lower version of windows, which I have. But with bootcamp, there is no way to get the install disc out of the drive to put in the other disc to prove that I am legal as far as the upgrade is concerned.
"If you need to have the top of the line version of Vista, then perhaps you need a top of the line PC on which to run it. Why are you playing with a Mac, if Windows is what you want?"
I got a mac because I was tired of all the crap I had put up with on a pc for the last 20+ years. But I had to be honest with myself and admit that there are just certain things that cannot be done with a mac but they can be done on a pc. I'm not going to spend any more money on any pc's. I would just like to be able to run windows vista on my mac. Because the iMac has the new intel core 2 duo in them, vista should work fairly well in it. I hear that that is the only thing stopping me from running it on this pc of mine. The pentiums are not x64 bit.

I can't find my data file, in order to back it up.  After going to Documents - Palm One, the only thing that looks like a user name is a file with no data.  Somewhere there has to be another file with all my data, since data is available when I open the Palm One software on my computer.  After backing it up, I want to uninstall and reinstall the Palm One software.  I'm hoping this resolves my inabilty hot sync.  Thanks!  Lauraflavin.

  • Windows Vista & Mac OS X clock unsynchronization

Hello. I have a MacBook with Mac OS X Leopard and Windows Vista Business installed with Boot Camp. Everything works properly, but I've noticed something "curious" about the system clock. I have the clock correcty configured in both Mac OS and Windows (time zone, etc) and I've set the automatic synchronization on. However, each time I reboot to change OS, the time is out of phase exactly 1 hour respect the other OS. Of course, when the automatic synchronization launches, the clock is newly set to correct time, but since it launches only at an specific time of day, I've to correct the clock every time I reboot.
    Example:
Mac OS time -> 12:40 (correct)
    Reboot on Windows ...
    Windows time -> 13:40 (incorrect)
Set Windows time (manually or automatically) ...
    Windows time -> 12:40 (correct)
    Reboot on Mac OS ...
Mac OS time -> 11:40 (incorrect)
It's very frustrating. May you help me to fix this problem? Thank you very much.

I got around this issue by forcing OS X to resync its clock every minute by creating a custom daemon using Lingon (freeware app) that runs the command ntpdate -u. Just be sure you have a timeserver set on both OS X and Windows and you'll be fine. Windows is smart enough to do it on boot and the OS X daemon will take care of it on the other side.

  • Windows vista and labview 8.2

Has anyone tried LabVIEW8.2 and Daqmx with Windows vista? Are NI products(LV + DAQ drivers + Database connectivity toolkit) compatable with Win Vista?
Does the application developed in win vista work for winxp also?

    Hello, software engineer!
NI will release updated drivers and application software which will specifically say they are Windows Vista compatible. NI does not recommend installing your older drivers and software on Windows Vista as they were not designed with Vista in mind. • Cannot open iTunes 8 with Windows Vista Home Premium

Hopefully someone here can help me with my problem. I have a new Ipod Touch that needs itunes 8 to work. I have a new HP PC with Windows Vista Home Premium. The problem I'm having is: itunes & quicktime will download successfully onto my computer, but after download will not open. I receive the error message "itunes has stopped working...A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". I have tried to open them from desktop & from programs ...will not work. I was using itunes 7 with no problems, but after upgrade to the new version (itunes 8) I started having this problem. Here are a few of the things I have tried so far with help from just about every tech support I could find: uninstall & reinstall itunes (tried this several times..didn't help, but itunes installs successfully each time)...try installing quicktime & itunes separately (didn't help)..disable firewall & virus protection (didn't help)...turn off Data Execution Prevention (DEP) (didn't help)...tried saving software to discs & installing itunes that way (didn't help)...I have updated all of my software including windows vista...I've run virus checks...& pretty much run checks on anything else I could find. I occasionally get the same error message when I try to open Rhapsody, but not every time. I'm thinking of using my backup discs & restoring my computer to factory settings. To do that would be a last resort, but I am getting pretty close to desperate. Does anyone think restoring it would help? If anyone has any ideas for me to try I would really appreciate it. Thanks so much.

You need to to check to see if your Quicktime works normally. Itunes will not work if QUicktime doesn't.
If Quicktime doesn't work, describe what happens with any error message in full.
Go to your control panel and try to start QUicktime preferences. In XP you need to be in classic view to see it, I am not sure about Vista.
Give the full text of any error message.
Have you installed any of the following:
ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter, Mpcstar
If so uninstall them, they are bad news for Quicktime.
    Report back with your results.
If Quicktime is OK have you seen the Apple troubleshooting article for launch failure, I guess you have probably done quite a bit of it anyway, but is worth going through it systematically:

