Mac OS X Technologies in Operating Systems Categories?
It would be great to have the Mac OS X Technologies Category linked inside the Mac OS X Leopard, Tiger, and Panther and earlier categories. This thread shows a classic example of why people are lost without such a link.

You can purchase and download Mountain Lion in the App Store (in your 'Applications' folder), then just run the installer: however you should first check that Mountain Lion can indeed run on your Mac. Please see this page:

In particular note that PPC applications such as AppleWorks will not run on Mountain Lion since Rosetta is not included and can't be added. -

I have installed OS X Lion from the App Store but after installing it when I open about this Mac it still shows the operating system as being 10.6.8 Any help would be appreciated
Did you actually install it? Note that downloading it is not the same as installing it. You have to let the installer run, and reboot, and finish the install. Did it do that? If so, did you get any error messages?

I need a driver for a Canon MP 450 all in one printer to be used with a Mac mini with the Yosemite operating system.
Canon does not have a driver. Third party providers drivers do not work with "Yosemite."

Photo Elements 12 editor shuts down when I select enhance>Photomerge>Panorama. I am using Mac Book Pro with Yosemite operating system. Otherwise, the program preforms properly. Any suggestions?

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. -

Just purchased a brand new mac and want to backup operating system to flash drive
Hey everyone, I just took the plunge and got my first mac! I am wanting to backup the operating system onto a flash drive before I really get into using the computer in case anything happens (I tend to have bad luck) anyone know how to do this on a new computer? I go to the app store and it shows I would need to purchase mountain lion to do it that way, and I don't see a way to do it from the system. Anybody know of a good way?
You will need a 32 GB flash drive to do this:
Clone Lion/Mountain Lion using Restore Option of Disk Utility
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu then press the Continue
button.
2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it
to the Destination entry field.
6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
the Source entry field.
7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the flash drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
Note that you don't need the backup because Mountain Lion can be reinstalled directly from the Internet using Internet Recovery.

I'll admit, I'm not good with computers but it seems that it should be simple to download illustrator without any problems. I don't know what operating system my mac is and apparently adobe doesn't have people to call for help so I'm trying to ask here.
Click on the Apple icon in the top left corner and choose "About this Mac" Doesn't change anything, though. Unless you update your OSX, the programs simply won't install. the warning really means what it says...

Is Elements 6 for Mac compatible with new Lion operating system?
I'm planning to buy a new iMac with OS X Lion. Will the Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac program that I am currently using be compatible with the Lion operating system?
Adobe's official response about any software and any major operating system update is that since the software wasn't tested on the new OS, they don't consider it compatible. Just as they never update the system requirements to show updated versions of the compatible OS. They just don't go there at all. If you called them they would say no, but not based on experience or experiment, merely on policy.
I don't think there's anything especially complicated--based on what I hear in real life, people who don't have Open in Rosetta turned on when they upgrade to lion are mostly okay, while there's no way to make it go if you did have it set for Rosetta. I would guess a new install would be fine, but I haven't had a chance to try it out myself yet. Scanning and such are likely to have problems, and of course older ppc plug-ins won't work anymore. -

Put Windows on its own drive and remove everything
the only purpose/use for BCA is to download the drivers you will want to have that get installed after Windows is running - it works without also.
So what I do is pull OS X drive, have Windows 8, data and backup drive, and clone Windows to #4th using Paragon (bootable) or slip ini an old Windows 7.
Yes can be 100% Windows, and you can have mulitple Windows boot drives, run VMs under Windows also. -
Mac formatted i pod - windows operating system
I just received a new ipod that my friend programmed with many tunes. When I tried to upload them - via the docking station - to my PC, the message told me the ipod was mac formatted and that I should reset to factory settings. Problem is that I lose all the songs!. Anyway around this??

Windows 2000Windows cannot natively recognize a Mac-formatted drive, including an iPod. You'd have to purchase third-party drivers, such as MacDrive, to get your Windows system to recognize your iPod.

I keep getting a message that a "script" is running on my computer. I am given the option of discontinuing it--which I do. It works briefly, then the "script" comes back, I get the message again, choose to discontinue it, etc. I cannot upgrade my browser, because I have the MAC OS 10.4.11 (tiger). It's from Apple (Mac OS X Leopard Upgrade DVD). I have never gone to an outside source for repair or software (outside of Microsoft Office which is no longer on my computer since I have had these issues). This is the first time I have required help since my Apple Care ran out.

I am trying to get support in CS4 Web Premium, but I could get any support from Adobe (there is no phone, e-mail or chat for this problem). And the support page is a loop to go nowhere.
I hope I will find my answer here, hopefully. Otherwise is better to star looking for answers in other places than in Adobe.

And I do understand what you are saying, but client support can be as simple as the ability to send a direct e-mail and receive a diret answer, even if is it "Is not possible".
From my own experience, small software companies can do it, and even open source software companies do it, with much less resources (probably they have a big will in provide a good service).
And for a big company can be as simples as 1-2 days testing, for main tasks and give some feedback to many, many users.
Unfortunately, some big companies like Adobe just don't care. Unfortunately. So I will start looking to companies o actually care.
But anyway, that's my decision.
