MAC OS X YOSEMITE WON'T RECOGNIZE MY CANON IP90 PRINTER AFTER SUCCESSFUL INSTALLATION

I HAVE AN 8 YR OLD CANON IP90 PRINTER WHICH I HAVE SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED ON MAC BOOK PRO OSX YOSEMITE 10.10.2.
I'VE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO ADD THIS PRINTER BUT IT IS NEVER RECOGNIZED AND SO I'M UNABLE TO PRINT ANYTHING. CAN ANYONE GUIDE ME TO GET THIS SET UP AND PRINT?

  • Upgrade won't recognize the hard disk to begin the installation

Powerbook G4 w/ 9.2.2 & the original CD for OS X 10.1 - thought I'd get it on and upgrade from there since I know I'll need to buy more RAM - existing is 385 & I only have 10 G on the system. I downloaded several updates, ran the security update first. The 10.1.1 update won't recognize the hard disk to begin the installation.Thought I had a clue, but stuck in the jungle upgrading. Which one is which - is Jaguar 10.2??? Do I need to be doing each of these upgrades to get it running well until I add the RAM? I'm trying to stay calm since it updated my IE and I think I lost everything I had on it - too fast with the click and assumed they were separate entities....(unless there is a genius out there who can help on that front too)
    many thanks... Kate

Hi Kate! And Welcome To Discussions!
You're lucky Kappy is helping you out with this. He is one of the more knowledgable posters here!
I'm just adding some extra info.
There are two PowerBook models that need a Firmware Update, before you can install a newer OS X.
Check if one of them is yours.
Mac OS X Versions 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, and 10.4, are complete system upgrades that must be purchased.
The point upgrades, such as 10.1.x to 10.1.5 (Final) 10.2.x to 10.2.8 (Final), 10.3.x to 10.3.9 (Final), and 10.4.x to 10.4.6 (Pending), can be downloaded for free.
Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
Jaguar and Panther, are no longer available directly from the Apple Online Store, as Tiger 10.4.x is the most up to date OS.
Jaguar Full Retail Version CDs, a Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, or a Full Retail Version of the Tiger Install DVD, can be purchased rather inexpensively, at some online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, AppleRescue, etc.
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
Jaguar and Panther are only on CDs, not DVDs.
More info here Tip: Using OS X Install CDs/DVDs On Multiple Macs
Once Jaguar 10.2.x is installed, you can use the 10.2.8 combo update,
or if Panther 10.3.x is installed, you can use the 10.3.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the final edition of either OS.
If your Mac meets the System Requirements for Tiger, you could also consider installing that.
And then use the 10.4.6 Combo Update.
You'll find System Requirements in these links:
    Panther
    Tiger
    Additionally,
"Tiger ships on a DVD, but if your Mac doesn’t have a built-in DVD-ROM player, you’ll need CD media. When you buy Mac OS X Tiger, you qualify to purchase Tiger CDs for only $9.95."

  • Imovie HD with Leopard won't recognize my Canon ZR40

I have been making movies with imovie HD with Tiger for a long time. I have just now installed Leopard and 10.5.1. Tried to start a new imovie project and imovie won't recognize my canon zr40 which has been working with imovie fine until Leopard was installed. It says no camera attached when I hook it up and try to import. Any ideas? I know it's a Leopard problem since that;s the only thing that has changed in the last couple of years. Hope Apple fixes this because I'm dead in the water here.

Figured it out. From this link:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61603
I had an external HD attached by firewire on back of Mac and camera attached on front of mac and I guess this bus conflicts. Unplugged HD and camera recognition worked. I had this before a long time ago with an isight camera but not since then. Weird.

I updated to Photoshop CC 2014 and now it won't recognize my Canon Scanner LiDE 210.
Is there a fix for this? It worked with CS6 and CC just fine.

Did you turn off the "show transform controls" option in the move tool?
It sounds like you were using that previously.
And you can always transform by using the Free Transform command (command/control T).

  • My new MAC 10.10.3 will not recognize my Canon cameras or my Kodak camera.  Help from the Geek Squad was useless.

My iMAC 10.10.3 Yosemite will not recognize any of my two Canon cameras or my Kodak camera.  What's the solution?

