  • Trying to get wireless

stupid question here, but i'm trying to get wireless with my mac, and don't know what card would be compatable.
i bought the machine back in 2002 when the digital connection became availble.
if someone could give me some info, i'd greatly appreciate it.
    thanks much.

Click on your Apple upper left and then about this Mac and then click more info and then choose Airport card and when this opens it will tell you the card type, either Airport or Aiport Extreme Card. And welcome to the discussions.

  • Upgrading Mac OS X version 10.5.8 to get to Mac OS X version 10.6.8

I have a MacBook Pro Intel Core Duo 2.4 Ghz, Mac OS X version 10.5.8 and I need to get to Mac OS X version 10.6.8 so that I can install iTunes 10.7 so that I can use my  iPhone 5 – does anybody know the easiest route to get there? Any risk of losing data on the way? Many thanks!

Get SL install disc from Apple's online store's telesales agents: 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753) or Customer Service and Sales Support at 1-800-676-2775. AFAIK, no data loss risk, since the installer just replaces OS components and basic Apple apps. However, when upgrading, it's always advisable to have a restorable backup. See these for details:

  • My old mac was stolen and i'm trying to get my website on my new macbookpro

My old mac was stolen and i bought a new macbook pro,
I'm trying to get my website on this new computer from godaddy.com.
I've tried using filezilla and downloaded the entire website file but havent managed to be able to open it up with iWeb yet. Anyone know how i can download my currently running website from the internet to continue working on it using iWeb with my new mac?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. If you don't have a backup copy of the Domain.sites2 file that iWeb uses to create the site you'll have to start over from scratch. However, Chapter 2.3 on the iWeb FAQ.org site has tips on using some of the existing image, audio and/or video files in the published site in the reconstruction of the site.

  • Installed a wireless canon Pixma MX432 printer back in November for use with my Mac Book Air. All was working normally until this past week when I began getting a message, "printer not connected." What is going on? Netgear Wireless N Router seems to be ok

My new canon Pixma MX432 printer is not printing. It was printing fine until about ten days ago. I use a Netgear Wireless N router, which is also new. What do I need to do. I get a message when trying to print that says "printer not connected." In addition, my old Gateway laptop will still print fine apparently because it has a cable connection to the printer. Puzzled!

Have you tried rebooting the router? I would unplug it, wait a few seconds, then plug it back in. Be sure you know the password etc. if that doesn't work, try unplugging and rebooting the printer. Good luck!

  • I Sorted but I am trying to get the correct Month to print

{noformat}I am creating a program that requires me to get the highest number and lowest number in a month.I have sorted the Array into a 1 dimesional Array of [12]. Here is my issue How do I get the Highest and lowes number reported while How can I get the correct Month to print? I keep getting Jan and Dec obviously since they are the first and last month.
I am not sure how to do a sort that will get me the proper month.
I am creating a program that requires me to chose the highest number and lowest number of the 12 months calculated. I created a seperate sorting array. Currently these number are in the indexed memory location. This Array of numbers is not Initialized! I am just showing what is currently in memory.
    double total [12]={114,93.10,89.30,92.90,98.40,111.00,102.40,105.40,81.40,82.60,80.90,113.40} .
    //intialized
    String[] months={"January","February", "May","June","July","August","September","October","November",
    "December"};
Here is my issue How do I get the Highest and lowest number printed that also corresponds with the correct month? I have a String of months. I just dont understand how I can do this. My highest numner is 114 which is January and my Lowest 80.89 is November. Is there another part of the swapping I am missing?
Here is my code. Thank you for your help. I am having issues getting proper code formatting.

That's all fine while you're just pulling in the values (I assume that each block of 12 is listed from January to December), but the second you do a sort, you lose the fact that '114.93', which is probably now in last place (being the highest) actually referred to the month of January.
First suggestion: break it up into methods (a couple of suggestions would be 'getAverages() and 'sort()', but I'm sure there's more).
Second suggestion: Have a look at the Java Collections framework (you might want to start here). It has a shed-load of classes for doing exactly what you want.

  • I have a Mac PC OSx, version 10.5 and cannot get Icloud even though I have downloaded all new software?     gh I have downloaded all available software.

I have a Mac PC, OS X, 10.5.8  Version but cannot download ICloud and I was led to believe this version supports it.  I have downloaded all available software.  Does anyone have suggestions?  Just realized I need later version - - 10.7.5 or later.  How do I go about upgrading this operatin system?

10.7 is no longer avaiable for immediate download. You need to purchase a download code, which will be delived by email in 1 to 3 business days. Using that code, you can download the software from the Mac App Store, and it will stay available for re-download from that Apple-ID.

To get the Mac App Store, you need to purchase a Snow Leopard 10.6 Installer/Utilities DVD. This physical DVD will be shipped to you by conventional means. The software can be Installed and re-installed from the DVD.

