Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard V Windows OS!

Hi i am sick of windows, but as i only just got this pc through a rental agreement with a local retailer, and i cant change it and get a Mac. I was wondering if Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard is able to be installed on my pc? i have a Toshiba P300 PSPCCA 1tb hdd, 4 gb ram, 512mb ATI Radeon Mobility HD, Intel core 2 duo T9950, with Windows Vista as the current OS. Am i able to format my hdd and install Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard? or not? hope i can cos i really am sick of windows!

Since you can't change your hardware your only option is to get an alternative operating system for it. Mac OS X only runs on Apple hardware, but you could try one of the many Linux distributions out there if you don't want to use Windows. They're free and can be installed side by side with Windoze. Ubuntu would be a good start: http://www.ubuntu.com/

PS: I would not use a Win-PC anymore, even if I get payed for it...

That was my question, I recommend intalar MAC OS X 10.5 Leopard, but would have to format the MAC to have bluetooth, but I ended up installing snow leopard and windows 20011. I'll install Windows 2011 with the same key? Why does the snow leopard has not fixed the bluetooth?

  • Will Mac OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard work for a windows Computer....???

hi. i am wondering if i could buy MAC OSX 10.6 SNOW LEOPARD and put it into my windows Computer and erase windows and put MAC on it? i just bought an. HP Pavilion Slimline about 1-2 weeks ago. and it has. AMD Athlon II X2. With NVIDIA Graphics With Cuda.... Will it work??? please let em know....

Snow Leopard requires an Apple Macintosh with an Intel CPU. I doubt that even with extensive, license-breaking hacks you could get it to run on an AMD CPU.

  • I'm a college student taking a class in Operating Systems.  We are working on a project comparing Mac OS-X (Snow Leopard) and Windows 7.  Whatcan you guys tell me about the tech side of OS-X that makes it better then Win 7.  All input gratefully accepted.

What makes Snow Leopard better than Window 7 from a tech standpoint?  I'm writing a paper comparing the 2 OS's for a college class and I really need some help from the community.  Thank you all in advance for your help.

  • What are the minimum hardware requirements to install both MAC OS X Snow Leopard and Windows on a Mac

    Hi,
I want to install both MAC OS X Snow Leopard and WINDOWS on a same PC. Is it possible..then mention the minimum Hardware support to install both Operating Systems on a PC. I am waiting for relevant reply from Apple Support Team.
                                            Thank You.

I am waiting for relevant reply from Apple Support Team.
Then you'll be waiting a long time. This is a user to user support site hosted by Apple. The Apple Support Team doesn't respond to posts here.
For Snow Leopard, you need an Apple computer with an Intel processor of any flavor. Here are the specs from the Apple Store:
    System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
You'd have to contact Microsoft to find out what specs its OS requires, but I imagine the above would cover it.
Also note that Snow Leopard is only licensed to run on Apple branded equipment.

  • Snow Leopard and Windows 7 networking - Can't see in Finder

I have 6 Mac Pros all networked, and have just added 2 Windows 7 Ultimate computers. I have gone through the setup on all machines so that I SHOULD be able to see the Windows 7 machine in the finder, but I cannot. I have a folder on one of the Windows 7 machines that I have shared with "Everyone", but still no dice. I have a Windows XP machine that I hooked up and it shows up fine in the finder automatically. The Windows 7 machines however do not. Can anyone shed some light on what I might be missing? Thanks in advance.

I just bought the new macbook pro this Monday and I had to transfer huge amount of files from my Win7 laptop. I was able to share my Win7 c:/ d:/ and "User" drives on the sharing network. It's pretty easy if you follow this tutorial on youtube.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JSm0YflelJ4
    In summary
    On Win7:
    - join a Workgroup if you haven't; if you're already part of Homegroup, turn file sharing on
    - go to the files or drives you want to share with then right-click. Go to >share with >specific person>
    - Set up an account for "Guest", and add privileges
On Mac OSx (mine's Snow Leopard 10.6.6)
    - Go to finder, on the window type cmd+K or right-click to finder and click "Connect to Server" (both are the same)
    - type in smb://[pc name]/user
    - Connect
If you want to connect to other files or drives on Win7, just allow sharing with "Guest" by adding privileges, you do the same for Mac with Network Sharing.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can anyone please tell me which version of Photoshop Elements will download easily and run with mac 10.5.8 Snow Leopard?

I posted a question which was: Can anyone please tell me which version of Photoshop Elements will work with Mac 10.6.8 Snow Leopard.  Then this window popped up saying mark this discussion with as a question and this window.  I have no idea how this works. It already is a question and if I need to emphasize that, how does this window that looks like a Word editing window, help me do that?Downloading, Installing, Setting Up

You asked the question in the title area instead of the area where the body of your posting is intended to be.  No fault of yours - they need to make the form clearer.
Check the system requirements for the various versions of Photoshop Elements and see which suits your system.  Adobe only sells the most recent versions of their software, so if you need an older version you will need to find a vendor for it.