Can you temporarily connect some other USB device to verify that your PowerBook's USB ports are in working order? Do you have another computer to which your camera can be connected to verify that a working USB connection is being made from the camera?
If we can somehow eliminate a hardware issue, then you can focus on software. Have you tried creating a new admin user account? If the new account recognizes your camera, it would narrow the problem down to something within your regular user account.

  • Mountain Lion Image Capture won't recognize my Canon MP600 Scanner

I'm not sure when it happened as I don't use my scanner all that much but at some point in the last month or so Image Capture can'is no longer able to see my scanner. It's a multi function Canon MP600 printer/scanner. I can still print but no go on scanning. I checked out the Canon site for drivers/updates but there are none. System Report sees the MP600 and like I said, I can print just not scan. I'm running 10.8.2.
Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated.
    Joe

This might have been my fix, too. I did as this instructed; however, after installing v.2.11 from Apple's site and deleting the printer, then adding it back again (I also unplugged and replugged the printer), nothing changed.
I then did as "noseyp" below suggested and at the Canon site added the scanner driver for Mac OS 10.7. That process (after I bypassed my security roadblock), required a computer restart.
So was is it v.2.11 installation (plus the restart) that made the difference? Or was it the 10.7 scanner driver? I won't know.
I'd suggest to anyone to do as "legendarybc" suggested, but then do restart your computer. If that doesn't work, then add the 10.7 scanner driver from:

  • FCX won't recognize attached Canon GL2 while FW800 HDD is connected

Heres the problem. I have a Lacie external HDD attached to my PowerBook G4 via Firewire 800 when I connect my Canon GL2 to the Firewire 400 port either on the Lacie HDD or PowerBook and start FCX FCX will not recognize the Canon GL2 as being attached.
I want to be able to capture video to the external HDD instead of my internal HDD due to space issues.
Also when I disconnect the etxernal HDD FCX recognizes the Canon GL2 immediately.
Why doesn't FCX see the Canon GL2 when the external HDD is connected?
    I am running 10.4.9 with FCX 3.0.
    PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.9)

LaCie does not support the use of their drives with Canon cameras as long as they are both on the same bus because of the FireWire protocol used by that manufacturer. Macs only have one FireWire bus, though they may have multiple ports. Using your PowerBook you can add a second FireWire bus putting on into to your cardbus slot. This will give you two separate buses and the computer will be able to address the devices separately.

  • Mac OS X v 10.6.7 and Canon MP560 printer

    Hi,
I just bought a brand new iMac and cannot for the life of me connect it to my Canon MP560 printer, I have installed pretty much all of the drivers on the canon support site but I have no idea how to get it working!

Well that certainly is the correct path to the networked printer. So with this queue not printing then this is a concern.
There are several things I suggest you do if you haven't already.
    1. Turn off the power to the MP560 and unplug the power cord for 1 minute. Then reconnect the power cord and turn it back on again.
    2. Open Print & Fax and delete the MP560 network printer. Highlight the printer in the list and then press the minus button to remove it.
    3. With Print & Fax still open, move the mouse to the printer list and Control-click. Click the menu Reset printing system. This will delete all printers and scanners in Print & Fax, so if you have other printers or scanners that are still working fine then you may not want to perform this step.
    4. Restart the Mac
    5. With the Mac restarted and connected to your wireless network, open Print & Fax and click the + button to add a printer. With the Default view displayed the MP560 should be seen - once as a scanner (showing Bonjour Scanner in the Kind column) and after a few seconds it will also show as a printer (showing canonijnetwork in the Kind column). Select the printer entry and ensure the Print Using menu changes to Canon MP560 series. Click Add to complete the print queue creation.
    6. Try to print to this newly created queue.
    7. Cross your fingers
    8. Scream for joy when the printer starts to print or curse and reply to me when it doesn't....

  • Yosemite won't recognize Windows 8 OEM disc

I have a fully legal, purchased from the store, with code, Windows 8 OEM disc. Yosemite absolutely refuses to believe it's real. I put it in the disc drive and it asked me what to do with this blank DVD, this was after I booted into the Bootcamp install and it kept asking me to put in a valid boot disc and press any key. What's going on with this? Why would a legit disc not work. I keep reading about ISOs, but I can't even make one of those if the system doesn't recognize the disc. Any ideas? Thanks!

    OEM disks can cause problems.