  • Trying to get wireless with tew-424ub on my iMac

I have an older iMac that is running 10.4. I went out and got a TrentNET tew-424ub because I was reading online that I could get it to work. Now, I installed it and the driver on this website (http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/21816) but still does not work. Is there something I am doing wrong? Do I need to do some sort of hardware scan or something? Has anyone gotten this to work? I would LOVE to give her this machine.
    Thanks so much!

Sorry, cannot help you with that particular wireless USB adapter. Generally speaking, a USB adapter is not going to work properly unless suitable Mac driver software is installed (and there have been many reports about difficulties). A working adapter driver stands the risk of being affected by a subsequent Mac OS update. So, with wireless USB, be prepared to experiment.
If the iMac model allows it, it is usually a better idea to install an AirPort (or, if applicable, AirPort Extreme) card.
A wireless Ethernet bridge can be a good alternative. Examples include Belkin F5D7330, D-Link DWL-G810 or DWL-G820, Linksys WET54G or WGA600N, and Netgear WGE111. A wireless Ethernet bridge connects to the Ethernet port of the computer. No drivers are normally required, and the unit can be used under almost any operating system. The bridge (sometimes called a gaming adapter) can also be used to make other Ethernet devices wireless. WPA security may or may not be supported for a certain model or a version of a model (a firmware update may be sufficient), so study the specifications before you buy.

  • Ipod touch trying to get wireless with dsl verizon

does anyone know how to get password or what password i would use to input into my ipod touch to access my dsl wireless router from verizon

Hey ronac75 on the router label there should be a WEP Key on your wireless router which is what you would as the password you have to enter it as exactly as seen on the router for Windows PC and OS 10 for MACs.

  • Trying to get wireless remote to work with Flash Presentation... HELP!!!

I know almost nothing about Flash or Powerpoint.  I was given a Flash presentation I need that I'd like to show at meetings using my new wireless remote, but I can't get it to move forward & backward between slides (works fine using arrow keys on the laptop keyboard - Windows XP Pro).  The remote works fine with Powerpoint presentations, so I know the remote is ok.  Is there some setting/command I need to allow my Flash presentation to work with my remote, or do I need a special remote?  I already talked to the remote tech support (Keyspan/TrippLite) and they were totally unfamiliar wirh Flash and simply said that their unit works with Powerpoint as advertised, which was true, but they couldn't help me with Flash presentations.  Can anyone out there help me??  Thanks very much!

Hi, and thanks so much for responding!  I have the Keyspan PR-EZ1 and I don't think it allows me to "map" keys since when I called their tech support, they didn't mention that as an option.  I'm really new at this, but I just noticed - as I was sitting right here on my browser earlier, I pressed the remote's slide-changing keys and my web page scrolled up and down!  Just now I tried it and my insertion point cursor moved up and down!  So I guess these buttons must be "mapped" to the up and down arrows.  How nice it would be if I could somehow figure out how to switch them to the left and right arrows.  A colleague of mine told me just an hour or so ago that when she bought her Logitech wireless remote, it had the same problem with Flash presentations.  But one day, out of the blue, it "fixed" itself and now does Flash fine.  (I didn't ask her if it still does Powerpoint though.)  She has no idea how or why and doesn't care.  Her remote is a discontinued model though (sigh).  Anyway, maybe it'll be worth my while to make another call to tech support and ask about key mapping.  Maybe a more advanced model might allow this function.  Thanks for the spark!

  • Hi I have a Canon D420 and I added it on my mac by windows configure but every time i print i get this Canon UFR ll Printer Driver error -50. What should I do?

I try to print but I get error -50. What should I do?

The Hardware Test detected a RAM problem.  Take out the chips and make certain that the connections are clean and reinstall them.  Make certain that they are well seated.
If the problem occurs again, test with one chip at a time.  Also swap bays if necessary.
Please indicate if you have installed new RAM and if so what brand and the specifications.
    Ciao.

  • Trying to get wireless internet to work, broadcom

I installed broadcom-wl via aur and everything in that sense worked. However now that I run iwconfig the wlan0 does not show up, I checked so that ssb and b43 is not running by doing lsmod however I also noticed also that lib80211 isn't in that list (if that could have something to do with it, dunno) whereas lib80211_crypt-tkip is. I'm sure the router is running and all as I'm currrently connected wired to it.

  • Is there a way I get can my Dell V305 printer to work with my Mac?

I "inherited" my son's Mac Book Pro but when I tried to hook it up to our printer, Dell V305, it wouldn't work.  I tried downloading the software from the Dell site, since we don't have the disks, but it wouldn't work.  Is there a way I can get our printer to work with the Mac?

I would start by contacting Dell's tech support to determine if the printer is compatible. They may then be able to suggest what printer driver to use on the Mac.