  • Windows Vista Ultimate on iMac 24" Experience

I wanted to share my experience installing Windows Vista Ultimate on my new iMac 24" with Bootcamp 1.2.
Background: My iMac is a 2.16 Dual Core with 1GB memory, 128MB of video memory, and bluetooth keyboard and mouse. It has the latest and greatest version of OS X and Bootcamp 1.2.
Experience: I installed bootcamp with no problems. I followed the setup wizard, creating the windows drive cd, and partitioned my hardrive with ease. I placed the Windows Vista Ultimate dvd in the drive and restarted my Mac. To my suprise, Windows Vista setup loaded recognizing the bluetooth keyboard/mouse and proceeded to install. The installation took about 15 mins.
Conclusion: I was quite impressed with Vista's speed. When I double clicked the applications they bursted open. The new Aero interface was incredible. The colors were vibrant and bright. I was expecting Vista to run dog slow with the hardware configuration but it was quite the opposite. The configuration was no problem for Vista. I know Vista has the ability to use unused ram dynamically for video so maybe that was it.
I know some people will get mad but I found myself switching back and forth looking at OS X and Vista. Reason is the speed was noticeably quicker in Vista. I did discover that Vista uses a "prefetch" technology which stores files of the recently used applications. It allows them to load commonly used applications faster.
Anyway, I thought I would share my experience. Best part was Bootcamp 1.2 and Vista Ultimate (30 days) are free. Back to OS X.

Compare the price of vista ultimate to tiger, and you might notice something...
Okay, maybe that version might be beautiful (the graphic art) but all clean and clear, it is still running on a failing foundation, aka windows platform.
I suppose I would share your opinion on speed when seeing it, but I want to mention that, when I experienced Windows XP with a previous bootcamp version, I also noticed that windows was verrry speedy. A friend of mine installed the same cd of xp on his computer with exactly the same config-specs as mine, only difference was: it was a non-apple machine and mine is (ofcourse).
Guess what we both experienced, there was no way that the speed was the same, although they both had same configs (and then I mean not only for ram, but every aspect). Don't ask me how that is possible (maybe that, for recognizing mouses and stuff the so called plug and play system of microsoft gets overwritten by the driver from mac you need to install to run windows on mac?) but I know it is just true.
To me that proves once again that mac is just way better. (and for your information, I've been working with windows for 8 years, until last year July, so I'm not just a un-XP'd anti-microsoft apple fan) but that anti-microsoft might in fact become true.
    And just a little Tiger tumb up;
Now ofcourse, can't blame you for that because on a desktop you won't see all of that, but have you seen what happens with your battery life of a macbook or macbook pro when running both xp or vista on it? **** man, I have 4 hours battery-life when running os X with "best performance" settings, airport and bluetooth out, mighty mouse with cord (ofcourse, the bluetooth is out), ethernet cable plugged-in, full brightness. When running XP, that changes to 2h 26min, same config. Now, there vista is heavier in a graphical way, you see the battery life under vista shrinking to 2h 01min...

  • Windows Vista Treo 755 Not HotSynching

I have followed all the HELP links and am totally frustrated.
I have had synch problems since I moved to Vista.
I can go into my computer one day and all my Palm info is gone!
The info remains on my phone, but won't synch to the PC.  I get the message
that the connection could not be made.  I have used all of my USB ports to see
if ANY will work...same error message. I hesitate to hard reset my phone, since that is
the ONLY information that I have.
Last time I took my phone to the Spirnt Store, they wiped out all  my info!
You all know how that feels.
I download updates as they are available, but as another poster said in another link,
the updates seem to be few and far between.
I am not computer/tech/savvy. But I can read simple directions. This is just ridiculous.
I have tried uninstalling the whole Palm Desktop from my computer to start from scratch, since there is no
information left on my computer, to no avail .
    OK, guys.....please help me.
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Sprint)

I just completed my first hotsync after having to re-install the software on my vista what feels like 40 times.....  I could not get it to sync period.  Stalled out at calendar.
Two days ago I had  to take my PC back to factory status because there had been an issue with it.  I believe it was a bug I was unable to remove and jacked up my system. I cleaned the registry but still didn't get this system back to normal.  Anyways, I have been unable to start my hotsync since the re-install / download from the Palm website.  Very frustrated and stumped.  I had also done several soft resets on the phone by removing the battery.....no help.  I had to use ctrl / alt / delete to get out of the stalled hotsync every time! This causes a crash in the hotsync manager software.
I know the disk that came with my phone states that it is incompatable with Vista, but I installed it anyways and after that, I right clicked on the list in my "all programs" click on  "Palm", right click on "HotSync Manager" and I chose "properties".
Next, I chose the "Compatability tab" and clicked on the box next to "run this program in compatability mode for (drop down box) Windows XP (Service Pack 2)".
Next, I went to www.palm.com/windowsvista site to download the hotsync manager software for Windows Vista. It installed over the program, and it automatically deleted what it didn't need.  I had to click that I knew an older version was detected.  I let it fully install.  I rebooted my PC.
Next, I started checking my old dates, in the Palm Treo 755p, and clicked on each one. Click on DETAILS for each entry. In my Treo's month of July there was a date that I clicked on, and clicked details, after the entry it had about 8 UUUUUUUU's after it.  I promptly deleted it and continued to check each calendar month in my phone.  This was the only entry messed up.
After this date was deleted, it performed the hotsync exactly how it should have, so there was some sort of corruption because of those UUUUUUUUUU's.  I wrote down the upcoming dates and times on paper before I tried to sync, just in case.  It ran the sync smoothly and now I am back in business.  Hope this helps.  Since software can malfunction in different ways, this may not be your issue, but it is worth looking at the scheduled dates to see if you find something similar.  Good luck!
