MAC OS X UNEXPECTEDLY QUIT - Keep getting random shut off's/Kernel Panic's

So i am in college and have the first generation of Intel iMac and it keeps on randomly getting the grey screen with the message that says "You need to Shut Down Your Computer" or something. I then shut it off and turn it back on and i get a message saying Your Computer restarted because Mac OS X unexpectedly quit. This has haooened at least ten times to me and its really inconvenient when it happens in the middle of a paper or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you need any more information or just post and ill respond ASAP. I copied the last crash log which I will post below. I recently got an El Gato EyeTV and it has been happening since that but i dont really feel like that should make it start going crazy.
Anyways, please respond, i really need to sort this out soon.
Thank you so much,
Hunter Nolan
(p.s. this crash log is a lot shorter than most the rest. I can dig them up if needed from my library.)

Virus no, but it malware ..
Download and run the adware removal tool here >   The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide
Easy, safe, and only takes a minute or two.
Make sure your OS X software is up to date.
Click the Apple  top left in your screen.
From the drop down menu click:   Software Update
Anti virus software is not necessary on a Mac. The pop ups are due to malware, not a virus. Do not click on advertisements in websites.

I am trying to reinstall OS X mavericks on my mac air... i keep getting a message that this option is temporarily unavailable... why?! help please!

How are you trying to install? Are you booted into in recovery mode, or trying to download from the app store?
Perhaps Apple's servers are not working correctly, or perhaps your internet connection isn't allowing the download etc.
Apple's servers had issues a few days ago, but I think it has improved now? When did you last try?

Trouble with slow Macbook Air. I have first generation MacBook Air and have a hard time keeping hard drive from being full. After trashing many docs, I have almost 5 gigs available, but mac is slow and I keep getting color wheel when I use Mail. I'd like to install Lion, but now I'm afraid it will slow down my machine even further. Do I have enough free hard disc space? Is Mail problem related to free hard disc space? Thanks for your help!

7gb of free disc space is required to install Lion.  Read this about how to free up disc space: http://pondini.org/OSX/DiskSpace.html.  Also, advice on how to speed up your mac: http://www.maclife.com/article/feature/25_ways_speed_your_mac

    Hi Jilvandy,
You're experiencing a *kernal panic*. This is commonly caused by two things:
    1. Faulty RAM
    2. Faulty Logic Board
Back up your data, and take it into an authorised apple service centre for further diagnosis.
    Hope that helps,
    Matt.
Ps: If i've been helpful, let me know by clicking "solved" next to my name in my post.
    Thank you.

    Hey p0507!
Here is an article that addresses your error message, and can help you troubleshoot this issue:
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Configure your security software
Check your security software and settings, which can block ports and prevent connection to Apple servers during update and restore.
    Common errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006, 9807, 9844. Sometimes as a result of this issue, a device might stop responding during the restore process.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,
    Braden

  • After restoring 120 Gig Ipod classic, Keep getting random Sync errors?

So, I was using a third party software called Media Monkey to tag some album art on my ipod. For whatever reason my the program kept closing out and crashing. Eventually it crashed so hard that it wiped my entire library of music. After some failed attempts to save my music by taking it off of the hidden ipod_Control folder, I gave up and restored it. After the restore, whenever I attempt to add music I keep getting random numbered sync errors (for example -50, -1303.-69,-53). This is only after I add about 3 or 4 gigs of space. (I tired re adding the music album by album and still have the same issue after only 2 gigs of space.) I  have NEVER had a problem with this ipod before, it's not even 4 months old yet so i'm not sure what is going on here. I have called apple three times (all i'm told is if I want actually help and not articles that i've already used, I have to pay.) I have tired making it a disk drive but itunes still treats my ipod like it's an ipod and not a disk drive. Any help would be REALLY nice. Thank you for reading! I've also restore my ipod multiple times as well.

Hopefully it is only a filesystem corrupted by conflicting Apps.
Try to fix the iPod filesystem, using  Properties->Tools->error checking.
    Then Restore the iPod.
if then doesn't work, do the iPod Disk Diagnostics, as posted by tt2, it wont fix your problem , but helps in troubleshooting.
    Good Luck!

  • Tiger unexpectedly quits and PB G4 shuts down.

Earlier today I shut the lid on my PB G4 12" and when I opened it again it had shut down. When I started it up and logged in, a message appeared telling me that Mac OS had unexpectedly quit and the laptop had switched itself off. Then I notice that all of my toolbar settings e.g. to show status of airport, displays, time etc. in the toolbar had changed. I restored them in system preferences one by one. Can anyone explain this behaviour and what, if anything, it is symptomatic of? I know it's a kernel panic or something but the fact that settings have changed worries me and thought I could get a quick answer here. Thanks.

Hi, bettina. Before replacing your clock battery, test it as described in this article:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=30017
This may confirm that it's bad, or may encourage you to focus on finding the problem elsewhere.
What suggests that the battery is bad is the fact that your clock is wrong at startup. If your Date & Time options include obtaining the correct time from a network time server and your computer is connected to the internet all the time, that explains why the clock is reset to the correct time very soon after starting up.

  • My mac book randomly shut off

I bought my mac book pro last december and everything goes well until last Tuesday. My mbp suddenly shut off by itslef when I was playing legaue of legend. This never happened before, and that was my first time. After that, my mbp keep shutting down randomly everytime when I played league of legend. Sometimes, it randomly shut off or restart by itself when I was watching a drama on an app called "pps", or even when I was maunally turned off the computer.. This problem really frustrated me becasue I spent like 3000+ dollars on this crap... I brought my mac to Apple Retail store and they told me that they have to replace a logic board in order to solve the problem. They also told me that the logic board will arrive in next 3 to 5 business days. I was like "okay". GUESS WHAT, I JUST CALLED THE APPLE STORE TODAY, AND THEY JUST TOLD ME THAT LOGIC BOARD WILL ARRIVE IN NEXT 6 TO 10 DAYS. WTH.. SERIOUSLY... so they just randomly delayed the date? Our coustomers spent so much money on support and buying iproducts...and... .. and .. sigh..
So i am wondering if there is any solution/ way to fix my computer, other than waiting so long to replace my logic board. Also, I am wondering if I can replace my mbp for a new one.. since my mac has such a bad technical flaw.

    No, there isn't.

  • IPhone 5 randomly shutting off and gets really really hot when it's charging

I have had my iPhone 5 for a month now and it started randomly shutting off and it would turn on by itself hours later. When I charge it, it gets incredibly hot... it's not normal should I go to the apple store about this issue? I am starting to get really scared about this... I don't know what it's causing it. How do I fix this? HELP!

Your phone is still under warranty, due to the battery service. Contact Apple and have them check the phone again.

I'm experiencing the same issue. It's one thing to have to re-power up but to not be able to do so without plugging in the charger when the battery is substantially full, is a real drag.
