Mac OS X Update can't be installed on this disk.

Hi there,
I keep getting the error when trying to update 10.6.6 from the original installation (10.6.6 was shipped with the mac on the install media) to 10.6.7 using either standalone or combo update.
The iMac is an iMac12,1 - iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011)
It is a fresh install but the 10.6.7 combo update shows the error in the screen grab. I don't want to go to 10.6.8 as this wreaks havoc with some software I have installed on the machines.
any help appreciated

Try to install 10.6.6 onto an empty volume on the same disk or an ext HD, migrate from the original on first boot, and then update it. If that works, then wipe the original and restore the new one.

If you have the Late 2012 Mac mini, it requires a special OS X update that it's not available. Wait until Apple releases this update

    Hello,
I am having some issues with Word for Mac (Microsoft Office 2011) and am trying to find update solutions (even though my software is up to date according to my iMac).
When I try and install the updates the error box reads: "A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume".
I have no idea what this means?!?!?!
I realise this is not a Word for Mac forum, but is anyone else experiencing issues of saving files to docx format?
This is why I am trying to install software updates.
If you can assist, I would greatly appreciate it.

If it's a new MacBook Pro (2012), you have to update in  > Software Update. They need a special version

  • The update "Mac OS X Update" can't be installed.

I get this message after it asks me to restart, and when the bar is moving it randomly stops and gives me this message:

The Installer could not validate the contents of the 'MacOSCUpd10.5.6' package. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance.
I'm running the update right through the software update screen. It's odd. I have just a two-week old MacBook Pro and can't figure out why I'm receiving this problem.

It's probably a corrupted update. It failed to validate. Nothing to do with your computer. One or more bits in the download are wrong.
I suggest using the download from the apple site:

Why should I have to spend money to solve this problem? Many others have the same concern, Airport Utility 6 does not support  older Airport Express units. This is Apple's problem. I've tried many solutions proposed on the net but none worked. I'm still trying for a work around.

    Any ideas or suggestions?
    Thanks

Well, I've tried your solution without luck.
So, I tried reinstalling OS X Mountain Lion (without formatting the HDD) and it worked! I did it like this:
    - Turned on my MBP while holding down Command-R to start OS X Recovery
    - Chose the option to reinstall OS X Mountain Lion
After a while, the system rebooted and OS X 10.8.2 was already installed. All my data remained on the HDD since I didn't format it before reinstalling OS X.
Hope it helps some of you with the same problem.

What version of AirPort Utility are you attempting to install, and which AirPort Base Station model do you have? Look on its case for a four digit model number preceded by the letter A.