    Hi ,
I use to Mac OS X v10.5.8 but I want to update to my MacBook and I need to Mac OSX v10.6 snow leopard... ???

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Mac OS X Snow Leopard is not free. It can be purchased in a DVD at the Apple Online Store > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
Before upgrading, make a backup of your files onto an external drive with Time Machine. After upgrading, open  > Software Update to install Mac OS X 10.6.8, so you will be able to install iTunes 11.1.4.

    Hello,
First you must get 10.6, install it & update to 10.6.8 so you have the App Store to buy & download the huge 10.8 Installer.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
       * Mac computer with an Intel processor
        * 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)

  • I just upgraded my mac book pro to snow leopard, now my I photo library dissappeared

I am a novice in all things technical and I need some help figuring out my I photo library.  I bought my Mac Book Pro in 2009 and shared/transferred all information from my G5 (2004) to my laptop.  I Photo was also transferred and I have started to add more photos to this laptop.
I just upgraded my mac Book Pro to Snow Leopard and now when I open my Iphoto library it shows  some of the library but now all.  My husband said it is still there but the system is not able to look in the right place due to the sharing...so I am totaly confused?????
WHen I go to the Information it syas it is Where: /users/shared
Under sharing and permission it says: You have custom access
vivianlie read and Write (but this is in light gray)
    Everyone (also in light gray)
NOW: My old and faithful G5 all of a sudden is telling me this morning that in order to open I photo I
need to upgrade to work with this verion of I photo
Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of I photo after the upgrade.
    What should I do now?
Thanks so much for any tips and ideas...

On you MBP try the three fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - delete  the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #3
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
On your G5 make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and run the same 3 fixes.

  • Failed upgrade on snow leopard and windows 8 on bootcamp

I'm using macbook pro early 2011 and using snow leopard and windows 8 on bootcamp. After updating to the latest version of snow leopard, I upgraded to Mountain Lion. On the end of the installation, the installer/bootloader can't boot the mac OS or Win 8 bootcamp. I tried using option key only recovery partition can be boot. Also I've tried reinstall from command-R menu, but the installer can't find the mac partiotion.
I tried using disk utility from recovery menu but it says "invalid BS_jmpBoot in..." Verify or Repair has failed successfully. I think the partition information is mismatch or can't be read by bootloader.
I have put the problematic harddrive to external case, using it as external drive and put an unused harddrive and install snow leopard. When I plugged in the external drive the os won't load/mount the drive/partitions. I've tried it on linux, the mac partition can be mounted but the win 8 bootcamp still can't be access.
How can I recover the partiotion or data on the win 8 bootcamp partition? Thanks for the help.

Windows 8 is not supported in Boot Camp. To get back to a supported configuration, boot from your installation disc and partition the internal drive with the default choices (wiping all data on the drive.) Then restore the OS X startup volume from the last Time Machine snapshot or other backup you made before trying to upgrade. You should then be able to upgrade to 10.8. If you wish, run Boot Camp Assistant and create a Windows 7 (not 8) installation.

  • Snow Leopard - installing Windows XP

If I purchase a new mac book pro with snow leopard on it, can I install an older version of windows, xp. Someone told me OS10.6 will not support windows xp. My husband has a windows program and would like windows xp instead of vista or windows 7. Also will an older HP printer, 4050n, work with 10.6? Thanks for your help.

XP/SP2 will work fine. I can't make any guarantees on the printer, but if you have, or can get installation software for it, and it is not supported, then it is likely to work. When I say software, I mean the printer's driver.

    Uh uh, I see!
Also it seems I can use my time machine backup:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Migration_Assistant_(Apple)
together with Migration Assistant. This would work. Thanks
Now I need to figure out the Windows part. I need a full backup of Windows as well, with all the programs. In particular I need to be sure I can maintain the graphic card drivers.
You don't want to know how long took for me to find out how the **** I could update my graphic card drivers in Windows on my Macbook pro. Unfortunately there was a lot of misleading propaganda from Apple about bootcamp, saying that the new intel processor would have worked fine with Windows. Sad that everything was a lie. When installing Windows with bootcamp the graphic card program was unable to find and install the graphic card drivers update . Took me 2 weeks reading through thousands of angry posts of disappointed costumers to find out how to do that. I do not want to reapeat this dreadful experience.
After one year and a half with my Macbook pro I have a system I am TERRIFIED to touch. It is very very fragile, and any little change can destroy everything. It barely works. that's why I am so scared to re-install the OS