  • Power Mac G5 1.8GHz won't recognize discs

After nine years, I shelved my workhorse G5 (single processer, 1.8GHz, 4GB RAM, 2x1TB internal drives, eSATA and extra ethernet PCI cards, OS X Server 10.4.11) not becuase it wasn't working well--it was--but because the not-for-profit I work with switched to a cloud-based solution, which makes a huge amount of sense.
After watching it sit in the corner for a month, I decided to put it up on Ebay. And of course, didn't think to test it until it was already posted. I mean, come on! It worked fine last month, right?
    Oops.
It starts up. The monitor goes grey, and then I get the flashing question mark. (Occasionally I get a circle with a line through it, which is new to me.)
It doesn't recognize the internal system drive. It doesn't recognize an external mirrored drive, whether connected to FW400, FW800 or eSATA. It doesn't recognize ANY INSTALL DISK in the optical drive. The question mark flashes on. When I hold down the option key at startup, the wheel spins merrily for a while, then stops, showing just the right arrow and the reload arrow.
It DOES start in target mode; I can boot another computer off of the internal system drive (or the backup, for that matter). So the drives are fine.
Here're the things I've done, in no particular order:
I zapped the PRAM. (Haven't replaced the battery--3.6 volt half-AAs aren't easy to find!)
    I reset the PMU.
I tried to enter safe mode by holding down the shift key. Nope.
    I tried--mostly unsuccessfully--to enter single user mode.
I managed (after much trying) to get into single user mode, and zapped the NVRAM. Should have checked the disks before rebooting, because I haven't been able to get back into single user mode again.
I took out/moved around the PCI cards.
I took out/moved around the eight DIMMs.
I emptied everything out and cleaned it as much as I could.
I moved the system drive to the other bay.
I removed the system drive and tried to boot from the external and the DVD.
    Nothing has worked.
My fear is that the computer has, in the last month, suffered a failure of either the video card or (shudder) the logic board. Or maybe the firmware has gotten corrupted somehow, since the startup sequence seems to be weird. If it's that, however, I can't figure out how to reset it, since I can't seem to get the computer to start in single user mode.
    HELP!

Half height AA PRAM batteries can be found at Radio Shack. The half height AA battery is purple and made by a company called Tandrian. They are more expensive from the Shack.
Here's another online source for the PRAM battery that is much cheaper.

  • My mac 10.4.11 won't recognize my i phone 4s in itunes

see above.  is the 10.4.11 compatible with the new 4s i phone?

Unfortunately, no.  The new iphone requires at least Mac OS X v10.5.8; full requirements are listed here:
    http://www.apple.com/iphone/specs.html
With iCloud, however, a computer is not necessarily needed for basic requirements beyond the inital activation (which could be done by a friends' computer or an Apple Store)

  • Just bought CreativeCloud, installed CC for Mac OS X Yosemite, won't start

The subject says it all.  I just bought CreativeCloud, installed the OS X installer, and when I try to run "Adobe Creative Cloud", nothing shows up.  I even tried to run it from the terminal, and there's no feedback at all.  It just doesn't start.  Any ideas?

Thank you Jeff, killing the process and then restarting it today seems to have been enough to fix the problem!  Now the CC program is running and downloading software!

  • Why won't Mac Pro 1,1 won't recognize new memory?

Hi out there. I needed a bit more memory so I got 2G of Kingston. I had ordered it from MacMall and had given my serial # and they picked it, so I am assuming it is the right memory. I have installed it in slot 3. From what I have read in the manual that is correct. I have heard conflicting things about having to install in pairs. I have 512 in slots 1 and 2 for a total of 1G before the new memory. I have taken it out and put it back in a few times, reset PRAM, etc, to no avail. So, my question is.... does it really need to be installed in pairs???? Could it just be faulty memory? I have searched the forum, and this seems to be a common problem with later models of MacPros, but I haven't seen anything about older ones like mine.
    Thanks!

OK, thanks. I thought so. I wasn't sure though and when I talked to the woman at MacMall she said no. I have done a lot of biz with them and have never steered me wrong before, so I am not dissing them, but it sure would have been nice to know to begin with so I could have bought two 1Gs instead of having to buy another 2Gs. Oh well, now it will hopefully be back to being superfast.
Thanks for your quick response, I appreciate it!
